The activity level of our guildmembers never fails to impress me. We look for people who are going to be active when we accept applications and while it’s easy to say whatever it takes to get approved, the folks we’ve brought into this guild really deliver.

It’s not uncommon to see 30+ folks online and repping during a weekday! Our Event Calendar is full from members posting and hosting their own events and the experienced players are always willing to help out those new to the game.

On the weekends we have been running raids. While our guild is fairly new to them, we have members who are fairly accomplished raid runners and they are doing a great job of bringing up the newbies up to speed. The runs have been free of attitude; no finger pointing and negativity. Even with content that is conducive to frustration, everyone has been really laid back and has a good time.

The respect and goodwill that the members of this guild have for each other and show to those who join is really commendable.

I’ve been in guilds which were just basically a large collection of strangers and everyone really just kept to themselves or huddled up in cliques; if you needed help with something…well good luck in finding it. The folks at JUGs, on the other hand, really perpetuate a sense of community to all who wear the tag.

It’s amazing what you can get if you only have your door open to mature and friendly players. There’s no ranting, griping or folks with chips on their shoulders. The truth be told, we’re just to old for that kind of nonsense.

To a new player or someone returning to the game, the sheer amount of content can be overwhelming. I’m really proud of the members of this guild in how they reach out to those who are new and do everything they can to keep those folks from being ’lost at sea."

I’ve found that, when running with those who are novices to the game, it’s a chance to really “re-appreciate” the details and mechanics of the game which, over time, I may have taken for granted. Another benefit of having novice players in your guild is that you get to listen in on all of the advice given to them and occasionally learn something that you didn’t know—but of course pretending that you already did!

I’m happy that our guild welcomes all, regardless of their skill. I’d have missed out on a lot of fun otherwise.

Our guild, Just Us Grownups [JUGs], is in many ways similar to other adult guilds out there: We’re a casual NA PvE guild for men and women, age 30 and older, who just want to get together and play the game in a drama-free environment. What really sets us apart is how we’ve chosen to run the guild…for one thing, we don’t have officers.

Yep, we did away with them. In [JUGs] it’s the members themselves that run the guild. They’re the ones who have free access to the guild’s resources: they have open access to the guild bank; they can kick off guild missions whenever they want; they can post events on the calendar and it’s their collective vote that makes the decisions for the guild. There are two guild leaders who help facilitate this process but it’s the membership that is the guild’s voice.

When you think about it, we’re all adults here. We know how to “play nice with others” and that you don’t need officers to tell you how to play a video game together. We all just want to take a break from real life and have fun with some friends; you don’t need a guild with a bureaucratic hierarchy to accomplish that. All you really need is the right guild with the right people.

Here’s the basic rundown of what we have to offer:

• A small tight-knit guild comprising an even balance of both men and women
• A fully upgraded guild hall (Gilded Hollow)
• A feature and resource-rich web site with an event calendar which anyone can use
• A Teamspeak3 server
• A leadership which is always available to listen (anonymously if desired) and to help

Here’s what we want you to bring to the guild:

• A good-natured, positive and respectful personality.
• Regular social interaction (e.g. Teamspeak, guild chat, etc.) with other members of the guild
• Active participation in events whether by joining them and/or leading them

I don’t know why this thread keeps getting bumped. Hotsync joined our guild [JUGs] yesterday.

Not sure if you’re in our age demographic (most of our guild are 30 or older) but we have a very laid-back guild which is free of drama.. We’re small to medium sized, very friendly and so casual that we forgot how to spell ‘elitist.’

Here’s the rub: We’re really not into WvW that much. Some of us are but our membership is on many different servers so putting any real direction toward WvW would be expensive if not highly problematic for many of our members (we’re on Jade Quarry).

As far as PvP goes. We are looking to start a PvP team but we’re just starting to organize it now—we do, however have our own 24-7 PvP arena. Long story short, we’ll probably have a dedicated PvP team but we don’t have on right now.

The upside is that we don’t have any 100% rep requirements so if you were to also join a WvW guild on TC we wouldn’t have any problem. Rep them when you’re with them; rep us when you’re with us.

Hi Alkalissa,

This is Neksis, I’m also from [JUGs].

We have a fairly even balance of men to women in our guild and half of our officers happen to be women—wolfie included. We maintain an atmosphere of respect in our guild and creeps (e.g. folks who join to hit on the female members) are quickly shown the door.

Because of how many women we have in the guild, the running joke is that when guild halls are released, ours will end up being covered in throw pillows and cat pictures.

Provided that you’re not too much of a youngster, our guild would probably be a good fit for you.

In regards to WvW, we’re a PvE guild but since we aren’t 100% rep, we would be completely fine if you were to join a WvW guild on your server as well. We’re more of what you’d call a ‘comfy-couch’ guild.

Many of us prefer VOIP because sometimes it can be a pain to keep an eye on guild chat while you’re busy fighting mobs.

If you are tired of gaming with those persnickety youngsters with their ‘leetspeak’ and potty-humor and wish that they would just stay the heck off your lawn, you might want to look into joining Just Us Grownups ….our potty-humor is much, much better.

Just Us Grownups or ‘[JUGs]’is a guild which caters to older gamers (i.e. 30 years old and up) and is focussed on creating a fun gaming environment free of the frustrations that occur when there is an absence of one’s peers.

We have been around since the game’s launch and have formed quite a few long-lasting friendships. We foster a community of camaraderie, humor and respect. While we don’t place any restrictions on profanity, we do maintain an environment free of racism, misogyny or overt obscenity--almost half of our guild is women so things rarely get out of hand. Because it’s just plain good manners, the sharing of political or religious views is also heavily discouraged.

Here’s a brief rundown of our guild:

• North American server (Jade Quarry)
• primarily PvE (although we do have some WvW havok activity
• membership of 200+ members
• casual guild — but we do have a number of highly experienced members
• We enjoy Dungeons, Fractals and maintain a sPvP server for fun and dailies
• good balance of men to women (husband/wife teams always welcome)
• 100% Guild Representation desired with exceptions (see footnote 1.)
• guild missions run every weekend (we run some during the day in consideration of our European member’s bedtimes)
• personal Teamspeak3 server which resides on the Jadequarry.ts3 server (see footnote 2.)
• content-rich and high-utility website
• open to gamers of all experience levels (see footnote 3.)
• primarily active during North American evenings —gotta work to pay the bills !

1. While we prefer to be your only guild, we do make exceptions such as a personal guild (e.g. for a personal guild bank), if you belong to a niche or novelty guild or are in a WvW guild which requires representation during WvW activity. If you are participating in any guild activity or with other [JUGs] members, you must represent the guild.
2. The core of our guild prefers to use our Teamspeak channel to communicate with each other (chat messages are too easily overlooked in this game) but we understand if you have misgivings or are unable to use voice-chat in game. If you are running a small group activity (e.g. a dungeon run) we do expect you to at least be able to listen in on TS for the benefit of the person leading the run.
3. We have a number of highly experienced players who are happy to share their knowledge—with the caveat that you also share the knowledge learned. New to dungeons? We’ll show you the ropes but, out of respect for the mentors in our guild, please pay attention so that you can hold your own in future runs.

There is a vendor in the Asuran home instance but they can’t reach it; it’s too high.

I’m not sure if there is a preexisting thread regarding this issue; the ‘Search’ function for these forums has never worked and always returns ‘0 results.’ I did see one thread but it has been archived.

IMHO, if the Deep Cave is merely an extension of the Treasure Trove then it shouldn’t have its own area to deposit money—-or else it should have its own permission level.

The current way the two sections are arranged is confusing and it is because of this confusion that our guild bank was looted. We lost 67 gold and quite a bit of valuable materials and recipes.

Looking at the permissions, you can see that there is an assignable permission for the Treasure Trove but nothing is mentioned of the Deep Cave. Because each has its own money deposit/ withdrawal section, I along with other players believed that they were separate sections of the guild bank. and didn’t share the same access level. We believed that the Treasure Trove permissions were exclusive to the section of the bank which is named the ‘Treasure Trove.’

Again, this confusion could be avoided by either removing the money deposit/ withdrawal mechanic from either of the two sections or assigning the Deep Cave its own permission level. I personally believe that the latter option would be a better choice as it affords guilds more utility in managing their resources.

Or at the very least, a tool tip or note explaining that the assignable permission level is the same for both sections could be included and, hopefully, help others from having to learn the hard way.

Unfortunately our guild, Just Us Grownups [JUGs] isn’t on Piken Square.

You would, however, be more than welcome to Guest on our server for as long as you’d like and there would be no pressure for you to transfer if you don’t want to; the only real drawback to this is that you would be excluded from running with our guild in WvW events unless you were to transfer.

We don’t have many Aussies at the moment, so I’m not sure what our populations will be like when you’re on; we do have a few Europeans (Sweden) in our guild, however. Feel free to give us a try before making a final decision.

It doesn’t matter what the reward would have been. Even if it was 5 Precursors people would still have said it wasn’t enough.

I probably would have been happy with 5 precursors…..but that’s just me.

At least next year I’ll have the foresight to ignore pointless WvW achievement-specific grinding.

Instead I’ll focus on supporting my server by defending towers, protecting Dolyaks, refreshing siege, staying on pin and supporting the commander.

I’ll just have to learn to live my life without that ‘epic’ chest.

Our membership is nearing the 200 mark. There’s a good possibility that we might cap it at 200.

We’ve always emphasized quality over quantity and so far I’m more than impressed with the level of character our membership has. Nice and drama-free !!

I’m not sure whether or not you’ve found a guild already, but I thought I should mention ours as I think you would make a great fit.

Most of our members are parents and realize that free time to jump into a game isn’t always available. One of our biggest policies is that real life always comes first and no one is discriminated against because of how much time they can spend in game.
