There is difference between playing and experiencing it and watching a video. And since all rewards were cosmetic so i don’t see whats the issue. Half of the draw in playing online games is acquiring new items.
They could also add those items to gem store. But lets forget rewards… how about just giving players the option to play through all story instances, even that would be more than satisfactory and help players connect more with the world.
GW2 world will still be living and evolving. Replaying the story won’t take anything away from it.

I don’t know if this has been suggested before but a lot of players like me who were unable to play through every living story since release due to work, travel etc.. Would it be alright if we get a chance to play through all chapters as a DL pack?
I wouldn’t mind even paying for it. I am trying to get my brother and cousins into playing GW2 and their biggest complaint is all the content and rewards they have missed due to temporary content.

Wouldn’t be as bad if they could time their dodges well enough. Of course, in open PvE a lot of people don’t bother to pack extra evasion skills, and just autoattack and stop paying attention. (I love using those people for Daily Reviver on the Queensdale troll.)

You don’t just swing a sword, even if you have a sword. They’re talking about other stuff like enviromental weapons (which they show as a catapult in the video when saying that). They’re talking about the quests where you change form to other forms. They’re talking about transformation skills, where you get five new skills.
You don’t have to like it, but that’s what they’re talking about. And those things are all in the game.
No that is not what they are talking about. They were trying to assure the players that their game won’t follow old formula of repetition and grind. Hence the above statement of swinging the sword again and again.

There are 2.5 million players logging in every week. The game is getting new content every 2 weeks and much has been done to improve the core game and rewards systems.
So no official announcement from Anet. My point exactly. And that website made this announcement purely for marketing purposes in China. Anyone can make those numbers up.

If I had to hazard a guess as to something much earlier which had “Daily Quests” I’d begin and end with Animal Crossing.
I played games like UO, Asheron Call, EQ, Anarchy Online before WOW and i never came across this phenomena called ‘dailies’? am i missing something here? what other MMOS used ‘dailies’ as content before WOW?

2. people who come to the forums are A, angry people in RL who are never happy with any game that ever gets developed or B bored people like me who have just finished a large session on the game and are about to go to bed and are looking for some GW2 community news.
3. forums in general are there for angry people to vent their anger, which is why most of the time all you and i see are angry people posting angry stuff about just about anything, and are often angry with each other when posting.

Games improve because of positive feedback, too, because then the developers know what they’re doing right. A game should have gushing fans, that means that they are connecting with their players.
(And it means that they can gauge who likes what they’re doing, as opposed to the ‘endgame sux this game is dying need moar raids’ crowd.) And I think that it bothers that crowd that people DO like how GW is going so far overall, because they feel that it undermines their complaints.
Yeah but what about future improvements? great that fans are loving the game in its current state and Anet knows hat they did great job but who is actually telling them about things that didn’t go right? yep as you guessed the ‘negative people’. I don’t even agree with this term though because for me they are more like critics.
Fans are happy with the current state of the game where as those who are critical are more concerned about how GW2 can be made even a better game. Hardcore fans who see nothing wrong with games do more harm than good.

Sorry your post makes no sense. People who have no legendary weapons can be equally bad with their class. As far as buying legendary with cash anything outside of dungeon armor can be bought with gold converted from gems.

Games improve only because of the ‘negative people’. Positive people who do nothing but praise game to 7th heaven add nothing to future improvement of the game.

I said this in another thread and I will say it here; there are a ton of things to do in this game, whether or not you chose to do them is completely on you. It’s not lacking for things to do, it’s lacking in thing you want to do..
You are partially ride. There are plenty of things to do but i doubt it is just the case of ‘lacking in things players want to do’.
It is more of a case of failing to create interest in things to do maybe because the things to do that exists in game are just that boring for majority.

well im only 45% world completion on my first toon, i can make an alt to see the rest
but really, grind is easily avoided; for a few dollars you can get most of the gear and cultural stuff. some skins and the ascended stuff are grinds, but not necessary ones.
the endgame… what do you want of it?

i still find that gw2 gives you a lot of different way to grind.

I love these amateur “graphics mods” these days.
They increase constrast to hilariously exaggerated levels, to the point the game looks like a cartoon, and call it “The Ultimate Super Mega P00nzor Hax of L33tskillz Graphix skillzors!”.
And i love how people assume things without going into details of the subject matter. But then that is our generation which loves to glance on the surface and start blabbering as if they know it all.
Sweetfx does not just increase contrast but does a lot more. But then again you would know if you bothered to read the details.

To be honest, it sounds like you just need a guild.
Guild won’t help much since they mostly end up like one big crowd thanks to multiple guild system. One has to be really lucky to find a dedicated group and lets be honest here not all get lucky when it comes to finding the right guild.

Well MP3 is made by Rockstar and i have never disliked any of their games. I played through MP3 multiple times and it is amazing and so is Borderland 2.

Again, if the new quality had never existed it’d be the same, you’d need exotics.
Because Extoics were supposed to be the cap and everybody would have same stats and the only thing that will separate you from others is appearance. that was original plan. To only release more cosmetic grind.
Why do you think they made Legendaries different only in appearance? you think they couldn’t have given legendaries better stats before release?

Im not talking about the quality. Im talking about the fact that its about as harmless as nvidia inspector when it comes to how it affects the game. This as an argument for the “Yes, use it, you wont get banned” against “No, you’ll get banned”.
Pretty much this. As was already stated, their stance on third party is they do not, and will not support it. However, Third party programs that change game files or give the player an advantage are clearly against ToS.
That being said, Black is right. He meant no offense and there is no reason to get defensive of sweetfx vs nvidia as that is not the point. Childish reactions are not needed.
And there is no need to overreact either. I don’t see what is so childish about asking someone to post their screenshots for nvidia inspector. His post was very vague and anyone would think he is talking about the quality effect and not Anet’s stance on third party programs.
The only person who is getting defensive here is you. I have used nvidia inspector and i was wondering if i missed something and he was able to tweak it to get the same effects.

People are asking for merges because the server status are quite misleading. My server is high but only place you find people are in W v W rest of the pve zones are deserted.

I remember it igneous. That is how end game zone should be done. Increasing mob density in every section of the map and increasing respawn timers is a lazy way out.

You can control the saturation…. that is how i do it. Even i am not fan of saturation but good thing about Sweet FX is that you can control how your game looks.

I am also going to say yes to mounts. if given a choice between instantly zooming from one way point to another and using a mount. I will always go with mount.

It’s not a big deal, you aren’t forced to do anything. I hate WvW because I get 10FPS there but you know what? Once I realized ANet is going to do nothing to optimize the game and I need to buy next gen PC parts I slug through it without whining anymore.
Well you are not forced to even play the game. Things is that when you make content such as achievements which gives you karma needed by both PVE and PVP players, you shouldn’t be forced into doing something you have no interest in.
GW2 is about freedom with in the game and when something as important as karma is involved the excuse ‘you are not forced to do anything’ doesn’t fly.
Karma is essential for PVE players as much as it is for PVP players..Especially for folks like me who have no interest in dungeons what so ever and enjoy open world DE content.

This game need mounts, for me way points is a cop out for traveling.
Please Arenanet, there are many fan suggestions you should consider mounts, this is one of them.
No it doesn’t need mounts. GW1 never had them and GW2 won’t either.

I’m sure this thing works for people but this really didn’t worked for me. All it does it adds contrast / brightness and some others things. I, atleast, can already just go to my monitor settings and choose “graphics” either than standard setting and it does almost the same.

…to me these screen you all posted mostly look worse than standard client rendering, with few exceptions.
Mostly is about a shifted and compressed gamma, which naturally leads to more saturated colours (RGB represented ofc) , deeper blacks, more contrast and thus less dynamic range.
I do prefer much better the muted colours of the standard rendering than most of these experimentations, which i agree are funny to play with, but that rarely can bring something good.
PS: I’m a photographer, so my opinion is biased.
I don’t think one needs to be a photographer to form an opinion about any picture just how you don’t need to be a professional chef to appreciate good food.
For all i could know your photography could be the worst i have ever seen.

So after all the Halloween excitement, ANet have been even more generous and decided to smack a big update in soon after. I for one am UBER excited, i love new stuff, and with the game consistently changing and new things coming in, i don’t lose interest (which i tend to do easily when playing MMO’s).
What does everyone else think? AND what do you think is going to be implemented?!
Perhaps a run-up to christmas? Who knows…
