Part 4

The Scarlet arc exposition has been to slow and we agree with this. We also know how much you all want to see more of our old lore built upon and we agree. I am looking forward to hearing your feedback around Scarlet once the arc ends.

Summary Bump

I guess this covers what I’ve been talking about. I hope it means we will not see a years worth of LS dedicated to one villain. It sounds like different aspects of lore will be included in the LS at various times through out the next LS season. That would be great Sorry if I sounded too negative in my posts against Scarlet.

In a previous post someone said a day was 2 hours in Tyria, but 2 hours is just the day light hours, 2 hours and 40 minutes would be an entire day. So it’s not 12 years it is less, prob 9 years or there abouts. Sorry, I read it and wanted to make it right :P

Anyway when it comes to Scarlet again having too much of something wears down the value of it. People need to be wanting more of that character and that’s done by limiting it with great stories surrounding them, but right now when it comes to Scarlet (most) people want less. “not X again” comes from it not being to the person’s liking or having too much of it, in Scarlet’s case I suspect both are true. I also think if characters have breaks (Scarlet) it would give the LS teams more time to discus how to connect her story to the players for the next time she returns. Instead of pushing her out every update with a growing unhappy player base. Maybe her finale will be great and epic.

I hope we can get a more through discussion about the matter after the arc is finished. You are in the process of learning and i am courious about what you learned, which ideas you had had to be revised and what your overall vision was against how it ended up.

Yeah, we’re learning a lot about integrating story with gameplay with the two-week Living World release cadence. It’s exposing issues with our writing process, presentation, and development methods that we’re working on improving with each release.

I’ve been formulating a LW season postmortem in my head that I am looking forward to sharing internally first, and then one day discussing publicly if I’m given the opportunity.

I don’t want to put words into your mouth, nor do I want to get you into trouble…but from some of your responses it sounds like youre not a huge fan of the 2 week cadence. It sounds like you would rather be afforded more time for quality writing, character developing, and story telling vs getting stuff out the door in a few weeks.

I dont expect a response(even if I am correct). Just know that you are not alone! We would rather you guys have more time to do what you feel is best, rather than be on a public deadline for every single patch.

As I recall it’s not out the door in a few weeks, it’s out the door in a few months as 4 teams work on the LS. So which ever team put out this last LS update they have 2 months before their next update will go live. Or at least that’s what I’m lead to believe from what I’ve read.

I think part of the problem with Scarlet is she’s the only enemy we have faced for the whole year (Living Story), she’s been behind everything.
I think it would be more enjoyable if she had a few episodes and was defeated letting a new enemy come in for a while. Scarlet could make a return at a later date.
They are also unveiling her story too slowly and not explaining stuff she already did.
Scarlet being the only enemy we’ve faced in LS, her arc moving slowly and not explaining her past endeavors, that combination has damaged her character.
I think LS would work better if they expand on their enemy list and complete their arcs faster, to continue later when they return or are a one time enemy arc.

In post from Shriketalon.1937 a good story set up is introduced.

Would you prefer this story set up, with long campaigns fighting dragons and short and sweet, 1 month long (2 eps) minor bad guys or the LS that Anet has given us lately? Scarlet might not have been so bad to most people if she was only around for a month. Does anyone feel that Scarlet is a major character that should have this long of a campaign against her? Or is she a minor character that should have been a 1 month enemy? (over and done with moving on to the next bad guy)

All thanks to Shriketalon.1937.

A good show must find a balance between building lore, establishing characters, indulging in instant gratification, and setting up long term investment. In many ways, a television show is an apt comparison to MMOs. They require an initial hook to get the player interested combined with long term reasons to get committed to regular viewing. In addition, they cater to many different individual’s personal tastes; viewers will get attached to certain characters, become invested in the plot, or simply enjoy the wit and banter to bring them back again and again. At the moment, however, the Living Story feels like a poor spinoff due to the overemphasis on the Saga of Scarlet. In order to achieve a solid viewing audience, the Living Story needs to find balance.

Here is a simple example of a Living Story arrangement designed to appeal to a wide audience. The idea is to reserve long term campaigns that take months of content for the most important things going on in Tyria (which are dragons, not redheaded Sylvari reverse engineering bloodstones). These fit into the January-to-May block very easily, since there are no holidays during that time frame. Meanwhile, the rest of the year is devoted to creature features, lore delves, one shot stories, and the introduction of new races in order to indulge a diverse audience. The combination of hardcore campaigns and whimsical/wonderful oneshots should satisfy the audience and keep them entertained for years to come.

If it is not to presumptuous, here is a hypothetical TV Guide To Tyria to demonstrate what the Living Story could be.

Talking about Scarlet having too much lime like not Lady Glaive.

Oh! My mistake, sorry.

:) It’s cool. But I feel like Scarlet should be about at the same level. They really need to find ways to trim down on how much time it takes to tell the story of one character. I read that we still don’t fully understand Scarlet O_o, which means we will see more of her. I don’t think any of the community views Scarlet as a major character along level of Elder Dragons and those dragons are just about the only characters that could warrant such a long drawn out story.

Scarlet is more along that of Lady Glaive, she should not of had this much lime light.

Lady Glaive was mentioned very briefly in NF, very briefly in EOTN, and pops up in a GW1 skill description.

That’s a tiny amount of lime light! She never even appears!

So a fun question to ask to help direct the conversation a bit: What aspects of your favorite television shows would you think would be cool to see reflected in a game medium?

It’s a quote from a ways back, but it’s the best way to frame my response. I hope you don’t mind.

Reading through all of these events they look awesome. It feels like the story moves and uses lore and great story telling. Your list is how LS should work, it moves along opening stories for new events and even if 1 month is dedicated to a small minor character like the ghost ship (2016 November) for example (which i love the idea of that event) it only lasts 1 month and LS moves on. Scarlet might have been fun if she was a 1 month enemy and defeated. Starting at Queens Jubilee and ending in TA (killed or not) where her secret base could have been 1 1/2 months would have been great and moved on to another enemy. 9 months is just too long to spend on Scarlet. Scarlet is more along that of Lady Glaive, she should not of had this much lime light.

2) I’d like to further develop my character/account from each living story arc I participate in, in a way that goes far beyond wearables. Something over-arching. For example, I’d like to acquire reputation with factions of choice for each succesful event participation and after a few months I’d like to get awarded with a minor noble title with the faction I contributed most to, and get a side-questline for the personal story from that. Or get granted some land to have a new house. Or get henchmen, which I can customize and who will join me in future singleplayer parts of later story arcs.

I really like this idea. Someone also suggested (I forget who) unlocking more armor/weapon skins from our specific order, and watered down versions of the other order’s skins. I like this way of unlocking skins much better then what we have now. Plus, your decision of what order you joined has impact.

I suggested a few months back that we should be able to build rep with the orders we joined in the LS and that they should increase the armor, weapons and toys we can get from them. It was on a thread about the orders doing more in the world or something like that I can’t remember the title. I pick the order I join for the way the armor looks that I can get, it would be nice to have more of a choice in that, but also to make the choice have more of a meaning in the I want it to feel like I’m helping Tyria, but also serving my chosen order in the living world, and by doing that I get titles and perks for being in that order.

I know this is stupid idea, but I will say it anyways.

Situation now:
What I think the Living World is whole Tyria area, all the maps, and all the events in those maps. And what I have seen, there are most of the players, well in my server, in Queensdale area or in Frostgorge Sound area doing Champion Trains. They are doing it because they want good loot. The rest of the maps are mostly empty, there are no players around. Events are staying undone all other areas, just in case that there would be some player come in that area to beat it up.

My idea is this:
Normal events loot would be bit better. Lets make a little RNG in there too, every time you have beating up event, normal event or group event but not champion event, you will get a little chest what gives for example a weapon for a reward. And there would be a small possibility to get Ascended weapon or even Precursor from normal events, no matter what area you are, or what level you are. So player could get a precursor even a level 2 if he/she is lucky. But these little chests would never came those events what are giving loot bag, like champions. And this is the point, that little chest would come once a day / event. So if you want to get a precursor or acended weapon, you have to do all events in all maps to get greater possibility to get those weapons. In that way playerbase should be spread in whole world. I hope so.

I know this was a stupid idea.

It doesn’t matter if it would work or not if you have an idea just say it. The devs want ideas and brainstorming is not about only talking about ideas that are sure to be the next cool thing in GW2. We only can get there by hearing what everyone has to say rather the idea works or not. It may be the idea that can’t work in it’s current form that sparks the idea for the next cool thing in GW2

So with all of this in mind it would be cool to carry on discussing around this area in much the same form as Nike has. Specifically brainstorming on top of the foundation of known systems and functionality. I do also want to point out that someone mentioned (sorry i forget who) the ability to potentially build forts etc and then gain new events, goals and rewards from them by protecting and nurturing your land. Wouldn’t that be awesome!?

Chris

This. Would. Be. Amazing. This was something I was just thinking about while out in Kessex and Queensdale. We spend all of this time fighting centaurs, playing back and forth with specific spots, it’s very drawn out and boring at this point. I feel like the world has changed very little on my 5th character. I love fighting for, and effectively eradicating the Centaur or Bandits from a specific spot…But only so many times. If we could as you say, nurture the land by building up the fortresses & settlements and see a real substantial growth take place then it would feel very worth spending a lot more time out there tackling the conflict head on.

In Ascalon, and outside in the Fields of Ruin…We see humans finally expanding back out into these regions with tiny settlements, Seraph with small fortifications….A year and some later they haven’t changed and this is prime real estate for expansion, growth and development. That’s what a living world is, and if you/we could do this then I could not honestly think of any game presently, or even in the near future that will likely touch this level of innovation.

South Sun, we left the settlers there at the mercy of the Karka Queen and her minions when we saw the fireworks of Dragon Bash go off and haven’t really spent much time there since. What ever happened to them? I would love to go back there and help them build up the Isles & make real, genuine settlements there. Even if specific parts can be built up extensively and then decay over time without upkeep, or eventually get destroyed without the proper defenses in a major event that could take place after X amount of time (I would make it a long term timer, not short term because who likes seeing all their hard work demolished in a day or two?)

I know this is all extremely broad and probably unrealistic, but one can hope. Tyria is a very deep and complex world, and even if we could get some of this type of content then the game would be much better off for it.

I guess there would have to be specific places we could help build. I like the Idea of when a new map is opened forts need to be built. With dynamic events that involve defending the workers, gathering supplies, escorting supplies to the fort, and exploring the landscape with scouts that could fit in with another story arc.

In the next update maybe the fort is built more of the map becomes playable as scouting parties return to the fort with news of landscape, wildlife, and any new enemies or friendly races and it keeps expanding until all of the map is playable.

These updates should have a main story arc along with minor events (not part of the main story arc) elsewhere that could lead to something bigger over time. Maybe this new zone will be the spot of a major battle a few updates down the road after it’s opened all the way cuz we build that fort there and the inhabitants didn’t like it . It could work with the 2 week updates. We helped with little events that lead to big stories. For example now we have a new enemy that started neutral to us when we met them, cuz maybe someone abused them and exploited their resources so we could build our fort. Their people began to suffer as resources dwindled and they blamed us, now they attack our fort and want us out of their land.

A story arc could be to find a way to maintain our supply but ensure their people have enough as well. Maybe by setting up trading partnerships from other zones and people, while villains attempt to stop these trading partnerships from succeeding. If the said people don’t get what they need they will continue attacking us and we may be forced out of that zone. So it would be important that the trading deals succeed and escorts from other zones make it. (Escorts would not be longer than the ones we have now) They would just reach a safe place a zone and maybe the same escort might need to be escorted 2 or 3 times in different zones before they reach that zone, but each time they come to where they need an escort they would stand and wait for someone to start it. If it failed an event would start to get the supply back and it would restart where escort started if it failed on the last part of the escort that’s where it would start again right after the supplies are recovered. If escorts don’t reach their settlements/ towns and their supply stays low for too long they attack our fort.

There’s a few ideas.

—snipped for brevity—

Post like this Cesmode really don’t need to occur. Many of your questions can be answered by keeping up to date with the thread and understanding what the stated goals are of the initiative. I appreciate your feedback and some of your commentary but please understand that this slows the process down and can also derail extremely valuable discussion.

I hope you understand,

chris

Chris,
I do not feel that I am combative in my responses. I have encouraged other folks to be patient with arenanet’s involvement in this thread early on. However, now that it has been 5 days, some of us are wondering when arenanet will become a bit more involved in this collaborative discussion. We just dont want this to become a one way street and turn into every other thread on these forums.

With that said, apologies if it at all detracted from the purpose of the thread. My intent was to try to get your attention so we can have more collaboration in this thread, rather than the players speaking their minds, to which we do every day. If there isnt going to be a lot of discussion between developer and player, then the initiative itself fails and this just becomes another thread. Which, in case, we can refer to the countless threads on the Living Story debate to get the players’ pulse on the subject.

I did see your responses to the numbered items in my post that you previously touched on in the thread, I was simply hoping for a little more back and forth to the main issues

Edit: It looks like theres been some real discussion today(I have been out all day). Good stuff.

Hi Cesmode,

I just got back and caught the end of the Seahawks game!!!

I really appreciate your response Cesmode. Perhaps combative wasn’t the right word and it is great to see such a mature reply. I am reading through yours and the other posts from this morning and am going to spend some time mulling the discussion over. It is very intricate and insightful currently.

I have freed up my early afternoon tomorrow and am looking forward to getting back into the discussion and now i am likely going to jump in game and do a dungeon or two!

Chris

P.S: Go Hawks! Note: I apologize up front for any derailing of the discussion this may cause (-:

Oh yes I forgot Anet is based there, I was hoping the Hawks would loose. It was 21-0 at one point against a 0-7 (now 0-8) team :P Go 9ers!!! I hope you keep struggling against losing teams and we’ll see u in December

There’s been a lot on the NC lately, but I have an idea. It’s said that once a Sylvari turns to the NC they can not return to the dream. Some one wonders into back into the pale tree and act like they’ve woken up from a nightmare, they have returned to the dream. He talks vaguely about someone he met. This person has ability to reverse the nightmare. Caithe searches for this person finds clues about him, but fails to find him. She believes he could be used to end the nightmare. She summons the rest of DE to help and the Order of Whispers. Before they arrive she receives a message to meet him . Caithe does not want this power to fall to the NC, so she agrees to meet.
Caithe has not returned, and the mother tree feels a great loss, but does not know what happend. The Order of Whispers and DE are tasked tracking her and the person she met. Reports begin to come in of increased NC attacks and the Vigil is called in to defend towns from NC. As the Vigil pushes back the NC Caithe and her lover Faolain confront the mother tree. The Order of Whispers receives a report Caithe is attacking the pale tree. DE confront Caithe and find the mother tree almost dead. They attack Caithe and Faolain while the mother tree retreats to a safer place. At the end of the fight Faolain is dead and Caithe retreats swearing revenge for the death of her lover. DE agree to commit to return Caithe to DE and to the dream.

A fractal could be made of how Cathie was made to join the Nightmare Court. Items from the fractal are reminders of Cathie’s former self.

This could be the start of a dragons champ seeking to destroy DE and the leaders of the orders before the next dragon attack or the work of something else, Mursaat perhaps? Sylvari haven’t dealt with Mursaat I bet they could do a lot of damage.

Even if these ideas don’t work I want to put it out there it may spark other ideas

I would like to see the 3 orders involved in the LS, make my choice of which order to join count for something outside of PS. They all should be involved in protecting Tyria.

Adding more maps once in a while would not hurt.

Dyes that add an effect to armor (other than color) would give all armor piece new life.

Yes, that’s my point. To change that would be to compromise environmental themes they’ve been fine-tuning since GW1 launched, and greatly detract from the uniqueness and distinctness of these different regions.

That’s bc they lacked the ability to have rolling season in GW1. Perhaps they do have that ability now and if they did it might help to apply it. They can still be unique they just have to make more than one way for a zone to be unique, why would that be a bad thing? This would be new for MMOs and pushing the gene along is what they want to do.

GW 1 is said to have 4 seasons in lore, even 250 years later some kind of seasonal pattern does still exist. With GW 2 being more dynamic can seasons change with some of the updates? It may take a bit of time to start building the changing landscape, but once it’s already built cut and paste could be used when returning to a season. I guess it could just match the seasons of LS updates with the first season due to complete early next year. Maybe it would be too difficult to accomplish this.

Basically, this is a thread in which players can propose ideas for future living world updates.

Rules – Keep it within reason. Don’t throw in a new race at the same time as a dozen new features, for example. A new race may entail a new city, racial armors, personal story, etc, but you must specify whether these things will appear in the same update as them or will be added in a later update.

You can also show support for other players’ LW concepts by listing the title of their update in a post.

I’ll start with my first one, Ocean’s End

Sayeh al’Rajihd requires aid

Trahearne’s Largos contact, Sayeh, has petitioned for Pact aid in defending a Tethyos encampment on the Tarnished Coast.

New zone – Ocean’s End

Located in the Tarnished Coast below Metrica Province.
Permanent zone.
Level x. Always scales your character up to 80, even after the conclusion of the update.
Includes a world boss – a champion of the underwater dragon.

New Living World Achievements

Completing the meta event will award you with the wings of the underwater dragon champion as a back item.

A Prelude to Future Cooperation

Continue to defend the Tethyos Houses and they will send ambassadors to Lion’s Arch in a future update, allowing players eventual access to a playable Largos race.

If their camp was defend they would be honor bound to repay their debt. It could easily lead to an alliance if that is was Anet wants to do with them. Sounds good.

The Tengu have an area ready, as if they would’ve been planned as a new race from the start, but with the team scrapping the idea of future expansions I think the idea of new races, classes and continents were also scrapped.

At least, I can’t really see the Living World teams being able to pull off anything like that.

Of course, there could be many creative ways, like adding a new continent world map but with just one area. And then adding more and more areas, like a continous exploration and expansion indo the wilderness, as cities are buit in the older areas and it would be like… well a “Living World”. Imagine the awesome experience of exploring a new continent, it doesn’t even have to be Elona or Cantha, just a big wilderness jungle place. All lvl80 insane wilderness. The lore can be that an elder dragon’s energy signals were detected there or something. And you showly progress towards the dragon as more areas are added to the continent. And it could be… a Tengu-led exploration…

Then again, I don’t work at ArenaNet. :P

You got it right in the bottom half of your post, the top is just dead wrong. New playable races are a almost a sure thing at this point, they are deciding which one to add first.

I would like to see a Halloween dungeon, like a haunted castle with weapon drops and exotic dyes that give armor a spooky effect (permanent). So much more can be done with dyes then just a color. It can easily be used to give current armor new life by letting us have dyes to give cool effects!! I hope it’s coming. It would take time to make sure all the effects fit on all armor.

Well, here is my theory about how the Largos came to be, the Largos some what represent or look similar to all the priestesses or Dwayna, if you don’t belive me then go check out the priestess of Dwayna at her Temple, and the other priestess at the dungeon Arah Path 4 you will notice that those priestesses both of them have the same wings, and for another thing to point out, All the Named Largos share names that are Orrian/Arabic Cultured. (EX: Aaminah,Fahd al’Eshadhi, Sayeh al’Rajihd, Azzan)

So basically my point is, the Largos seem to be Orrian Human Survivors that maybe or somewhat blessed by the Goddess Dwayna to live through the Cataclysm, and maybe they Evolved from what they were to what they are now to deal with the underwater enviroment they live in now.

Also Sayeh can read Orrian.

What a Coincidence, I guess this adds to my theory then

It’s a good theory, and it would make sense. They had to been living on land at one point, bc they wouldn’t of had a human body had they evolved from the sea.

Again such a thread, where people are begging for those silly races, which have already been told a million times, that they never will become playable, as they are INTENDED to be 100% only classes that make up an appearance only in the personal story either as enemies of the playable races or as alllies of the personal story.

The best thing Anet should do is just implement Tengus, then make big war like living story thats based on a harbinger of a new elder dragon (one of their super champions appearing as a new world boss) which story annihilates mostly all kodan (except the one for dungeon making him the last one of his race and thus destined to be extinctioned/unplayable) anf if they feel of ever implementing more new playable races, that they implement to the game something, that is 100% completely new and unique that has never been seen before in the game that has been designed from the scrach new, because such new playable races are for a game like GW2 the most best that anet could do to keep the game as unique and interesting as possible!

We have so much unexplored places in Tyria with its absolute huge map where we don’t know, what for unseen races could live there.
Please don’t throw away this big chance to stay unique by hearing on this comminity QQ and waste that oppurtunity by recycling tons of stupid already existign races that play no role, other then being part of the personal story or beign enemies…

And here we go again, another kid crying over others expressing things that they see fun in a Game, i mean if thats your opinion, then by all means I will tell you mine, The even better thing that Anet could do is annihilate the Tengu by having Primordus come from undergound or wherever he is, and destroy the whole dominion of winds with all the Tengu in there, and Jormag Comes from the North and destroys the whole Kodan race.

that being said, you are not obligated to post in such a thread if it kitten es the likes of you, just go else where, or create whatever QQing thread about the community while you already have proven that you lie at the bottom of it.

Yes, he/she is like that, a troll with nothing better to do (from seeing many other posts of theirs) Most people just ignore it as should u.

Tengu plz.

Largos are essentially humans or sylvari with wings and Kodan are Norn with polar bear faces. Im interested in them from a lore standpoint but other than that I don’t really want just another human variation

…i’d be interested in hylek as well.

Tengu are just char with beaks.

The only thing that i can see is the Char being an all out enemy is GW1 and being playable in GW2, but that took 250 years and a new game. That’s about equal to whats being asked when asking for an enemy race to be playable, like Krait.

Until they come out saying that an enemy race or a minor race will be playable I will not believe it. The choices are Largos, Tengu and Kodan as the first new races. I was not just talking about undead, but Krait , Centaurs and so on. Until Anet somehow promotes them as a non enemy race, or promotes the minor races as equal to the playable ones they wont be playable. The races I said are not viewed as a minor race or an enemy race making them much more likely to be playable due to not being labeled for a pacific role in the game already, but existing. Could that all change? Yes, but not before Anet uses what they still have. The Char were an enemy race, but lo 250 years later and a new game they are playable.

Minor races you have point but, about enemy races it doesn’t even matter. Why you ask? Because each major race has a group that consist of itself as the enemy. Flame legion for Charr, Nightmare Court Sylvari, Bandits (and others) for Humans, Sons of Svanir for Norn, and the Inquest for the Asura. Aetherblades consist of each playable race and they are an enemy faction. No promotion is needed to non aggressor at all. I think the devs will do as they said, Whatever it seems the player base wants they will put in the game.

They were all introed with the majority being good guys, the other enemies were giving to us as majority being bad guys. Big difference. We already know the playable races are good guys with a few bad ones, the enemy races are mostly bad guys, with unknown other tribes. For now in the game as it is they are bad guys and not to be playable anytime soon.

I still don’t believe minor races will be playable, he did say they get a laugh out of some of the races that people suggest. So it’s not just about what people ask for. And I really doubt that they get a laugh out of Tengu Kodan, or Largos.

First of all, my whole point wasn’t about “the first new race to be playable”, it was about the races that we the players/people wish to play and enjoy
Second, we will not lose anything if we wished and hoped, would we?

I did see it, he said there is a core group of races that people have been asking for, likely Largos, Kodan and Tengu that they will decide from. Not like if Kodan gets one more vote than Tengu, Kodan is going to be the first playable race.

the thing is, we do our part as players (forums, suggestions, etc), and leave them do their part as game developers, and hopefully that they will go the direction that will benefit the game the most, If they shoot (put in) any of my favorite races ill be extremely happy, if not ill just wait, because i know they might do so one day. (plus as weird as this might sound, they didn’t specifically say that “Largos, Tengu and Kodan” are only races in that core group )

Is there another core that is suggested together? I know the Tengu, Kodan and Largos are suggested together most of the time. They are the core group in my opinion, and have the best chance to be playable. Everyone else has theirs. They are the only races that are not an enemy race or a minor race that exist in the game world. Minor races are called minor races in game and by Anet bc they do not fit in with the playable races. Anet is not likely to add a race that is not in the game already, as it’s very clear they like to use what they have before they make new races.

I never heard Colin say they will bring in the most wanted race, I heard him say they are exploring races to see if they could be made to be playable and if so which one to make playable first. Some of the said races could not be made playable based on what Anet whats them to be. I believe that the only races that really stand a chance are Largos, Tengu and Kodan.

Watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy7CcwnfUdU at min 14:45
" Whatever race that we decide to add to the game first, will be one from that core pool that People have been talking about regularly"-Colin Johanson.

So basicly if we as the people are talking/asking them about any of those races, i guess Anet wouldn’t mind adding them.

I’m not sure I would want those wing things showing all the time. Would only like to be able to play them if I could hide/unhide them on command. Would rather be able to play as a Tengu/Skritt/Quaggan-/Kodan (in that order) before I play as one of them.

That’s like saying you will only play charr if you can hide their 4 ears. It’s part of them!

I thought I saw someone say it’s like hiding their tail. Anyway my guess is they would be folded on land and only open in water bc they are for swimming, if in fact they did become playable. I remember saying this, it has already been talked about.

“Trahearne states that the two met on the seas outside Orr and both had difficulties to cause them to join forces to overcome them which is when Sayeh declared herself indebted to him.” From Wiki. It would make prefect sense for the Largos to ally with the other 5 races to combat the Elder Dragons.
