The worst part is that clicking on the confirmation unselects the salvage kit, so when you’re salvaging an inventory full of greens, you have to keep clicking on the kit, which in my case means scrolling to the top and then back down again for the last few items…
And the point is you press F as the fight moves. It’s not rocket science.
You seriously think it’s not a problem to have to spam F while fighting? In an intense combat situation, it drastically hinders your ability to play.
Also, the current ‘autoloot’ ability doesn’t always work. There have been quite a few times I’m on an arrow cart, and I leave it, click ‘R’ (the hotkey button I personally use for interacting) only to find myself picking up 1 loot bag at a time?
That’s happening because you’re standing in range of another interactive object – in this case the arrow cart. You can set up a second hotkey specifically for AoE looting to bypass this problem.
I never played WoW. To be honest that sounds like it’d be great for elitists… why deny them this ability? Perhaps you can explain the downside for me.
Seriously though, people already ask you to ping your gear for PUG CoF runs. Or they can avoid PUGs altogether and just do guild runs… won’t that be great for the community?!
When it comes to interacting with other players, you should always act with honour, respect, and the spirit of teamwork. Lying about your gear to get into a group is dishonourable, ignoring the opinions of your team is disrespectful, and running a selfish setup so you don’t pull your weight… that’s just not okay at all. ANet should not be encouraging such activities, since it erodes the positive feeling in the community, and this is extremely harmful to what the game is all about. Whether they do so by implementing mechanics like magic find gear (which encourages players to drop useful stats for a greater reward) or NOT implementing an inspect system (which would improve player communication) is irrelevant.
I think what I’ve said above is generally agreeable, so the real debate here is whether or not an inspect function would actually facilitate greater player communication. It seems that those in the NO camp are afraid that it would further empower elitists to shut their minds to the possibility of 1) non-meta builds still being good and 2) people running sub-optimal builds being valuable team members.
My question to you is: Why do you want to play with these people? They’re trying to enforce their playstyle upon you (with good reason, as it is demonstrably effective), and you’re stubbornly saying that you don’t want that. If neither of you is willing to change your opinion, you don’t belong in a party together! Don’t lie just to stay in the group!
If I form a group with the specific intent of having everyone running full berserker’s, I will not be happy to carry some randomer wearing magic find… any more than you would if you formed a CoF path 1 and then people voted for path 3.
I understand why one can’t salvage the buggers
excellent, please explain? I suppose you also know why we can’t salvage backpieces (or search for them on the TP)?
You can’t salvage things like Karma EQ or the Invader/WvW stuff because ANet doesn’t want folk to “profit” from Karma. As for backpieces, try searching for Spineguard – that’ll give you some green/yellow options.
Orrian Jewellery Boxes make it entirely possible to profit from karma, far moreso than you’d get from salvaging 42K exotics.
What if I want an exotic backpiece?
Clean up the Scrying Pool in the Hall of Monuments and you’ve got the perfect place for this kind of thing. In Guild Wars 1 it allows you to rewatch Eye of the North cutscenes and play the Hearts of the North missions.

Some time agon Devs made sure all Champs were supposed to at least drop something. Since last patch I have experienced many Champs dropping – nothing at all
That was just for dungeons, although it doesn’t actually apply to all champions in there either… just bosses.
I guess they would have to add in game prenups and divorces as well then. “if we split I get all the Ecto” an so forth. Hah.
“Fine but I’m keeping custody of your warrior!”
You 2 are cute, and I’d love to be able to send my useless account bound stuff (ascended rings say hi) to my girlfriend who might actually use it, but sadly this would be too open to abuse. Account bound items are account bound for a reason.
It IS pointless. I’ve already decided that I want to pick up every single piece of loot, and having to do so manually every time is like having to click a confirmation window every time I want to breathe. It should be automatic, with the option to turn it off if I DON’T want to auto-loot. We’ve already had some nice improvements to the looting system, so you can’t defend its flaws based on the philosophy that ANet actually want it to be an irritating task for players. They are actively trying to make things less annoying for us, and here is a great suggestion to help with that.
Why don’t you go and see? =P
Even if we can’t have fast trait swapping, I would love to be able to instantly switch all of my optional skills. In WvW I use completely different skills for running and fighting, and manually switching them one at a time is painful. Including equipment in these templates would be wonderful too.
The point it to not make racials OP.
Some racials definitely have room to be buffed without becoming op atm.
Racials can be used by any class so their capacity for synergy with every single build in the game has to be considered before making them stronger.
… ok
i think youre missing the point.
some racials are very weak and do not have any synergy with any class whatsoever at all due to them being much much better options available for every other class.
I’m afraid you’re missing the point. Racials have too many possible combinations with other classes to ever balance them properly. As it is Radiation Field is really strong with certain builds, giving an unfair advantage to asura when playing a class vs class duel.
If they buffed more racial skills this would be even worse. Racials are meant to be slightly weaker to avoid problems like all rangers being charr because of some crazy synergy with ranger traits and charr racials.
They’ve specifically said they don’t want people to build around racial skills, they’re just there for a bit of flavour.
im not saying buff the already viable racials. im saying buff the racials that are weak right now.
Apart from Radiation Field, they’re all dreadful.
…still, who cares about balance? You can’t use them in SPvP anyway, and it’s obvious that ANet don’t care much about balancing the rest of the game. Give us useful racial skills and maybe a racial trait line… oh and another 20 levels to earn the points to put in that line. That should do fine.
Haven’t been to Aurora’s Remains yet.
If you played GW1, you’re in for a nostalgic treat!
I really want them to implement your system.
Yeah I could happily talk to NPCs for hours reading these stories, but tabbing out of the game to look at some barely relevant nonsense completely destroys the immersion.
You could set up a macro to spam the loot key, although I’m not sure that’s permitted by the ToS. Personally I’d just like to have all drops go straight to my inventory.
Dungeons don’t count for world completion, but WvW does.
Looking at the globe in the Chantry of Secrets, you can extrapolate from what we can actually measure (the accessible zones of Tyria) and realise that the planet is tiny. It’s really not spinning fast at all.
With the Explorer ones, you have to go to various out-of-the-way locations that aren’t required for map completion. Okay so most of them are jumping puzzles and mini achievements, but there are a few places (Aurora’s Remains is an excellent example) that you wouldn’t normally go to but there’s something interesting to reward you for looking.
When you enter an explorable dungeon, the goal is already determined. Choosing the path IS choosing the method. In CoF for example, your goal is to take a dump on the Flame Legion, and you choose whether to destroy their new weapon, defeat Baelfire’s ghost, or kill the new tribune. All of those options serve the same goal. TA is an even better example – all routes lead the same end boss, and you kill the same 3 Nightmare Court fools along the way.
What you’re asking for is more variance within each dungeon path (a bit like whether or not to kill the inquest in CoE path 1?), and yes that would be cool. Random different encounters like in the dredge fractal and Molten Foundry would also be sweet.
Side quests? Sure, that’s what I was expecting when I heard about “explorable” dungeon paths, and I was disappointed to find that they’re all just linear stories.
Maybe take some inspiration from the Molten Foundry for the traps? This looks like a potentially awesome guild puzzle.
I believe the game carries on counting, so the information is stored but not displayed. That means they could implement this retroactively.
I find it hard to imagine a situation where someone would actually want a completed achievement to remain in the watchlist. It’d also be nice if I could customise the order of display so that the ones that require actual effort can be at the top instead of migrating further down because I’m not going out of my way to do them… If this was implemented I’d watch all my dailies and do them in my own logical order. This would make me smile hugely.
Just double the current rewards or whatever, don’t add anything new. People should want to take part in every event they see (if they have time), and it’s not much fun to do events you’ve done many times before.
Option 1: Implement a “Deposit All Collectibles” hotkey in the Control Options, perhaps under Miscellaneous or User Interface, and let us bind it wherever we want. I’d probably do Alt-I, because I’d want it to be easy to remember but difficult to do on accident – I’m altering my inventory!
OMG ORGASM
/facepalm
I suggest you look up the definition of the word “explorer”.
So what you’re saying is you want the ability to delete your brother?
Rata Sum and The Grove are confusing enough as it is… unless they make the vertical map system less annoying, I’m not hugely in favour of vertical zones.
They should just give bigger rewards for events in general. This would be lush in WvW.
It’s a cool idea, buttt if you could use the awesome aspect skills it’d be OP, and if you couldn’t it’d make no sense.
Surely the JPs and Explorer achievements fit your Inspiring category? I do agree that we could do with less Optional and absolutely no Unavoidable achievements, but to say that we have no good ones at all is a bit excessive.
Those dungeon goals you describe sound exactly like what we have already: a choice between several explorable paths. And guess what, you DO get achievements for doing all the different dungeon paths!
Not that I really care either way, but why do some people seem to think that getting a portal to the end chest is “experiencing the content”, and that if this option is removed, they’ll be missing out on something more than a fungible reward and an achievement?
IC: Magic weapons are not crafted to withstand physical blows: that’s why they’re crafted by artificers rather than weaponsmiths. A staff or want would just… break.
OOC: I’d rather they took the time and introduced actual pole-arms and actual spears (they’re not interchangeable).
What do these have to do with “in combat” and “out of combat”?
What am I going to do with blueprints? I can’t sell them or trade them to a WvWer.
Yes you can.
It already exists and is widely used, particularly in Russia.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Remove-the-cap-on-conditions/first
Conditions are capped due to technical difficulties, not because they thought having more than 25 bleeds on a target would be op.
True, but removing the cap WOULD be overpowered, at least in WvW. For large world events where you’re fighting a boss with several billion health, condition builds are worthless because you’ll easily hit the cap just from all the people running zerker’s or whatever.
In a dungeon, you shouldn’t be running a condition build anyway koz conditions are weak in PvE, so you have yourself to blame if you face this problem there. The problem is not the cap, but the fact that conditions just can’t do as much as direct damage. Of course, if they fixed this problem by buffing conditions, more people would run condition builds and then hitting the cap would become a real problem.
For now though, just stop running underpowered condition builds, and watch in amazement as your problem melts away before your eyes.
You already can delete posts… your own, anyway. I recommend doing so.
Give us the rune of holding for 250 badges and 1g or something? Then we can choose what type of bag we want to craft.
Actually engineers have less, but that’s not the point – you have no cooldown on any of those weapon skills, so why the tears?
While I’ve known about the red-bar range indicator for a while, I think a range finder, as suggested by the OP, would still be useful. If it’s not difficult to implement, and the devs have the spare time, I’m all for this.
yes, especially as the red bar is useless for ground-targeted skills
There is no reason to remove the fee. I’d pay for it as long as I could do it anytime I wanted to outside of combat (for obvious reasons).
Give it to us and charge us for it. Please?
The fee is a mild discouragement to try different builds, leading people to insist on sticking themselves in a rut… and it really isn’t a very effective gold sink.
If you have only a little information about a coming update, your imagination can run wild and you’ll enjoy the anticipation of what cool stuff might be coming. Surprises are fun! Unfortunately, if everything is readily available beforehand, the surprise is completely ruined. Not looking at the “preview” just gives you a false sense of anticipation, especially when everyone else is looking.
How about kicking someone boots them into a private instance. If they are booted anywhere near the chest. They can still get it.
Put a timer on the private instance, so AFK people get booted out of that too.
Most of the time, the kick will occur before the final boss is done.
IF it was possible to make another copy of the instance for a kicked player (and that’s a big IF), they could then add their own friends or whatever to finish off the boss. The obvious problem is that you could abuse that system infinitely, sooo it’s not gonna happen.
Vapor Form makes you invulnerable, allows you to move (out of AoE at least, if not to a truly safe spot), and resets your downed state so you don’t die. It has saved many, many lives, even in PvE.
I’m afraid I couldn’t understand your explanation, but I’ll just say this:
If thieves can still use stealth to almost infallibly escape from any battle once they realise they’re losing, stealth is still broken.
Any time you die, one piece will damage. After 9 deaths, one piece will break.
Count their deaths if you must.
You can’t know whether it was damaged when they came in, or if they use a repair canister… and you might not see them go to the repair NPC.
a maximum of 10 matches for the Monthly
Good luck getting 20 wins in 10 matches!
Every time you use a skill with Signet of Restoration on passive, it counts as using a heal skill. A trait that triggered every time would be OP.
