You just however made my point. I could care less what other MMOS have RNG or LFG spam, i am concerned with GW2 not other MMOS.

But this is not just any activity but legendary that are supposed to be challenging and actually feel like a legendary task.

As far as ‘lfg spam’ you missed the point again. I don’’t spam LFG, i could care less about dungeons till they implement some tool for it. I am talking about the spam in general which forces me to shut the general off especially being on populated server that is all you can read in your chat box.

Maybe part of your player skill is being a lucky player? If you’re not there’s always the 1 clover recipe which is far more predictable than the 10 clover recipe.

Sorry but since when luck got anything to do with player skills? i am down with collecting mats and everything but give me a challenge. Keep legendaries rare and unique. I don’t want it easy but this whole RNG thing is such a bad design and cop out.

I would rather go through a process like in EQ and EQ2 to get pre legendaries rather than keep throwing rares and exotics in mystic forge to get lucky. No skills involved in that.

Damage has already been done. Players already know what servers are best when it come to PVP. Those who wanted to jump the ship, have already done so.

Now the real question is that if the servers who are lacking in W v W would get new folks or not. Something i really doubt.

OP asked a rhetorical question. He already saw how people farm and he is disappointed. By telling him the same thing that i did that people stick to plinx trains, shelter and pentitent in that one area, you are not helping her change her mind about how Cursed Shore zone works.

Yes that is what is happening in Cursed Shore. Blame it on bad design of the zone. High mob density, contested waypoints, high fee for teleports… why would people move around when they can just farm Plinx, penitent and shelter?

If Anet wants the players to actually roam around and do other events they need to have another look at ORR and make some changes to it.

Thats the thing i dont understand… spending time doing events, wvw, pvp, dungeons isnt that enough. Why do you need luck to get the precursor? IMHO for someone to get the precursor should be based on how much time and effort they put into the game NOT by chance or luck. I put so much effort and spent 10 hours every day (since the three day head start) farming for gold, items, mats etc and what happened at the end i lost everything. It hurts but thats problem i need to deal with. Hope Arnet looks into this.

This whole thing seems to be designed to push players more towards the CS I mean for someone who lost 100 gold over this…he might breakdown and just end up buying gems to convert them to gold instead of farming it all over again.

I don’t even understand why is there a need for such extreme RNG? did devs run out of ideas and this was the easiest way out of it? why not just increase amount of materials required to make legendary more if you just want to extend grind.

That won’t work. If an area is regularly farmed, all it’s loot will fall into three categories:
– Vendor trash. It’s only value is selling it to the vendor for a fixed price. Giving the players the gold directly has the same effect.
– Items, or ingredients of items, to sell to other players. Which will have its price decline due to it being oversupplied by farmers until it becomes vendor trash.
– Bind on pickup items. Useless unless you want those items for yourself.

So by guaranteeing a rare drop, you’ll just crash the price on rares. Then someone will come along saying they should guarantee exotics, using the exact same reasoning you used to say guarantee rares.

This would be true if not for the fact that players receive more rares doing events that dont have end chest rewards simply because they kill more things. With the exception of perhaps grenth, the rares would probably be about equal, perhaps slightly more common but I have my doubts about a total crash.

At the very least the end rewards need to be SOMETHING better than they are. As it stands you have a very very very very very very very low chance of getting anything valuable out of that end chest, and it’s clearly not enough to entice players.

Adding a rare to chest every time you complete the event and adding a chance of getting an exotic might help. Because right now whether people want to believe it or not it is all about the loot.

I will go for 100% map completion at some point but i don’t know how is that going to fix my concerns because eventually i am going to come back to Cursed Shore.

On my server Far Shiverpeaks people farm two to three events only with an occasional grenth or melandru . All these events are on timer and people just go afk waiting for the timer to end.

Zerg starts from location of Plinx events (Fields Of Gold), if broodmother is up (since it is in same area) Arena events (again close by) they kill those and then move on to penitent, once completed next stop is Shelter.

Then zerg stops, goes afk..waiting for Plinx event to start and rinse and repeat. To explain what i am talking about.

On my server all these three locations are simply referred to as ‘Plinx’ or ‘Plinx train’.
I was so disappointed with this but since i needed karma and gold i decided to follow. I did those for a day or two and got bored out of my mind. All other events on maps are ignored for two main reasons

1;) High cost of teleports from one waypoint to another.
2;) Contested waypoints which don’t allow teleport.
3;) The nuisance of running through hordes of undead to reach your location.

So by doing this not only you save teleport costs but repair bills. Not to mention quick amount of gold you make by continuous farming of these three locations.

And since Plinx, Penitent and Shelter in close proximity and can be repeated every 10 to 15 minutes it is like being in merry go round. This kills whole ‘dynamic’ nature of zones and events.

Also since changes have been made to DR recently, i am guessing it is not much of a problem?

Now i know many are going to hate me for bringing this up since it will be like putting their ‘path of least resistance to maximize karma and gold’ under scanner but it is my opinion that there is one whole big region filled with so many other events that people are ignoring.

This can be fixed by ;

1.) Increasing timer between events at these three locations
2.) Reducing teleport costs
3.) Have another look at mob density so that people don’t stay in one area because it is pain to run to next event
4.) Include more Mega events with longer chains which take you all over the map.
5;) Scale events better according to small party size so that you can get away from zerg and still complete events.

The only reason i am bringing this up is so that players focus on other events as much as they do on these three locations. I am sure Anet didn’t design Cursed Shore so that people only stay in one corner of the map for continuous karma farming.

Well, I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I had spent $30usd earlier on the keys to celebrate the event and to try and get some of the event skins. Got absolutely none, that was a lot of money to spend and to gain absolutely no enjoyment from the money I spent is incredibly disheartening.

And yes it is a valid concern. In MMOS where questing is the main form of progression you can log in at any off times and still progress but in GW2 you can not do so because progression is heavily dependent upon DE’s.

I have stopped playing GW2 at off times even if i have free time because i know there won’t be enough players in PVE to get DE’s done.

Since when group DE are required to “progress” in this game? The only one I will grant you is if you have to do Arah as your last step in the storyline, and there aren’t enough players to clear the gates. Aside from that, I can’t think of anything else that “blocks progress”, as most DEs are optional, even if some may be very rewarding. There are so many things to do at any given time that could help you get “further” in the game, without engaging in group activities.

IMHO, I LOVE that this game almost enforces cooperative play-solo play will only get you so far, even as a Guardian, and frankly, though I could solo most of this game’s content with my own, I rather do it with good company (even my current “solo PvE” build is geared with a party/group mentality, because you never know who may show up that may benefit from my party/group support options.) Initially, I thought the game was weaker than GW1 on this regard (cooperative play, since there’s so much you can do solo), but in the long run, he/she who gets into groups/parties “wins”, as is hinted even from the beginning areas, with some ridiculously tough group DEs on those early maps (which again are for the most part OPTIONAL, so it’s also OK if there are not that many people on-just do someting else instead.)

^Not true at all, I am not very chatty on map unless somebody has a game question I can help with, and I will help with events if I have the time, but if I am busy with something else, not showing up at a particular DE doesn’t mean that I do not exist on said map. I think people mistake map chattiness and DE participation as the only gauges for map activity. Some people are very quiet, even in games-I know I am.

I do not mean to be negative, or continue needless arguments, though, so feel free to disagree. I just know from my own playing experience that what you stated is very different from my own in-game observations.

DE are the main content of GW2 when it comes to PVE.

Do you know that hearts were not even in game and were added later on because people wanted something more traditional like questing? the whole PVE in GW2 is designed around DE’s with hearts being a later addition to give players some familiarity with GW2 progression.

So yes it is not just my opinion on this matter but how GW2 has been designed.

Oh and not all of us are playing Guardians but thanks for your opinion.

People need to stop making excuses here. First it is closed beta give it more time… it is just beta give it more time… it just released give it more time…. it has only been a month give it more time…. and this never ends.

Yes every MMO has bugs but it has been a month and lots of basic bugs from day one are still here. I am sure Anet is trying their best but i can also understand frustration of players.

However, i can’t help but roll my eyes whenever i read excuses like that from fan base.

Look what have you done now OP, you have angered the fanboys.

However, i agree that it has been a month but all we can do is report bugs and get things on fast track. Other option is to stop playing and come back in a couple of months when game is more stable.
