This week is the first I’ve fought Mag’s in a while, but based on this weekend, they out number us. Out numbered in tier 4, yet able to punch into tier 3. All in a day’s work.
Yaks has had a full online population 24/7 since our match up started. Mag hasn’t had a full total online population since the first week after launch.
I like this match up with you Yakkies, but you’re literally insane if you think you got less or equal numbers with Mag or even EBay.
Did you just look at the server capacity tag? We’re talking WvW here.

Until culling is fixed, adjustments to thief are impossible to gauge. With how stealth interacts with culling, thief does have an unfair advantage in WvW, but you don’t want to make class adjustments because of a temporary issue somewhere else in the game.
Are we really still calling culling a temporary issue?

Okay the siege i can see, so why in the hell the best way to get badges from jumping puzzles?
Yeah or you could you know… kill people, which gives badges at a faster rate. Unless you just fall over and die of course.

Yak’s Bend has a similar population (or at least they did weeks ago) to Fort Aspenwood during NA primetime. The problem is that their population stops showing up after the weekend. I’m actually surprised they were not winning in the hours after reset in their current match. They only came back at night. Maybe they really do have a lower population now.
Yak’s has never had FA’s population, it’s not even close now. If it seems like it, it’s because player for player we beat just about anyone. Add me to the ’it’s worse’ pile. Allies not rendering is a nuisance, and enemies are not rendering any faster. If anything they’re rendering more slowly.

No thanks. EB jumping puzzle takes up too much time. Time people are not contributing to their team’s effort. Ban portals and you just take more people away from the map for longer periods of time. Which brings me to:

I don’t know if server merges are the answer. They need to attract more players into WvW and away from fractals, cursed shore and pointless legendary farming. WvW populations are laughable right now and a lot of it is because Anet hasn’t done anything with it.

Just to comment about FA’s defenses vs YB’s defenses again
While that was happening, referring to the image of a pure green fabl you were speaking of, PRO + a few pugs had roughly 30 people at Cliffside in ybbl. They did really well holding it, to give them credit, but obviously was a hopeless defense since they had nothing else on the map. Meanwhile, they lose their entire border to what frankly wasn’t a particularly strong push from TC.
I don’t get FA sometimes to be honest. Seems like they don’t really want to compete sometimes and would rather just screw around. They’re the only server I’ve fought and would say that about. They have the numbers to put queues on all 4 maps on friday night, comical really compared to what YB can muster. yet massively struggle to beat YB who can at best put half that on the map.
I’ve always said I prefer to be the out numbered server and win with team work and superior player skill. We’re still doing really well if you ask me and I’m immensely proud to be a member of yaks. There are times however when I get frustrated with being horribly out numbered, look at FA and shake my head. Give us their potential numbers and we would crush this tier.

Half of the time you guys flip the Dredge camp you storm into our camp too. In fact today we were barely able to scratch you guys at Speldan while you flipped Rogue’s at least three times. Don’t tell me you guys don’t consider 30 Yak’s Benders a zerg?
Sure it is, I didn’t get on till later today, can’t speak for what happened before hand. But what you’re describing is highly atypical and I trust I don’t need to explain how unusual events can’t logically be used to support an argument. Frankly I’m doubtful we sent 30 several times tonight. When I was on tonight, we attacked with 8 or 9. We don’t have the resources to send 30 there unless there’s some pressing reason to flip the camp, which is rare.
This is the second week running I’ve been on the western supply route in EB. Quite honestly I’ve been there more than probably anybody on this board. Attacks from yaks are typically 5-8 people on rogues, that’s all we can spare. The majority of the times we flip dredge we do so with 5 or fewer and don’t bother with rogues because we’ve learned it provokes a TC zerg at our camp. TC on the other hand is almost guaranteed to send 20+ up towards speldan’s every time a dredge event is up.

Are you suggesting GODS lost only a few people? Because I haven’t seen more than a handful this week, compared with endless 40 man zergs last week. PRO on the other hand looks like the new GODS.

Any change is highly likely to be a one week hiatus, so you guys might as well get used to this match up. If Yak’s moves down, we most likely would crush T4, and I don’t think there’s any reason to believe CD has changed enough in the past 3 weeks to do anything in T3. And trust me TC, you do not want to fight SoR and Blackgate in T2.

Out of curiosity, what are TC queues like? FA actually had a queue on every single map in prime time which was awesome, the first time I’ve seen it.
On TC there are queues on every map at peak hours too and often there is a queue to EB at off-hours.

Just to make the picture clear for everyone since i noticed that not everyone is getting the point :
If enemy attackers build a siege you can go out and kill it with player attack but if defenders build a siege on top of unreachable supply depot from outside player attacks something is wrong since rest of the siege weapons are placed on the walls which make them attackable like the weapons attackers deploy outside when attacking and vulnerable to player attacks and thats why defended.
keywords : Reachable and Unreachable.
It’s reachable with a treb and in some cases a cata. I think you should explain why you think siege should all be reachable with player AE.

It’s certainly completely out of whack when compared to the relative cost of obtaining Karma or crafted gear. I wouldn’t increase the drop rate, since badges can buy siege. Increasing the drop rate would make siege essentially infinite for many of us. I’d reduce the cost of the gear to be more in line with the time commitment required to obtain gear via other activities.

I don’t see the issue with this. If anything, defensive siege is much too easy to destroy. There are many towers designed such that there are no safe places to put siege along walls with a clear shot, i.e. Lake tower, Woodhaven/Longview/Sunnyhill, Anza. AEing down siege on a wall, and area denial of players on walls is far too easy. Having positions for siege that players can’t just AE down in seconds is absolutely necessary. You can always treb it down. A siege of a tower should be more than just AEing down the siege and dropping rams at the door.

The ‘400k -30k = non WvW population’ is just a horribly misleading number. It suggests people play exclusively one or the other which just isn’t true. It includes players fiddling with the TP, players AFK in Lion’s Arch, players leveling a new character, players in queue for WvW, players fiddling with the dye on their character and a host of other activities. Many of these are dedicated WvW players, but you’re including them in the non WvW segment. I know I play exclusively for WvW, but only about 80% of my time logged in is spent in a WvW map. It’s entirely possible that people identifying themselves as WvW players as opposed to PvEers is a small segment of the population. But let’s be realistic, if you are in the ball park, it’s via pure chance not because this analysis is rigorous.
Anyway, which is it really? Does WvW receive little development because there aren’t many players, or are the current population woes a result of PvE focused development. Personally I think it’s the latter.

The heart of the problem there though is that the ‘system’ as it is designed is highly against defending. Meaning there is no reward most times for many hours whatsoever. No gold, no karma, no xp, not even any fun. What happens is that you spend a night chasing after some camps if your lucky which is irritating at best.
I’m on a boat right now. There’a a lot of us on this boat and I don’t know where we’re going, don’t care either. In this boat, we don’t give a rat’s kitten about karma, xp or gold, but we do have fun defending. Thanks for all the badges in EB tonight TC! Your zergs are huge and only rarely productive.

A bit hard to defend your borderlands when both opposing servers are blitzing their respective sides simultaneously and apparently unhindered by the other server’s presence in the map. Was looking for those cross swords at greenlake or redbriar so that we could capitalize and counter on a split force but those never turned up for some reason. o.0
Yeah, that’s sort of how it goes on your own border. There’s little point to the back and forth between the attackers at the island, so you push north. At least until you take the keeps. The other two servers seem to be able to handle their defense just fine.
I think we’re all a little tired of this crying wolf over non existent double teams. This is the 4th or 5th time, beginning on page 1, that members of the FA server have whined on this thread over perceived double teaming and I think we’re all a little sick of it. Stop making excuses for having so much trouble on your border and step up your game if it bothers you.

Meh, we pretty much had to call it off when outmanned popped up. That was no more than 10 min. after north outer fell. Of course pubs being pubs, I’m sure you still saw a lot of people milling around. Wasn’t a serious attack. Was disappointed we couldn’t assault SM, was hoping for another siege like the one last night, but such is the life of the out numbered server.
Edit: We may give another go at it tonight. We’ll see.

There’s actually a number of decent matches right now. After a month or more, the fallout from the blackgate/henge/ET/SoR (among others) mass transfers is finally stabilizing. Shouldn’t be more than a week or two before henge/ET stop falling and creating gross imbalance. No offense henge/ET guys who stuck with it, not your fault of course and I salute your loyalty to your server. With any luck, we won’t get much more band wagoning.

The fight actually in the lord room was so laggy and rendering such an issue, you couldn’t have picked a side to focus if you wanted to. Even fighting at all was a problem for many people, skills just wouldn’t fire, and you couldn’t see anyone not right in front of you to fire them at anyway. Suggesting TC picked a side to focus during the lord room fight is laughable.
As for the battles before Yaks pushed into the lord room. It took an hour, maybe an hour and a half between breaking the outer wall to pushing into the keep. TC initially defended the north with a very large force and significant defensive siege. TC however was completely unable to fight Yaks on the ground despite similar numbers. The 2 or 3 times they tried, it was a slaughter. Some time later, after destroying siege, fighting wall defenders, TC fell back to build siege in the lord room. By this time, FA was beginning to attack SM as well. Maybe this is when Vagrant tried telling people to focus FA. It didn’t make a bit of difference. Whatever stalling of FA they attempted didn’t work. All 3 teams were in the lord room in force at roughly the same time.
As for the subsequent defense of SM. I destroyed those catas you’re talking about. Maybe you told people to leave them, maybe you didn’t, it didn’t matter. If you’d stayed, you would have died there. After losing SM, TC lost most of their map presence. They was in no position to be making any sort of an impact. All TC was doing at this point was skirmishing with Yaks in front of SM. Over the next couple of hours TC mostly stayed in their territory, they certainly had no impact on the FA siege of SM. The only time they really left their territory was to push north and take the western towers from Yaks while we were busy fighting FA on the east. They didn’t stay to defend them.
The situation hadn’t changed when our wall upgrade finished, trapping FA inside. You certainly could not have wiped FA for us, despite what you would like to think. I don’t think you realize how many people FA had in EB at that point since they were all on our side of the map. I assure you, you did not have the numbers to keep them out of SM.
I don’t doubt you and maybe a few others were saying in /team to concentrate more on FA than Yaks. Ultimately though, whatever you tried to do had no material impact on the outcome.

Yes, it’s possible and even likely at this point. I hope there is a rematch and numbers are back to normal. This week has been horribly boring due to not having the man power to significantly attack borderlands. That’s across the board, but particularly on Yak’s side. Just logged in a few minutes ago, saw everyone mostly sitting in their respective thirds, logged straight out.
