do you not see how stupid this is? a norn ride a dolyak a charr ride a chopper -_-, my characters are norn and i would not want to see one ride a kitten dolyak and even if they intrigated that into the game im not paying gems to ride a ugly fat dolyak even if you can “customize” it by giving it a purple dye etc its stupid….. just enjoy the kitten game and stop whinging about mounts that wouldnt even play right in the game its silly nonsense

What about a mechanical dolyak? Asuran hoverboards. Sylvari could float around on big leaves. Humans could ride pigs.

I somehow can hardly believe that.
But than again, i cant believe that anyone is buying these boosters either.

There are a lot of people with a lot of money to blow. And they don’t mind doing it. I couldn’t bring myself to purchase the same armor skin twice.

PvE Skin locker

Yeh a pvp skin locker would be cool but wheres the gem profit with bank / bag slots then?
It would decrease so i think this will never be implemented… unfortunately

If they implement a Skin Locker, it won’t be free. I’d imagine they’d charge 400 gems or so for say…. 8-10 Skin spaces. That way it wouldn’t hurt sales much at all.

The Merchant uses superior bartering skills to quickly bankrupt his enemies.

Should be an exciting class.

Give it an ability in a Trait line that cuts the TP fees by 50% and it will be the most popular class in the game.

The Merchant also gets one random Gemstore “promotion” each day.

PvE Skin locker

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Nat.4029

This has been suggested before and I’m doubtful on it’s implementation, however want to bring it up again since the “suggestion” forum is no longer active.

I want to change the look of my PvE toon, but have some nice armor on him already (actually this applies to multiple toons really). Unfortunately carrying around a full set of armor or two per toon takes up too much bank space. Why can’t I file this in a locker and retrieve as necessary.

Now ideally I’d like to simply be able to collect skins (much like the achievement skins). Meaning destroy the armor or weapon to salvage it’s skin and save that in a locker. Then be able to retrieve such skin at a later time to apply to an item. This would be a huge QoL improvement for me and others like me. It would also create a “gotta collect them all” mentality in many of us so that we would start buying or hunting weapons/armor to complete the locker set.

I posted something similar in the Black Lion forum.https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Suggestion-Black-Lion-Armor-Merchant/first#post3603637

My idea was having a Black Lion Armor merchant. Once you bought skins from the gemstore, you would unlock them and could purchase them from the Black Lion Armor merchant for a price. (similar to the Hall of Monuments rewards vendor. Except you would pay a certain fee for the armor instead of it being free.) Once purchased, you can then apply them to armor just like you can when you buy them from the Gemstore now.

Yeah, mounts would be cool if they were strictly a cosmetic item. Maybe a Move Speed buff, but no flying.

I don’t think ANet is looking to implement Mounts, though, so I wouldn’t hold my breath. Still. I think you are right about the HUGE PILE OF MONEYS that ANet would get in gem sales if they implemented your ideas, so… maybe?

I know it has to be on their minds. They’ve probably gone as far as to design some. I don’t think they’ve ever ruled them out completely. They have said that no mounts would be in the game “at launch”. One can hope.

I think if you just gave them a 33% buff, just like swiftness, and don’t give any other PvE advantage, then they’d be perfectly fine. The minute you engage in combat, you are dismounted and you return to combat speed.

I wouldn’t mind seeing “Heirloom” gear (from WoW) come to GW2. Each armor piece gives +10% experience gain.

Then we need selectable primary and secondary superstats so that the heirloom gear gives us something like +100 to primary and +50 to secondary superstats .. like in Champions Online.

And the gear levels with you… left that bit out.

I would be willing to pay 1200 gems for an armor set skin like the Phoenix Armor skin if it were able to be gotten multiple times. This 400 gem premium would function similarly to the increased price that came from account bound infinite mining tools.

Shoot, they should also make each armor piece separate and can charge a premium for that too.

800 gem for the complete set (6 pieces). That’s an average of 133 gems per armor piece.

Separately they can charge 200-250 gems per armor piece. Sometimes the best armor combinations are bits and pieces from different sets.

Yeah this was another of my reasons for wanting a feature like this. Keeping up with one set is pain enough, but keeping up with several different pieces….

I like this compromise though. Although I’d still rather have my idea in place. One can only hope.

Only problem is this would hurt returning sales for Anet since some people will purchase multiple sets.

A compromise would be to have this BL Armor Merchant closed by default for all players. Anet can then add a gemstore item that will put a skin in this locker. Let’s call it “Armor Replicator” and sell it for 500 gems. It’s a one-time consumable that when applied to an armor, will remove it from your inventory and put it in your skin locker.

You have a point there. Mostly likely a feature like this will never be added since they rely heavily on Gemstore purchases.

I’m not exactly clear on your suggestion. You’re saying that each player could have a skin locker to use for transmutation?

We pay good money to get these exclusive Gemstore armor skins. Why not add a little convenience to the way we obtain and use them? What I’m suggesting is a system similar to the Hall of Monuments rewards. Once you purchase an Armor Skin in the Gemstore, it unlocks it for your account. You can then visit a Black Lion Armor Merchant and purchase the armor pieces you’ve unlocked for a minimal fee. Then these skins will work the same way that Hall of Monument skins work. You double click to transmute to any existing armor you have.

It can be a real pain to have to keep up with several different pieces of armor just for the skin. Then there’s the off-chance that you might accidentally sell or salvage one. I understand this would probably end up hurting your Transmutation Crystal sales, but since we are already paying 800-1000 gems for these armor skins, why not give us a bit of convenience on top of it? This would also save room in the bank that all these different skins take up.

I’d even be willing to pay MORE for the Armor Skins if this type of feature was added to the game.

Guild Wars 2 was not designed with mounts in mind. Any sort of mount with diminish the impact of the world severely.

There is an infographic that is biased but very valid.

Not every game needs every feature from other games in the genre. That’s why we have other games in the genre.

This is why flying mounts will never be in the game. This doesn’t rule out ground mounts though. I doubt they’ll ever implement them, but it would be awesome if they did.

I posted a thread about this about a week ago and it was promptly deleted for the flaming. I like the idea of ground mounts in this game…mounts are just fun to me. I don’t think “GW2 should have them because other MMOs do”. I think GW2 should have them because they’re fun to have and to collect. It gives more content to strive for in the end-game.

-Give mounts for attaining certain titles
-Make them rare drops in dungeons (example:A Ghostly mount from AC and a Flaming mount from CoF)
-Have special mounts for holidays that are sold in the Gem Store or attained during holiday events
-Have a Mount Arena where you can compete in mount-specific games and even PvP (this was in my other thread and I really like the idea)

This list could go on and on. People talk about them being an eye sore…if that’s the case then don’t let people use them in cities. I for one, have always preferred traveling somewhere in a map on a mount as opposed to fast travel, but that’s just me. Everyone wants perma-swiftness in this game…why not let them have it, and then they can focus their skills elsewhere?

I don’t think flying mounts would work in this game though…mostly because it’s not a seamless world. And I also like the OP’s suggestion of customization and dyeing mount armor.

I like the idea of account-wide dyes, and to add to your “hairstyle” ideas… I think a cool addition to the Gem Shop would be to add an account bound “Hairstylist” that can be conjured (with unlimited uses) and this stylist would have all hairstyles, plus the new ones added in the makeover kit (plus colors). They could sell this for say…800-1000 gems and each use costs a certain amount to use. Maybe 1 gold per use. For an indecisive person like myself, I’m constantly wanting to change my character’s appearance…I would DEFINITELY buy something like this.

Considering that the Permanent Hair Stylist Contract (unlimited uses) has its highest bid at 2500 Gold on the Trading Post, 800-1000 gems for an item like that is quite unrealistic.

I didn’t know there was a Permanent one…I guess that would throw a kink in my idea. I guess if they added it, then they’d have to make it’s price close to 3000-4000 gems. :o

I mentioned this in another thread and I’d might as well do it here.

I, like many other players I know, am very indecisive when it comes to the aesthetic of my character. I change the dye colors almost every day…I transmute armor every week. I WOULD change my hairstyle quite often if it were more accessible. I know you can buy self-style hairkits and total makeover kits, but what I’m proposing is the addition of an account-wide Hairstylist.

You would pay around 800-1000 gems for this service and what you would get from it is a Hairstylist that can be summoned (unlimited uses) and you would be able to change your hairstyle and hair color for a modest fee with each use. I would say anywhere from 50 silver-1 gold per change. This service would also include exclusive hairstyles and colors. Later on, Anet could release hairstyle/color packs that you could purchase to add to this service.

Another thing I thought of, is once you use this Hairstylist in a city, other players could use it once it pops up. Their styling price would be much more steep though. Say 5-10 gold. But the kicker here would also be, that the player who owns the Hairstylist would get a certain % of the profits from each other player’s use. Of course, I have no idea how that would affect the economy…but that would be pretty sweet. And if they actually did something like that, then they would probably need to make the Gem Store price of the Hairstylist much more. Around 1600 gems or so.

I know I would DEFINITELY purchase something like this from the Gem Store, because I am constantly wanting to change my character’s appearance.

Having said that, I would wait to subscribe until I was convinced that Anet would be able to do that. I wouldn’t subscribe to the game in it’s current state.

I’m not particularly experienced with dungeons and I haven’t fallen in with a guild that I’ve bonded with yet, so most of my experience is with solo PVE content. Back when I had friends that played, we did Ascalon Catacombs and it was pretty tough. Caudecus Manor (sp?) was pretty kitten tough too. One of the biggest issues I was having was understanding what it was exactly, that was hurting me. In Caudecus Manor for instance, there was one boss who was constantly killing me…I’m assuming it was from retaliation or something of the sort. I would go in, melee a few times, start dying from something, then dodge a couple of times, then run to the back of the room in a panic….then die.

I guess the best advice I could give is to keep searching for a helpful guild that you can join TS/Vent with and they can walk you through dungeons and tell you how each encounter works.

Technically, we rent all computer games. Every EULA for a digital game is a lease agreement.

One of the reasons I like sub models is because that business model accurately reflects the agreement.

Any business plan can be tuned to favor profit-taking or fun, shareholders or players. Sub models can be tuned towards high profit with time gating. B2P models can be tuned towards high profit by obfuscating the direction of content development.

On topic, I would not pay a subscription for the current version of GW2.

I wouldn’t either, unless we all knew that awesome expansions were on the way. Anet is too vague, and most of the time their idea of “epic” massively differs from mine.

Capes are for superheroes.

Cloaks are a cape/hood combo. Capes are the shoulder down versions. What they had in GW1 were capes….and short capes which didn’t look very good imo.

orly?

“Cloaks generally fasten at the neck or over the shoulder, vary in length, from hip all the way down to the ankle, mid-calf being the normal length. They may have an attached hood, and may cover and fasten down the front, in which case they have holes or slits for the hands to pass through. However, cloaks are almost always sleeveless.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloak

I should’ve said “Cloaks usually refer to the cape/hood combo.” My fault. I would agree with you though. I like the word “cloak” better than “cape”.

disagree greatly, the time you played can just as much be 30% AFK.
also, someone that doesn’t have 5+ hours to play a game should never ever have something out of reach, time played doesn’t earn anyone a reward and never should.

This.

If they implemented something like the OP wants, then you’d have a ridiculous amount of AFKers standing around. Making sure they come back to move their character every 30 minutes or so. If anything, there could be a title involved, but no other rewards should be given just for time played.

A friend of mine logged in for the first time in about half a year,

It is ridiculous to ask the devs to tell you what happens in half of year if you dont log in.
In real life, aka living world, If you leave your country for a while and you don’t even read the news how do you think the government will tell you what has happened while you were away? maybe three were strikes, maybe a new elections, maybe the government is totally changed… you just come and see what there is and hope others will tell you what happened but you will not be able to see all the news bulletins and other things live

So, if you want to know what happens in the game you should do a little effort and read about it not waiting for it to be handed to you on a plate
It is the living world concept and it will not go away, hopefully

The “real life” argument is getting old. This isn’t a life simulator. It’s a fantasy MMO. He doesn’t necessarily want to just read about what happened…he wants to play it. And if this were a true “living” world, then events wouldn’t happen every two hours. They’d be one and done. I’m with the OP, I just don’t care for the whole LW model. It sounds cool, and I know people who play this game exclusively love it, but it’s just not my cup of tea. I like to go back and play through old content at my leisure. That’s just not possible with this stuff.

What Would Mounts do for this Game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Nat.4029

Speaking from personal experience in other games where mounts were the norm, I can say that mostly, they clutter up the screen and drop your FPS even lower than a busy day in LA. They also give you a way to skip content (Flying mounts in PWI…click a destination and go make coffee while your beast moves you.)

The only mount I would say might add some variety or advantages would be if it were in an instanced race situation, and you would “earn” your mounts with wins. Even then, it would be video overload and lag would run rampant. Not everyone has a machine like mine that can handle a lot of particle effects or moving players.

Yeah that’s why I posed another question, asking if people would like a mount specific zone where these mini games would take place. They could leave mounts out of the main game.

What Would Mounts do for this Game?

Absolutely not.

A.) We have swiftness. Not only that, but we have incredibly readily accessible swiftness.
B.) Going along with swiftness, we have maps that are “small”, meaning we can get from point A to point B without waypoints in less than 5 minutes. A second if you use a waypoint. Mounts are necessary for games like WoW where there are no waypoints, so you HAVE to walk.
C.) Towns being cluttered with MORE things just sounds terrible, both aesthetically as well as technologically.
D.) We have tonics already that can do anything you want via minigames already. Think of beetleracing in GW1. Why would we ever need to actually ride an animal to race? It is conceptually a waste of time.

I do not see the point of it.

Because transforming into a hoverboard with no rider would be ridiculous? Not every mount has to be an animal.

There is no NEED for a hoverboard. The witch’s broom fit, conceptually, with the theme of Halloween. We didn’t get sleighs during Wintersday.

It is honestly a waste of time and resources

Ah yes because necessity is all there is. The game doesn’t NEED new zones, and we don’t NEED new weapon and armor skins. We don’t really NEED this game, period. Who NEEDS more fun anyway, right?

Its too bad not everyone know how to dye it before generating a preview, the ones you see on google look horrible.

This looks nice. But that heavy helm looks awful. I guess that’s why you aren’t showing it.
