We run guild groups, certainly not a toxic environment and definitely a lot of fun. Everyone in TS and have been playing together for years now.

Join a fun, non-elitist focused guild and enjoy the game! With even just a bit of Patience and communication, you’ll be downing the bosses soon enough. I couldn’t imagine playing with people who do gear checks and rage quit after the first wipe. That’s not my idea of fun.

Level 3 isn't delivering packets

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Medazolam.3058

Medazolam.3058

Sounds more like an issue with Comcast in CT or maybe the L3 gateway in Boston. I’m on DSL in CT with Frontier (don’t judge) and it seems fine. As my PingPlotter shows I’m hopping through Virginia, DC and then onto the L3 backbone.

It is not Comcast. A Comcast VPN from Hartford is routed to NYC without going to Boston. Going from NYC to Arenanet is no problem using Comcast.

Bypassing Boston solves the problem, which is clearly with Level 3, and not Comcast.

If you need additional explanation about how this works, let me know.

To Arenanet, someone get to Level 3, and have them fix the issues which seem related to Boston.

Can you send me a basic guide how to do this? Thanks in advance

Also having an issue in CT. Been talking with some other folks and the theory is there is a problem with the Level 3 nodes we use to reach ArenaNet. What do we about it though, complain to Level 3?

"Log in to unlock story content"?

Medazolam.3058

If you read instead of overreacting…

No, you both can’t understand context and took a single word too literally, at the expense of the entire paragraph.
I know all you have to do is log in. I’m not brain damaged, I wrote that fact down myself. Twice.
The point is, if you miss the event you can’t go back to it. So why have the journal?
If you’ve logged in then you’ve very likely played it anyway. The typical Living Story update can be seen in its entirety after 1-2 hours. After that you’re just grinding out enemies or mini games for rewards.

you should really look into this topic a bit more before such an overreaction. all your questions have been answered elsewhere, many times over.

Magic Find on foods still working?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Medazolam.3058

yes MF on food still works, as does the MF infusion for the utility slot on a ascended amulet. I routinely run 300-400% MF while doing cursed shore events, in my opinion there is a very noticeable difference in the amount of rares and T6s mats I get than when I do those events with less MF active.

I wonder if this is their idea of permanent content.

How is it not?

If the story modes that we’re going to be able to access are in a similar vein to the Zhaitan encounter, I couldn’t care less if we have permanent access to it.

It all depends on what kind of events they implement, but I’d really just prefer that they introduce new zones and such instead of story encounters that I’ll do once and then be done with forever.

id say odds are pretty good for a new zone on july 1st.

People complaining about engie turrets? my god, now ive seen everything. I see no need to rehash the points already made in this thread, but it should take people all of about 5 min to realize how to avoid/destroy the turrets.

can you please explain?

the turrets cant move, have limited range, dont attack all that often, have very low HP and have long cool downs. engie drops turret, you got a few option, some are to back off and kill it, drop stability and melee it, or get our of range on the other side of the node. Honestly the turrets HP is so low, they don’t last long at all. all this is just my take on the issue

GW2 is a superior game to almost every MMO in the western industry atm and Wildstar/ESO are both average ones. People would like WS/ESO for a fresh experience however neither bring anything major to the industry.

Are you being sarcastic ? What did GW2 bring to the mmo industry ? Zergs pvp zerg pve and more zergs, zerker meta, lame storyline(traherne), repetitive combat, boring dungeons ( stacking, etc), hearts are not fun, unbalanced classes. Shall i go on ?

It brought a truly cooperative rather than a competitive PvE experience that no other game has so far matched. Might not be your thing but it’s definitely my thing.

yeah I cant imagine going back to a game where you compete for kills, resource nodes or to loot the chest first (looking at you ESO for that last one), not saying GW2 invented these, but they sure add to the overall enjoyment of the PvE experience

They respawn shortly after looted by one for the other, patience grasshopper, but I prefer the GW2 loot system(even if it is all garbage).

yes you are correct, you can wait a short bit. But have a person jet right in front of you and rob that chest/node just brought back that unwanted feeling of older MMOs

Gw2 has no monthly fees
that’s what sells me on this game

I completely rufuse to support subscription based games as they are nothing more than a colossal rip off

Gw2 proves you can make a superb high quality MMO and not extort money from your fanbase every month

I would never have gotten into MMO’s or online gaming for that matter if it was not for Guildwars 1 and its no monthly fee policy

Really? I’ve had the exact opposite experience. Never have I seen a game rip you off more than GW2. I mean $100 a month on average to access all the games content… I’d gladly pay a pitiful $15 a month for the same privilege with the added bonus of the devs not purposefully designing inconveniences into the game to sell you stuff.

I disagree, there are games where you need to buy quest packs, certain races, mounts, classes, etc that is locked behind the cash shop. GW2 is not one of those games. you can not spend a dollar in the cash shop and still participate in everything some one who drops that $100 a month on skins, buffs, etc. I see you consider ‘skins’ to be essential content, I don’t think most people agree with you on that point. Id be happy to reconsider my opinion if you have specific examples of gameplay being cash shop dependent in GW2.

Infinite continue coin, watchwork pick, and airship pass are the 3 that come to mind right away. The coin and the pass are both examples of inconvenience deliberately being added to the game in order to sell an item. They nerfed the drop rate of coins by like 90% then introduced the coin in the gem shop the next day. They deliberately left out the crafting stations at vigil keep to make people either need to go through an additional 2 load screens, or buy a gem store item. The watchwork pick has taken it a step further in the fact that currently the only way for a new player to get watchwork sprockets is to either buy them from players with the pick or buy the pick themselves.

Additionally, since stat progression is not the goal of GW2, the only thing to work for at max level is cooler appearance items. However 99% of the new appearance items are locked behind the cash shop.

And no matter how loud people yell and scream it, converting gold to gems is not an effective solution. I should be able to earn the rewards by playing the game. I shouldn’t need to grind gold 50 hours a week just to get access to gem store items.

Again, I asked what gameplay is locked behind the cash shop. I guess maybe the musical instruments, but the items you listed are not examples of gameplay accessible to only gemshop costumers who spend “$100 a month”. convenience items are not gameplay.

You come to the wrong place if you don’t want to see complaints, gw2 forums are about on par with other game forums, mostly negative. People love to complain, it’s a fact. However less threatening to leave threads since it is a buy to play, sub games have forums that are about 25% full of ‘do this or I’ll leave’ threads. I find it amusing that people get so worked up over a game, but hey, who am I to judge?

What Bronze servers gained/lost people?

Lower Tiers, how are the transfers?

in WvW

Posted by: Medazolam.3058

Medazolam.3058

[vT] recently transferred from BP to Ferguson’s Crossing.

Being a small-man guild, we were basically tired of the nonstop 50-70+ zergs that had nothing better to do than chase us around every time we stepped foot in a camp.

[Krew], [EmP] and [d0] also all transferred to FC (it was Krew’s idea for us to transfer with them, I admit, the other two guilds came a couple days later unexpectedly, which was cool).

Having gotten to fight the NSP groups, Darkhaven groups, Devona’s groups and Anvil Rock groups in the past two weeks, I’d like to say personally that this is the best choice we’ve made for our guild in quite some time. We were dubious that there wouldn’t be any fights to have, and uh, that’s just not true. There’s been fights any time of the day that we want, and that’s awesome.

There’s plenty of skilled roaming groups that we’ve come across, which is a nice change from the unskilled nature of most small groups in the higher tiers. DR, in particular, seems to have quite some solid groups that we’ve never gotten a chance to see before.

PS. We killed an ANet Mesmer on NSP the first night we were on FC. My battlecry was “I gotta go get ’em! To avenge the D/D Ele!” ;]

Welcome to FC! I saw Krew guys on last night, prob you others too (im AoE guild leader, we WvW a good bit). Yes we have many skilled roaming groups/guilds on FC and the lower tier servers allow these small fights to happen pretty often. Not sure id even play WvW if it was non-stop zerg all the time. again welcome!

I’d love this idea. 20 badges per tome

20? id think it’d have to be around 200 to be on par with similar costs for previous tomes, but that’s just like my opinion, man.

ah see, wvw badges income varies

With tpvp the amount can be predicted… but if you’re a romaer in wvw it could take hours to get 20 badges. If you’re on a losing server there will be no trains.

General rule of thumb is an horus work for a tomb. 200 is 8 horfus work on some servers.

e.g. I roam in wvw… I’d be luck to get a tomb in a week, let alone an hour at 200 badges

point taken, might be difficult to find a ‘fair’ price.

almost, both shift the player population onto same servers yet mergers result in less total servers, transfers do not.

Also on FC, the world boss train has really created a atmosphere where people wait for reset to do the big world boss events/temples. Hello FC players,

AoE is an all purpose guild that has been in the game since launch. We are a fully upgraded guild that does PvE, WvW, and sPvP. We keep guild MF and Karma buffs up 24/7. We run ALL guild events weekly to get those guild commendations. We also have our own PvP arena that we hold guild events in weekly. The time zones for our guild players are both east coast and west coast, with most events happening at 9 pm EST on weekdays.

We also have a our own teamspeak channel (recommended not required to use), a website (less active now), a facebook page (very active now) and are welcoming recruits of ALL levels and experience. Our 2 rules for joining are 100% rep (we believe in building a consistent guild community) and we have a zero tolerance for hate or inappropriate speech on guild chat or TS.
