Oh, Deniara again, so great at dodging challenges and telling fairytales on the internet… I was waiting the entire week for you to reply to my challenge – nothing. Clever tactics to wait til close to reset before posting crap about Buka again… pathetic.

@ Ajaxx:

We field two fulltime mesmers (one of them just rejoined this week after having break from zerging on lower pop server). The others are just twinks.

You 5 man was heavily missed, Ajaxx (no joke). Start reactivating/recruiting, please.

Map Hopping - Fair?

Thanks for bringing this up, Chiolas. Borderland jumping blobs are (imo) one of the main causes for zergy gameplay and karmatrain meta. People stop caring and upgrading their borderlands because the superior server will just merge all people available to build an unbeatable deathball and roll the maps step by step (hello vizunah and elona).

As soon as one borderland is recolored the deathball will move on, leaving a deserted borderland behind, nobody will stay behind to defend or upgrade, i mean its easier to stay with the blob and jump back one hour later and do the same again.

It just sucks out all the fun for servers who can`t compete numberwise and completely destroys any chance to at least defend one borderland properly. The fact alone that it gives huge advantages to the superior server should be reason enough to rethink this mechanic. Another zerg-favoring implementation that works against people splitting onto their borderlands somewhat equally.

Best regards.

Looking forward to the result of the discussion.

Your guild officer did indeed contact me and clarified that your opinion is neither representing the guilds official position, nor the opinion of their members, including him.

I highly respect his efforts to clean up your mess and there`s no feelings hurt on our side. I`d appreciate if you could stay on facts in future and keep your frustration and assumptions for yourself.

All I see is a forum warrior trying to dodge my challenge…

Who is this mysterious Desolation player that knows exactly what gear we are wearing? Must`ve been a [TLA] player, I don`t know them, never see them, but apparently they know everything and give us beatings everyday…

Deniara, I don`t know in what world you live in, but nobody except our shatter mesmers is running gc or berserker gear at all… where do you got your information from? I haven`t seen any [TLA] tag ever in this matchup, so either you just die before I notice or you are flat out spitting nonsense.

We die easily in small numbers? Against your blobs, maybe…

I challenge you to find some friends and have a 5vs5 (i mean, you [TLA] guys seem to be super awesome players and we die easily when we`re low on numbers, right?) vs [Buka] to prove your big mouth is backed up by skill and that you`re not just a kittenhurt forum warrior crying… Feel free to contact me.

You are a funny little man, Dominik.

By the way, who are you? What`s your problem? Is your problem addressing me or the guild in general?

Tell me, who is it, that`s hurting your feelings, mate? It seems you feel hurt quite a lot, at least anough to backstab me on the forum and pull generalizations out of your kitten.

In case you have complaints about me or my guild why don`t you contact us directly, since we`re on the same server? How would you like me being as smart as you and pulling your guild through dirt just because I don`t like you?

@ MagnusLL:

Why do you act as if this was a phenomenon solely concerning Deso? Ask some Kodash BL commanders about their feelings, i`m confident you would identify similarities pretty soon.

But it seems I was right, your way past the point where you would consider not proving to anybody that you are the kid who got hurt the most. It`s ok, have fun complaining…

Pathetic attitude, MagnusLL. We are not in the same situation, never doubted that, but we are indeed in a similar situation: Mass exodus of guilds due to being locked for months as the weakest contender in unwinnable matchups…

But it`s ok, oh so poor Deso is a special little princess that deserves to cry the loudest. Please don`t bother arguing with me, you seem to feel very comfortable playing the victim, no point in discussing with such people.

I`m enjoying this matchup already a lot more than last week`s. A lot of roamers and people who like to fight, Piken was somewhat different, they prefer running and waiting for the odds being in their favor before considering to fight.

But please, could someone ask this Deniara guy to stop venting his frustration in each and every thread around? Kodash has been in quite a similar situation, past matchup information is accessible for anyone interested, but I don`t read nearly as much crying from the entire Kodash server compared to Deniara alone.

Thank you for your understanding and good luck & have fun.

Moon.6371

Unfortunately, for me personally, this has been one of the saddest weeks smallscale wise for some months. I expected a lot going into this, having fond memories of beautiful fights vs the tiptop smallscale Pikeneers from last year. TUP, Necr and the likes gave me the wvw experience I am (still) looking for.

Same for Augury Rock, after Arborstone crashed, Kodash had the pleasure to fight you guys and it was amzing. You had at least three very potent 5-10 mans roaming the maps, avoiding zergs, just looking for pvp-action. PRD (former Arborstone smallscale guild) leading the way with exceptional individual player quality.

This week totally lacked that, every attemp to find smallscale primetime is negated by massive lags, off primetime people just leave entire borderlands, instead merge into the biggest borderland jumping karmatrain possible and crush doors or smallscale groups stupid enough standing in their way. Ten minutes later the newly colored borderland will be completely deserted again, due to the jumping blob leaving to another borderland.

On the contrary, I want to show my utmost respect to the only exception to this serverwide phenomenon. To the piken guild called [TNTD] or something similar (apologize, i`m really bad with tags and names): You guys rock, you gave us amazing fights whenever we met you, you played smart but did not wait for and rely on overwhelming reinforcements – it was awesome.

My summary of this week:
Where did all the smallscalers go?

Oh no, pikes prove they are pikes again… zerg the kitten out of the borderlands, then come to the forums and cry as loud as possible about the terrible, terrible blobbing of others.

Sorry to break it to you, piken square is just another zerg server. The special flavour piken had is long gone. The only thing left is a few diehard deniers who live in their own dreamworld and try as hard as possible to compensate with forum wars.

It`s been a long time since I`ve met a server with such low individual player quality as seen tonight. But I have to say, you guys are pretty good at running. The only exception tonight was GH, but thats not roaming, that`s monotag zergs crushing pugs. Well done.

On the contrary, Augury roamers seemed to have something called fighting spirit and actually tried to engage even against the odds.

Come on, Dawdler, keep on bragging…

Sorry Blackwyn, I cannot take you serious. Kodash has lots of decent roaming guilds with players willing to engage into almost any situation (FB, WdR, GC, NSG, Bots, Buka and I`m confident, there`s many more) if you would roam a lot on borderlands (EB is different) as you are saying, you would`ve met them already and I bet your tone would be entirely different.

So either you don`t roam a lot or you just picked the one incident were you happened to meet some world completionists, fair weather wvw`ers or simply bad players. During the past weeks was plenty of opportunity to meet the challenging guys. As I cannot find any of your posts mentioning this I`m still assuming you`re just talking crap.

You playing thief makes it also very easy for non-veteran players to just not feel able coping with your class. If you have mastered thief in wvw you shouldn`t die to anything below three experienced players. You can always hide and run if the fight does not go your way (I mained thief myself for a long time).

Keep us updated about the borderland you visit, I will make sure you won`t be disappointed in finding proper fights.

Hmm, how to word it?

I`ve played BB many times since september, you had somewhat built up a server identity (lots of players, strong nightshift, gc gear, not as coordinated but very aggressive and very akin to the never give up, never surrender philosophy) that made you very likeable.

It seems since certain guilds came back to your server, Baruchos on the forum have a very flawed view of their own servers performance and/or try to belittle others just because they (the others) didn`t have the luck/opportunity to attract premade-guild groups.

My point about your reasoning was, that I feel changes to matchmaking and/or ingame tools won`t ever be able to handle the constant fluctuation of population (= server strength) enough to be sufficiently reliable. I agree, some of the tools you listed would certainly help and improve the wvw longterm experience hugely.

However, I feel, to manage matchup imbalances properly there is also need to implemented weighted point ticks according to the number of players active at that particular time.

I am an off-prime time player myself and I wouldn`t feel that my achievements are diminished, just because points are ticking slower, when there are less people online. I mean, it just is so much easier to cap and decap at night/off-primetime because even in (former) EU T1 there`s empty/almost empty borderlands. Why should my time spent at odd times playing have so much more impact in comparison (looking at the 1 week cycle), when I have literally less resistance.

Additionally, the splitting of WXP is just not handled correctly for any PvP Setting. I won`t go into this, but your first paragraph made it sound as if these issues were somewhat non-legit complaints.

Hope, I made my point a bit more clear. No offense, I`m still a big fan of your tool suggestions.

@ Dominik:

Because the bland conquest mode of tpvp with almost 50% of the maps sucking heavily is just not what I expect from PvP. It is appealing, but not as much as Open-World-PvP with all the beautiful tactical options offered by open terrain and focus on actually killing enemy players…

I have absolutely no issues with big armies, with defending, point playing, etc. I love strategy. But I have issues with brain afk monotag zergers demanding everyone to cater to their style of play and hanging to the illusion it would be o-so-skillful PvP they are doing.

You`ll never find most of these guys in smaller groups where they have to actually prove their mechanical abilities, but you will find them here on the forums, crying about pugs, blobs, arrowcarts and whatever they feel the need to cry about if people choose to play the game differently (o the irony).

In what world do you live, where 20vs20 is considered smallscale? It is about a fourth of your own servers map population, thats not small by any means. The group control and ae restrictions suggest, that 5 mans is the optimal minimum setup (hint: minimum setup = small scale). However, combining these groups is absolutely legit, but not smallscale anymore, sorry.

@ Snowstorm:

But don`t you minimize the chances for fair/amazing fights the bigger your group gets? Not only because of the limitations of personal impact but also the (key-) point of finding proper groups to fight? Isn`t it illusionary to demand every matchup to provide a wide variety of equally sized guilds? Why not breaking up your monotag ball if there`s just nothing equal to fight (keep in mind 20 man is probably 1/4th of one servers whole borderland population)?

I was really impressed this morning with BB, I`ve met more people actually willing to fight smallscale than during the past 4 weeks with SFR. Less bragging, less hiding in big groups, but very aggressive – kudos!

You never see the so called pro SFR guilds run with less than 5 people, they just never dare to. Even off prime time, if their guild zerg is not raiding, they just merge into the largest blob possible on eternal brackets most of the time.

Special mentions to the BB engineer from [MMO], you know how to play, good show.

I guess part of what Atoss meant, was that the vast majority of challenges tied to 25 man raids are organizational ones. Class & build setup, etc pp. But the executional part is very limited due to the number of participants involved (25 vs 25 = 50 people) in the fight and strict movement patterns to mitigate ae incoming (comparing it to smaller scale fights).

Thus, the challenge for the leader is quite huge, but it is very top down and less demanding for the ordinary footman, because the number of actions that need to be performed to win the fight is not as high as in fights with less people involved (constant re-priorization of focus targets, cd management, interrupts, blocks, stunbreakers, traveling skills, etc.).

I do admire potent raid leaders for their ability to plan and organize so many guys into a well coordinated team but as I said before, I feel like these are the same organizational challenges PvE-raids are facing. The individual player`s mechanics, apm and overall decisionmaking capabilites are not as important, even if they still make a difference.

Anyways, have fun and good luck!

To sum up Aikanaro:

-I am so stronk because I always walk with my 24 guild buddies!
-I am so stronk because I can tell 24 people to stay close to me!
-I am so stronk because we actually manage to stack might and classes!

Dude, you don`t know what fun you miss out on, just riding the zerg wave… and yeah… RG… what can I say, well coordinated zerging guild but match them vs any decent small scalers and they will fall like flies (equal numbers given)… been there, seen it numerous times when they happened to be on servers Kodash fought against.

Again, no insult, just my personal observation.

Best regards
