I’ve salvaged over 900 rares in the last 48 hours.
No, you haven’t.
It won’t have mounts because it’s not true open world. It has loading screens every 3 minutes.
1000 hours in 4 months is 8.333 hours a day, 7 days a week.
1200 hours in 4 months is of course 10 hours a day, 7 days a week.
1600 hours in 4 months is 13.333 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Wow… glad I don’t live that kind of life.
Pretty certain the rate has been nerfed. I just sell my rares on the TP now.
Get your guesses rolling, because…..
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/10199-arenanet-next-profession-reveal-confirmation/
I`m placing bets on those polar bear things.
P.S. Shame we have to rely on FB, Twitter, good forums like Guru, rather then the actual GW2 forums, but ah well….
Great for speculators that live in 2010 still, I guess.
Without role players Nayru you would not be playing this game or countless others. It’s role playing that created the demand for this genre of game. So get over it.
Thanks for the laughs.
Guild Wars is a video game. Video games are for gaming. Role playing is not playing the game. If you want to role play so badly you can use external IM software. What do you have to complain about?
No weapon should be account bound, only soul bound.
Think of the poor Engineer who loots Dusk.
Sell/ use on other character. Problem? Nope.
Yes, yes they should. Coming from a person who is 1/2 way towards crafting their own Twilight, I agree.
Yeah, that’s plausible, why jump around LA looking for attention on one character when you can do it on every character! Right?
No weapon should be account bound, only soul bound.
Prophecies was terrible and people were questioning the future of the game then. Factions and Nightfall turned it into my single favorite multiplayer game of all time.
Guild Wars 2 is terrible and people are questioning it’s future. I assume the expansions/content updates will turn it into my new favorite multiplayer game of all time.
So what I’m trying to say here is yeah it’s kind of lame at present but that’s par for the course.
True. Before the launch of factions, GW1 pve was all but dead.
No… it really wasn’t. You clearly aren’t a “day 1 vet” like you suggested.
Over 1600 hours playing a video game in 4 months seems unhealthy.
Congrats I guess? If it’s an achievement to you.
Definitely doesn’t deserve to be called “Guild Wars” 2, nothing like GW1 in any aspect so just rename it already.
You can have the best specs in the world and still get bad performance. Terribad game engine.
Not sure which dummies you mean. The ones in the Mists are crittable. If there are some in game, then they sound like objects (like turrets or siege equipment) and can’t be crit, or have conditions applied to them.
Ever heard of a place called Lion’s Arch?
I don’t usually keep track. Definitely more than 2000g. Never drop below 1000g.
They Aren’t Called Classes In This Game They Are Called Professions. (I Thought That If I Type Like You It Might Help You Understand)
They highly overestimated how successful they thought this game would be. Imo they will have to cut some of the servers soon.
There is no endgame content in GW2. You go to boreland wvw or pvp. That or pointlessly grind dungeons.
Sanctum of Rall queued in all 3 BLs and a 2 hour wait for EB.
We’re doing good OP, thanks for asking!
Yeah… no. I left SoR weeks ago because it’s so inactive. (Like most worlds)
Put it this way if this game was p2p the servers would’ve been taken down months ago.
There is severe lack of content for an mmo.
You can gold buy legit on this game. It’s a f2p game.
Long post… but worth the read… I promise.
This OP’s title is misleading and simply isn’t true. You’ll need gold at some point… even if you do dung’s… you might not need to buy gold… but you’ll certainly need a decent amount of it.
The major cost that seems to have been forgotten… runes. Yes you can get some pretty rubbish ones from the dung’s themselves for free (if you’re lucky). Orbs are an option but are inferior to good rune sets. Lets be honest… to be optimally geared… sorry… but you’ll have to spend some gold… and they’ll probably run you a couple gold… each.
Also you’ll need some gold to get some exotic necks/earrings… don’t try to farm the mats yourself… it’ll take you quite a while to get all 5 of the same type of orb you’ll need… for just one of your jewelries. You can get Power/vit/tough jewelry from pvp, but that’ll take ages and those are the only stats you can get. Then you’ll still need to get something to put inside of the slot on them. It’s far easier and better to just get the gold and get exactly what you want.
You can get the ecto’s for the jewelry from salvaging 68+ rares (which you’ll need gold to buy unless you get lucky on your daily and get a free 25 stack of black lion kits… but that’s pretty kitten rare). Dung’s might provide enough rares to salvage, but if you’re not lucky…
Sigils… you can get some 5% damage ones from your story quest items (they are in some of the greens they give you near the end)… so you’ll need to buy some more nice kits to try to get them out. If you more than those… or you’re unlucky and you don’t get the sigils out with your kit… you’ll need to buy some.
You’ll also need some gold for your trait books.
Protips…
Use orders to buy everything. Don’t pay “retail”
Don’t sell things at a loss. Make sure you’re at least getting something decent over NPC cost (the TP will tell you the projected profit).
Do not fill orders unless it is very close to the “retail” price. Instead undercut the lowest seller by 1 copper.
Some level 80 crafted items (including exotic jewelry) cost for more than would cost you to get the mats and make yourself… other final products cost less than the mats it took to make them. Check gw2spidy to see which way is less expensive.
While leveling up buy blues that cost 1c over npc price. Update them regularly. Npc them after… and you’re out all of 1c/item. Greens aren’t superior for that many levels and cost much more. This will help you save karma for your karma gear later if you choose to do that as well. Note Iirc… Karma gear has limited in its selection of stats on the gear. There are certain stat combinations you just can’t get from Karma gear (such as knight’s gear stats).
Try to use karma to buy your gathering tools. Specific heart NPC’s sell them for karma. This is one of the few ways left of turning karma->gold without a massive karma loss and not much gold gain.
If you’re trying to save $… don’t do crafting. You’ll lose a lot of potential gold just on making those inscriptions vs. just selling the raw mats until you’re pretty far into the profession. Even at 400 most things will still be a net loss or just break even.
Very good post. Agree with everything. You should make a thread it’d be better than this one!
So “play the way you want” has been totally dropped from this game and changed to “Farm dungeons 24/7 to get end game gear”?
Sounds very much like another MMO 99% of the population seems to have come from…
I agree if you want to enjoy content outside of the dungeon grind you must buy Gems to make Gold, sadly its pretty simple and not real fun..its not even a mmo reborn every Free to play MMO made works like this game..
Or you could learn how to use the TP to make gold for you… buy things with low cost orders vs. the “retail” price-> ? -> profit. I’ll leave you to figure out the ? (there are many many ways).
Sounds fun. You do that.
My guild is very active with anywhere from 60-100 ppl on at any given time. You can look at the guild history tab to see how many people are logging on each day, we get ~250 people a day logging in.
360 members in the guild
You mean you get 25 people logging in a day, when holiday events are around.
If you reported the scammer, you should be getting your stuff back shortly and the scammer will be banned. At least that’s what I’ve heard happens in most cases. A few things to remember tho:
1) secure person to person trading will never be implemented into the game. This is to avoid having map chats completely filled with trade chat.
2) make sure your mail is empty when you trade person to person. I have almost been accused of scamming before until the person realized their mailbox was full xD
The “scammer” might get banned but the guy that got owned will definitely not get his money back.
The best way to make gold is to buy gems -> convert to gold. p2w
That’s not relevant to the topic at hand.
Yeah it is.
It would be nice if that happened. I’m on Tarnished Coast which seems to be the RP meca.
I can’t imagine how empty these places would feel if i didn’t see RPers sitting around talking in emotes all day. It would be sad to me too.
I would change world if people were role playing.

Whats a job? Just sounds silly to refer to anything in an MMO as a job.
I think you mean Profession, or traditionally “class”.
It would sound silly to you, the average GW2 white knight with no experience of any other game.
In most online games, there is variation. A monks job is to heal. A mage’s job is to dps. A warriors job is to tank, there is also support, running etc.
In GW2 your job is to auto attack. And they can’t even manage to balance that.
Woah, this thread got quite big, anyway i got my answer that i need, and i’ll just follow the path “This game isnt dying” , and as someone else said, “Its improving”, Thanks really much for the help, also quick help guys!
So, you see people on the forum saying this game is dead.
But you want some sort of false hope to disprove that.
So you want people on the forum to tell you its not dead.
And now you are content.
Smart.
Lol why mention HKO?
Like that gives you any kind of credibility. Just wondering tbh.
The fact that HKO is balanced and GW2 isn’t. Shows GW2’s credibility.
For a game to be dying it has to be alive and successful in the first place.
Overhyped game, commercially failed, most players quit.
The game isn’t dying, it failed.
And thank you for making what I consider to be the best video game ever!
Yeah GW2 was a lot of peoples first video game ever. That’s who it was advertized to, hence only 2m sales.
not really.
a) it made 6 million sales, not 2 million
b) there are some hardcore gamers here and people of all age groups if you haven’t noticed.
a) It didn’t make 6m sales. It made 2m sales.
b) I didn’t notice. How many are there, just you and your 3 guildies?
Edit: Oops I forgot Guilds are inactive, nvm.

GW1 is 1000x better than GW2 will ever be. In every aspect. Fact.
GW2 the best MMO ever made?
I’m guessing this is the only game you’ve ever played?
White Knights saying “it’s b2p not f2p!!!” – the whole point in making an MMO is to make money in the long run.
They need continuous income to support costs of servers, staff and other various things.
If you weren’t such super ultra die hard blind fans you’d know those basic facts.
And that’s why the OP asks what pays the bills.
They are trying to keep that 2% of gamers happy that grind and do have hours to spend each day playing but your casual gamer is suffering. It’s not only new content but I see the same bias happening in normal dungeons. Try to get a group for story mode sometime ( You’re a level 80 and have not done this dungeon ? Sorry no noobs in my group ). It isn’t just this update it’s happening through out the entire game.
I still refuse to play in PUGS and if that means I can’t play certain areas so be it and if it gets to the point I’m missing out on too much I’ll simply stop playing. What they need to do is modify dungeons so smaller groups can get them done or at least allow a group of only 2 -3 players to do them. Sadly the type of player that’s rising to the attention of Anet and unfortunately the loudest on these forums isn’t the type of person I want to spend my gaming time with.
Story Mode should be something a single player can do and not a group of people. If they want to cater to P vs P and Hard Core gamers great just stop killing the casual gamer in the process as well. I have no intention of doing dungeons save for the story and game lore that’s involved and if the massive group events is what I have to look forward to, there isn’t much to look forward to. I’m not the only one who feels this way either I would expect.
So you’re saying 98% of gamers are casual and 2% are hardcore? Ok.
Hey guys arrownin here. I am a YouTuber, and I love Guild Wars 2. So I’d like to make something that involves my favorite game mixed with my favorite hobby, cutting to the chase; how many people here would watch a weekly show that was 5 minutes long, discussing 1 topic every minute.
- minute one would be introduction presenting what topics would be covered, along with the best screenshot sent in from the previous week.
- minute two discussing the “build of the week” showing off cool build ideas for various classes.
- minute three would discuss the best forum posts of the week.
- minute four would discuss official news and the status of the game.
- minute five would be discussing the market and the status of items on the TP.
I’ll be posting this on the fan-generated content forums, and also the general discussion forums because I don’t really know what this falls under.
Post if you’d like a show like this! Any support helps, thanks!
If it’s your hobby then why are you relying on how many people will watch you? Seems like attention seeking.
I know right?! I refuse to pay a monthly sub…..wait
If GW2 was p2p it would have barely any players. p2p games require endgame content and the game to be very addictive.
OP is clearly lying, if he has been playing since open Beta there is no way anyone, even the most brain dead of individuals would describe this game as being as shallow as OP has. This account isn’t more than a week old, tops.
Actually White Knight, I agree with the OP and I played since the first beta. As do many others agree. Fact.

Cool story…..
Guild Wars 2 is an MMO stop trying to Compare the two together.
What? GW1 and GW2 are the same game franchise.
That’s like saying “stop trying to compare MGS2 with MGS3 – they are different games!!!!”
Guild Wars was a single player rpg with co-op options.
So is GW2?
White Knights never cease to make me facepalm….
(edited by Nayru.4537)
I’d go back to GW1 but I mastered it already and it’s not getting updated any more. So I’m back to N64/PS1/PS2/GB/GC like before I started GW1. A bit of 360 and PS3 on the side. Just Halo and GTA on those, though. GW2 failing was no biggie to me.
(edited by Nayru.4537)
Why not play WoW i think it fits you more.
Getting really tired of this response.
The majority of the community are white knights, it’s to be expected.
A more suited title would be “GW2 is very boring”
