I was scouting for FA on eb for the last few hours. Our main force never even ventured to TC side. How those were flipped, I don’t know, but it wasn’t our militia zerg (that’s all I think we have at this time of night). If they were flipped illegitimately, it doesn’t represent our server, and I know 99.9% of us don’t condone that type of play. The ones of us that were on that I know were in our corner playing defense. We were even outmanned for a bit (haven’t seen that buff in a longgg time) and I think that’s around when those towers flipped. Sorry, it’s bs, and we’d prefer to win fairly.

Good fights this week, and I look forward to what the rest of the week has to hold.

Dragonbrand has closed insanely worse deficits before. You haven’t participated in competitive match-ups in a long time huh? Or did you trick yourself into thinking Dragonbrand was this sort of super-monster-server and T2’s match-ups were decided already? We’re a T2 server just like FA and TC – 99.8% of Dragonbrand knows it – certain posters just hyped us up and you seem to have bought into it.

No I think dragonbrand tricked itself by challenging TC/FA to get them below 200 ppt. Yeah, we won’t forget that one.

Bulletin board material is exactly that, but I seriously doubt it’s a factor even worth mentioning in the actual score.

I’m not buying it. The forum stuff spreads like wildfire, at least on FA.. pretty much every WvW based guild has at least a couple people lurking, plus the server VoIP and zone based chats/private forums tend to mention topics from these forums often enough.

Dragonbrand has no Oceanic guilds. Not even one. What we do have on occasion are NA guilds that stay up late or SEA guilds that come on extra early.

This means Dragonbrand has some large coverage gaps. Sunday night into early monday morning has historically been the worst one for Dragonbrand. Our NA guilds are going to bed at a reasonable hour to get up for work or school, our SEA guilds are already at work(monday in Taiwan/Malaysia).

Hence my “calm before the storm” comment. It’s only 4:30pm Monday in SEA (my timezone too on the west coast of Aus)

All good brother, EMP aka RE is having the same success you are having and a lot of people are hating on JQ. The only difference between you and rawbrah is you moved to a #2 T1 server and got it to #1. Rawbrah he brought a T3 server all way up to T2 and dominating T2 soon enough he will be in T1 and there will be lots of drama especially if RE owns our JQ NA guilds.

My prediction for next week results; DB wins by 40k+, TC takes 2nd from FA by 15k+

It must be difficult for some of you DB posters to drag that ego around with you.

Ah. CO was in Kaineng though. [RE], [rB] and [AGG] are the only guilds on DB with T1 players IIRC. I still think this match is fun and the tier isn’t ruined by transfers at all – DB’s population will stabilize over time. The recent patch did more damage overall for sure.

Right now judging by the amount of chest thumping by random people who have never posted for DB before, I think they’re just riding the wave of transfers and high morale. There’s several reasons that doesn’t last forever & besides – there’s no actual reward for being #1 in your tier

I’ve got to be honest. This matchup between FA, TC, and DB was going to be epic. Things would have been even, and it would have just been fun WvW. It’s a shame that Bored Asian T1ers had to come in and turn it into a boring match up of waitig until everyone goes to sleep and then flip their stuff.

The SEA guilds like NNK, TVF etc have always been on Dragonbrand. Some of their newer NA guilds have some players in that timezone or staying up late too.

I think TC just has leadership burnout, FA has been there before and it corrects itself after a while, when new commanders or fresh WvWers are encouraged to step up to the plate and learn the ropes. It’s silly to say that some servers are affected more by finals, PvE events or “having more militia and less hardcore wvw guilds”

I’m pretty sure there’s a large amount of WvW medium/heavyweight guilds on TC these days, some original and some new. I barely see TC guys who aren’t following or tagged with the common WvW guilds like DIS, PiNK, CERN, TV, TSL, CYN, Pro, KH, NAGA, Awe, ZN to name a few off the top of my head.. hell, even most of TC’s posts in the match up threads have DIS, KH or PiNK in their sig.

Out of curiosity, what qualifies a server to be a “militia server”? Or is it the same thing as random FA posters calling our server a “GvG/PvP server”.. ?

I think the burnout is part of it, and it also lends itself to answering your militia server question.

We have a few “big-name” (popular, well loved, talented) commanders that bring the militia (PuGs and mixed guild groups) out in droves. When people see they’re commanding, they pour into WvW.

These commanders haven’t really been playing much since the DB reset. Some of them I’ve not seen on at all. I know of a few specific ones who are dealing with finals and RL stuff that is completely keeping them out of the game.

Our coordinated megazergs are almost entirely dependent on them showing up and making it happen. It’s one of our biggest strengths and also one of our biggest weaknesses.

SO! I’m sure they’ll be back once all their school and life stuff has been resolved… If we drop to 3rd, or T3, in the meantime, it’s all good. Wouldn’t be the first time we’ve dropped down, rallied, and climbed back up. Hopefully that doesn’t happen though!

Yeah, that’s what I was trying to say. Every server relies on good experienced leadership. When ULTD retired from GW2 (led by Quenta & Kaena at the time) and we lost PTX to SoS in the same week, our server tanked hard – it was rough.
After a while, new commanders stepped up to the plate and their guilds expanded, improved and merged – for example RET formed, PF led by Alaric merged with RET and BT grew and honed their swords.. a whole new potential to FA was unlocked. Pre-IoJ transfers to FA, I could easily tell when iBludgeon from PRO wasn’t on by looking at our Oceanic PPT.
Ask any of these hardcore WvW guilds how they run without a few of their key leaders, it makes a surprising impact. Just emphasizes how important it is to train new people, put confidence in them and try and take pressure off your WvW leaders so they aren’t “essential” to the success of the server.

TLDR; It’s tough to fill the shoes of a good established commander no matter what server structure you may have.

That is one hell of a route for scouting intel my dear friend. To go in there, stare at the group in there, don’t engage in combat while the other team attacks. None of us attacked even after being attacked. All we did was walk backwards and run away because we weren’t looking for a fight. I’ll repeat what I said earlier, only differently this time. Next time I see a small amount of people, whether they are looking for a fight or not, I’ll make sure to attack because guess what, it’s WvW and everyone is up for grabs. I’ll also ensure that you don’t return if need be. Fair enough? Side note: we returned numerous times, still not engaging combat, all in a row. Pretty sure that translates to anyone: they are not here for a fight. Maybe I’m just too considerate and think that others want the same things I do.

You should just ask for help in /map and /team or whisper the nearest commander tag over and over. That usually does the trick!

I don’t know what this old guard you keep speaking of is but there are still extremely competent leaders on TC you just have to find them and follow or I don’t know put on a tag and try leading some.

I took bay early Saturday morning with the help of Feranox and Company. It was boring and took like nine trebs. Sorry if my contribution to the war effort isn’t enough to make you happy.

Before that I stood in Sunnyhill for 5 hours on watch and scared off entire zergs with a Treb and an Arrowcart. Again, sorry if this isn’t enough for the ZN elites.

As far as the old guard goes, I don’t expect a recent transfer to really get it. We had something magical, now it just feels like AnyOldServer.

Totally agree about the AC patch.. regarding the other stuff, you should probably keep it to the TC forums before your own PR team shuns you

I’m not taking a jab at my opponent here; I honestly think some of TC’s forum “representatives” are quietly gracious in third. Not so much when they are in the lead. I’ve seen both sides of TC quite a few times before and I think by now, even some of the TC regulars recognise this.
Some of FA’s posters are generally consistent with bad behaviour regardless of their placement but can be worse if TC’s posters encourage and entertain it.
Just my opinion anyway.

Looking forward to reset! Congrats to DB for storming into the tier and securing #4 NA on the ladder, higher than they have ever been in mos.millenium.org history – hope we can keep you in T2 a while longer.

This has been an incredibly disappointing week. We have a new match-up and yet participation seems to be down.

2. The new update makes the action move along too slowly. An unkillable NPC and an OP arrow cart. Looks like the most exciting part of the week is the Dolyak parade.

I am familiar with the concept of zerg math. We outnumber you by a minimum of 30 people, while you simultaneously outnumber us by at least 30 people. The laws of physics (and logic) do not apply to zerg math.

Essentially, as soon as the number of enemies goes above 20 or so, they must outnumber you because no one’s going to bother to count that many people to prove you wrong. Once one side wins, their number doubles (or triples).

In the world of zerg math, victory is only attained through a vast numerical advantage, regardless of silly things like “reality”. No one can ever win through superior positioning, tactics, siege placement, etc. Only numbers. Ever.

In summary: Even if we really have less (~30, plus militia), we would still only win because we have more (80, assuming also plus militia).

we almost proved this entire post wrong yesterday in EB was apx 15 (RE) – 50 TA(not sure if it was 1 guild mainly or not) we almost won by kiting effective choke points and attacking the backline of squishies when open (this was open field combat outside between a keep and tower no siege fired)

Had a great night tonight, although some of those arrow cart wars did get quite dull. Many thanks to all servers for a great week thus far.

First this earlier in the week and now screenshots of a commander zerg sporting fireworks.. if we start running around as dolyaks singing about some parade, I’m gonna be so ashamed..

If you insisted on T5-T7, out of those 9 servers I’d pick Borlis Pass – I would really restrain from joining T7. They have such a close match already.

Otherwise, I’d join Sea of Sorrows. They just need a little NA coverage to be a serious contender in T3 with the PvX community to match it. T3 is hopefully going to be pretty competitive in the coming weeks and I don’t think they have issues with queues or skill lag.

I haven’t seen FA as a server so excited to get out in WvW since we fought Blackgate. Our community forums are blowing up with people babbling about GvG’s and brawls.
I personally have given props to PiNK in this match up too, particularly on reset. Other than some encounters with PiNK on reset, I haven’t really experienced any memorable open field or objective based combat with TC this week.

Pretty sure Kylia of AVTR was giving props for TC’s defense of Hills a page back though. You shouldn’t be so quick to turn bitter, Mif – regardless of your history as a ex-FA member or who started what TBH it comes across kind of toxic.
Still hoping SoR will come visit T2 sometime too, I need to see some of their talent I hear about..

I’m shellshocked and exhausted.. 11:40pm.. DB’s SEA force is incredible both in skill and terrifying numbers. My hat is off to you, ladies and gentlemen. Excellent, intense fights with multiple mixed guild groups of DB both in the open field, in small roaming groups and in just about every single camp, tower and keep we have owned today.
I’m proud of FA for banding together to make DB fight tooth and nail for everything we lost. Thanks AVTR for saving my kitten a couple times when I was all lonely in FA BL with outmanned. Cheers to my buddies in PRO for upgrading, sieging and locking FA BL down hard for hours! And Holy Pickle you were awesome out there today, pretty sure I saw you in the middle of 30 red names solo more times than I can count..
