it sounds like your having a sustain issue, because when it comes to burst and power play mesmers can overwhelm elementalists. Thought ele’s have better spike burst, we have better sustain burst with not alot of “sustain”. When im matched with an ele i use a power PU build, so i can get some of that sustain im lacking.

I also find that stealthing helps alot to get them on their long cooldowns. I stealth then blink away so they try to aoe around them, and i just watch and wait for a few seconds while they waste their powerful skills.

Well Hammer is good in Guardian PvE, Guardian WvW Zerg or Warrior WvW Zerg.

The stats are ok for any of those, but you can change the stats later for a better stats set.

hammer warrior in pvp and some pve is also good. Hammer warrior is also meta in roaming as well, so id suggest giving it to his guardian, and getting better stats for his warrior in the future.

It doesnt sound like youve missed anything. Kessex would be the next place to go for map completion. The reason i suggested doing the starter zones is so that you can gain those extra levels since you are starting at the bottom of the map, which is in the 20’s. Theyre also not that far away :p just pop into wvw then use the lions arch gate to get to the hub plaza, and BAM…instant access to every zone.

because you do not like either of those, i would suggest doing queensdale to gain those 2-3 levels your under then going back to kessex. Do all of the beginning areas (queensdale, plains of ashford, caledon forest) then move forward. This is the best way to level and to gain experience with your characters.

^ this. You dont know how many times ive been kicked from high level fractals for not being zerker. Even though im usually the one who is trying to heal the ones who are full zerker.

Just wanted to say that you dont necessarily need ascended armor or weapons to do high lvl fractals except for lvl50. Below 50 you need max 55 AR which can be reached by infusing all Your jewelry with versatile infusions and getting your backpiece/rings (infused) with AR +10’s which are 68g on the TP when i last checked.

Even if you did that with your trinkets, the max you would get would be 60ar. You need the weapons for 70 ar, which is the minimum for lvl 50 fractal. You could spend thousands of gold on +14ar infusions so you truly wouldnt need ascended weapons, but who actually does that XD. This is assuming youve made your backpiece and both of your rings infused.

Thats not the problem, and why it may not get a stickey. The problem is that its SO biased. She only mentions con’s and barely any pro’s in the list. If it was just a summary of the forums posts, and a true list of what people say are pro’s and con’s, i would agree. But the OP put way to much opinion in this list. Good concept, but poor execution.

the stat bonus for a full set of ascended armor is 5%, and 10% for weapons. The only thing that you should get, thats a must, are ascended trinkets and weapons. Other than that you can do high level fractals along with raised stats without having to sink hundreds of gold into an armor set that gives you a bonus of 5%. A full heavy armor set costs ~600g. Based on last weeks prices. Thats my opinion at least :p

1. Celestial d/d ele is the best roaming in the game, its overly OP and has massive sustain along with alot of damage capabilities. Its going to be completely different from warrior, because your going to have to know how to use 4 different weapon sets at the same time.
2. For solo d/d or d/f, for zerging/group staff. (scepter/x can be used for either but isnt as effective for either type of play)
3. full zerker for staff because you’ll be using it mostly for group play. Celestial foundation for d/d is ideal, full celestial is not. Soldiers is a good alternative to the stats for both d/d and staff.
4. Practice practice practice. You must practice roations. Also cantrips for d/d, d/f and arcane skills for staff (imo) use the healing signet for d/d, and ether renewal for staff
5. Profit

Let’s not forget about how superly over OP elementalist would be they could use almost all of their skills .

I have sunrise already on my main character, and i have a friend who is going to finish his twilight within the month. If he were to send me his twilight could i forge eternity then send him eternity? I just want the two skins unlocked (twilight/sunrise) i know the stats on the two legendaries are just ascended.

If you forge eternity you get both sunrise and twilight, while being able to sell eternity. Ive seen people make deals with friends where they would give one person both twilight and sunrise, he would forge it so he got both skins, then the other friend would get eternity. But thats about the only way you could get a legendary skin while being able to still sell it.

Mesmer elite would be too op, if the mesmer ran a condi build. Especially if it was a Maim build. Mesmers would one shot people left and right.

What would the implications be if Anet would make a gemstore item that could unbind a weapon, or skin from your account?
Ive been seeing alot of asking for an item such as this for unmade legendaries that people got bored of trying to make, or other skins that they didnt want because it wasnt quite what they were expecting it to be.

My theory: severe economic crash causing prices to drop so dramatically anet would have to drop item drop chances in order to balance the surge of items being re-sold in the tpost.

obviously it wasnt quite what he expected it to be :p advertisements are often prettier than the actual item. Incinerator on an asura is a tiny red toothpick. (as you can tell, incinerator is my least favorite legendary XD)

But anyway, OP if anet was to make an item that would un-bind items from your account/character it would dramatically drop prices on everything in tpost, and could even cause an economical crash. Many players probably would jump at the opportunity to sell their old weapons.

My favorites are Eternity (only have sunrise right now) and the bitfrost.
I dislike the incinerator the most out of all of the legendaries. The only other one i would even consider getting would be Meteorlogicus, and bolt. But bolt is sooooooo expensive. My favorite of all time though is bitfrost <3

p/d-condi thiefs are the biggest problem from my personal experiences. Especially if they know how to time their venoms well. I bring null field with me always in pvp in case i meet a condi necro/engi/thief.
The best way to counter them (in my opinion) is to stealth when they stealth. Decoy when they initially stealth and build up your illuions. then when you both unstealth as the same time blink and shatter ontop of them. If theyre zerker theyre going to be downed. If theyre condi with dire stats let them use up their venoms on you and drop null field and STAY INSIDE while your inside null field theyre practically powerless for about 6 seconds. Take advantage of your range like what Arikyali.5804 said. I save f4 for emergencies, because im running illusionary persona ill always have at least 1sec for an escape.

Okay so I happened to run into some other players today and to keep it simple, it was painful. So I am going to try dagger/dagger this time. Seems like that would help with dealing a bit more damage.

Dont start with d/d, i would go staff. Get use to switching out of attunements based on your situation “Water=heal” “Earth=defense ie..reflect/barrier” “Fire=DPS” “Air=CC/crit” Then move to d/d, then scepter dagger.

I think its only hard for your FIRST lvl 80. After that you accumulate tomes of knowledge, scrolls and other things (or a 20 levels scroll) that can help speed up the process for future alts. I have 8 lvl 80’s, and within the past two weeks ive gotten a lvl 20 scroll and 9 tomes of knowledge.

Thats not what im talking about :p im talking about the small gifts like the zypher kite, that would be free to those who bought gems within the past month or so. Not the free gifts on the gem store. Although they are widely appreciated.

What ever happened to the small gifts that Anet would send people if they had bought gems within the past month or so? For me, i enjoyed them and actually continued buying gems now and then because they showed (the customer) that they know your buying and are grateful for it. I haven’t seen a gift like that in quite a while. Anyone else with me on this? Or am i the only one who has noticed?

the rock throwing is excellent for range immobil, also as a projectile finisher. REALLY helps d/d when you have a p/p thief or rifle warrior and they try to kite them around. I think its simply lag on your end.

I play D/D roamer and I can tell you Celestial armour is not a must-have. Currently I run PVT armours with pack runes. My accessories are celestial. It takes a bit of gold + laurel + guild commendations, but it worth it IMHO.

And the good thing about celestial ascended accessories is that they are account bound and not profession-specific. So basically you have to buy them only once.

They are replaceable with knight-soldier-berserker-rabid-etc… but the cele always wins stat wise.

My suggestion: If you don’t have 30 days and a crapload of money to craft celestial ascended or exotic, stick to Knight/Soldier and play around with the accessories.

Oh and remember: full celestial is usually bad!

Why is full celestial bad?

its not “bad” per say, its just that the damage output isnt optimal. Having a base of celestial then either zerker or knights would be best. I myself have a half my trinkets and half my armor in celestial, with runes of strength. This allows for around 2k base damage along with a strong sustain.

I use those sigils to apply pressure, while my phantasm are up.

I shatter pretty rarely with this build. The only times I shatter are when I want to interrupt (the might from bountiful interruption plus stopping a heal can be more valuable than the next cycle of phantasm damage), mind wrack when a target is nearly dead, or distortion for stomping.

For sustain chaos armor is your lifeline have it up as much as you possibly can. I tend to use signet of ether because you’ll always have illusions up so you’ll be getting 1.5k heals every few seconds, and it has a little higher cooldown than ether feast. For key bindings , that depends on your preference , I myself like having the shatters in the F keys because I tried having them else where and kept hitting them on accident causing my combo to dissolve. I would suggest rebidding to zxcv because they’re right underneath your movement keys .
Another note of sustain, I sometimes swap out a trait in illusions to have my fourth shatter reflect (in wvw/pvp) it helps usually since every players has some form of range they use.

you could try swaping for the mantra for stability if you know your coming across a hambow war. But thats situational

arcane isnt viable for d/d because the condi clear you can get from cantrips plus regen helps to sustain, and you need evasive arcana because of the earth blast finisher for extra might, and the heals from water.

Raising the level cap would do absolutely nothing, but give more work for anet. Because they would have to then raise the level of any lvl 80 dungeons/boss/mobs/areas. If they were to raise the level cap, they would have to introduce completely new content to compensate for the raise. Such as higher level fractals, higher level areas to explore. A new dragon, so before theyre going to do that, theyre most likely going to release new content before they raise the level cap.

- i always leave guilds right when theyre about to die (i think its a sixth sense XD)
- I hate being in one guild, and guilds that have 100% representation policies.
- I secretly think people with over 10kap have no life, and just play gw all day every day.
- I once ruined a guild because their leader kittened me off
- After playing necro as my first character for the first year of gw, only 4 months ago i learned how to use DS.
- I have 8 characters one lvl 80 of each class, and cant stay on one character (i find it boring )
- I try to find new players and show them elite skills from other classes just to inspire awe in them in order to keep them playing the game.
- I often times go afk when in a dungeon or fractal, because i know they’ll just kick me, and leaving and having them whispering me why is too much of a pain.
- I play gw more than i probably should, and play instead of doing schoolwork for college because i want to escape
- I honestly and totally HATE 90% of active commanders because they 99% of the time feel theyre superior to me, even though ive been playing since the beta and know quite a lot about the game. Maybe even more so than them.
- i feel as though commanding nowadays is a name game, and not about having an actual commander to follow.
- ive been in just about every major/minor guild on NSP, and left each one for usually no reason.
- when i started my own guild, (which at its peak had over 400 players and 40 on active at one time) just to get back at another guilds leader.
- i think exploration is one of the most boring things to do in the game.
