There are some very delicate people in this thread.
Might as well contribute.
What I am reading in this thread is that some very special people are getting very upset because they can read some words that they (and I) find distasteful. Whilst I can agree that there are many words that I do not like and many people that utter them that I do not like, the need to demand Anet to amend their existing policies and retrain agents is absolutely ridiculous and more insulting than a word read on map chat.
The reason I would find many of the attitudes in this thread so insulting is because they seem to be born from some complete arrogance: I don’t like this so it shouldn’t be around. I can’t control this so it should be altered. I can’t change this so it should be controlled via a top-down source.
This apparent need to control every social element of a space is considerably more insulting than someone saying “lolkittens” in map chat.

i love LS and everytime i see a new image/photo/video it’s like see a new trailer of GoT for me xD
Said no one ever.
OP goes in the top 10 most kittening kittened things I’ve read on this forum.
Of all the problems with the living story, I cannot believe some SJW has the nerve to complain about this and detract attention from the real issues (that is, LS is crap).
Very well known bugs since release, these two meta events are notorious for stalling, complicated now with the collection achievements and megaserver.
If these events cannot be reliably fixed, then is it possible for them to be trimmed? Removal of problematic events like Fridgardr being permanently dredge controlled or Maybri Shadowstalker not spawning, becoming stuck inside of Foulbear, Legionnaire Slashclaw not spawning or any other of list of bugs that occur, would be appreciated.
Lastly, here’s a picture of a quaggan with an umbrella.
Maybe the population problem can be fixed without actually doing anything to server populations. That is, develop tools that permit players or small teams to employ guerrilla warfare tactics – stealth, surprise attacks, speed and supply route control.
To be honest, I felt every single step of this installment of the Living Story was badly written. On every level it felt like a failure to make what was supposedly going on match what was actually going on.
The tasks we had to fulfill to get the leaders to attend the summit felt like contrivances. They could have been completed by anyone. Take the crown (a very important item that we’ve never heard of until just now), for example. It could have been retrieved by any of the warbands stationed in the Black Citadel. But we’re supposed to believe it’s such a monumental undertaking that only we can handle it. The fragments were literally lying in piles of rubble. Rytlock could have easily retrieved these items. Hell, the custodian that cleans his office could have retrieved them.
Then, as you said, the character relationships felt like cop outs. Braham goes from “I don’t want anything to do with my mother” to “my mom is the COOLEST!” after one fight. Whitebeard goes from “we can’t help you because we have to an Elder Dragon to contend with” to “we’ll help you with your problems because you killed a handful of Elder Dragon minions for us” after we do what any notable norn could have handled.
The process of swaying these leaders to attend the summit, if they didn’t want to, should have had entire installments dedicated to them. Convincing Whitebeard to get on board should have been an it’s own release. By cramming them all into one release, all of them felt flat. There was no organic growth with any of the characters involved. Things went from “no” to “yes” with the flip of a switch. That’s not good writing.
I’ll agree 100% here.
During GW1, getting the Norn to even talk about joining up to defeat the Destroyers was hard enough (hell, Jora even said to Ogden “We will not change our ways because of Dwarves that do not understand us” or words to that effect.
Understandably, the Norn have changed in the past 250 years! They have a main city now and cooperate a lot more, but the lone hunter culture still persists and this living story update just did not make any sense regarding that.
Anet has already kitten all over Norns in gw2, so this literary travesty is easily swept under the rug, but bloody hell Anet, step up your game.
Ending point:
If you want to release updates akin to that of a developing television series, keep your writing as strong as one would expect that of a solid show.
RNG is RNG, don’t get so upset about outliers getting x amount of fossils in x amount of chests.
and then Kasmeer was also representing a guild, but only Kasmeer – oddly enough the LGBT guild:
LOL I’m in Our Sanctuary (LGBT)!
found a recording of it:

Problem:
Downloaded seemingly most of the patch until the patcher stalled @ 1 file. Download speed drops and phantom file just keeps on getting downloaded until the launcher reports that a connection error has been detected. Never reconnects.
Attempts at fixing:
Google DNS
Turn off firewall/antivirus
Deleting the local bat and restarting
Disabling all non-windows services and startup applications
Spotflux
Altering ~host files
Using level3 as DNS
Screaming at computer
Compounding problems:
I’m using a dongle! Yay! We had to severe our contract with our former ISP and have been using dongle internet until our new ISP hooks us up (friday this week, thank kittening god).
I have 6gig remaining of my download limit \o/.
Changing language packs on the launcher results in 15k files being downloaded. Having 1% @ 40mb makes me very wary of trying this fix given my circumstance.
n.b.: I’m Australian on Vodafone Dongle (until friday). And I’m guessing no gw2 for me until Friday :[
I’ve been trying to download this new patch for almost 4 hours now. I downloaded the last patching using the kittening awful and expensive dongle internet with no issues.

I’ve turned my firewall off/deactivated antivirus and yet this illusive 1 file still remains
We also had problems doing our weekly guild missions due to maps being megaserver’d. As I said in map chat:
“I can see this becoming very annoying very quickly”. Very large guilds are going to be hit hard with this one.
Loving the wardrobe feature! Bought the ring master’kitten in the hopes it would be useable in combat one day ^____^
(eh some weird censoring going on :S)

I, like many others, absolutely loathed Scarlet’s character. I admit I started to feel something towards Scarlet when I read her journal. Learning about Ceara humanized her and, for the first time, the seemingly “mary-sue lunatic” finally became understandable and I could sympathize with the character.
Her death was almost bittersweet. I felt bad for Ceara mostly. Whilst Scarlet was a monster, Ceara was just a brilliant and innocent Sylvari.
My critical opinion of Scarlet is similar to the OP’s in that:
a) she wasn’t introduced very well and the initial hatred of her was very warranted
a.1.) although maybe this was intended, to make her a deplorable character from
the get go and introducing a lot of mystery into the character.
b) withholding information regarding Scarlet and her intentions was well done. The mystery and intrigue really helped her character/the LS.
c) Scarlet was humanized very well through the diaries and NPC interaction (Caithe (TA), The Pale Mother, Vorp, DE 2.0 etc). Good use of character development in an interactive narrative.
Overall, very surprised I ended up liking Scarlet. Nevertheless, may she rot in peace on the compost heap.
I just hope they aren’t doing more zone invasions that no one completes.
And in that vein, in the future I hope they do zone invasions that are more involving.
They should make the Wurm spawn in LA, right next to the mystic forge, to encourage player participation.
1. Scepter – it sucks.
2. Confusion in pve. It’s ultra lame.
Here’s my mesmer, rocking some HoM gear, trickster and zojja’s ascended gear, along with Eternity.
You are not prepared. TC and our amazing ERP will destroy you!
Spending a massive amount of time trying to get to the top of the platforms when there is no real surefire strategy to accomplish the task is just fail and disrespectful to us players.
This has to be a joke.
You’re doing fotm, so you will likely have a guardian in your group – problem solved right there. Do it one by one – you can range them through the platforms at the start location as well – use ground based AOE attacks.
Reflection skills and stability, along with a group that has an iota of patience makes it more trivial than it already is. It’s seriously not hard, ever.
If you are a mesmer, just get 3 (untraited) iwardens up.
I expect to have dredge stage to format your pc next update just so the challenge is more fun….
LOL.
I’m up to lvl45 in fotm. Got my last ascended piece and am rocking 45ar, but I’m just continuing leveling up to 50 for the hell of it, really. The rewards do suck. The time involvement is either alright (swamp/ocean/urban(or uncatagorized) or god awful (swamp or water/grawl/dredge(/cliffside). It’s just not a good recipe.
They need a fractal team, it just has such vast possibilities.
If they make something as awful as dredge fractal again though, I will likely never set foot in Dessa’s lab.
The champion adds that spawn during these events is just so bad it’s hilarious.
On lyssa, we had the pink gorilla of doom – easy 20k boulder to the face and it’s leap would just crush me for over 30k dmg.
Grenth – lol champion wraith. Grenth is the easiest event to troll now. One player standing on Jonez will fail it should the wraith put a well under him.
Really wishing Orr was under the sea again.
Mesmers are noblemen and women – we’re posh, not brutish. We’re the upper crust. We chill with Queens and flay people with their minds. Embrace your noble side!
oh god, I lol’d.
I use deception to blink away from people trying to heal me.
Agony damage is increased in the respective tiers; 10-19, 20-29, 30-39 and 40-49 (with 50 just being sad)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Agony_Resistance
^ a table showing how much you will need for each tier.
It’s getting a bit frosty in here. Badum-tshhh
I have 7 of those tickets and am not sure what weapons I want, as I don’t really like any, so I hope they stay available for purchase for some time yet.
T2 cultural with Temple and HoM pieces.
Greetings. I’ve recently matched a perfect ensemble for my mesmer, but have run into an issue with clipping. What’s curious is when I was log into another computer today, I noticed the chest piece was not clipping through the shoulder piece. I’ve played around in graphical settings, wondering if someone may have a solution I have missed.
Here’s some images, with another random shoulder piece I had to show that the chest piece does not clip through all armour types.
And I just realized I posted this in the wrong sub forum! >___<
Yeahh that happens sometimes. Last week I put 4 rare greatswords in and got a bow. Zommoros was probably going to give you a precursor but changed his mind.
Stop standing on the ledge, dieing from the dot damage and help clear the ice pillars.
Last Clawmag I did, I noticed a cluster of fallen player signs on my minimap – people on that kitten ledge eating the snow, with only a handful of us helping the golems. Boggles the mind.
I have all the gifts collecting dust in my bank.
Just waiting on that Dawn, then I will have Sunrise.
I agree with Xadirius, morale is either comical or disastrous. Given the circumstance, it too easily sways between the two extremes, never finding balance. If you’re on an event and worrying about morale, it’s pretty much all over.
Yes there is.
The chest will spawn only after retaking the temple – not defending. Also, it, like grenth, will spawn after the “defend x” preceding event is complete.
You may read people in chat requesting that people let the defense of temples fail, that is why.
Hi, yes there is an issue with this event.
Firstly, it needs to be tagged as a Group Event, because it really is. The issue is the risen nobles will auto aggro on the NPCs and shadowstep onto them putting down a rune that does over 1k dmg a second. The large amount of risen nobles you face during this event makes it impossible to solo although you might wing it if you are a guardian, which brings us to the next issue.
Due to the event scaling and the risen nobles and the risen hands that spawn when you are near the anchorage (they throw a poison cloud grenade right at the NPCs on spawn) a guardian is near essential, to bubble the NPCs.
Risen noble nerf is unlikely, a swap of risen nobles to jesters during the event, maybe. But, surprisingly, the risen are not the worst problem. The event auto-starts.
Upon respawning, Warmaster Chan will give a speech and the NPCs will run to their deaths a few meters down from Meddler’s point (lol risen nobles).
If any change is to be made, it is that the event must be started by a player, and marked as a Group Event.
edit – almost forgot, a cluster of risen nobles and some jesters will pool at the end of this event, just near the anchorage. I think this may be from previous failed attempts; the spawned nobles leash back just near the anchorage, leaving a big kitten surprise for anyone trying to finish the event. They do not despawn upon failure, and just keep pooling. Obviously a problem.
One person can kill them all, bleeding them out using pulls (I did this just 10mins ago) but that does not negate the fact that it is an unintended problem.

1) – precursors and fotm. Remove the hardcap on FOTM and increase the chances of receiving a precursor the higher above 50 you go. This allows us to work towards the chances of getting a precursor whilst being harder than playing the TP.
There are programs around that allow you to submit co-ordinates to the server, porting your character to them. It’s popular with quickly doing the puzzles for badges, as well as getting to unreachable areas to set up siege (arrow carts, mainly). Clearly against the ToS so watch for their names when they pop up.
Pink quaggans are very mesmer-y if I do say so myself.
