I understand that you’re not willing to transfer servers but I thought I’d bring our guild to your attention anyway since we are a mature guild for adults who already have a good compliment of husband and wife members.

We’re mostly working class folk as well and real-life always takes precedence in our guild—-no questions asked.

We’re not a guild which is specific to any timezone as we have members across the continent and Europe as well.

We’re on JQ as well and are a PvX guild which is comprised of members who farm, run, dungeons and regularly jump into WvW (usually in small havok groups). We don’t have regularly scheduled runs of any type but it wouldn’t be hard to get a group together for something you’d like to run.

The name of our guild is Just Us Grown Ups or [JUGs] and, if you’re older than 25, we could be just the guild you’re looking for.

We are a very friendly, very casual adult guild who value community above anything else. Everyone in the guild has a great relationship with each other and people are always helping each other out—provided they have the free time..

We are a small—but growing (over 75 members)—guild catering to the 30+ crowd. We are very laid back and just want to game, hang out and avoid drama.Because we place such a high value on community, we will no longer be actively recruiting once we reach 100 members.

Our guild does have an age requirement in place to keep the environment mature; almost all of our members are men and women between the ages of 30-65. We do allow people 25-30 to join but they must fill out an application via our website.

We are primarily a PvE guild but some of us also jump into the WvW realms every now and then.

Our guild is happy to take in members, regardless of experience level. If you want to learn, we’ll answer your questions; if you have knowledge to pass on, we’ll listen.

There’s a bunch of ways to look at this topic.

On one hand, having a person who’s in the guild but never represents is basically the same as not having them as a member at all.

On the other hand forcing a member to be solely dedicated to your guild every second they’re logged in is, at least in my opinion, a bit desperate, and counterproductive in regards to creating a ‘closeness.’

I only request my members to represent our guild if they’re currently playing with other members and I haven’t really had any problems with no one representing.

Sometimes people have a reason not to rep and I like to make allowances for it (e.g. their kid might be playing on their account and they don’t rep because they might be too young to see the guild chat).

Your membership either has chemistry with one another or it doesn’t, and no amount of forced cohesion is going to remedy that. Being too restrictive can easily result in people looking for the door.

This game’s inclusion of multi-guild membership is a nice touch because it allows the formation of specialty and/or novelty guilds, which adds more dimension to the game.

At the end of the day, however, the truth of the matter is: your guild, your rules.

Just make sure you’re up front about it when recruiting so people know what they’re in for. Likewise, if you plan on multi-repping, make sure the guild(s) you join are on board with it.

I live in Chicago and the lag is coming close to being a deal-breaker for me—and I run a 70 man guild!

In any group event, I’m worthless because I am consistently receiving 2-4 second lag outs. They usually result in me standing, having everything freeze, and I rubber band into being downed or defeated.

At first sign of the lag I had to have my ISP come out and look for problems on my end. Nothing was found wrong with either my signal or cable modem.

I ran Guild Wars 2 in diagnostic mode and it looks—to me at least— like the bottleneck is on ArenaNet’s side and not my ISP’s (I’m not over technically minded so I could be wrong):

Guild Halls: I remember reading somewhere that ArenaNet plans on implementing guild halls but it’s on a back, back, back burner.

GvG: With a name like Guild Wars, why would they want to do something like that??

Dungeons I agree. More are needed. I wouldn’t worry though, more will almost definitely come.

Town Based Missions These, in a way, have already been implemented via personal story instances (many take place in ones home city). While I am always a proponent of more content, I’m not sure how well these would go; overflow is bad enough already.

Heads up on developer’s projects Check out http://www.guildwars2guru.com/. They often conduct interviews with developers and it’s a good way to ‘sniff the air’ at what’s planned for GW2.

The way I see it ANet wants guilds to be places to have fun. But unfortunately there are people who want to run guilds as corporations. “You’re not contributing enough so get out” and such. (Or the way you said it “members need to have consequences for not being active” which is quite hostile way of putting it.) Adding timecards is really just a corporation thing. It would work if people didn’t try to hoard as many members as possible, in which case it wouldn’t even be needed.

Guild stops being fun if you need to worry about logging in every 3 days (or getting the boot)

This feature’s isn’t just useful for hostile reasons. If somebody hasn’t logged on in quite a while, it could be an indicator that something is wrong. Example: as an officer or leader you see that a member hasn’t logged in for a month. You can ask in guild chat if anybody’s heard from them or know where they are. Another member might be able to answer—perhaps they’re a friend in real life—and say that they are on vacation with family or something.

Whether you believe that guilds should be run with more or less structure or severity is relative. It’s an option for those running the guild to exercise; your option is to choose to be a part of that guild or not.

I’m sure that I’m not the first person to bring these up, but there are a few minor changes that could be made to the guild panel that would be very helpful to those of us who run a guild.

Here are some simple fixes which would make our—well, mine at least—lives much easier:

• Split up the ‘Admin. lower ranks’ options so that inviting and kicking are separate permissions. In my estimation, there is a big difference in severity between the able to invite someone and kick someone. To lump both options into one permission requires too much trust for my peace of mind.

• Enable the ability to see when a member last logged into the game. This would allow the more hardcore guilds to see how much their membership is contributing. It also allows the more casual guilds—like mine—to see who hasn’t been on very much and see if everything’s well with that person. Perhaps this would be a less-invasive feature if we could only see when they logged in as a person representing our guild.

• Implement a way to see how much influence each member is generating. While this would allow a more serious guild to see who its top performers are, it would also allow members to see their standing so they can gauge what activities help more than others.

• Fix the ‘Message of the Day’ panel so that if you want to edit your message of the day, you don’t have to re-type the whole thing. If the input window retained the current MOTD then it would be much easier to edit and update it.

Stealth is one of the main mechanics in thief gameplay. It’s not as if its wow rogue territory of perma stealth. What next ban mesmer clones cause it let’s mesmers run away?

I’ve played a few MMO’s where the stealth class frustrates players who want a straight up fight, who then complain about the class. Enough squeaky wheels get grease and the class is nerfed…and then nerfed again. Cooldowns get lengthened, burst damage gets weakened, etc.

Finally, the class is broken and then those players find a new class to complain about.

A good example of this was the Witch Elf in Warhammer.

I’m not discounting the fact that many classes, in their own way, are over-powered at the start of a game, and I appreciate that balancing classes is never a walk in the park.
But unless there are solid statistics to back up claims of being over-powered then those claims must be taken with a grain of salt.

My point is that, just because a person has difficulty fighting a particular class, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s over-powered.

That’s my metaphor-laden opinion.

To my knowledge, transferring to a NA server shouldn’t be problematic but you would be unable to guest on one.

For what it’s worth, we have members from Sweden, Korea and Europe and, apart from a difference in bedtimes, no lag issues are apparent.
