All things refine at the same time. The reason Iron seems to refine faster is that iron takes 3 ore, mithril takes 2…thus you are making MORE refined items.
It struck me as odd that iron and steel took so much when ori and mithril takes only 2.They refine at the same time, you just burnt hrough iron ore faster due to more ore being used per bar.
… what?
It’s pretty simple math. 250 mithril ore will make 125 mithril ingots. 250 iron ore will make 83 iron ingots. 83 ingots takes less time to make than 125 ingots, even if they have the same refine time.

I can get behind this, as minimal the effect would be.
The only time I even notice my characters hands are when I’m actively trying to do so, standing completely still, away from all dangers.
Between combat, particle effects, and what not, at times I forget I even have them.
But its a great idea anyway and I can see the appeal and reason for it.
Like I said, it’s mostly light armor, but medium armor is where I notice it a lot too, when I have actual gloves, not gauntlets. In between battles, I just hate sometimes that my hands are such a drastically different color than the rest of me, but that’s really the only difference.
Just a quick suggestion. It seems to me the pieces of armor that can be hidden are things that are in the real world “optional” for decency. (As in, you don’t have to wear a hat or shoulder pads or a backpack when you go outside, but a shirt and pants and shoes are usually considered needed) As gloves aren’t a required part of this, I would love the option to hide them.
There’s just a few gloves and gauntlets that I really don’t like the look of, especially certain light armors with certain shirts) and I would love to be able to hide them.
Thanks for reading!
It wouldn’t negate the cost, but for now, would it work to buy an Adept’s Training Manual or three and then use them to reset points? Or can you not use them after you’ve unlocked the first third of your traits?
you don’t need manuals to respec. just buy the respec option from the NPC. this costs less then the manuals. Manuals are used to unlock the trait tier nothing more.
Right, I meant if you want to respec without visiting a trainer, like in a dungeon or something.
That looks really nice! I wasn’t going for an exact Iron Man replica with my armor, but I was kind of going for that vibe. Here’s what I came up with:
I don’t use it on my guard, but I remember using it a lot on my Asuran ranger BWE3. I would drop in and the volley through it, stacking all the poison.

I think engies using hammers would be awesome. Give the skills a forging/smithing theme, and I am all over that!.
Ehh, it seems like a race change is a really important missing feature, whether or not it messes with the story. Why can’t the system just transfer your current mission to the equivalent mission of that race and assume you made a certain set of choices? It would be jarring, but if you really care, you could catch up by reading your journal.
Besides, by the time you join one of the Orders, your race doesn’t affect anything.
I find your guildies lack of imagination boring.
Asura Hunters (Particularly melee ones)
Sylvari and Norn Engineers
Norn Thief (Huge ones)
Asura GuardianSurely these seem stranger?
I always thought I didnt see enough Charr Thieves though personaly.
I’ve got an Asuran Guardian, and I’ve made literally all of these at some point except Norn Engie. I guess I’m just wierd.
Strangely enough, Asuran engies are also pretty out of character, since they use steampunky tech, not magitek.
We have so few weapons that you should just try them all out and see what you like. You should definitely keep a staff with you at all times, to switch to before doing large events, but if you like to run something else, go for it. I personally love D/D. It’s melee range, but the defense is much more active than a warrior or guard, so it’s a lot more engaging.
Iron Legion Charr with a Greatsaw! It is perfect and I will never stop!
This. I literally rolled a Charr Warrior just to use greatsaw.
Oh, you’re right. I had thought it gave you some non-containered karma too. Still, it seems like the option should be there, for convenience’s sake.
Cosmetic only?
Lots of animations by profession. Ones that aren’t unique right now. Like walk animations. Thieves should slink around while warriors proudly march. Maybe different animations for having Swiftness too. I want necros to start floating an inch or two off the ground when they get swiftness.
Even differences in the way weapons are carried. Mesmers should not hold a GS in the same way a Guardian does.
I don’t personally have a problem with the current rifle, but these don’t seem like bad ideas. I have always loved the idea of making certain weapons one handed on certain classes and two handed on others (Just off topic: Staff would be awesome as one handed, with a pistol or shield off hand. IDK what class for though) so your crossbow idea is cool.
As for in-game weapons, I think a hammer could be a cool addition to the engineer, giving them another melee option. You could theme it around forging and blacksmithing, so as not to be too out of theme.
Just a simple suggestion. When doing dailies yesterday, I finished them on my alt, even though I finished all the achievements on my main except Events. Then, I logged onto my main, figuring I could open the chest on him, but it’s only there for the character who finished the daily.
I would have preferred all the karma and coin go to him, and while I can just use the bank to transfer most of it, I would love to see the daily chest pop up on all characters who contributed to the achievement.

Nittles, the Asuran Guardian.
I went with an Iron Man vibe for his armor and the AC weapons, the idea being that the armor augments his Spirit Fire in some way, and it can also draw power from the Foefire, so ghost sword.

Wait, you asked for 9 copper? Seriously? I’ll send you 9 copper next time I’m on the game. As for the Esc problem, it’s a minor thing, but it should be looked at. It probably just got overlooked because the Bug Report window isn’t up all the time now.
First we need commander to be related to something WvW related. Not whoever has 100g laying around. At least make it buyable with Badges of Honor instead.
I like Silver for the main color, with any highlight color to complement it. I use silver and a blue to complement my Guard’s spirit fire. Occasionally I swap the blue out for other colors. Pitch is nice, since I picked that up before people realized it looked like Black, but I don’t know if you have that. Additionally, I really like the look of Midnight Violet, but I really like purple in general, so that’s probably a personal taste.
I’m only using one T3 armor (the helmet), but here’s what it will look like when I get it done:
(edited by Nittles.1582)
I don’t have any Legendaries, but my Guard has a Ghastly Greatsword and a Ghastly Hammer, and I can say I don’t really notice the detail when they’re in Ghastly form, but when they’re Ghostly, I see them just fine. You should still be plenty noticeable with Twilight or with any other skin that’s got some flashy effect or really big cool detail.
(While leveling, my favorite skin was that one Char one with the two blades and the gear thing in place of the crossguard, since it was really noticeable.)
Lol, it’s the only smart thing to do in these dungeons Nittles. Why pay a 15 silver if you can get no damaged equipment at all. It only seems fair to me.
It’s the same reason Magic Find doesn’t work on Chests. They don’t want you getting the benefits of the armor without the downsides. If you’re getting the stat boosts from the armor, they want you to have to pay for repairs. Even if they never remove the ability to remove your armor to avoid repairs, they’re certainly never going to make it easier. Nor do I believe they should. It’s a cheap tactic that makes no sense whatsoever.
Good idea. +1 from me!
If you’re taking your armor off before you die to avoid damage, that’s not something Anet wants you to do, so it will never be supported.
lol runescape xD come on dude, we can’t compare GW2 to runescape…
Where was the comparison to RS? He was just saying you could dual wield crossbows in RS, and it looked cool.
More skins, higher stats, and ability to be dyed/hidden.
Male Asuran Guard
Male Charr Warrior
Female Norn Ele
Female Asuran Engineer
Male Sylvari Mesmer
I’d like to takes moment to congratulate Beast on his excellent taste. I assume kaylee was to be an engineer?
That would be so shiny.
I love Devout on my ele. She finally looks like a Scholar, and not a stripper.
Might as well chime in that after 5 months of playing (not saving) mostly WvW, I finally scrapped up one CA3 helm piece for my gf. I’m not sure if it’s suppose to take this long or if ANet thinks I should waste my time “grinding” dungeons to make money, but I thought they didn’t like that.
If you’re playing WvW, of course it’s going to take you a long time. I played 6 dungeons yesterday and made 8 gold. even if I play a more reasonable number (3 a day, or so) it would one lake me about a week and a half to save up the gold.
also if they have flying enemies in guild wars they can support flying mounts
This isn’t true. They have enemies that appear to fly, but in reality, just float above the ground. If you watch, you will never see a harpy or a fire elemental move in a way that you could not match by walking. So, you could, in theory, have mounts that APPEAR to fly, but not ones that could actually fly.
But doesn’t hearing the same line over and over again make you feel six feet tall?
I agree. It’s a beautiful place, but I haven’t been anywhere except the bay where you can farm Young Karka since Lost Shores. Would love more excuses to explore. +1 to you!
Voice pitch slider is all I’m in favor of that’s realistic. I’d love voiceovers with different accents and inflections, but that’s going to be way too expensive. Just let me make my Norn Necro talk with a high squeaky voice, and my Asuran Mesmer talk with a voice so deep Morgan Freeman would be jealous.
Okay, so excluding undead is a good idea. Maybe just the 5 major racial antagonists? The ones that disappear in later zones? Bandits, Sons, Inquest, Nightmare Court, and Flame Legion.
And more challenge is good. I just think this is less challenge and more annoyance. If I want to go map complete a starting zone on my 80, I don’t want those guys hounding me for a week for doing it. It almost seems like it would punish players for returning. Even if the mobs in the later events in the chain scale to your level, I can no longer do all the starter zones in rapid succession. I have to wait a week. More challenge is fine, but not at the cost of freedom, and definitely not as a punishment for skill.
Or, we could just use WoW’s queue system without the roles built in. Just say “I want to do AC Explorable” in some window, then ignore the window until it says it’s found four other people who want to do AC Explorable as well. Then it waypoints you there ASAP, or it forces you to remain in the relevant zone.
There are a few heavy armors without manskirts. I used something like 10 Transmutes on mine keeping the same model for 20 or 30 levels.
But I agree, there need to be more pants for all armor classes.
Ehh, it feels like it would discourage higher levels from going back to lower level zones even more than they already are. Presumably, everyone who’s been to the last half of the game would constantly have the undead “bounty” (For lack of a better term, it would be something else, not a bounty.) on them, since that’s all you ever fight after, like level 35. Why would they want to have to deal with constant Bandit/Son of Svanir/Inquest/Flame Legion attacks too?
If you click to the Pack Rune page, it gives you the correct bonus for the Major and Superior Runes. (Chance to grant Might, Fury, and Swiftness to allies when struck)
TP listings need to act like vendor listings. As in, they need to be right-clickable. Why is this not already in the game?
I chuckle whenever I get an Orrian Salvage item and salvage it. Stuff like dirty rags and filthy hides. I just picture my toon sitting down and scrubbing at the stuff to clean it up.
I like sylvari, mostly because most of their skin tones complement the shades of purple I always want to color my Mesmer in
I don’t know about armor yet, since my necro is quite low level, but Charr in Death Shroud looks sick.
WASD – Move, A&D Strafe, not turn.
Target Nearest – Mouse button near my thumb
Swap Weapon – Mouse Wheel Click
1-0 – Skillz
Q – Heal
R – Elite
F1-4 -Class Skills
Z – Town Clothes
X – Draw/Sheathe Weapons
C – Dodge
V – Slot Skill 1
E – Inventory
It’s not the most efficient setup, but it works for me, and having Town Clothes and Sheathe/Unsheathe weapons bound is just for fun. I could bind keys a lot better if I unbound those, but it’s fun.
Well that’s a bummer. I think she looks way more awesome with it on.
I’ve got a high level Asura, and I went Dynamics/Infinity Ball. Maybe I’m misremebering, but I don’t ever remember seeing Zojja without her helmet. My friend rolled an Asura, went Synergetics/Infinity Ball. I went to help him with a mission in the Synergetics storyline, and Zojja didn’t have a helmet in her cutscene.
Just wondering if this was a recent change, or does she only take her helmet off in Synergetics cutscenes? Or am I just misremembering?
It only stuck out to me, because having no helmet makes her baldness really stand out.
My favorite character during BWE2 was a female Charrdian. I don’t have a Charr character yet (I’ve deleted a few because I found Rangers frustratingly UP, and Thieves boring) but when I do make a permanent Charr character I’m definitely going female. I like their horn options better and their teeth aren’t annoyingly large.
I’ve played Asura far more than Charr, and I still get lost in Rata Sum. BC is easy. Rata Sum and the Grove are the hardest for me to navigate. Divinity’s Reach can be annoying sometimes, but I’ve never been frustrated by the BC.
