The Guild Wars 2 forums are exclusively for discussion and support regarding Guild Wars 2. If you have in issue with regards to the original Guild Wars, please open a ticket directly with Customer Support.
The forum specialist program was announced to the whole forum via this post in the News and Announcements section and more than adequate time was given for applications to be sent in.
Now, we are not having a discussion on how you feel about who was chosen, because he has yet to have the time to submit a single report yet. If you feel disregarded, blame the others who do post here for not submitting an application.
Now, the WvW forum is not to discuss the merits of this program or those who have been chosen to represent each game mode. If you had been paying attention, you would notice that Marmatt is attempting to reach out and work with the players who do post here, despite the less-than-warm welcome that he has been greeted with.
Consider that he is a volunteer and is acting as a forum specialist in his own free time and of his own free will. To me, that means something. To me, this means that he’s committed to our goal of improving communication between players and the development team. If you think he doesn’t know enough about the game mode to accurately represent your interests, then talk to him. Explain your passions and why you feel the way you do. You might be surprised at how receptive he is.
Now, this is the last time I’m explaining this. We’re not having more threads about Marmatt or why he was chosen and not somebody else who may not have submitted an application. Instead, try working with him, and if you want to apply in the future, keep your eyes on the areas where we make forum-wide announcements.
We are serious about communication, but there appear to be a lot of people who would rather complain about communication than actually attempt to communicate.
I said this in the other thread, and I’ll repeat it here. If you feel Marmatt’s WvW experience isn’t up to snuff to take on this responsibility, keep it to yourself.
Wait it out and see how he does. If, after his stint is up, you still feel he wasn’t up to snuff then apply yourself instead of complaining about it.
The purpose of this thread was not for the lot of you to criticize Marmatt’s credentials as the WvW forum specialist. He created this thread to introduce himself and let you all know that he wants to do the best job he is capable in communicating what the people of this subforum deem important.
If you feel his WvW experience isn’t up to snuff to take on this responsibility, keep it to yourself. Instead, wait and see how he does, and if you still feel he isn’t good enough, maybe apply yourself when his stint is up instead of complaining about it.
He is more than his post count and in-game stats. Give him a chance and who knows, he might just surprise you.

As Colin has previously said, we do not currently have the resources to devote to making GvG into the fourth game mode and properly supporting it. I’m sorry this is a disappointment to some of you, but our focus is currently on the three existing game modes, PvE, WvW and PvP.

Bug Fixes
We already have a Dev Tracker that covers this information. We don’t need a separate thread for these links.
A have an alternative that we are considering.
A little background first. We are only looking at making this change to tidy up the front page of the forum, not hide all old posts. While the archived forums are in their own ‘Archive’ category, they still take up a significant amount of space, and we’re looking to give the front page a cleaner look.
So, let me know what you all think of this alternative plan:
Instead of making the archived subforums unavailable to read, we can ‘unpublish’ the subforums from the front page. These subforums would still be accessible (read-only) via a direct link to the page, but would not show up as links in the forum index.
The archive will be hidden from public view later this month. The posts themselves will not be deleted, but players will not be able to view them, even in their personal post history. If there’s anything in the archive that you wish to save, please do so at your earliest convenience.

We are not currently exploring bitcoin support at this time. With regards to payment options, our current priority is in expanding options for our players in the EU. It’s possible that we might explore bitcoin in the future, but it’s not something we are currently planning for.
I’m not sure where this rumor that the break is to focus on PvP is coming from. The team that works on PvP is very different from the team that works on Living World updates. The break is for the holiday. The 16th is the last release date before people start taking time off to travel or spend with their families. It also happens to be time for Wintersday, which will run from that day until the first update of the new year on January 13.
There isn’t much different between this break and the break we took last year, or the year before, for the same reasons. I understand you’re all excited for episode 8, but it wouldn’t make much sense for Wintersday to happen after the new year.
An update on this. The team is actively working towards a solution for the lag issue many of you have experienced. They have already tried a few potential fixes that did not yield the expected results and are continuing to root out potential causes.
Suffice to say, they aren’t ignoring this problem.
Reading this, then checking the OP’s post date made me almost pass out from laughing.
This thread has been necro’ed recently tho… Two days ago I belive?
Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention to the original post. I noticed the recent posts and had seen an internal discussion recently about the lag situation and wanted to provide a bit of an update.
Hello All,
There was quite a lot of discussion around the proposal of removing white swords from objectives in WvW. We understand there are concerns about how this change might work in practice or how player behavior may change as a result of it. We felt like the best way to understand fully the impact, and give players a chance to see for themselves how it directly changes the WvW experience is to let people try it and see what they think.
We have decided to run a special multi-week event in WvW where we’ll be changing some of the “rules” of WvW for a limited time. This event will feature two major rule changes while it is running: we are planning to remove white swords from objectives, and add points per kill in WvW to the over-all score for the duration of this event. We are currently targeting December for this event but will keep you posted when we have dates nailed down for certain. If this type of event is successful, we may look to do more events like this in the future where for short periods of time the rules of WvW are changed to different rules, scoring and scenarios to help both keep the game fresh, as well as to change up the experience and try new fun things for WvW.
We look forward to your feedback once the event begins, both on the temporary event only changes, as well as the concept of these special events in WvW.Thanks,
JohnAny idea when this will happen? There are some of us really looking forward to trying this stuff out.
Thanks
The temporary rule changes will be implemented with the release on December 16 and will last until the first release of the new year.

Bug Fixes:
The most organized forums I’ve ever seen that had has many Titled topics as this one, did the organization a little differently without eliminating any of the many sub-topics by using the follow format, as an example:
Main Title: Support
Sub Forums: Technical Support
Sub Sub Forum: PC Issues
MAC Issues
Sub Forum: Bugs
Sub Sub Forum: Game Bugs
Forum Bugs
Website Bugs
BLTC Bugsetc., etc., the above is only an example, and though it doesn’t decrease the number of sub forums, what it does do is centralize the sub forums in major categories without jumbling everything into one giant forum that is really impossible to keep track of without a working search feature. Your devs are still going to find it almost impossible to follow threads if everything game related is dumped into a general forum such as Guild Wars 2 Discussion. If however you break up the sub forums into smaller subforums under much larger categories, then they don’t have to wade through 44 different forums to find the one they want, but can specifically go into the sub-sub forum of their choice or need…of course, this is just my opinion, but then again I like information to be clearly segregated.
This forum software does not support what you term as sub sub forums. We are able to create categories and nest subforums within those.

Improvements
Since this thread has run its course and continues to drift off-topic, we’re going to lock it now. Please continue to post your feedback in one of the other existing, active threads.
The PvP update will not replace the regularly scheduled Living World update.
These are all good changes, but I think a lot of us have been most looking forward to a new game mode. It was a lot of people’s #1 priority in the CDI that was run last year, and we’ve been waiting a lot time for it.
As Colin said, a new game mode is something the team is working towards. However, it’s not ready at this time. These other changes are ready, and we’d like to get them out to you on December 2. A new game mode is a serious undertaking that requires a lot of time and work.

The exploits address is for reporting exploits so the team can gather data and work towards a solution to close the exploit. The exploits address is not monitored by Customer Support. CS monitors the in-game reports and tickets opened on the customer support page.
Thanks for the report. The team is aware of the issue and currently working towards a solution. Sorry I can’t provide and ETA for a fix at this time.
