Yes. It will be from a large chest, most likely from a major event. I get your point.

I considered that event as well, but after the other event I ran in Brisban, I don’t think Final Rest is going to drop on a low level map.

Running an event once isn’t indicative of anything though. We already know that level 80 stuff can drop from lower level events(ex: Shadow Behemoth), so that doesn’t rule anything out.

I’m not basing it on number of times run, but on type of loot given. It’s unlikely that a chest spitting out white/green will be dropping legendaries. There is a certain (albeit hidden) logic to where the best loot is located. Even the major events that take place on low level maps don’t give out loot that’s all that great. That’s what my assumption is based on.

i got to disagree, frozen maw and shadow behemouth drop level 80 rare/exotics

Hi, I just wanted to give an update. First, I’d like to apologize for setting off such a firestorm of speculation—I was trying to provide assurance that Final Rest is, indeed hooked up and working, but it’s not likely to have dropped yet. Like I said, the odds that I posted were a quick calculation after looking at the drop chance, how often the event runs, and other factors.

On a totally unrelated note, large event chests are being upgraded to make them more rewarding, so the odds of Final Rest and other rare items appearing should see an increase in a future update.

truely good new, i suspect this is that was hinted at in reagards to addressing obtaining precusors as well by j.smith. i really enjoy doign the events and lot foward to better loot!

A lot of bundle items have been turned off while within WvW since launch. If you think you’ve found a bundle item that should be added to that list feel free to post it in this thread, send me a PM, or send in a bug and someone from the team will look into it.

Gears, Skale Venom and Spikeroot Fruit have been removed, but you wont see the changes until the next build.

well done, thanks for the update

Let’s say you have a guild of 5 people and 0 AoW unlocks today. Ignoring any influence gains from activities you need 73 gold to unlock all the tiers, or 14.6 gold per person.

I don’t mean to single you out Crimsony, many have illustrated this point.

But, to be fair, why not charge every player in the game 14.6g to access the new content?

Why tax the small guilds?

“Help! I’m being repressed!” lol

devil’s advocate here….

the price of keeping your guild small is that you earn influence slower, take longer to upgrade and now take longer to unlock guild mission. nothing new here.

I’m concerned that our guild has been hard gated out of building this new content ourselves. At our current rate of influence gain, without mass recruiting people which we will not do, we’re looking at 60+ days of influence gathering plus build time to get AoW to lv 5. Please reconsider introducing missions that smaller tier guilds can initiate, possibly starting around 1k influence to build. With that floor, even single person guilds can amass enough influence in a week or two of casual playing to at least initiate one mission.

Why dont you just buy influence with gold?

To some of us, 78g is quite a bit. Running dungeons and farming mats are both unfun, as well as TP flipping…as I said in the previous thread, if I wanted another job I’d get one, video games are supposed to be fun.

you said you would be locked out for 60+ days, even if some of your guild buys influence, that time will be cut way, way down. what does your guild have 10 members? can they each toss in a couple gold? if is that urgent and that much or a priority to you and your guild, you can make it happen.

5, among whom only I play for any significant amount of time each day.

oh, then with the very limited info we have been given about these event, it does appear you are out of luck. i dont belive these events will be geared to only 2 or 3 people at a time.

Exactly. I was hoping to be able to get everyone together for a few hours a couple weekends this month to try whichever events we could unlock, but obviously that’s out of the picture. I’m not asking to be able to do everything and get all the rewards, but to be completely unable to unlock a single mission with 5k+ influence is very disheartening.

ive got into finding all the dynamic events i might have missed in the world and doing those, this could be a fun activity for you and your guild to do that doesnt require influence or more numbers.

these events still have not lauched yet, we know next to nothing still, maybe there will be somethign for you, i hope there is!

Here’s a few ways of making 3-4 gold a day taking 1-1.5 hours a day. At that rate, NOT including drops, you will be able to afford the ENTIRE Art of War level in 5 days with a 5 person guild group.

1) AC exp paths 1-3

2) CoF (Path 1>1>2)

3) Tradepost flipping

4) Ori-ore farming in Frostgorge Sound or Orr

5) Material flipping from Mystic Forge (granted, has RNG)

I’m sure there are more ways…but it will take a guild of 5 people 5 days…at 1.5 hours a day.

And during that time they’re not having any fun whatsoever. If I wanted more work I’d pick up a second job, this is a game.

Exactly, this is a game, so you might have to a couple weeks to be able to trigger guild events. so whats the big deal? realistically, it is not out of the reach of any sized guild, if you think it is so important and that big of a priority, then as a guild, get together and make it happen.

I have no idea what the rational is behind the laurel pricing. But I know this, there is nothing they could do to get me in fractals. Ever.

i thought the same thing until i started doing FotM with all guild member groups, now i have 2 rings and a backpiece in less than a month. they can be real fun and rewarding, but as they say, to each their own.

OK, time to use some actual numbers, and may the gods forgive me for doing so. I’m going to use my mesmer as he’s set up right now with a relatively balanced build. Here’s the numbers:

Ascended Amulet: 126 power, 85 precision, 9% crit
Ruby-ori Berserk: 115 power, 79 precision, 8% crit
Base: 1867 power, 1684 precision, 35% crit

The Ascended amulet is replacing the Ruby Orichalcum amulet of the berserker. The base numbers are without an amulet equipped at all. The ascended amulet gives me an increase of 11 power, 6 precision and 1% critical damage. In other words, after changing amulets we see this:

Power: 1982 -> 1993
Precision: 1763 -> 1769
Crit dmg: 44% -> 45%

C’mon people… are you really stressing over numbers this marginal? You can practically change a gem and have a bigger impact.

Yeah, but what will happen when full Ascended Gear is available? 10% more crit for example definitely makes a difference.

Yeah, but we have no idea how you will obtain ascended armor, might be easier (might be harder). Just wait for the rage when some ascended gear (maybe earings, maybe armor) will be obtainable via WvW only, forums are gonna be a sight to see then.

That’s a really, really good point too.

i love WvW so wont be a problem for me, but it is not a stretch to think there will be WvW exclusive ascended items. The pattern of restricted exclusivity has been already established : backpieces from FotM, ammultes from Laurels.

If i had to guess, pure speculation, id say in march we will see earings from WvW, then later in the year ascended armor from karma (however they might just allow upgrades from our current exotic sets, wont be cheap). i would think the armor pieces will be added slowly to correspond with new karma vendors from newly released content.

just guessing here

probably because this game is not designed to be farmed.

What about when you need to craft something but you can’t ever get the items requied because of horrible drop rates? Just buy it right, well have fun doing that every time you need to do something. This brings up another issue, DR. Have fun farming for endless hours. You say it’s not designed to be farmed, but thats probably 80% of this game.

80% grind lol……….. Aion is 80%, FFXI is 250%. Everyone says mats, but which mats specifically are people looking for.

I realize other games are grind orientated, but this game was touted as a non-grind type, yet look at the achievements for WvW and some of the legendary requirements, these are two minor examples because there are many more.

But there needs to be something keeping people playing. You can’t just have everyone “beating” the game in a month. Its an MMO after all and requires consistent material to keep it interesting. These things are time sinks, optional at that. And they may require what some consider grind, but barely anything in this game is “essential” and the best things in game that aren’t about looks take very little time to achieve.

What will keep people playing is more content not weapons and skins which pretty much composes the end game now. They are time sinks however GW2 was never supposed to be that, maybe it was just viral marketing and they were being unhonest when they said it was a game for casuals. The last time PvE got real content was the lost shores event.

GW2 was always about weapons and skins, i.e legendary weapons.

this game is very casual friendly, please provide examples for what a casual player is resstrict from participating in and maybe people can directly address your concerns.

for PvE content, expansions will come in time, very likely one this year (in the fall)

Drop rates/tables, like has been addressed before, in many threads. Most of my casual playing friends quite this game a long time ago because of the previous stated issue. It’s very hard to play a game when you don’t even have money to teleport.

If you have no money and die, teleporting is free.

Everyone should get much gold, no matter how much effort they put in. Everyone should get the same amount of reward. Because that’s the way the world works so the game should be this way too. Oh wait.. that’s communism.

And if players are hunting these champs all day your going to most likely never make it to the event before they are dead. See: Maw. There are usually more 80’s at Maw than in all of the WvW area. This what you will have in every area if this were to happen.

Have you even downed any champs? They usually take at least 5 mins (with a really well co-ordinated team) to down. Im pretty sure most players in the zone can make it to them within 5 mins (aslong as someone shouts in zone chat that the champ is up – as what usually happens anyway).

Also, having alot of 80s spread about the open world can NEVER be a bad thing… since anet designed their systems to be based of co-operation rather than competition.

It doesn’t pay off to go to any other zone as an 80. With DR the only reason to go to a lower level zone is if you need mats or some sort of achievement.

But they do. I could post tons of pictures where level 80’s are all but in an alliance at Maw a level 15ish event. Where 60 people are at the level 60 dragon, WVW is empty, and level 60’s are in queensdale killing the troll or Wasp Queen.

I could do the same, and really it’s all dependent on your server. Some servers are completely abandoned in these aspects while others flourish but that brings me back to my original point, it pays better to be in a higher level zone. Why would I be in a level 15 zone [even with scaling] when I could be in a level 80 zone making money?

I think because it is quick, most people can finish maw in a few minutes like low level dragons. And they get a chest which has a chance at rares/exotics which are scaled to level 80. Which of course are worth more. But its an option not a way of playing 100% of the time. Orr does get monotonous even for someone like me who farms for hours and loves to grind heh :P

I haven’t received anything past a green since november from a Chest. I’ve done all the dragons, many of the world bosses, tons of dungeons, fractals as well. The most drops I’ve ever received when was I was grinding pent/shelt for a while, I made like 80s an hour with full MF gear. Hell I received better items from jumping puzzles than any other thing in the game.

I’d say about 1/4 of the time i get an level 80 rare from the Maw chest and sometimes the ice elementals also drop level 76 and up rare items.

I understand that our zerg outnumbers your zerg some/most of the time. But zerg on zerg action does not happen all over the map all the time. And if we are not hitting queue for the map, it can not be that bad. Perhaps out zerg is better organized and moved from objective to objective faster because they are doing the right things. I do know that we communicate fairly well, especially lately.

Havent seen a queue on FC on any map (except at match reset) in a long, long time….months (maybe ever?). I see outmanned buff very, very often. so yeah, there’s that.

I’ve tried to offer any advice by telling people exactly what I do (flamethrower, full group, high magic find, change zones, go to WvW, etc). The information that me and the person you call a troll is actually quite helpful. It reveals any loot problems not to be an overall issue in the game that affects everyone, but an issue that only affects a selected population of players. If you can’t see the usefulness of this information, then you really have no business posting in this thread as you have nothing constructive to offer.

You think two rares per event should be the normal drop rate? Is this the general consensus? Seems a little high to me, would certainly have an effect on the market.

It doesn’t work “very well” with the flamethrower didn’t you check last patch notes? it got nerfed.

•Life-stealing food buffs based on critical hits no longer affect gadgets.

Yes by gadgets they mean bundles thus kits

Why do you post this without checking if you are right or not? All this does is spread misinformation since you are clearly mistaken.

IMO drop has been increased by quite a bit since the jan update, the sheer number of large bag drops in Orr has easily doubled leading to many more T5 and T6 mats. Heck you can even sell the bags. Also rares are dropping much more often for me and anyone I’ve talked to in game. Only legit complaint I see on my server is that there are just so many people farming in cursed shore the mobs are getting killed too quick, looks like launch month.

It is a great food buff available to all that works very well with the flamethrower.

Thanks for uploading the videos, these are really the only concrete evidence of loot results that I can think of. Hopefully more people decide to upload, especially those who are having issues.

How about one of you guys with ‘permanent DR’ record 30-60 minutes of you farming pent/shelter/Jofast, link video on here and let’s see your loot, make you loot auto or inventor bag after. I suggest that location because I often see many rares drops there. This is the only proof I can think of that might actually drawn more attention to your issues. Again, don’t flame me, my loot is very good and I am just trying to help you enjoy the game more.
