Like I said, I’m Aussie. I still refer to it as “night capping” just like Yak’s did against Crystal Desert in their last thread. “Off-peak” capping would be more accurate, the former just a commonly used term in forums. I’m just explaining why I have no team to cap larger objectives with, and why Fort Aspenwood had a larger PPT earlier on. There’s no “sooking” here, I fully understand this is a 24/7 war – it’s just a discussion of player distribution in regards to timezones. If that is having a cry about it, what would you rather have me discuss, the dolyak/supply camp flips a 5-10 man team on borderlands can manage? 
Regarding Eredon Tce, they suffered a loss of dedicated WvWers after RUIN left which snowballed into everybody leaving. Only the most determined have stayed until they find their footing again, probably at the bottom tiers. See “Henge of Denravi” and Titan Alliance as a reference.

The European WvWvW servers are hosted in Dallas as well. I’m Australian on the West Coast. I don’t really understand what you are trying to achieve here – we already realise our Achilles heel is our off-peak population base which snowballs into a low morale and turnout for the week. That’s why we have been recruiting directly for this time slot. That doesn’t mean that people aren’t allowed to confirm that is our weakness in comparison to other servers without being labeled as ignorant (it is in fact, the opposite.)

Dragonbrand is a force to be reckoned with, I don’t really understand the timezone their zerg hits – it’s like a peak Euro time, it’s always past my bedtime in Oceanic but too early for NA ..
Maguuma is determined and well coordinated. You can’t take your eyes off them or they WILL sneak up on you. I’m quite envious because I feel perhaps we give up a little easier than our opponents, especially in this match where Mag & DB have continued to upgrade and construct siege defenses even though they know they can only delay our forces. I can only hope this match will help with our server morale for when times are tougher.

There are Koreans and Australians on our NA servers who cant speak english, and they play here just fine. Go join an English speaking server, your guild chat doesnt magically turn to english

On topic: Yes, international alliances will probably be superior in the LONG run. That’s just the way the world works. Open your arms and welcome them or push them away and suffer the consequences, basically. The servers are not region locked and if that isn’t going to happen, then that is how the system is going to work (even that can be circumvented if desired).
I have been in guilds that are entirely Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Thai guilds etc.. on many games and yeah there were language barriers there – we still coordinated together at a highly functional level in-game and as a bonus we also helped each other learn the basics of our language. It’s basically like saying “businesses that cater to international people will be more successful!” – what did you expect, really?

If Eredon Terrace lands in the matchup, it’s unlikely they can field a population for that match but I won’t make assumptions until I see it for my own eyes. Until then!

I would love to see the puzzles and any other PvE content removed from WvW – Removing bots and people there for exploring/puzzles/farming etc is great in my book. I don’t really care about the drop rate for badges, I get enough as it is.

@Badwrong: Yeah. We had Maguuma knocking on the inner door of Garrison in FA Borderlands earlier, all stacked on cata hitting gate. Only 5 of us inside, we set up a Superior Arrow cart just hidden from view behind wall, and AOE the kitten out of cata. Other 4 players ported through and charged when Maguuma was weak – ended up with 16-20 corpses scattered, haha.

We have light coverage for Central Asia/SEA/Oceanic – but it’s midnight in Singapore, 3am here in most of Australia.. but about 5-6pm in Europe right now – and we are getting destroyed (+15 PPT) by a very large Dragonbrand force (rumor has it they have a sizeable German force, I don’t know whether that is valid or not)

As far as I can tell, HB just have a lot of coordinated skill. They aren’t even the “40 man turtles” you are talking about. In fact, it seems like they only seem to run around with like 10-20 people, lol. It’s honestly like this has never been seen before, you realise even tier 7 servers have been doing this for 2 months? Hell, I know Titan Alliance had videos of them doing it during BWE o.O

We are looking at heading into tier 3 again. There will be 9 competitive servers for the foreseeable future – and we need off-peak reinforcements badly to keep our upgrades as best as we can.
My random predictions for next fortnight or so:
T1 : BG/SoS/JQ
T2 : SoR/IoJ/SBI
T3: TC/FA/CD
With TC constantly in our crosshairs, we will continue to bounce between T3 and T4 until we can maintain a decent off-peak force. We generally experience a queue on the opening reset weekend of up to an hour during peak NA time, but instant entry during off-peak time. This however, does not indicate we are a “ghost town” during off-peak, I’m aussie myself, we generally run guerrilla tactics at these times in all maps OR concentrate on holding one map united together as we just need more manpower to field a larger scale opposition.
Some selling points: Our server is a very balanced mix of PVE/PvP, chat is actively LFG and doing halloween activities. People are generally well-mannered and mature with the occasional rotten egg. Our dedicated WvW guilds are resolute in the face of adversity (even against “Beastgate”) and we keep fighting and taking objectives successfully while outmanned or experiencing a disappointing overnight PPT drop. /team chat is used widely across all maps with many of the guilds offering TS / raidcall services.
We have a NA force to be reckoned with and have shown the ability to come out on top in PPT with SM and 2-3 orbs consistently during the 8 hours after matchups reset. Plenty of tactics to bring to the table (and some strong opponents / very skilled small scale guild transfers teaching us some new ones) with a non-elitist attitude. I encourage WvW focused Asian/Aussie/Kiwi/Euro individuals and small to medium sized guilds to consider our server as your new home for the long term.

I don’t really understand why people thinking no aoe cap would just destroy entire armies. We would never get into lord rooms if that was the case – siege has no AOE cap and arrow carts have like a 4 second cooldown with more damage than the Ranger Barrage. Someone please clarify how 5 people could stop a whole army who knew what they were doing eg. invulnerability, portals, blocks, evades, feedback, retaliation etc.

Well, you won’t be as coordinated as you could be. If you wish to go in solo I would suggest asking around to find out who the GOOD commanders are or if you have an open voice communication for your server. You can be more effective than most of the random people simply by communicating in /team on enemy sightings (numbers/location/future destination) doing supply runs for repairs or siege construction, manning siege, flipping supply camps, cutting enemy supply or creating diversions. At level 55, I would suggest not roaming alone – try to gather a small 3-5 man party up and you will be more effective.

Well, that would bring back nostalgia of another MMORPG I used to play called Silkroad Online [SRO]. Everyone was either a thief, a trader or a guard – you could change these jobs by wearing different suits. They would put you in a combat mode and basically the traders would load up camels and transport goods across the entire world map, selling the goods to NPCs upon reaching their destination safely. They could make a fine profit doing so however other players wearing the thief suit could scout these traders out and kill them for their goods, and sell them on the black market. So traders would pay other strong PVP players to wear the guard suit, and protect them from thieves.

Totally agree with Wulfe, the “overnight presence” sticks out like a sore thumb when you are thinking about fortifying a keep.
In addition, some servers were really tight with siege for quite a while when gold was scarce. Also, particular servers in the really low tiers were unlikely have any decent WvW guilds or coordinated strategy at all in the first month or so after release. These things solve themselves over time – I think with some fine tuning from ANet and about six months we should have 9 – 12 very competitive servers vying for the top spot.
I have a sneaking suspicion a lot of the transfers are just morons who want to bask in the glory of a win. Funny thing is, you actually earn less karma / badges / XP that way.

We never underestimate Maguuma and their ability to form a defensive siege or a ninja on a keep. I think we have found the best way to take Maguuma down is to break their forces by attacking multiple objectives – otherwise they just turtle up and hold us at a bottleneck. Don’t think Fort Aspenwood has taken any objectives easily though – they all come at a cost somewhere else (weakened forces somewhere else), or we face heavy defenses. No PvDoor in this match at all. Well done to the Dragonbrand guys portal bombing all over the place in Maguuma borderlands too, and the offensive (sneaky!) Maguuma hits on eastern keep and garrison. It was pretty devastating to have Maguuma beating on two doors to get their garrison back, while simultaneously DB was destroying our southern towers and camps before moving on to hit western keep.
When there’s 7 orange swords on the map, and the winning team gets an outmanned buff here and there, you know it’s a good match. I would like to stress this game CAN still be won by anyone. I hope that Fort Aspenwood doesn’t get slack in the lead because I get the feeling these two servers will strike quickly at any sign of weakness.

I actually was doing this so easily when it first released that I was farming ToT bags from it on my ranger. After sleeping etc, for some reason – whether it be more server load or my internet connection (probably both), latency is causing my character to differ between screen position and actual position – I’ve actually been told I’m rubberbanding all over the puzzle by other people in there. I get teleported out when landing perfect jumps etc. I think if it was instanced it would at least aid my problem a little, with my terrible Australian internet. I guess I will just have to be happy with the single completion and forget about doing it on my alts :P

2. Fixed Quickening Zephyr speed w/ Shortbow.
3. Faster projectile travel speed for all arrows. Hopefully eventually a fix for “Obstructed!” on clear LOS shots, too.
4. Enhanced Pet AI – (Making contact on moving targets, not standing at a halt 10m in front of you, permanent stow pet, F2 skill response, staying passive when using F2 for buffs/condition removal only, pets should DPS objects we attack too – like quaggan nodes, weapon racks etc)
5. Poison on Shortbow turned into a single target volley with ricochet or ground targeted aoe.
6. Greatsword, Shortbow, Longbow DPS. Possibly shortbow bleeds regardless of angle, like a warriors rifle.
7. More effective condition removal and team support.
8. 1H sword bugs fixed.
9. Making lots of traits less useless. Opening Strike comes to mind at the top of that list..
EDIT: I forgot about Entangle being unaffected by condition damage (bleeds for 42 per tick regardless of cond. dmg even though tooltip shows it calculated with condition dmg..) Needs to be fixed.

No queues – instant entry into all maps on Fort Aspenwood since about 5 hours after reset, outmanned buff on all maps for longer than 9 hours usually isn’t a great sign. Seems like we have a whole bunch of fair weather warriors, participation wise. Only the regulars are really using siege weapons or attempting to coordinate in /team. Doesn’t make it any less fun at all though, it’s been amazing! Some frantic defenses against Blackgate at west keep and at the same time TC golem rushing garrison in FA Borderlands today (I think we held Blackgate at the keep lord 3 times!), and then an epic battle for a measly tower in TC borderlands which we built 3 trebs on, TC eventually reclaimed it with a very impressive sized swarm of troops. Can’t wait for more!

TC is either staying up reaaaaally late – or they have a much stronger “night” force than what showed up last match up, haha. Props to TC for the persistent battles, and to the small numbers of NA guys staying up to fight for FA – been great fun.

It is a culling issue. People have been complaining about it for weeks now. It doesn’t really matter how many players are in your vicinity. It can even happen 1v1. Here’s a tip – try stacking on top of each other and spamming aoe. He has to hit cloak and dagger on someone – and it has to be in melee range. Pretty simple – we have people do this to us all the time on FA but we just stack up and AOE. It always helps to learn the mechanics of the other professions if you are struggling.
