LF NA dungeon guild active in Euro daytime

I’m a Brit who plays from ~9AM to midnight, and in my current (primarily American) guild that means there’s almost no activity for the first half of the day. I’d love to be running dungeons/fractals for a lot of that time, but I have absolutely no interest in playing with strangers I can’t get to know. Sooo I want a guild that’s active enough in that time to form dungeon groups.
I prefer to run optimal builds, but I’m very open-minded and not super fussy. Hopefully with the new dungeon rewards, people will be up for doing lots of different ones.
I’m on Dragonbrand, but transferring is not out of the question. However, I don’t really want to switch to an EU server because most of my friends are here on NA.
I have no problem filling in an application form, using voicechat or meeting pretty much any reqs you care to throw at me. If you have the activity I’m looking for, expect to see me online and repping for 8+ hours on most days.

Are you claiming that crit damage doesn’t increase your DPS? If, as you (falsely) claim, you’re a good player, you’d be getting a lot more out of that crit damage than a scrub like me. However, your failure to understand the mechanics of the game just goes to show that you need the boost you’ll get from being forced to wear proper gear.

Only difference between MF gear and normal gear with similar stats is the % crit dmg stat that I contribute less to the team so I’m essentially leeching to get slightly better drops because I’m a selfish person who doesn’t respect his teammates, which I dont care about.

PvP rewards are all cosmetic – for someone who plays only PvP, they’d be stuck wearing their starter armour (with no shoulders or gloves?) unless they dipped into PvE. If you want to look nicer in Heart of the Mists, why don’t you use your PvP skins from the achievement chests?

I would love this with 2 changes:
1. lemme put it in my inventory! So long as I can only use it out of combat that shouldn’t be OP, just less of a nuisance. Making it more convenient would boost sales, and the gem store would make even MORE money from all the additional bag slots people bought to fit their spare builds in.
2. Allow me to leave slots blank, so if for example I had 2 builds that used different elite skills, I could have a third that only changed my utilities and armour, leaving the elite skill as whatever it was before.

Keeps a feel of semi-permanence in character stats.

Why is this a good thing? I’d rather be able to change all the time when I’m out of combat – that would promote build diversity.

Makes the character’s home instance more relevant.

…except it’s a lot quicker to press B and go to the borderlands instead of wasting money on a waypoint? If you’re adamant about limiting its use, ONLY put it in the home instance.

Literally none of the GW1 mechanics were carried over, with the exception of stuff that’s generic to MMORPGs. They didn’t even keep the professions! Ranger, warrior, thief, ele, and necro are all generic, while mesmers are totally different. When they said this game would be different from most MMORPGs, they should have just said it’d be different from GW1…

You ask a salesman if this watch is waterproof – he lies and says it is, and then after you buy it it breaks when you really needed it underwater.
“Sure this food’s kosher!” No it isn’t.

There are other little kids they could play with. The sister would be a great catch for someone. Not everyone needs a waterproof watch. Most people aren’t Jewish. Okay so you missed what he said, which was that an inspect system would lead to only a handful of people doing CoF, CoE, and Arah, and they would then sell the berserker’s armour at ridiculously inflated prices to anyone who wanted to have “perfect” gear.

What do you do when you add someone to your party and then realise they have a high kick score? Politely ask them to leave or… reform the party without them??

It doesn’t really matter I would think.

The suggested system simply lets you know what are the odds of a party you join to maliciously kick you. If you join an unknown party and see 2+ high kick scores, you’ll want to leave asap.

Imagine this situation: I form a party with a friend and a guildie, so we’re 3/5. We add a PUG and realise he has a high kick score. What do we do? He can’t kick us on his own, no problem. But then he adds his friend, who ALSO has a high kick score. We can’t force them to leave without boosting our own score, so we have to reform our own party? What if we already opened the instance (and if it’s Fractals, maybe rolled for swamp)?

And then there’s also the (above meantioned) issue with leaving. The instance owner leaves and reinvites his guild members and you’re back at square one.

If you’re alone and joining a group of guildmates, ask to be host of the instance. And that still doesn’t prevent abuse, since you could single handly leave the party and invite your friends for the endboss.

I’m pretty sure that if the leader leaves, they can’t join the instance themselves.

I’m pretty sure that if the instance owner leaves the party, he’ll be alone in the instance. Then he can invite his friends and they can join the instance.

When the instance owner leaves the party, EVERYONE gets kicked out. The instance is destroyed.

This would be a nice idea buttt it wouldn’t really kill speed runs. People would just work out whether or not it was efficient to do each event, and if so, find the fastest way to do it. Some would be too easy, some would be too long, and for the ones in between… well, that’s just gonna cause arguments. People already disagree about whether to run past or kill the trash in the Solid Ocean fractal – imagine this many times over for every dungeon!

If you don’t want to do speed runs, I’m sure it’s not too hard to form such a group. I don’t see why the game should give you an incentive to do it, though…

I never played WoW. To be honest that sounds like it’d be great for elitists… why deny them this ability? Perhaps you can explain the downside for me.
Seriously though, people already ask you to ping your gear for PUG CoF runs. Or they can avoid PUGs altogether and just do guild runs… won’t that be great for the community?!

The Downside is when they added inspect to WoW, elitism became the standard and the groups that would take anyone became a rarity. It’s the same with a lot of games with Inspect. Give people the tools to be elitist and they’ll be elitist. Elitism is in GW2, but it’s not standard, and if we don’t want it to become the standard, we shouldn’t encourage it.

From what I understand about WoW, (almost?) nobody has max gear, because those items are ridiculously hard to acquire. So there’s a huge spectrum of stat levels, and only a few players who’ve logged well over 10K hours can confidently say that nobody is going to look down on their equipment. In GW2 on the other hand, what most elitists are asking for is full berserker’s with ruby orbs. You can get that in a couple of weeks of buying the game.
So basically, the people I want to avoid are those who don’t even make an effort to acquire optimal gear. In WoW, on the other hand there’s constant gear progression, so everyone is in a sort of ranking system where they all have different stats… THAT is what breeds problematic judgmental elitism. Here it’s just serious players versus casuals.

Some of us can cough up the gold for a Zerker set quickly yes, but a sizable portion of the population considers 2 gold an achievement. It’s nice you want to run what someone said is “optimized”, but “Zerker heavies or gtfo” should not be the norm. It breeds a very toxic community where stats are valued over skill, and the price of entry is high. A good example is my experince with Fractals, I want to get my Fractal level up and gather relics so I can get infusions for my ascendeds, the problem being, few people ever want to do low level fractals, which leaves me effectively stranded at low level. If that happens to all dungeons, then dungeons will become the same where only veteran players will do them and prospective new players will just shy away.
(In Wow I’ve heard many a time, when they introduce a new dungeon, you’d better grind the heck out if it to get the best new gear or you’ll be stuck in a limbo where groups won’t accept you into the dungeon run, because you don’t have the gear, but the gear they want you to have is only attainable in that dungeon)

Whilst I didn’t pay for any of my 8 zerker sets (they’re all from CoF, CoE, and Arah), you’re actually making my point for me. Anyone who can’t afford a full set of armour is inexperienced in dungeons. If you’re wearing the requested gear setup, it shows that you at least made the effort to prepare, so I know you’re going to take the run a little bit seriously.
What this comes down to is casual players getting upset when min/maxers tell them their equipment is sub-optimal. Stop taking it personally! We know nothing about your skill level, so saying “a good player in MF is better than a bad player in zerk” is meaningless. For all we know, you’re a bad player in MF, in which case a bad player in zerk would be an improvement. A good player wearing the right gear is exponentially better than a good player wearing rubbish.
On the other hand, if you have a serious argument that your Rampager’s stats are more effective because of higher crit chance or something, do the maths and post it on the forums. We’re constantly trying to improve our builds, so anyone who’s serious about the game isn’t gonna shoot you down just for being different. Don’t be afraid.

I’m sorry to hear that you can’t get groups for Fractals. I’ve being leveling up alts fairly recently and haven’t had difficulty finding PUGs for 1-9 odds… are you looking on gw2lfg.com? Alternatively, join level 10s and learn to dodge the agony! It’ll pay off at higher levels, which is presumably what you’re aiming for if you’re saving for AR infusions.

That’s not how the node spawns work at all, I’m afraid. When everyone in a zone leaves (which usually only happens when we all get kicked off for an update), the instance is terminated. When it’s recreated by a player entering it again, all the nodes are spawned at random locations (from a list of presets). The game doesn’t remember where they were last time.

That’s pretty much irrelevant. They’ve added more waypoints and points of interest, and yet no one has lost their world completion titles or gold star.

I’d very much like a title to show off my jumping expertise.

The number of waypoints and PoIs has only increased by about 1% though… and world completion isn’t just a title.

So, link isn’t working and the party still takes them even though the requirement is for the leader to be able to inspect their gear. Meanwhile everyone elses link worked. So your answer isn’t to fix what is broken even though it caters to your desire but you MUST be able to crap the game up with elitism. Hmmm. Bad argument is bad.

The link works fine – did you copy it correctly? I believe his point was that anyone can just copy and paste links into chat, and it doesn’t prove that they’re actually using it. Inspect would solve that problem.

Racial skills needs buffing

The way I see it, if they don’t do enough to justify replacing some better skill in your bar, they might as well be doing nothing at all. They are purely cosmetic skills, and their only problem as far as that goes is the long cooldowns so you can barely use them, and when you do you have to wait 16 years to put your proper skill back. You know in GW1 Bear Form lasted for 60s and had another 60s to cool down after that? What happened to the norn to make them so weak??
Anyway, turning them into skills you only use to RP would be kinda lame but better than what we have now. What I’d prefer is to fit them into the game as valid skills that people will seriously want to use in their build – then we’ll actually experience the racial variety instead of just knowing that the possibility exists.

Earning your loot is as much about not dying before you can get it as it is about killing the guy to begin with.

Except that by making bags drop at my feet in WvW and allowing me to spam AoE looting with a hotkey on my mouse, they’ve trivialized it to the point of becoming a pure annoyance. In PvE before the update it was a task (a stupidly easy one, but at least it preserved immersion to some extent), but as it is now there is no reason to not automate it. Nobody has any difficulty picking up their loot, any more than a healthy person has any difficulty manually breathing through their nose… but it’s not something we want to have to think about! Spamming F is unnatural.

Most people don’t make character creation choices based on whether or not they’ll get good skills… otherwise nobody would make a ranger. People make rangers because the playstyle appeals to them (although obviously quite a few end up disappointed when they find out what it’s really like… myself included) – to some extent it’s a cosmetic thing if you like the medium armour, but for anyone who knows how bad racial skills are, race selection is ENTIRELY cosmetic, and that kinda sucks. It’d be nice if the skills were at least usable so I could consider putting them in my build.

I haven’t seen Avatar so I don’t know those references, but… you already know about the lightning hammer build, so you are aware that you don’t need to switch elements to be effective. You also presumably know about the various traits that reward you for staying in one particular achievement e.g. One With Fire, Pyromancer’s Alacrity. So what are you asking for?

I like most of these suggestions.

  • Siege, JPs and infiltration: I’ve read about ideas to make things like OS a real asset to WvW by for example make three Obsidian Sanctums and instead of letting them lead to merely a chest, let each of them lead to one of the EB keeps – have the entrance be situated at another place. This would make for some very interesting new tactics. This idea needs a lot of thought, but I’d like to keep it short here.

Oooooh the tears we’d hear if we could JP into people’s fortifications… I’d prefer if they kept it as 1 JP and had it lead to the top of Stonemist, but with something to stop portals going straight to the top. At the moment, the fighting in there is very petty.

Racial skills needs buffing

Racial skills should make a difference because of flavor. In PvE, the only thing that matters in balance is how high is your dps. Nothing else really matters.

That’s kinda not true but whatever. Would it still be balanced if engineer auto attacks applied AoE Aegis and inflicted a 10s KD? Neither of those would directly affect DPS…

I don’t think Artillery Observers call Artillery Barrages where they are standing. Have you tried the Elite skill?

I have, and I admit that the range is too short – I just wouldn’t want it to be anything ridiculous. Have you done the charr storyline Operation: Bulwark? It could be like the Signal Mortar skill in that – a good range and good damage, but an obvious animation and long delay to make it less effective against players.

You still severely overpower all those lower level zones. The only thing you’re not going to overpower is dungeons, and that’s as it should be.

Even in dungeons it’s too easy – try AC story mode with five 30s and then again with everyone maxed out. The difference is startling.
IMO traits are fine but level 80 white gear shouldn’t be so dramatically different to level 1 white gear.

Before this could happen, something needs to be done about all the QQing regarding the lack of a race change facility. I’m not saying I support race changes at all, but if race actually made a difference in PvE, there’d be even more crying from people who can’t handle re-making their characters.

Artillery Barrage: Needs higher range. I want to feel like I am calling down a barrage on my enemies. Who calls a barrage on their feet?

Press Ctrl+F and type in "hard". See how many times the word comes up in this thread. The only people who’ve used it are the ones arguing against auto-loot. Those of us in favour are not saying it’s hard to spam F - we’re saying it’s ANNOYING. Stuff that’s annoying shouldn’t be in a fun game, except as a deterrent from activities we’re not supposed to overdo.
Okay, so you’ve made the argument that leveling and selling on the TP are also unnecessary annoyances, but I completely disagree. Both of those contain elements of choice and they can be fun too. The only choice involved in looting is whether to pick everything up (yes please) or to leave stuff on the ground unless it’s a fancy chest, in case your inventory gets filled with rubbish (turn auto loot off). Having already made the choice (I want everything), I don’t want to have to keep pressing to same button every few seconds to confirm it.
I’ve not really played many FPSs but I think I understand the concept of reloading - it’s an action which entails a situational choice. Not only does it cost you a second in which you cannot fire, for some weapons it consumes additional ammo. You certainly would not want to reload after every single shot (even though you COULD). Instead you CHOOSE when it’s a good time to reload i.e. when you think you’re safe enough to spare that one second, and when you think you might need "a full mag", rather than conserving ammo by using the remainder of your clip. Or whatever... like I said I don’t know FPSs very well. The point is that the choice of reloading is an important part of the game; making it so you never had to reload would be a drastic change to any game. The same cannot be said of spamming F to loot.

The fact that we don’t have a trinity isn’t a proof enough for you? The fact that every class is designed to be useful and fun at all times?

Actually there is an intended trinity, DPS-Support-CC, elements of which are present in every class (some better than others at certain ones). Sure every class CAN be useful but, again, “cheerleader lfg” and suddenly your broad claims of anybody can run however they want disappear. Just because a class CAN be useful doesn’t mean the person running it is doing so appropriately.

He didn’t say that at all… where are you getting that from? The point is that we want to make sure someone isn’t running a cheerleader build. To give a real example, I don’t mind if you’re running soldier’s, knight’s, or zerker’s on your guardian… just so long as it’s not carrion or explorer’s or something. If you have a legitimate argument for running those stats though, I’m willing to hear it. However, if someone wearing PVT gear says they’re in full zerker’s (or vice versa), I think they’re in the wrong for joining a group under false pretences.

Well I’d also be grateful for a “deposit all collectibles” hotkey! I have no problem keeping my inventory from overfilling though; I just merch after the action. Assuming I did fill up though, how would spamming F be any different from autoloot in this case..?

Tapping aoe loot once will loot everything with like… 900 radius? Everything, not 1 bag at a time. You’re not spamming F, you’re tapping it either as you move or as exp indicators pop up.

And that is what I have to do, although it’s not F, it’s a button on my mouse set specifically for the AoE loot rather than interaction. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s an inconvenient and annoying distraction when I’m trying to focus on the fight.

It occurs to me that the arguments against this may be coming from magic find farmers who see looting as an end goal rather than a side reward. For those of us in WvW, loot is rarely the reason to kill people – we do it to support our server, gain WXP, participate in events, and just have fun. Loot is far from the main feature, and I’d still be doing WvW if it was removed completely. Therefore, I strongly dislike having to modify my behaviour (to spam F) to make sure I don’t miss out. Yes, I know I said I don’t care about loot, but if it’s there I don’t want to just leave it. Be honest, which would you find more annoying: killing a foe and receiving no loot, or receiving loot but never getting to pick it up?

You really want the 1 skin from each event to not be a back piece? Gonna make it that much harder to make armor that matches if your gloves are from easter and your helmet’s from christmas.

It may be hard to make it work, at least in your opinion, although maybe there’s someone who wants a “Seasonal Festivity” themed set, with pieces from all around the year. Unfortunately we’ll never get the opportunity to see, because it’s literally impossible to match a backpiece with another backpiece. What we want is the opportunity to use more than one of these rewards together instead of just storing the spare ones in the bank or putting them on different characters.

Yeah dude, all the best players run around naked and take down lupicus with their bare fists! Still, for us “less skilled” mortals who are “dependent” on having decent stats, it’d be nice to not have to run the risk of someone sneaking into the party with terrible gear.
Is there actually a good reason to wear non-max gear? Disregarding fine infusions, it’s all easy enough to come by. If someone is new and hasn’t had time to acquire the gear they want, there are plenty of people willing to take them on the runs (you, for a start) they need. But nobody should be forced to carry others if that’s not what they want to do, and using deception to allow this is highly reprehensible.
