Yeah it only sold 2m copies, I would guess that there is less than 400k active players. More like 200k-300k. And let’s be real the population in this game doesn’t increase.

Had this game for a week and this is the first mmorpg that doesn’t feel like a complete grind. Experience for exploring new places? Brilliant. XP scaling with levels is cool too. You can basically do whatever you want in PvE without feeling like you are wasting time and missing out on experience. I love the events and haven’t even tried dungeons yet (i’m a level 23 thief). sPvp is fun as hell too., although another map or too would be sweet I haven’t even played WvW yet, but many people seem to like that better. Anyway, I just wanted to say how thrilled I am with GW2

How can you judge an MMO and it’s grind based on 1 week of play and a level 23 character? :/

Its all about exploration. Please implement RANDOM DE’s that spawn spontaneously and reward you with unique components for crafted gear.

Things like dragon events that happen in random places that occur after someone does a jumping puzzle at the right time of day and activates an item that has a 5-10 minute spawn window.

Start implementing things like this all over the map. This is the only thing that will save this game at this point…not fractals

People don’t do them because they get boring and are unrewarding, plus most areas are dead – so nobody to do the events with.

Its not like you bought it knowing it has a trinity system, and then they changed it. This game never had a trinity system as far as I know.

Do you know what is the cost of redesigning the classes to become a trinity system (assuming you are right that trinity is better)? Might as well make a new game.

That being said, I still don’t understand why would you force yourself on GW2 if you liked the trinity system and you know that this game doesn’t have it.

I didn’t force myself onto anything. I knew this game wouldn’t have the trinity and I was naive enough to think Arenanet would be capable of making it work. Clearly my hope was misplaced.

As for the cost of redesign? That’s not my problem. Arenanet is the one that needs to add some structure to their PVE or face the consequences of a declining playerbase.

As someone who has never played a ‘mmo’ before I don’t see how the ‘mmo’ element makes this game any different. I’ll simply play the existing content and if entertained or interested enough I may roll another toon and play through again (or a few more times).

from my point of view the holy trinity still exists to a small degree. yes, there is no cut and paste class for tanking, healing and dps (unless you count glass cannons) but its not impossible to make a tank like build or a build that is got healing in mind in this game. what it sounds like you want is to be allowed to focus on a small task rather then having to fend for yourself or work much closer as a group. because nothing says action pack like click target press 1,2,3,4 click new target press 1,2,3.4

True what you guys say about the flying mounts. It does make sense that it would make the world appear smaller. Not to mention the devs took a lot of time to add the littlest details so yeah flying would take away from that.

But Nayru what loading screens do you mean? I haven’t seen any except when you use a teleporter.

Who said there should be flying mounts? Ground mounts would make a nice edition to GW. Something to spend a little spare gold on. Perfect for explorers/world completion.

And @ Naryu, if you’re seeing loading screens every 3 mins, you’re doing something wrong.

If you can’t run from 1 side of the map to the other in 3 minutes, you’re doing something wrong.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Gandara is doing fine. Even the 1-15 zones are full of people, tried Caledon Forest recently? Queensdale? Maybe Wayfarer Foothills? All of them full. Also, higher level zones are as busy as ever, from zones like Dredgehaunt Cliffs, Iron Marches and Mount Maelstrom to the “regular” ones like Frostgorge and Cursed Shore there are always people around doing events, I find it very nice that I can around and do events with lots of people instead of soloing them, as lots of people think it happens in the game. Try playing the game for a while, then come and post again

Both The Shadow of the Mad King patch and the Lost Shores patch brought new permanent content to the game outside of holiday activities.

The January and February patch together will be an expac worth of content. Free I might add.

As for myself? Removing the trinity is the best thing to ever happen to GW2, and I love its PvE primarily because we don’t have to worry about picking a “healer” for every party, we can just roll with whatever classes we want.

Also, no Trinity is one of the reasons why I bought the game.

Because it hasn’t gone past 2m sales. Also, no trinity is why millions of people didn’t buy this game.

The holy trinity was a lazy approach to encounter design. It used to be good back in the day when DPS were forced to watch their threat or die, and the raid/party wiped when the healers went out-of-mana.

Blizzard warped it later on though, they gave tanks infinite threat (where they could only lose aggro during the first 10 seconds) and the lazy inclusion of enrage timers meant they didn’t need to balance mana/mana regen anymore.

If a game allowed each character to play as every profession/class, and didn’t require gear/stats to play in each role, then you could make a game with more than 3 roles, knowing that any player could fill any role at any time. I could accept that, but the inflexible and lazy system Blizzard used needs to be eliminated from MMOs.

ArenaNet are on the right track, but again, their system has its own flaws they will need to address.

So what’s your point? Blizzard were lazy when making WoW and it’s still 25x more succesful than GW2? Blizzard are lazy with the most succesful MMO in history but GW2 isn’t lazy with a game that feels like an inactive beta 4 months into release?

dungeon ranks:
1. Guardian, after talking to guardians and watching them in action and so on they are very clearly at the time without question.
2. Mesmers, the utility, and distractions via clones make them very hard to beat <my personal favorite by far
3. Warrior, damage… (can be moved up to #1-2 for certain dungeons, Eg. AC)
4. Theif, party support/stealth combined with damage is extremely good
5. Necro, aoe, minions, conditions (which benefits other classes that sort of have some conditions, but ignore them in favor of another stat) and survivability
6,7,8. engi/ele/ranger just don’t notice much effect from them

General pve:
1. warrior everything basically gets 1 shotted
2. theif, less survivability, more damage than guardian
3. necro, good survivability lacks damage of theif
4. guardian op as kitten, but doesn’t kill as fast as others
5. ele, great potential damage, often wasted though
6. ranger all rounder pet makes it nice, not as much kill tagging capability as ele
7. engi, actually tied with range due to aoe , i’ve not much experience with them..
8. mes. low damage, next to zero kill tagging

pvp.
1. Mes, only by a narrow margin.
2. Necro, can often kill mesmers, MM’s are scary, wells are deadly as hell when used in the right hands
3. Theif, VERY VERY close second/third great utility and party-support, stealth makes them hard to kill, they can apply pressure and often assassinate key targets with relative ease
4. Eles, they make great bunkers and great roamers lots of damage, lots of survivability, and utility to spare, easy to target however, unlike theives (due to stealth), mesmers (due to clones) and necro’s (due to minions or their natural positioning within groups)
5. guardian, meditation is the only way to go from my perspective, those who try for bunkers tend to be absolutely terrible at everything and fail hard, meditation provides great mobility and just keeps you in ur opponents face all of the time
6. Warrior, excellent burst damage, if you can catch someone, they will die.. keyword being… if
7. Rangers, recently with alot of sword-based builds they’ve started to show up in tournaments and play excellently, i was tempted to say 8
8. engi’s generally unwieldy, they’re not discounted they’ll still destroy alot of the other classes in several area’s, they’re just seemingly weaker than one would expect

wvw:
1. ele dat aoe finally gets used to it’s fullest potential
2-3-4. theif/necro/ranger all have great range and aoe, theif you will almost always see near your spawn point where they will be picking off lone players, necro’s and rangers just finally get to use their range/survivability and aoe to their fullest potential
5-6-7-8 engi/mes/war/guardian, guardian’s i’ve heard are amazing, but i just don’t see it, warriors have excellent single target damage i myself frequently pick off lone players with the rifle (12k+ kill shots anyone?), engi’s similar to guardians, heard they’re good, i’ve not witnessed it, mes’s were absolutely amazing until the phantasm line of sight nerf… they suddenly became next to useless in my opinion, i’ve heard they’re still amazing particularly reflection-based, but again.. not witnessed.

I’m sorry but these are horribly wrong and probably biased views. If you want an insight on the professions you should experiment for yourself.
