Also, assume that I will only be playing on my Mesmer and only every worry about gear on him, is it worthwhile to invest in Assassins gear over Berserkers gear? I get the impression that many Mesmers prefer Assassins, but choose Berserker Ascendeds in order to share with their alts. Perhaps this is a misconception on my part?

As of the recent announcement regarding changes to Ascended gearing (and not having done much of crafting) I do feel rather stressed about getting the vendor ascended things in a timely manner.

I have a Call of the Wild since before, and about 1510ish Laurels to my name at the moment (I’ve been on a long break <_<). What would be the most prudent things to spend them on?

I’m assuming Ascended trinkets. I’ll have to read up on how to acquire weapons.

I’m assuming step 1 is to blow 70 of those Laurels of “Crystalline Band” + “Ring of Red Death”, yes?

Commander gear sounds like it’d be a perfect next goal. Unfortunately, it appears to be crafted, so I’ll either have to powerlevel tailoring or pick up a full set from the BLT. I was hoping I could use all the spare “Choose your own stats” quest rewards you pick up throughout HotS experience.

So why are we supposed to pay attention to you?

I’ve currently got my good ol’ Berserker/Assassins gear setup, as well as a Dire/Rabid setup. As I’m working on ascended Berserker gear, I keep getting soulbound exotics from quests and what have you, and I’m kinda stumped as to what stats I’d like. I’m thinking Knight or Valkyrie, just for solo PvE/Roaming, but I thought I’d check what other Mesmers are doing first. Does support Chronomancer require specific gear? Do Chronos still tank? What gear would a Chronotank use?

Tl;dr; Once you have your Shatter-Burst and Condition gear, what do you gear for next?

I’m not really a fan of the Chronomancer, because I feel like I cripple myself by not playing support/wells. For solo-play, I usually run a zerker setup with Sword/Sword + Greatsword (I’m lazy, sue me).

I still have the Chrono line equipped, though, because I can’t stand playing the pre-HoT Mesmer at quicksand speeds.

With elite specs being supposedly unique and with future installations of GW adding new weapon choices with elite specs (I haven’t played GW1, but it’s what I’ve been told), won’t it be problematic to have our Run Speed Increase stuck in the Chronomancer elite tree? Has this been adressed? Did something similar happen to other professions with the launch of HoT, and if so, how was it adressed?

Would you be willing to give up the Chromancer RSI in order to play a new elite spec which you’d otherwise enjoy over the Chronomancer?

Three months later, with upgraded RAM and a fresh defrag, I thought I’d give the game another go.

Loading screens are slower than ever.

Has there been any upgrades to the game engine recently? Starting to think that my rig has lost the abiliy to support this game.

Old player who finally has a week over to play some games. Trying to catch up with GW2, and Heart of Thorns.

GW2 has always been one of those games that loads a bit longer than other MMO’s I’ve been playing (SWTOR, WoW, The Secret World, Wildstar). The loading screens are just longer. In Heart of Thorns, though, the loading screens for HoT-areas cause my entire computer to freeze for up to 10 minutes. I dual-screen, and where other games allow me to browse the internet while the game loads, GW2 won’t let me do that.

It’s also not only when I log in. If I have to use a waypoint teleport in-game, even if it’s in the same zone, I may have to wait for 10 minutes before I can start playing again. It makes travelling or dying in the Verdant Brink extremely frustrating, and several times I’ve simply alt+F4’d out of frustration, so that I wouldn’t have to wait any longer.

I’m not sure if it’s a hardware issue or if it’s just the state of the game (hence why I created this thread). If it is a hardware issue, I’ll just un-install the game and try to catch up in the future, once I’ve got a better computer. If it’s a known issue that is getting fixed, I’ll hold out for a bit longer. My first thought was that the new maps have more depth/more dimensions and levels than previous maps. Thus more things to load.

Any thoughts? Am I alone with these issues? ^^;

I’ve noticed that each of my characters receive a login reward of their own, rather than one per account. I’m wondering if this is a new feature of the patch – or if it’s a bug that’s going to be fixed? I noticed they disabled character creation, and am wondering if this is because of this feature?

I’ve purposefully not opened any of my reward bags, just in case this was indeed not intended, because I don’t want to get my account terminated in case this is a non-intended effect of the new patch.

Is there any official word on this, yet?

My alt turned 3 years today, and I was very much looking forward to getting the Abyss dye from the Lion’s Arch Survivors kit. According to the wiki-page, it should be included there:

However, the dye was not an option in the pack – and I now believe that it “only” offers the exclusive dyes from the respective pack. Which is neat, but would have steered my choice differently (electric pink, woo!)

I have two questions, I suppose:

1) – Have I understood it correctly, that the 3’rd birthday dye kits offer the exclusive colours of their respective packs, and not free choice of any die that arrived in that pack?

2) – Could I appeal to customer service and ask for the possibility to redo my choice, or would that be a waste of time?

There’s no discounts to go along with the phasing out of items, which would have gone a long way in promoting sales. I’d love the Llama Finisher for my Mesmer, for an example – but I’m not going to enjoy it often enough to spend 800 gems on it. Same goes with the Trickster’s armor.

Let’s hope that this’ll make room for new and interesting items in the gem store.

I’ve been thinking of getting in WvW for some time now. I finally managed to scrape up enough to afford a pair of Perplexity Runes, when I saw their price had skyrocket tremendously. They’re now 13 gold a pop!

I can’t think of what would cause a price spike that steep. Is it anyway related to the change with Black Lion Keys? Was there a patch update or PvP announcement made? Or is this merely the way the market fluctuates?

So much for my reading comprehension. I just saw that they’d both replace my Ruby Orichalcum X, and didn’t bother to read further, I guess.

So in order to gain the full range of ascended items, you’ll be doing both PvP as well as farming exotics and rares for ectos, is that correct?

I’m about to purchase my first piece. I play mostly power builds, so I was thinking of going with Ring of Red Death. It’s got +126 Power, +85 Precision, +85 Ferocity and an Offensive Infusion Slot (whatever that is).

It costs 25 Laurels and 250 Badges of Honour.

Then there’s also Althea’s Ashes. It’s got +110 Power, +74 Precision, +74 Ferocity and an Offensive Infusion Slot.

It costs 40 Laurels and 50 Globs of Ectoplasm.

I suppose I’m confused over the fact that Althea’s Ashes is so much more expensive, yet seems… Worse? Or are Ectos easier to come by than Badges of Honour?

For reference, current funds are:

45 Laurels.
24 Globs of Ecto.
603 Badges of Honour.

Given that the vendors will remain in game for some time to come, I think a more prudent question would be: Would it be possible for future events to also offer blooms, and simply allow the vendors to remain indefinately?

So apparantly, my main is 3 years old today (wieee) – and as part of the birthday celebrations, I get to choose a dye from various BLT kits.

If I choose the Toxic Dye kit, will I be able to select the Blacklight Dye? Or is it randomized?

I dislike outfits with a fiery passion. I much prefer to be able to mix and match my own pieces.

That being said, some outfits have parts on them that are simply gorgeous. Please consider adding some of those as separate items.

As a male human Mesmer, I’d love the chestpiece from the “Fancy Winter”, “Exemplar”, and especially the “Noble Count” – and I’d buy them in an instant if they were to be made into armour skins.

Which is interesting, considering I’d love that selflessness potion.

I tag every Mordrem Invasion I get across. I make sure to kill a mob or two, damage the Spawner if I’m able – and then I run away, either towards the next event on the map, or enough until I get out of combat so that I can use the waygate.

I don’t stop to help ressurect dead or dying players. There’s no time, I have 30 minutes to get 20 stacks. Sometimes, my buff won’t get updated when I’ve participated in an event – it doesn’t seem to matter if I was just there to tag a mob, or if I stayed to deal some damage first. Seemingly at random, it just won’t count.

After I’m done with my 20 stacks (if I even reach that far) I’m stricken with how boring and exhausting the entire thing was, so I just go afk to get myself a drink. There’s no reason to continue helping out once you’ve got max stacks – especially since, sometimes, you still won’t receive the rewards due to bugs.

So yeah. I’ve never played this game this selfishly before- and I don’t care to do so in the future. It makes me feel bad, like a leech, but it’s also the most effective (some would say only) way to play this event.

Let’s hope this event is not a preview of what’s to come in Heart of Thorns.

I think I’m at 4 (possibly 5) events where I’ve participated, gotten a few stacks of the buff, and yet been rewarded with nothing at the end of the fight.

It also doesn’t help that we don’t seem to know for sure how many blooms you get for the stack you’re currently at, and so we have no goal in sight on a certain amount of events to farm – even when we’re not given any reward.

Ideally, the blooms will be given to us before the 14’th. I understand the event vendors will remain for some time afterwards, but that really isn’t of any use unless we know for a fact how many blooms we’re “supposed” to have.

It was my understanding that this bug had been fixed – but I’ve recently participated in two more events and yet not received any reward towards the end. Is there any point in me trying any more events tonight, or should I spend my time elsewhere and hope for better fortune tomorrow? Like many others, my time is limited – I simply can’t spend hour upon hour mindlessly farming these event mobs – without knowing if I’m actually making any progress at all (and how much progress, if so).

We’re running blind here, A-net. If you can’t fix this, at least let us know, so that we don’t bother in vain.

I’ve been googling to see what became of this feature. As best as I can tell, some 10 months ago, Gaile Gray mentioned that it would again be possible to convert a custom amount of gems into gold and vice versa, rather than having to aim for set packages.

At the moment, that seems to be the case for gold (you can decide how many gems you wish to convert into gold) – but not the other way around. If I want to buy gems for gold, the lowest amount of gems I can buy seems to be 400, at the (current) cost of 103 gold.

Is the plan still to have a custom gold to gems feature implemented? If so, is there an ETA on this?

Don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that we finally have some sprint for the Mesmer – but the constant shouting from my Mesmer is getting annoying. It’s gotten to the point where I take the signet off every time I go to do the Living Story, or talk to an NPC.

Did you know that sometimes, during cinematics, NPC’s will be muted because the silly Signet dialogue takes precedence over the NPC talking? xD

I think the sales have been great, so far. All I want for it to be perfect is a bank slot and the chain-whip sword. <3

They permanently lowered the price 9 months after launch by $10. A year and 8 months after launch they had a 9 day sale where the game was available for $25.

I think the expansion will lower in price much quicker than the base game did though.

Serious question – please keep any unecessary drama out of this thread. Some people think HoT is overpriced, some think it’s just fine the way it is. Whichever camp you’re in – good for you.

I’m curious as to how long after GW2’s initial release it took for the game to first go on sale. I was just about to pre-order it, when at last minute I noticed that the pricing was presented in £ and not €, and so I’m thinking of holding off for a while. I’m not in a hurry, after all – there’s plenty of content in the core game I’ve yet to do, and there’s a plethora of other games to keep me busy while waiting.

Does anyone happen to know?

I’m personally waiting for a sale a year or two down the line from release, but that’s quite all right. I’ve three more races and five more classes to level til then, as well as other games that require my attention.
