I am not really a fan of a account wide mastery system at all. They said they wanted that we are able to level our characters after getting to the max level right? So why then make a account wide mastery system? I mean it makes no sense that if I earned 100 points on my war, my new necromancer can use those 100 points instantly. So a character that never has been in the jungle can already be a master in surviving there.
If they are going to implement this account wide mastery system then I prefer the way you described (same for all the characters).
btw. However I hope they rethink the name for germany: Widergänger is such a silly name.

Oh, I do…
Doesn`t change how others will call it in the german community or on TS, or so
Touché, but still you can play with non-german people or a mix
hm…am i the only one seeing this thing ugly? wooden stick + glow woohoo. even tempest staff is more appealing, not saying crossing, delusion, zodiac, ascended, phoenix..and many more. hope its not new legendary
You are probably not a member of the #NornFamily… It doesn’t matter if it’s a leggy or not, we the norns need that weapon! uh they should add mor of those with the other spirit of the wild animals…
as some kind of new cultural weapons why not, but i dont think it should be legendary
New cult weapons also sounds pretty cool. Still I hope that the new leggy’s are a bit more beautiful then those cult weapons.. Imagine what I should do with my money if I can buy cult weapons with karma … #thoughlife

Dervish: Revenant – It remains to be seen exactly how they play out, but with their current description, all this Specialization really needs to do is switch “channel legends” with “channel gods.” Well, it also needs access to “whirling” attacks and outfits, but they were certainly fighters, and AoE ones at that, like Rytlock zipping around in the trailer.
So… If I am a charr revenant and I choose to specialize I am channeling to some silly human gods? Realize that Dervish won’t be available in the game as specialisation because the diversity in races (with different beliefs and gods for example Human gods an the spirits of the wild of the Norn) is too big. Maybe a class is able to do so, but a specialisation.. no…
Also there are 6 human gods and only 4 class mechanic abilities, so which ones should they choose.. I don’t think it’s going to happen…
#RitualistAsSpecialisation
I’m really excited to see the new legendaries. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first set with so many silly weapons (and I’m sure we will see more, which is fine for those that like them) but I did have to make a Howler and I love it!
But when hearing we would have a new set I would love to get a little teaser!
On a side note, as a norn ranger… if this ends up being the legendary staff I might actually die!
It’s kind of sad to see he has 25.000 gold in his inventory but looks ugly as hell … #TotalMakeover

Actually, I’d say it’s safe to say you won’t need the expansion for the WvW map. Could you imagine that? Sorry, you can’t play during this rotation, when it was totally free before. That’s bad business.
I’ll eat my hat if I’m wrong, but I’d imagine this is going to be like how WoW handles expansions.
Frist stop comparing GW2 to WoW as it are two complete different games with different policies from the developing company’s.
Second I think you can eat your hat (I have some salt and pepper for you if like) because it’s mentioned at the announcement for an XPAC. Why announce something at the announcement for an XPAC if it’s not going to be in the XPAC? Exactly there is no reason to do that so they also won’t do that… With other words I think it will be: New WvW map == buy HoT. I don’t really looked into the rotation section yet (also don’t know if there is any info at all on that as well) so I don’t know how it will work ,if you are just not able to play WvW at all or able to join on EB or something like that..
just be patient for more info about all the stuff in WvW…
What worries me is not the fact that we are here speculating how many maps we will get……….
It is the fact that Anet is reading this and they are not saying anything about this…………………….
Why the silence? Maybe we are right?
1 word 9 characters… Marketing
Maybe it works differently as it would be a heavy copy of a ele.
When you channel to someone you will get a certain buff. Also when channeling to a certain legendary person you will get increased stats. So for Jalis Ironhammer it would be like +150 vitality & thoughness + a buff that gives you protection everytime you hit someone (with a few secs cooldown) and gives regeneration when you are hit.
it’s just a concept, nothing confirmed etc etc. I just hope it’s not a exact copy of the engi or ele mechanics…
I prefer if you can only get the new legends with collections because that would mean less people with legends, also less people that buy them of the tp instead of crafting.
I think collections will cause more legendary’s because people won’t spend that much money on a legendary… #LegendaryWars2
I hope they won’t make it changeable in dungeons… Being able to change traits and skills makes stuff easy already… making the specialisations also changeable in dungeons sucks really hard… #PermanentInCombatInDungeons
I would channel

An area is a subdivision of an explorable zone.
A zone, also referred to as an explorable zone, is a type of location. Zones encompass a number of smaller areas; multiple zones form a region.
A region is a named collection of different types of locations, including cities, explorable zones, and instanced areas
so basicly this (yes there are more but these are available at this point or probably will become available in the upcoming xpac):
Ascalon
Kryta
Maguuma Jungle
Maguuma Wastes
Ruins of Orr
Shiverpeak Mountains
Tarnished Coast
Map is the whole world. Also if you press ‘M’ ingame (by default) it opens up the whole world, so yeah ‘M’ to open up the Map sounds pretty legit to me… (if you keybinded the map to A of area, Z of Zone, or R of region you are just stupid ).
Just to prevent alot of confusion in upcoming posts please use the right names so everyone knows what you are talking about…
I think that those precursors will be obtainable as drops from certain events / loot in the jungle but with a very low chance. So they still can be bought on the TP. So you get to choose to grind a collection or to grind monehhyyss…
Per the mmorpg.com interview:
“All collections are account-based, so there’s one collection per precursor per account”
This said I think that the precursors you get from the collections will be account bound or the money grind will be way too easy. Also if it is account bound, why would you want to do it twice? As you get the skin of the legendary anyways you won’t need another precursor for the same legendary.
That staff fits norns soooo much:)
Norn, I need to expand my norn Tj Tjson/dottir familly
It will probably be female cause female’s are sexyyy
I thought it as pretty much debunked that Spears would be useable on land. Just the art team having a bit of fun.
then staff would be a melee weapon, and the revenant gets access to scepter sword focus and shield.
spear
staff
sword
focus
shield
I think the revenant won’t get alot of weapons same as engi and ele cause of the class mechanic
No one is pointing out that the three “Mursaat” in the trailer have different colours?
There’s blue, red and yellow. Also they only have two energy tendrils coming out of their backs instead of the typical 14 black feathers. The one at the end also looks nothing like a Mursaat in body and attacking stance.
I’m not at all convinced these are Mursaat, in fact they appear to be much more like Djinn.
In that vid it is clearly visible that is has feet, so that it’s a snake is rubbish
I don’t see any feet, not at 1:00 or at 2:48.
Also, Flame and Diamond Djinn don’t have 4 arms. But I digress, to me they are as alien to Mursaat as they are to Djinn.
you watched the wrong video…
https://heartofthorns.guildwars2.com/en#section-game
watch the video on the right side (story trailer) at 0:33. It’s the vid you see after you completed LS season 2.
only one? but thats not specialising, thats just extending – specialisation means to concentrate on and become expert in a particular subject or skill, if theres only one path to choose, you cant say you’re concentrating on a particular subject/skill now can you
it’s not extending as you are ‘exchanging’ skills and traits for new ones that is only available for your specialization.

Djinn have 4 arms. Don’t see 4 arms on them. Unless all of them got 2 arms amputated…
In the story trailer at 0:33 there is the same creature, which looks alot like a mursaat, but then in a shiny form and without those unhandy 14 stick backpiece… maybe they got the option as well in their equipment interface panel to disable their backpiece
In that vid it is clearly visible that is has feet, so that it’s a snake is rubbish

Using this theory would suggest that HoT’s release date was on 28 August 2013.. Wait! Did I miss someting!? :O
Kuunavang!
#Kuunavangingw2 maybe not in the way we expected it to be..
…And yes it’s nit-picky
End of thread
he’s giving up \o/ :P
Static means stationary in any form other than relating to potential eletrical energy generated by serparation of postive or negative charges… I’m not going into detail.
The correct term you’re looking for is electrostatic discharge, which is the ‘arc’ created as the flow of free electron passess across an air gap between charged surfaces…
It’s nit-picking really as the phenomenon is quite commonly refered to as static shock or discharge as the ‘shock’ and ‘discharge’ don’t relate to anything other than wigglies :-D
Trust me, I’m an engineer… no really… I’m a real life engineer… Aeronautical Engineer, Senior Supervisor, Petty Officer, Fleet Air Arm, Royal Navy.
Yes, but the phenomenon is electrostatic discharge (in short ESD) but fact is that the term ESD isn’t used my people that are not familiar with electronics. And that’s the point, why call a trait of an engineer from a point of view of a non-engineer.
I mean why do proffesional electronic engineers (like I am, won’t call myself professional though as I am still studying) call it ESD? and not just say it’s static. for example: ESD pincet, ESD bags, ESD wristbands or in sentences: ’it’s destroyed cause of ESD’ etc.
ow and : Trust me, I’m an engineer… no really… I’m a real life engineer… atleast I’m studying for it :P
And yes it’s nit-picky and yes I have to less work to do etc. and no you ain’t gonna call my boss.
Some people said it takes forever to convert SP’s to gold. And if you dont wait long enough for your kitten to sell, you lose money. They should definitly get rid of tomes and skillpoints or make a way to convert it EASELY without risking to lose money.
I have 5k skillpoints and im sure if I tried to convert, I would end up losing money cuz I dont like waiting for items to sell.
You could have upgraded T4 snowflakes to T5 snowflakes. 80 SP would give you like 30 – 40g profit. Not the best way to make money with skill points but it was pretty fast. Also there are still enough ways to make money with skill points, you just need to see them and sometimes accept that you won’t get that much money per skill point if you really want to get rid of them
Elixir Gun does not fire ‘Elixir’. Engi got a sum of name issues
yes and no, as 2 out of 5 skills have name and description that says that it is shooting with a elixir (elixir F and super elixir skill 2 and 5). The elixir gun is just also shooting with other things.
Never really looked to what it’s really shooting, but then it’s more a fault of the guy who modelled the projectiles for those attacks.
For average folks here, it’s the same, but a engineer is always correct in the use of his words in these situations.
A electronic engineer won’t say that static, as it has different meanings. He would say it’s electronically charged or it’s electric static. but not static.
A mechanical engineer will also say the same, cause in their point of view if something is static it means that it is not moving, or rotating.
that’s why a engineer always uses electric static discharge instead of static discharge. Common folks don’t say things with a point of view of an engineer so yes they say it’s static if it’s electrically charged and will say it’s not moving when it’s static.
As we are playing the class engineer all terms should be from a point of view of an engineer, and not that from a common folk.
2 or 3 totally new weapons, 1 additional skill per weapon that can be swapped out for another skill of that weapon, 1 skill per sort of utility (so for guard for example 1 signet 1 shout 1 consecration 1 spirit 1 meditation 1 elite, we already got the healing skill)
and 1 extra racial skill for each race
ow and also a new class
I think I am the only person who cares about the name of a trait here, that’s probably cause I’m bored at work here . It’s about one of the most used traits for engineer, Static Discharge. This name is actually incorrect. It should be Electric Static Discharge (ESD), which sometimes can be a serious problem for electronical engineers in real life. So why did they came up with a name that actually doesn’t make sense at all? I mean a bit of research (search for static discharge on google) and you’ll find all kind of information about electric static discharge and nothing about static discharge…
I know how it’s done, and it’s not possible on every profession. As far as I know only engi’s can get in the outer part of hills.
It’s the player’s fault for abusing this, and not Anet’s fault. Yes they should fix it. If you use it you can get banned, altough if it’s used for map completion I 100% understand why it’s done xD #saynotomapcompletion
Mortar needs some major buffing. First of all why is it not considered a turrets for traits?
Supply crate’s turrets are affected by traits as is the elixir X by proper elixir traits.2nd of all what is it with it’s paper defenses? Just one look at that thing (along with stability) screams that it’s one heavy, sturdy piece of hardware. So why it breaks apart so easily? Especially given it’s stationary and cannot be picked up or detonated like a turet for last second advantage before it’s busted to pieces.
What’s with the kittenty range? It’s a MORTAR kitten. It’s my own elite tool for some LONG range death from above for my party. It’s range should be on par with environmental siege weapons. Also the projectiles should move faster. This is not “for fun targeting practice” on renowned heart, it’s an elite. A skill to turn the tide of battle. And here’s the important part for those of a-net devs that missed it:
in my favour, not the enemy’s!
Elixer X is not effected by Traits…
wiki says it does:
Using the trait Elite Supplies or Potent Elixirs increases Tornado and Whirlpool duration to 18 seconds, and increases Rampage and Plague duration to 25 seconds. Using Elite Supplies and Potent Elixirs in conjunction does not increase the time further.
This skill’s recharge time is affected by Fast Acting Elixirs.
The bonus 1 regeneration is 2 seconds instead of 1. There is no internal cooldown.
The bonus 4 triggers after the heal from bonus 6.
The bonus 6 heals for 3920 + 0.6 * Healing Power at level 80.
the notes of the rune on wiki. You can say alot but that heal rocks pretty hard. 0.6 * healing power is also alot. It’s like 75%+ (depending on your healing power) of what you would get from your healing turret (without the blast finisher). Also it appears that you get aegis when you block an attack cause bonus 4 triggers on bonus 6 of the rune. Which means that it is counted as a healing skill. So it would also work with traits like enhance performance (gain might on use healing skill).
ain’t it the movement bug that is in the game for a pretty long time?? If so try to use a emote, like /dance /sit and try to move again. Or use a leap skill can help too
They should not make changes to skills itself or amulet, but they should make a change in how combo’s work.
I think that they should remove boon duration as a stat, and make a new stat ‘support power’ or something like that (don’t care about the name).
more points in this stat will increase the effect of a combo. So some one that has no points in this stat give only 5 seconds of 3 stack might with a blast in a fire field and someone with alot points in this will get 20 seconds of 3 stack might. It’s just an idea, but I can guarantee that this will be a better solution then adding more boon steal / strip in this game, chagnign the celestial sigil or changing skills.
This will change the game experience alot, in my opinion in a good way. Combo’s is the thing that is OP here, not the skills, not the amulet.
bad idea + Anet will never do this…
I always place a portal from beast to mid. 1 person goes home, 3 to beast. 90% of the time I get at mid the beast just got killed, so no time loss.
When doing this you get the 25 points, + the bonus you can use to win the fight on mid. If they go for beast too, you can easily focus down the one or 2 persons on mid and have a easy fight. Using this tactic has been working very efficient for me / my team.
but ofc not every team has a mesmer (and also not every mesmer has a portal equipped), would skip beast then too and go for mid from the start.
remember that it takes atleast 30 days (assuming you don’t have charged quartz crystals yet) to make celestial exotic or ascended armor. I personally think it is a waste to make exotic celestial armor is you intent to make ascended celestial armor in a later stadium.
As acotje said, look to what you play the most, and what gear you have now. for example if you have exotic berserker / assassins armor you’d better go for ascended celestial and keep the exotic berserker / assassins armor. Personally the difference between exotic and ascended ain’t that much.
In regular jumping puzzles you don’t walk through walls and fall through terrain…
Doesn’t the LA (i think) pirate JP have walls you walk through?
Really though, The OP seems to agree with glitching under the world to be an exploit. Logically that would mean that using unintended methods of avoiding barriers they surely put there with the intention of stopping you is wrong, correct?
Why wouldn’t that allow apply to the bosses and major events of the path?
Using a JP to skip trash I think could be argued either way. Using it to skip bosses seems pretty strait forward exploit.
What about the lions arch jumping puzzle that has that sick skydive at the end.
That’s the pirate JP.
But those walls are marked with lit torches to aid players finding them. Unlike in Arah.
I agree with you, they should add those torches in arah aswell :P
emotes work, you could always use the /emote ‘type stuff here’ thing… They only won’t see your name but ‘server name’ ‘wvw rank’ ‘your emote’
would be a nice counterplay to all the 25stack might bunkers
Let’s make it a boon steal instead then
with tool kit skill 2 you will place caltrops around you that cripple and bleed foes.
with tool kit skill 4 you have a 3 second block.
those are pretty huge when in a situation where you need to defend yourself
when you are traited with Elite Supplies trait your mortar skills will have 1500 range, which is the same range as the grenades. The explosion radius of the mortar skill 1 is 180, the auto attack of the grenade kit is 120, shrapnel nade is 150 and freeze nade is 240. This means that the mortar is actually able to damage people further with auto attacks. freeze nade can damage further then auto attacks of the mortar. Although the concussion barrage (skill 5 of the mortar) has a radius of 360.
Conclusion: Mortar is able to damage people from a further distance, but the difference is soo little that the mortar is a waste for those situations.
Both the mortar and nades don’t have enough range to put some pressure on capture points in PVP from another capture point. It could be cool though in some situations, mortar on top of the building in the middle on temple of the silent storm, with the ability to shoot on the Gate capture point and the stillness buff. I have 0 experience with the mortar skills if they are even worth taking over supply kit.
They really should increase the range of the mortar, I mean we can throw nades 100 units further then the mortar can shoot. I would suggest a 2500 range for the mortar, as you are not able to move while using it and a enemy can get close fast enough.
