Great Matchup so far! This is the first video of [PiNK] in action reset night on FABL. This is probably my favorite of all our videos because it really captures who we are. I hope you enjoy it too, and cya tonight!

First 3 mins or so is the moment I was talking about earlier in this thread haha! – the DB [NNK] group built 8 ballistae (1 superior) behind FA lol, I was cracking up.. a lot of the FA guys split to the camp when they saw the sandwich, looks some tunnel visioned and died too though /facepalm

Fun stuff – best thing that happened so far was TC and FA twisted up into giant murderball in FA BL near Godslore.. NNK & co from Dragonbrand stroll up, stop at a distance and build a line of 8 ballistae behind us all

I can just imagine the NNK commander – Aim… steady.. steady.. commence farming of both zergs!

I’d expect to see more bunker guardians and d/d eles in the upper tiers, maybe some more power necros too. It’ll be harder to find mesmers for porting etc, I’d expect most mesmers who don’t change class to be a roaming shatter build with a couple stealths (the stronger build in small scale fights)

Who’s taking second this week – so close! I’m hoping you guys stop DB from taking blue position in T2.. they are uncomfortably close to jumping over us (like 1.3 rating pts)
Looking forward to fresh new faces in T2 Dragonbrand – you guys have always been fun to fight and I hope when you join the match it will reinvigorate our server participation a bit..

• Terrain/landscapes – I’d love to see new maps for each borderlands. EB is too crowded for my taste. Borderlands map size is perfect for me. My dream is for each server to have their own unique Borderlands map with their own server theme.

• Queues – I don’t know where you’re encountering this. Queues are practically non-existent in T2 NA except the first few hours of NA reset and I’ve heard T1 NA only has queues on reset day?

• Keep defense – Well, realistically – more troops attacking should have the advantage. I think keeps can take an incredible amount of effort, time and gold to conquer. Not everyone has 2+ hours to command an offensive on a fully upgraded and well defended Hills / EB Keep / Garrison..

• Ranks – While it is lackluster, I’m indifferent. It means very little to me. I’d trade this WvW rank system for a GvG arena and ranking system or a command raid squad setup with in game VoIP any day.

Maguuma is just like FA before we got a few oceanic transfers – only uhh, weirder.

Put a mini pet in the store that sells for 2k gems. This mini pet picks up all your bags automagically. You would have a gold mine with this.

They used this exact system in another Korean MMORPG I played a long time ago.. they gouged people even more by making them a rental (you had to buy a recharge every month)
The original was a monkey (picture attached) they expanded it to bunny rabbits, squirrels etc.. you could change it to pick up certain types of loot and set the radius, too.

2 hours is a hilarious small sample size, but it was pleasant. Less salty, angsty, spazzy. All I saw in chat was numbers and movements and all clears. I saw people responding to the info. I saw people hanging out manning siege no where near the action.

The thing that made me finally move, after all my “just play” talk was the fact that a 30 man zerg can just roll up your home Borderland all the way to Spiritholme and NO ONE called it out. Maybe it was said in voice coms, maybe, but still no one was there.

I was hot, after upgrading the camp, since I’m cheap and all. I remember FA as being more functional a month ago.

Gotta say, I’ve been on FA from the start and all I’ve seen is improvement. There has never been a point where I think “Gee, we were more efficient/functional/effective as a server 4/6/8 weeks ago”.
Also, I’m biased but I feel like it would be a struggle to grasp any sense of the FA community when you isolate yourself to your own guild, you don’t actively seek to create a havoc/roaming team etc – don’t really understand how something can be knocked until you actively involve yourself in it (being active on the FA forums, shoutbox, comms and scouting/liasing and cross map communicating with in-game team chat and whisper).

At least Shira and Mif did get themselves involved with the community to some degree, they just completely clashed with everyone else and everyone is entitled to their opinions in that regard. With that said, enjoy yourself on TC and farewell!

Exactly. Our NA-Pacific would purposely play longer shifts on certain days (Tuesdays) to overlap into your oceanic not allowing you guys to setup as efficiently to deal with WM. Similarly, you guys could have done more to redirect WM to TCBL during Oceanic and keep them there. Which means for 8 hours we are suffering PPT wise allowing FA to build a gap over us and leaving our European timeslot with a lot of ground to make up which we are unable to without at least some way-pointed keeps.

The fact that there is such a large gap between TC’s two dominant timezones (NA Pacific and European) meant that for if FA played a smart meta back then we would have no chance in hell to come anything other than third during those weeks.

I have to say…there have been days that some of us in WvW in TC have pulled 18 hour days in order to catch up, myself included, and I can say…when pple say coverage is all that crap.

I’m starting to see a pattern here.. I think the confusion is occurring when we get to the definition of coverage. Artificially or not, coverage is coverage. More boots on the field in your weak times. Whether they are players living in that timezone or people playing.. frankly unhealthy hours to fill the ranks artificially – it still creates coverage.

That’s why ultimately, I have to disagree to statements regarding FA’s “superior coverage” prior to the recent CD transfers. It’s simply incorrect and I think the problem lies with TC thinking it’s a bad “tactical” decision that FA doesn’t play an incredible amount of hours, skipping work/studying and sacrificing a ridiculous amount of time to fill coverage gaps.

Your fallacy lies in the fact that you are assuming coverage is calculated in a 1v1 between FA and TC thats not the case, Kaineng is/was very much in the picture as well and our European can be completely a non-factor if WM is allowed to focus TC down during their SEA and late into our European thus negating our second semi-dominant timezone completely. What I am saying is that FA had all the coverage they needed to win T2 as well if they followed an overall meta strategy like we did.

Commanders like Jadon, Odinzu, Nightlight, Rhyme and many others worked with me in implementing this strategy which allowed us to win T2 that one week with inferior coverage.

I think the part where we disagree is where you think you had inferior coverage.
Also; SEA is 8 hours ahead of EU.. SEA is 1.5-2 hours behind Oceanic. Food for thought about timezone overlap?

Really just curious here though, why do you think FA had superior coverage prior to the remaining CD guilds moving to TC? I mean, Kaineng had the best Oceanic/SEA coverage by far, balancing out that timezone. Nobody except TC has any EU (early morning NA) coverage.

[HL] on FA have done a magnificent job sieging up Hills in KN BL. I actually want someone to come and take that keep, just so they can see how much it has been decked out. Pretty mindblowing stuff – I stopped counting after I saw 5 superior trebs and ~10-15 superior arrow carts on the inner perimeter..

I’m not really expressing a lack of turnout from “fairweather” players. From what I have seen in FA’s turnout, it’s relatively consistent. I’m just lamenting on the long term health of GW2 WvW as a whole. When the outcome become stale and the odds are skewed in one mans favour, interest inevitably dwindles. If you know you’re gonna win, same deal (Titan Alliance?).. It’s not about really about maintaining morale – it’s about how mundane and predictable things can become in this kind of situation.

The current WvW meta doesn’t produce much in the way of unpredictable excitement, it’s probably why everyone gets so excited about transfers – woo, something is actually changing and people hedge bets on who is the new top dog because coverage trumps all.

Prominent WvW guilds on FA have held WvW nights for as long as I can remember, open doors to anyone. We still have individuals and small PvE/PvX guilds poking their heads in and introducing themselves to our community. Guess I’m just reflecting on why so many of my friends from multiple servers/guild roster are inactive these days.

TC likes their part of WvW, FA likes the PKing aspect of WvW, sure, but I bet they’d both like some new interesting dynamics thrown in the mix.. a king of the hill scenario, capture the flag/orb, last man standing, capture an objective time trials, new siege weaponry, timezone based server achievements and rewards, new maps..
anyways I’m rambling. Sleep time.

Not gonna lie, I had a lot of fun zerg busting tonight!
I just wish that the scoreboard was a little tighter and the outcome was.. less predictable. Coverage wise; it’s pretty obvious we are looking at 4 T1 capable servers for the foreseeable future.

There’s no reward for coming first but it sure was a fun goal to have for all 3 servers for a while there, I know a lot of our PvE players and PvX guilds really got addicted to WvW for the first time in some of those closer matchups.
It’s kinda difficult to motivate casual / new WvWers and explain that they should be enthusiastic about a guaranteed second place. To really see the upside of being an underdog they need to stick around, get involved in our community, find a good coordinated group and start wading through a sea of bodies while laughing like a bloodthirsty madman about their inventory space. Some people just won’t stick around for that. The new faces I see in WvW these days are just hardcore WvWers from other servers.

I’ve been away for a couple weeks and reading this stuff makes me wonder why I’m even back! Let’s stop pretending we’re appointed representatives of our servers, for starters. Now, who’s going to be the bigger man/grow up and get a grip already?! Borrrring. If you’re going to ruffle feathers, at least be creative about it (see; Quenta, Jayne .. wow what a lovely couple that would be..)

Originally they are from Maguuma, but AoN was on FA when they were on the bottom of T3. We left when Fort Aspenwood got all the transfers and started dominating the tier. DB was a great choice for us, but SoS imploded and upset the cosmic balance and now they are dominating the tier, so back to FA.

Would someone from TC who plays in the SEA time against Meow/WM send me a PM? I noticed you guys kept your garrison this morning, and I’m looking for some advice as to how you managed that. Over on FABL we faced at least 50 KN invaders who (after we took out their 5 golems) just dps’ed the door down, so there was nothing our 15 defenders could do.

It’s a little frustrating to say the least, so I’m wondering if you guys are doing something differently than we are, have more people, or just aren’t getting as much attention because KN wants to keep us down in points.

Btw this is not a “Night Capping” or “PvD” complaint, I am just looking for information and this is the best possible forum to do so.

Biggest threat gets the most attention, pretty natural. Not to take away from the defensive ability of TC at all – I just see the pattern that Kaineng follows (rightly so) every SEA prime time. There is method to their madness

Personally I find it kind of exciting we are nipping at TC’s heels again. I also quoted these two matches to show how far we have come.

I remember that first “Beastgate/Stackgate” match /shudder..
You can probably find the old match thread but that is where the rivalry between TC and FA began. We were accused of not even contributing to the match by a few outspoken TC players, of course FA saying the same thing to TC – haha. 20k behind 2nd really wasn’t that bad when the next match highlighted the difference between TC/FA strength in raw participation. Both sides were pretty frustrated, getting whooped that hard left a mark.
I wouldn’t mind giving that back to Blackgate one day! /shakes fist

Well, I’m not going to say I’ve read all 19 pages of this. After skimming past some of the last few pages, I found my palm firmly imprinting itself on my face. If you have read all of these pages (especially if you are individually responsible for more than 10% of the posts in this thread), I worry for you!

In summary, I can enter WvW at any time of the day and have a great time. Thanks to TC and KN for bringing the pain and delivering that to me. I look forward to our next warm ‘n’ cuddly match up.

The only solution I can see is merging. ArenaNet should just allow the WvW players on lower pop servers to transfer off for free if they are not enjoying their endgame WvW for the long term.

Other than that we just sieged up our spawn tower multiple times for funsies. There sure were a metric kittenton of FA around having a grand ol’ time. You guys love to /laugh (no seriously, you guys are always popping up in my chat as laughing all the time), so I’m not buying the hardened war veteran persona when you are all clearly so giddy.

Well, judging by this thread – FA gonna FA. I don’t think we will ever learn not to make both servers mad and kick every wasp nest we can. That’s why I love this server.

HB has somewhere around 100 or so members right now. You can visit their website here if you’re interested in applying to join them.

Actually I think that is a Danish football club. xD
They do have a website and I’ve followed Smokee’s videos for a long time. Just never saw groups of 30+ HB in videos or in person when we fought HB, in comparison to 30-40 man PiNK groups. I would consider applying but they are on Blackgate, I’ve been hoping they would come to FA to fill our EU coverage gap haha..
