It’s just the spawn invulnerable area extending a very short ways down the cliff. It isn’t an exploit and it doesn’t prevent capturing the camp. If this trivially unimportant bug serves to frustrate sleazy spawn campers this much, I hope it never gets fixed.
Yak’s Bend
If this nerf happens, not very many people will still choose to play a burst dmg build with low survivablity.
I suppose you think that is a bad thing?
Yak’s Bend
Yeah, sensationalism and hyperbole. Come on, we have no idea what they choose to focus on. It’s not as if we have patch notes to tell us. Stupid Americans.
Yak’s Bend
Why even bother attacking a gate at all? The walls are much easier to take down with siege. While I am not sure about the fully upgraded wall, a basic/fortified wall drops easily twice as fast as a normal/fortified gate.
Well that’s just not true at all.
Yak’s Bend
Bottom line that many seem to be missing, the game simply doesn’t do enough to reward out playing your opponent, and downed state is one of the main culprits. The downed state is a harsh penalty to being in a smaller group, a huge bonus to being in a larger. The arguments of interrupt the rezzers, or down them as well are laughable. Makes me think you’re unaware of just how fast you can get someone back up from downed state.
Many simple adjustments could be made without removing downed state entirely.
1. Drastically reduce downed state health. If stomping isn’t a realistic option due to the enemies team mates, damage should be able to finish them in a reasonably timely fashion. At present it is not. There’s no good reason for a downed player to have significant health you have to burn through. It adds nothing positive to the game.
2. Decrease stomping time significantly. It’s idiotic that after downing someone, you have to put yourself in an extremely vulnerable position for several seconds just to finish them.
3. Remove all stomp avoidance skills. No good reason for them to be in the game.
4. Increase revive time drastically. You shouldn’t be able to heal someone from downed faster than they can be damaged.
The game needs to reward skillful play and downing your opponents to a greater degree than it does now.
Yak’s Bend
Realistically, we just need this:
PvP downed health is now 75% of what it was.
But it needs to be 25%. No reason a downed enemy should have significant health.
Edit: I just have to add… I’ve seen some semi logical arguments for downed state in the past. But the people posting in this thread defending downed state are saying the dumbest kittening kitten I’ve heard in a while.

I don’t like the whole catapult behind the door either. But let’s face it, a siege situation in general is pretty wonky at this point, there’s more wrong with it than just the cata behind the door. The attacker has such a ridiculous advantage via ease of area denial on the walls. Defensive siege mostly has to be placed where it can be very easily destroyed. How many positions are there to put a balista on a tower where it can actually fire at enemies and be relatively safe from the swarm of cluster bombs/meteors/etc?
Until the whole siege scenario is adjusted to behave more realistically, you know, like actually give the defenders the advantage you would expect from a fortified position, I’m fine with the cata behind the door.

I’m seriously disappointed they added a new tier of gear. This game wasn’t supposed to be a treadmill, and not even 3 months in, Anet gets all wishy washy about it. This new tier seems to serve no purpose other than to give whiners a WoW like progression because that’s the only type of MMO they understand.
Yak’s Bend
If they add any sort of temporary immunity or diminishing returns to CC I will quit immediately and won’t be the only one. DR is a half kittened way to deal with either too much or too powerful CC. If control is a problem in a game, DR is never a good way to deal with it, it’s a band aid. Anyway, I’m not really experiencing the melee woes you seem to be.
Structures do need to take much longer to cap. A few golems and a mesmer or two shouldn’t be all you need to take a keep in 2 min. Walls and doors just need more health.
Yak’s Bend
Not really.

Alright, I’ll just say it. Terrible video, no idea what the point of it was or why you posted it to the forums. Tip: if you feel the need to explain with text over your video what is happening in the video, something has gone horribly wrong.
Yak’s Bend
Okay okay, I’ll just say it since everyone else wants to just blow smoke up everyone’s kittens. This week is horrible so far, all you posting “great match” and all that bs, is this your first time in WvW? The maps are empty, combat is nearly impossible to find. Each server holds their borderland in its entirety and EB is divided in thirds with few incursions. None of which is surprising since there are maybe 20 people on a map.
I hate PvE patches, ruin my fun.
Yak’s Bend
I’m quite baffled as to why Anet hasn’t put much effort into WvW. There are dozens of games where I can go fight a scripted monster, many of which do scripted monsters better than GW2. PvE in this game is frankly sub par. sPvP and tPvP also aren’t particularly well done or much different from what I can get from another generic MMO. WvW is what differentiates GW2 from run of the mill MMOs and really should be the star of this game.

Conspiracy theory at work – but it seems so far that TC is going solely for FA and giving YB a free ride. In fact, YB is barely touching TC either.
Why do I say this?
Because in EB they didn’t touch each others supply camps at all, it was just both constantly attacking FA’s camps.
At the same time, TC took nothing in YB BL. And once TC took all of their own BL they didn’t attack YB at all, instead their zerg came to FA BL instead.
Similarly, YB has barely attacked anything but FA held stuff.
So right now it’s like 1 team (FA) versus 2 teams, as neither TC or YB have really attacked each other.
I was in EB attacking supply camps on both sides for several hours last night. TC defended theirs, you didn’t. And I guess that 3 hour siege where we eventually took Stonemist from TC doesn’t count as attacking them. /rolls eyes
Yak’s Bend
Defensive structures would be very cool. Encircling barriers around your offensive siege so the enemy can’t just res zerg them down. Maybe some sort of covering structure around tower walls to help with the area denial advantage attackers have. Building a fortification inside a supply camp would be awesome.
Yak’s Bend
Ah, the participation trophy generation.
Yak’s Bend
I also play a thief and zergs that actually know what they are doing will kill you within 30 seconds every single time.
30 seconds for a full zerg to kill a lone thief huh? Balanced.
Get over it man, this isn’t the first game that has had this sort of garbage capture prevention from perma stealth. It’s broken and everyone but the few thieves who like abusing a clearly broken mechanic know it. It always gets fixed.
Yak’s Bend
Complaints of double teaming crack me up. What do you think happens in WvW? People just run around attacking objectives at random? What do you think should happen when 2 teams see a weak opponent? Maybe one of them should be noble to avoid the mysterious double teaming, and let the other have all the territory. Yeah, that’s how it should work.
Yak’s Bend
What a horrible idea.
Yak’s Bend
Has anyone seen 80 people take a castle, and then spend the next 10 minutes looking for mesmers?
But 20 idiots who can’t find a single thief for 2mins is taking up huge amounts of mental reserves.
Anything a class can do that is unique you people, and I do mean you people, will cry about for daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaays n daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaays lol.
Yeah, because a keep or Stonemist is totally comparable to a supply camp, should definitely require the same level of attention. Got a smart one here fellas.

Sorry to hear that you’re thinking of leaving SoR. I remember your guild from that epic match up we had with NSP a few weeks ago, some good fighting. Was also there for the JQ invasion nonsense that presumably began the events that has you wanting to leave.
What a tragedy that SoR’s new found success may be enjoyed more by new transfer guilds and pathetic bandwagoners who want to be on a 1337 server than the original SoR guilds.
Yak’s Bend
Downed state isn’t the worst thing in the world as a concept, the main problem with it is how it’s implemented. It’s too kittening powerful across the board. Looking at Elementalists, since I play one, I was over joyed at the recent change to downed state. Finally mine didn’t suck compared to most other classes. I quickly realized how absolutely stupid it is now however. I can do whatever dumb thing I feel like knowing I’ve got a get out of jail free card, and there’s not a thing my opponent can do about it. It’s terrible for game play. Most classes have at least one similarly outrageous downed skill. There should be nothing powerful about downed state. A chance for your team mates to get you back up? Sure, not bad in concept, but when you can kill your living opponent, or easily correct your own sloppy play because it’s just so easy to avoid getting stomped, something is wrong.
Rezzing from death simply needs to go. You died, there needs to be a penalty for that beyond a trivial repair cost.
Yak’s Bend
It’s hilarious listening to the thieves defend this tactic. Yeah, 20 people can eventually find the thief. It takes a while and it requires the majority of the group to be putting in an effort to find him. And somehow it’s totally reasonable to you that a large group should require a coordinated effort from everyone to deal with one person. Get a grip, it’s broken and you know it.
Yak’s Bend
You seem far too focused on total score.

Day 2 over for me. We had quite a few of us staying up very late, and a job well done Yak’s. Have fun with the unguarded doors CD, we’ll be back for them tomorrow.
Yak’s Bend
NA prime time for Ambrosiaa seems to be the times when CD has a lead, ending when CD does not. Eh well, can’t argue with someone who invents their own reality. Day 2 NA prime time nearing it’s end now. CD who began with all three orbs and near total map control has lost all orbs and is in third as far as map control.
Yak’s Bend
You have to be very badly outnumbered. 2 to 1 is not enough to get the buff.
Yak’s Bend
Yak’s has never had much of a night crew, it’s a misconception that we do. When other servers complain about us night capping, it’s just US players staying up late on a Friday night. We’ve never had a strong presence in the morning hours.
Anyway, CD can have the map at night, at least we know we win in a fair fight.
Yak’s win in a ‘fair’ fight? You must be joking. There is no fair fight here. CD does not even belong in the same tier as Yak’s.
Not sure I understand you. We beat CD last night when numbers were even. We’re rapidly taking back the map now.

Great fights friday night. Looks like the PvDoor is strong with CD unfortunately.
Hopefully it won’t spoil the match up.

I dunno Kardiamond, you’re kind of off topic here. I’m aware that AR and BP are pretty much always matched against a much stronger server and while that’s unfortunate, it has nothing to do with gold. It’s a function of how the server populations are distributed. Giving you free upgrades wouldn’t help the matter much. You’re really just kittening about your server right now, I see no argument to change the gold cost in WvW.
Yak’s Bend
Basically I’m hearing that the lower tier servers have so many under leveled players that many don’t have the resources yet for upgrades and siege. I’m failing to see why that is a problem, or needs to be adjusted game wide. The other servers in those tiers should be roughly in the same boat. It doesn’t matter if you can’t afford upgrades if the servers you face can’t either. And what’s stopping you from leveling your characters?
Yak’s Bend
How much gold do you have and how much do you think it takes to purchase upgrades? I’m genuinely curious. You also know you can buy siege with badges of honor right?
Yak’s Bend
I’m afraid I don’t agree at all. I’ve found gold to be a non issue frankly. Maybe the problem your server faces is just getting people to spend the gold they have? And don’t the servers you face have similar issues?
Yak’s Bend
SoR came back and smashed YB well before anyone transferred over.
Really?
Daboss here, commander of Wv3 for Tempest Wolves formerly of Jade Quarry.
…
SoR has been very welcoming to the guilds that transfered here, you’ve gotten JQ’s original foundation… the one’s that ran the borderland that would beat hod at its prime. Irony, Knights of White Wolf, Dawn Eternal, Tempest Wolves, Exitium, Final Dawn, Lords of Corruption, Fate and others guilds and not to mention a handful of solo players that enjoyed the type of Wv3 experience that we collectively brought
…
When we transfered here from JQ (at noon pst saturday) Yaks had a dominate lead of 25k+ and plenty of screenshots on these forums boasting to Yak’s early victory.
Anyway, that’s what happened. Yak’s was pushed into this bracket by a huge transfer to SoR from JQ. It’s unfortunate for everyone involved, excepting the original SoR I suppose.
Yak’s Bend

It wasn’t even night capping tbh. Yak’s had all of the borderlands before midnight pacific time.
Yak’s Bend
I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that large guilds transferring servers are the reason GoM has been getting creamed for the past few weeks. I realize it’s frustrating, pretty much all servers have been in such a situation. I hope you re-think your decision. All you can do by moving your guild is exacerbate the problem.
Yak’s Bend
This is really unfortunate. Just goes to show how free server transfers don’t just ruin one week of WvW, but subsequent weeks by putting servers in brackets they really shouldn’t be in. I’m hoping you guys can get some sort of a foothold so we can have some fighting. Otherwise this is just another unplayable week thanks to guilds server hopping and Anet mysteriously allowing it.
Yak’s Bend
I imagine a lot of us can play contentedly until some of the problems are fixed. Downed state, orb bonuses encouraging snowballing, PvDoor, invisible enemies, yada yada yada. What needs to end immediately is all the disgusting server transfers. It does far more to ruin match ups than any of the technical or design problems. A few more weeks like this past week, with the game ruined for the majority of the player base by large scale transferring, and I can’t see WvW surviving in any sort of a healthy state.
Yak’s Bend
Yo Rashka and Warmonkey, did you completely miss how you had a minimum of 8 guilds, plus followers transfer to SoR? It was posted in this thread by a leader of one of the transferring guilds. They transferred on Saturday, which was the point you started making your come back. Until they transferred you were being smoked. Quite the coincidence eh?
This game’s about to end so I don’t care about it any more, but get a clue. This wasn’t the original SoR buckling down, or Yak’s Bend giving up faced by a determined foe. You got carried.
Yak’s Bend
Those server transfer guilds you’re so fond of mentioning haven’t really been out this week either, I’m a regular in WvW and it’s been a real slow week for us. The entirety of Yak’s and GoM simply gave up from the get-go, there is no one to blame for that but yourselves.
What nonsense. I’ve seen the transfer guilds in Wv3 all week. How could you miss them? There was no giving up, you had a huge number of players transfer and were putting double our numbers on the map. You’re deluding yourself if you think otherwise.
Yak’s Bend
Anyone who thinks the large number of transfers didn’t win this game needs to get their head examined. Whatever, a game ruined by free transfers, what else is new. Sadly this not only ruins the game for the week of mass transfers, but results like this put servers in brackets they don’t belong, ruining the next week as well.
I don’t blame you guys for transfering. I wouldn’t sit in a 2 hour queue either, which you had because of free transfers. It’s baffling and frustrating that Anet is still allowing this to happen.
Yak’s Bend
As to the orb hacking, it’s pretty discouraging to hear people suggest Yak’s condones this as a server and coordinates attacks around an attempted hack. Maybe some of you have forgotten that we gave an orb back last week as well when it was hacked. We are just as interested in a fair match as SoR and will report hackers on our server as vigorously as you will.
Anyway, glad to see the match is close now. Seems we had a lot of people consider the job finished after Friday. Expecting a good fight for the rest of the week.
Yak’s Bend
Another reason this change is bad, the length of the map. A five man krewe from a small guild at present, can have fun in enemy territory taking out yaks and camps. Even if they lose a couple, a stealth’d or sneaky mesmer can get away, then rez their little team back. Making them run all the way across the map to have their fun isn’t exactly balancing, just because you don’t like how squads keep each other going.
Yeah, it would be ridiculous to have to revive and run back if you get killed deep in enemy territory. :/
Come on man.
Yak’s Bend
I’m pretty disappointed at all the whining already. Quite a change from the relatively sportsmanly and respectful match we had last week. There was no double teaming, and Yak’s did not out number anyone tonight. SoR and GoM, you got outplayed. Sorry. Hopefully you can put up a better fight than this throughout the week. SoR, I know you’re capable, GoM I’m not sure about. The whining and excuses certainly aren’t helping.
Yak’s Bend
Wont let me quote for some reason.
Yea nut I guess so except we are now fighting both of you. Sanct to win and you all to stay second.
Basically we deserve minimal second but have to 2 on 1 the last day and end up third because we could have actually won while you all kittened around with us since you were to far back to matter.
It was never a 2 on 1, SoR was fighting us hard till the very end. They managed to come up with a zerg in NSP border around 4pm eastern that was double what we had in the zone, cleared us out completely. In Yak’s border they were pushing hard into our territory until 6pm when we finally repelled them, not really bothering with NSP at all. We had a slight focus on NSP, but I assure you, we were taking SoR territory as often as we could, and SoR was certainly not leaving us alone.
I don’t want to get in an argument here, but this comment is just sour grapes, nothing more.
Yak’s Bend
Fantastic match up… Have to say most action packed week we have ever had.
shame we led about 60% of the week total to have it come down to fighting sanctum AND yak the last 24 hours. Im a little sad to see yak resort to playing for second and not for the win. Much respect to sanc tho.
We took one supply camp in sanct FAR away from yaks spawn and defended it against 2 waves of sanct…. only to have yak come in from the rear and flank us????
It was the ONLY spot on the map not owned by sanc… so they had to make a LOT of effort to get there and it was not by any means a small group.
Well, at the point where it becomes mathematically impossible to take first, wouldn’t you cut your losses and play for second? That’s what we did these past few hours.
Anyway, best match we’ve seen on Yak’s and wouldn’t be surprised if this was the closest match in the game to date. Would love to fight this one again, best of luck to all teams in the next match.
Oh, and congrats to SoR. We are coming for you next week!
