It’s not quite the eye size or the cutesy face that makes her terrifying. I think it’s mainly the lack of depth in her eyes. She has this really shallow shocked/crazed expression at the moment. If her pupils were moved up closer to the top and stronger shadows and lights were added in, she would have a much more natural looking expression. In the screenshot provided, her eyes are missing the most alluring aspect of all cat eyes which is the beautiful glossy glass-like marbled look. They capture light and reflection like crazy. Of course, it could just be the image that makes them seem so dull. It’s hard to tell when you can’t see her in game for yourself.
I tried to edit is to show what I meant, but I fail miserably at photo manipulation…xD

I hope this means we will be seeing new hair, horns and faces. ;____;
I like cute and by cute, I mean baby animals and adorable pink stuffy quaggan backpacks with little bows all over cute. I am not ashamed. Yet I must say, I don’t actually find her very cute…o____________o She is actually quite scary. Although those horns are still awesome no less. Females could use bigger badder horns options.

Cantha has such great potential to be something absolutely amazing in Guild Wars 2! It would be such a shame to see it go away. I cannot fathom what it would be like to see the Jade Sea and Echovald Forest again. I really hope Anet finds a way to implement it into the game. ;;
I remade my Charr ranger into an Asura for armor reasons. Despite that, the Charr are still my absolute favorite race in this game. To make up for it, I created new Charr Warrior and Guardian characters as heavy armor looks ten folds better than many of the light and medium options. At least in my personal opinion. Concerning medium armor, it was not the overall shape that really bothered me. The problem was actually the clipping of the tail and stretching of the textures. I could easily deal with the stretching textures if more armors were made to accommodate Charr tails. Unfortunately that is not the case with a lot of medium armors.
I don’t think they will ever go back and fix the old armors because art is expensive and cost time better spent on more important things. Of course, that does not mean that future armors can’t be made better. ^^;;

9/10 to Kanarazu! That’s an awesome name with great meaning. ^^
My Sylvari’s name is Virgo. I stayed up till AM on launch day to get it. ^^ I don’t think it really fits in with the lore though, at least not from what I know…XD
I cannot get over the immense amount of cuteness, whoever designed the little guy is amazing. ;_;
Plush griffon ranger pet edition…, if only! ;_______________;
Bought the princess wand for my guardian too, along with the slingshot for my ranger. My only concerns are that you can hardly see the slingshot on Asuras. It almost looks as if I have no weapon equipped on the poor little guy. :P
Boy will that ever be confusing in WvW…
“He’s unarmed, GET HIM!”
Lol, it probably doesn’t help that my armor is closely coloured to the slingshot. :P It’s so teeny tiny. xD

It would have been nicer to tame pets when they are younger than juveniles and have them grow as you grow. (Like bears cubs, wolf pups) Including them into emotes and adding them into idle animations would have been great too. For example, when you cheer, your pet joins you in joy and barks/howls/etc. It’s a lot of work, but I think it would help with giving us emotional attachment towards our little animal friends. Right now, pets feel like objects that you just switch between, not like real companions that you truly share a bond with. When the pet dies you basically throw it away for a new one by swapping.
I absolutely hate using the switching mechanic. I feel like garbage every time I swap my dead pet for a new one. XD

So cute! :D Great job on this. c:
My asura being adorable in his Wintersday colours. : ) My Charr on the other hand, not quite as adorable, but at least he tries. xD
What is that helmet (on the Asura)? why/how is it glowing?
That is the Tier 3 cloth armor for Asura. It glows when dyed brighter colours. : )

I think Anet should take some of the resources spent on one time events and give it to the department that works on fixing class balance. 2 people stretched across 8 classes. I feel bad for Jon. It’s not hard to see why they are having so much trouble balancing things. They clearly don’t have enough man power to make changes in a decent time frame. It’d be better to fix these core gameplay mechanics which affect everyone before adding in things that most people won’t even get to experience.

@CENSOR - I didn’t say we were great, I just said I like my Ranger. I know very well how bad this class can be in PVP and in comparison to other classes.
Not just new players! Even in its current not-so-great shape, this is still my favorite class since the betas. : ) I have a 80 warrior and near 80 thief, but they don’t surpass the joy I have from playing my ranger. ^^ I still hope Anet fixes us one day though, it’d be great to love the ranger more. I do miss the days when we did a fair amount of damage. xD
My ranger is fully geared in exotics at 80. :D

Oh thank you so much for the answer! Sorry for the slow reply, I was at work. I got rid of Overwolf and the game runs fine now.^^ To be honest, didn’t know I had that program to begin with……XD
Thank you for the fast reply. : ) Is posting it like this alright? o:
I don’t have any trouble closing the error window or anything, just can’t run the game properly. It will take me to character selection regardless of the error, but will not go past the loading screen to get into the game world. The game will stop responding and prompt me to close the client when trying.

Hello, I was playing just last night without any issues and have been since launch day. When I tried to open the game today, I receive an error preventing the program to run. Not sure what the problem is. ^^; Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)
Thank you! c:
Okay. Wtf. Everyone wants gear treadmill, they get gear treadmill, and now everyone is QQing. Im sorry but thats not arenanet’s fault, its yours for “Forcing them” to implement it.
Those are different players that want different things. It’s not everyone. Two sides of the same coin. Unfortunately neither side can be pleased without hurting or affecting the other.
Even though there are a lot of people are raging and this thread is more or less crazy, it’s kinda nice to see how many support and stand by Anet’s original visions and manifesto. Vocal minority or not. : )
(edited by Nimmi.1650)
I admit it did make me a little nervous when I first read the news, because one of the reasons biggest my friends and I enjoy this game is its casual atmosphere towards gear. I’m going to wait for the blog post before any assumptions though. : ) I’m sure it won’t be as bad as our imaginations are making it out to be. Looking forward to the Lost Shores update. ^^

Second this request. :) I suppose it’s not truly needed, but would be greatly appreciated even if it isn’t in the near future. Males could definitely benefit with more options when it comes to variety and females too of course! The more the better~ :D As for horns, it’d be amazing to see ram horns on a Charr!
(edited by Nimmi.1650)
Patient, but still eagerly waiting for this to come out. I do hope Anet releases new customization options along with it too. More variety in male Charr faces would be great, although the chances of it happening are probably low. It seems most MMOs rarely touch their character creation/customization after launch unless they absolutely need to.

I spent around $40 dollars on this halloween event, mostly on costumes and stuff which were all amazing. No regrets there. As for chest, I didn’t spend anything on keys knowing my luck. So yes, I can definitely see myself spending more in the future. :D I do hope Anet decides to put the RNG away for Christmas though.
I personally thought Anet blew it out of the park! I’ve played many MMOs F2P and P2P, but I’ve never seen so much work go into a simple holiday. Surprisingly, I’ve ran into quite a few people in-game who felt the event sucked because there was no good loot. It’s too bad because I loved every minute of it. :) My highlights were definitely Mad King’s voice acting and the clock tower!
Sylvari Thief
No speed boost
Charr Ranger
No speed boost :)
I love this puzzle! It’s my first ever jumping puzzle in this game. xD Killed me for 8 hours, but now I can get through most of it easy. :)
Yea, that blue is such a nice colour! When I first saw it, I instantly tried to create a new Charr. XD I wonder if the Character Creation will ever be updated with those colours or certain Charr faces that are seen on NPCs, but aren’t selectable for players. There are a few flame legion Charr and Tybalt, who have faces that aren’t in the Character Creation. It would be awesome if it were ever to happen. :)
(edited by Nimmi.1650)
I noticed that some Pirate Charrs seem to have blue fur that can’t be selected in character creation either. Unless it’s just me. I can’t seem to find that shade when making a new Charr. o:
(edited by Nimmi.1650)
It took me 7-8 hours to do it, but all I can do now is cry tears of happiness. All those fails were super fun to do despite being frustrating, and it was great to meet and talk with new people through all the trials.
Lol, “cheap plastic Wal-mart toy gag daggers”. Yea, I have to admit they are a bit lack luster in comparison to the chainsaw greatsword and spider bow. The daggers aren’t quite for me, but they are still charming in sorta tacky-ish(?) halloween decoration way if you enjoy that sorta theme~
It would have been cool to do a different weapon themed dagger, like they did with the scythe/staff. Like Halloween sickles or Cobweb Chakrams. :P For whatever reason, I find Sickles pretty darn scary. Maybe I have read too many crazed farmer stories. XD Freaky looking sickles + a wicked scarecrow costume and you’d be set.

I don’t hear anything in Lions Arch either, but listening to them on Storm Cloud, wow! I love them. Playing it in the background while walking around in Lions Arch is perfect. Really sets the mood. I hope they fix the bug. The music is great. ^-^
I can’t wait to see improvements to the home instance if any are made. It’s by far my favorite concept in the whole game despite it being pretty much nothing right now. It just has so much potential! The ideas and possibilities are almost endless.
Hahaha, wow that’s perfect! That’s exactly how I’d imagine a Charr riding a broom.
In the end it’s Anet’s decision, and this decision now involves giving people who bought BLCs a different alternative to getting halloween themed items. They may not even be the same skins for all we know, so I would wait and see before giving a knee-jerk reaction. : )
Thank you Regina for the update. You guys have great communication, and I’m grateful for those getting a second opportunity for halloween goodies.^^
(edited by Nimmi.1650)
Lion Chests ordeal aside, everything has been great. Having lots of fun. <3 I absolutely positively cannot wait for the rest of the acts to take place. ^^ The art is by far my most favorite part to this update. It’s beyond words! I just love the twisted and fun style of Halloween you guys have brought to life.
It’s NEVER fun to lose hard earned money that you worked for in real life.
You should have know full well that you were gambling, and thus realized that you had potential to not get any of the unique skins. Look at this way, the BLC’s still give everything they always have, with an ADDED chance of the Halloween themed items that people might find nice to look at, you paid for a booster, tool, and set of tonics with an extra CHANCE to get the shiny skins.
I’m sure A-Net isn’t as devious as people are accusing them of being, here’s how I see it; “hey how ‘bout we add some awesome skins to the BLC for Halloween so that people that want to take the chance at getting them can show them off, and for all the people that don’t feel like taking a risk, they can just buy them off the TP if they want the skin.”
Well, first of all, I didn’t gamble. My gems were spent else where. I just find it a little sad that this is a lesson that has to be learned in the first place.
Thank you all very much for your feedback about this issue. We’ve already informed the team about all the concerns expressed in this thread, and they’ll look into it. Thanks again.
Glad you are looking over this. :) Your fans don’t only spend money because of ‘cool’ skins. They want to support the game too. Sorry if I’m complaining, but when somebody gives you a shoulder to lean on for support, the favor should be returned in respect. ^^ That said, the rest of the Halloween content is great. I hope you guys make this right. We wouldn’t be voicing our concerns if we didn’t care about the game. ;)
(edited by Nimmi.1650)
don’t you guys ever think that the drop rate is low because ANet wanted the item to be rare? If everyone got skins from every chest, and everyone was running around with halloween skinned weapons, wouldn’t you feel like it was less of an accomplishment to have one? seriously now :<
I’d rather they given a higher drop rate and made them soul bound. Yes, everyone would have them now, but as time passes and this particular hallows eve fades away, they would have become rare. Those that kept them would have been proud to use them and remember that they were there during the first holiday event ever to be hosted in GW2. You can blame people for spending their own money, but you can’t blame them on having trust in A-net. It’s NEVER fun to lose hard earned money that you worked for in real life.
Both of the halloween costumes are amazing! I love the animations with the witches costume and as horrendous as the jokes are on the Mad King’s costume, it’s pretty darn awesome as well. :)
I haven’t bought any keys since I’m cautious about ‘chance items’ due to my past experiences with other games and there aren’t any halloween weapon skins I’m really interested in. I have to admit though, just reading over this thread is enough to bring back horrible Nexon memories. The folk who spent enough to buy a second Guild Wars 2 and got nothing out of it have my sympathy.
I don’t think age or rating has anything to do with it. I know plenty of people in their 30s-40s who love children’s movies and books along with more mature novels. Many of which teared up during Brave, Up, How to Train Your Dragon, and the rest of the lot. Guild Wars 2 just happens to have less than good storytelling at the moment.
I’d rather they ‘fix’ Trahearne in the future, instead of killing him off. Letting him die is such an easy thing to do, especially for Anet. Honestly, who doesn’t die or disappear in the story? It would be a much greater accomplishment to turn him around and make him a loveable character that we can all relate to. I could see this being done if they allowed us to go revisit his character’s roots and discover more of him. After all, He does seem to have an interesting little back story. It would be a shame to throw all that potential away.
(edited by Nimmi.1650)
It also bothered me that no one in the story thought… “Dragons are quite big, since we haven’t seen one flying around in the sky a lot, he must have a lair, or a home or a retreat…. why don’t we find out where it is?”
It seemed like we were attacking him from all angles except the weakest point, and then we, as creatures that prefer the ground, put ourselves into the sky where a dragon feels at home.
I love this. It is really strange that we try to take on Zhaitan in the sky. It would have been great to create a strategy that involved throwing him the ground and finishing him off there, because as the great Gobber said himself, " A downed dragon is a dead dragon".
Yea, I’m a bit disappointed in forced grouping at the last stage too. A fight doesn’t need a party to be truly epic. It could be just as good with better NPC characters, great mechanics, interesting stages, and a lot of build up. Maybe it’s just me, but finding a party for any of the dungeons has proven to be hard. :(
(edited by Nimmi.1650)
Tengu or Naga. I’d love some sort of underwater race as well. Something from the deepest depths of the sea where it’s truly dark, wicked and strange.
I don’t think anybody is asking for new customization options for right here and now. I’d like to see them in the future when the game is in more steady and stable state.
Medium and long hairstyles for both males and females would be awesome.
When I played Charr and got up to the part where I met Trahearne, I didn’t like him all that much. Now that I’ve played Sylvari, his character appeals to me a lot more. Especially after finding a bit of information about his back story online. He’s actually a pretty interesting fellow. It’s too bad you don’t really get to see that side of him in-game. :)
Yea, I speak to almost all NPCs I walk by and a majority of the dialogue is a female sylvari in love with a male or vice-versa. :) I don’t think any of the relationships are unnatural though, they act like any normal pair of young lovers. It suits them well, being a young race and all. A lot of these sylvari seem to be experiencing their first love too, so it makes sense to me. Surely you remember how you acted the first time you dated?
