[Suggestion] Build Presets / Profiles

Odin the exiled.5764

yep lol i know i requested it long time ago. What i would also like for it is for pvp to use the actual build template they have for the weapons. So many times players have switched from pve to join a pvp match and end up being stuck with wrong weapon set or trying to add the right weapons but failing to add them all. I know i had this the other night in ranked. Was on my ele, we had another ele on the team so i switched to my guard since we didnt have one. My guard had his pve weapons on and by the time i loaded back into the match i only had 10 seconds to get the right weapons equipped. Needless to say i only got my sword no offhand and longbow on lol. So if they would actually let us set the weapons in pvp (not just wants in your hands currently) that would be super helpful. And once they got that done, then adding a build template like that to wvw would work too, since wvw already saves your build and i think utitlies too. Would make all the game modes more seemless and would be more worth their time doing that then some of the silly skill updates they do for casting and aftercast by .3 seconds lol

Guild Missions Suggestion

Odin the exiled.5764

Being from a super small guild (can barely get 3 players for pvp or the wvw ones) having the time limit removed would be really handy for those 2 types. Specially the wvw since my server is in T1, which makes it extremely hard to hold/upgrade things.

What i would also like is the required player cap removed for them. Would make it easier to complete them aswell, specially when i only have 1 other guidlie on and they’re a non-wvw/pvp player

I wouldnt even call these skill updates, they’re just minor tweaks for most part, changing aftercast/recharge/casting time. Rarely do we get to see a GW1 skill update, where they actually change a useless skill into something else. Sometimes for the better sometimes not. ie glimmering mark or double dragon Players started to actually use them once they got changed and brought in with a skill update. The same thing can be done in gw2 with many of their unused utility skills and even the racial ones too. I know myself i love playing a norn, chose them to invoke and change into a bear or wolf but those elites are really bad and too long of recharge for pve fun mode. So to me changing a skill or a functionality like shadowstep/teleport is a skill update, but changing aftercast/cast/recharge by .3 seconds is not and that’s what most of their skill updates are changing things that don’t matter to 80% or more of the gaming population

Exactly Behllagh, that’s why i feel many stay away too is how toxic they can be and players just don’t wanna see it. One of my friends from gw1 is kitten year old lady, she’s not fast on the button pressing, stands still alot too, so how would you expect her to handle wvw or pvp? It’d be very very frustrating for her, being yelled at by her own team for stinking when she’s trying her best, let alone being face rolled by the other team. The only pvp she actually does is a custom blue team wins, where the WHOLE goal is to make it fun with no name calling, trolling, no pressure, keeping the atmosphere fun for everyone’s skill level.

I even tried doing pvp on my alt account so i could get it into ranked matches to get it ascended gear. It’s a non-HoT account, and it was very frustrating to play unranked to get to rank 20 because your dealing with either teams 3-5 vs. all random, Skill level is not considered at all so you can get very lopsided fights, which just creates toxic players. You also run into guild teams of 5 where those 5 players are all an op class and top 100 ranked pvp’ers doing unranked just so they can faceroll everyone to inflate their egos. Again it makes pvp not fun nor worth the time for many since it’s much easier to avoid this kind of atmosphere.

For wvw, right now im not doing it as much since i’ve been doing the ranked pvp to get ascended so my dailies are done there, but once the season is over which thankfully is soon. I’ll go back to doing my 1-2 wvw dailies plus pve dailies. And even once i go back to wvw it’s just not fun for me. I’m just an avg. player stuck in T1 wvw and the peak time for my server is much much smaller then the other’s in T1 so your almost always being ganked by 3-10 players. Not to mention the crafting stations have been removed from wvw so im there even less, so i never know when WK/EK are being attacked. At least when the crafting stations were there, i could be crafting and would see someone shout 10 BG at EK cataspot wall 75%, and i could head over to help them, making me stay longer and actually do wvw, now im just in there to finish 1 or 2 fast dailies and if nothing “exciting” is happening during that time, then im outta there

Also i find since megaservers were added, the wvw players don’t come to LA anymroe to shout NEED HELP AT EK HOME BORDERLAND like they used to. Since there is no point since chances of having others from your home server are much smaller now. My server used to have a player roleplay as a new’s anchor for wvw and he/she would always come to LA and let us know how we were doing in wvw or if we needed help on a near daily basis. Since megaserver that player doesnt do that anymore cuz their is no point

i’ve personally never heard the dreamer make any noise so i dont’ know how annoying it is. But yes there are some annoying sounds in teh game like female human guardians and their screeching voice for retreat. What annoys me more then the sound is why does my guard have to look like he’s pooping when i use staff #4 skill specially when a ranger comes along and muddy terrain’s me during it lol

scrap it and start over. Current legendary armor is ugly, plus they need 3 types (heavy, medium and light) I do not want my ele or mesmer wearing it if it’s gonna look like heavy armor. As it is now it just reminds me of the guyver and since im not fighting zoanoid’s on a daily basis i don’t need my toon to look like a guyver lol

when i run sword/pistol spam #3 skill, gives you an evade for a bit which i find really useful. I also use shortbow as my 2nd weapon set. I use the stealth healing skill and for utitlies more stealth skills lol. I stink on a thief so i find for pve stealthing is your get out of trouble button, since the mobs stop attacking you and don’t follow you so it’s great when you need to run. In general til you get more used to the game, id always run 1 melee set of weapons and 1 ranged set. Do keep your thief though they take lots and lots of practice to get really good, specially for wvw and pvp. Theif is one class that is easy to tell the really really great players from the avg. joe. Main thing is to have fun.

"Matchmaking" sucks - EVIDENCE

in PvP

Posted by: Odin the exiled.5764

Odin the exiled.5764

even unranked has horrible match up mechanics. Played against 5 supposed Top 100 players, all playing guards, all teamed up (supposedly all in same guild) all pretending to be new to pvp just to troll the unranked players. How are players supposed to even learn the pvp side of the game against teams like these, when your just solo que and put with other solo players lol. They really need to make those ppl that choose to team up 3, 4 or 5 members wait for other teams of 3, 4 or 5. Why should new players/avg. skilled players even have to suffer through these teams even in unranked.

2 Things id love to see changed in pvp

in PvP

Posted by: Odin the exiled.5764

Odin the exiled.5764

The first is getting rid of daze/stun or increase their cooldown’s. They get spammed way too much and it’s all some ppl run cuz they’re cheap builds.

The second is change all teleport/shadowstep skills to be the same. I play guardian mainly and my sword #2 that has the teleport but it does not go through walls or elevations like other teleport/shadowstep skills can making some of the maps slower to get around.

The first one is only really bad when it’s a whole team like that though lol. But the 2nd one would be very nice since it would even help with pve and wvw

Incredibly low player skill population?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Odin the exiled.5764

Odin the exiled.5764

There used to be hints that helped you understand combo fields, etc. As for CC there was no need for it in pve until they added the breakbar so of course players not familar with the term are not going to know it.

As for pvp, the skill level gets higher once your into ranked matches. For some reason in unranked players don’t care to learn what to do, they’d rather just kill or afk, or test out builds/new classes. So the “skill level” is going to be down in there cuz of that, but once you start doing ranked matches, most players understand their roles and to hold 2 points and fighting on the point, plus using meta builds.

Other then that id say it’s the classes, some are low skill classes where others are high skill classes. Like thief i am HORRIBLE on my thief lol i do ok for most solo pve stuff, but im not skilled enough to solo a dungeon. Even wvw and pvp on my thief im not that great at killing ppl compares to my mesmer. Which becomes part of the problem ele’s and engineer’s are another great example they’re both fun to play but they really require a lot of skill for solo’ing harder content or pvp/wvw stuff. But since they’re fun to play lots of different skill leveled players are going to use them.

Only thing you can really do, is try to make friends/guilds to run higher skilled stuff to match your own skill level, so you can avoid the other’s as much as possible and stick with it and don’t let the lower skilled players get you down.

It’s set by default to follow the weekly rotation of guild missions, some weeks are pve, some pvp, some wvw. But like mentioned above you can set preference to anyone of those and you’ll ONLY get that as a choice. So easiest one is pve, you’ll get trek, bounty, race. For race you can piggy back on other bigger guilds which makes it much easier specialy once you level up the guild and get medium and hard missions unlocked. Also with the recent change just doing 1 trek location for example will give you a weekly reward (gold items, silver, and guild commendation) So it’s really worth setting it to pve just to get faster rewards. Also when it becomes time to get a guild hall, Feel free to ask in map, there are some nice players out there that will join and help get the guild hall.

I don’t mind them, only have “issues” with them on a few classes. Don’t generally die though, usually can rally. I find my biggest issue with them is the community. Been there so many times when other ppl are there and no one wants to help kill them. They’d rather just gather while they all attack 1 person that you can see struggle. Or if someone did die there, they’ll just kill/gather then leave. I know for me personally when i do go there, if someone is fighting them i join in, if someone is dead i’ll revive, even if i feel they’re afk and will just die again (but that’s also cuz i think it’s funny when a person comes back and see their toon is now naked from dieing too much lol)

Plus it’s just the one set of wyvern’s that’s a real pain, but they do die fast, just need to dodge their fireball snot shot, since that can almost 1 shot you, which does get hard when 5 of them are flying at you lol. Personally i love using my engineer or thief for that farm, since i can just use stealth and avoid them saving me some time.

Guilds

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Odin the exiled.5764

Yeah, favor and gxp are 2 different things. Favor is needed for upgrades/getting the hall etc… The Gxp is added from the upgrades. So like right now, if you go to LA to the guild building place, and buy the anvil upgrade, It takes x amount of money and x amount of favor, once you purchase that upgrade then in return your guild gain’s 50-150 gxp.

Once you get your guild hall it’ll make a bit more sense to you, since you’ll have more buildings and upgrades to do. Also since you have a small guild, if you can get a few players together, go to whatever map you plan on getting the guild hall and ask in map chat. Usually there will be some nice ppl around that’ll spare 15-20minutes to help you get it. Just try to keep your squad size no bigger then 9. As 10 players spawns the extra thingy you have to kill making it harder has you’d have to split the group. I know when i got mine i was the only guildie there and 6-7 nice ppl joined the party to help me get it for my small guild.

I don’t even care about these home instance cats, they’re just a waste of time. I spend maybe 1 hour on the game a day and would rather do something productive then waste my time decorating my house or cleaning it, or doing some fishing. Which as we all know, once a fishing guide comes out on dulfy, that’d be the way most ppl would do it anyways. To speed through it to waste little time as possible.

Precursor Masteries

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Odin the exiled.5764

Odin the exiled.5764

since your going for twilight, it’s a toss up for what will cost you more. If you don’t mind farming the materials like mithril crafting the pre in this case is probably good. I know for me i look at the crafting the pre a long term cheapest thing to do BUT i would only do it on twilight and bifrost. If the pre is under 600g easier to save the gold and buy the pre right out then the 600-1k gold to craft it (specially if you wanna craft it asap) It will take awhile to craft it though, specially if you don’t wanna spend much as you’ll have to farm for those daily ascended materials.

Best xp,hmmm i’d say it’s all the same really just pop some xp boosters and do up events. I don’t think anyone does the CoF XP farm anymore since the rush of masteries is kind of over lol. Just make sure you keep farming stuff in tyria, so S2 living story should still work for that. Also remember masteries are account wide. So once your done getting xp from like hero points/exploring maps/s2 on one character you can switch to another character do it again still get max xp going to that mastery. I know that’s how i did my HoT masteries for xp

Returning to GW2 after 3 years

Odin the exiled.5764

lol that’s cause he’s adding everything over the 4 years of the game though. Like southsun cove was added a few months after launch lol. And he didnt mentioned Guild halls, mega servers, cross guild chat’s from what i can tell either lol.

To Op: Personally i find the game at it’s core hasnt changed. You still have to farm 24/7 if you want money to buy gems or items needed for legendary, been that way since launch. The expansion isnt worth the full price imo the HoT maps are not that fun, not til you’ve grinded your way to get about 60ish mastery points to take the masteries that start making those maps easier and more fun. I havent done raids so i can’t comment on them. WvW is basically the same still, slight changes to it for the better for most part. Same with pvp, they even added pvp seasons now and with the current revamp of it, even if you stink at pvp like me you can still progress to gain ascended armor/weapons with less effort/money then the 2 other formats, with the only “price” being waiting for the seasons.

So depending on why you left in the first place, you’ll probably just leave again lol. Personally i came back after some 1 or 2 years away from it when HoT came out, and even now i only play roughly 1-2 hours on it, mainly to do my dailies since you get 2g from it. The best part of gw and gw2 though is no monthly fee!! So even if you wanna take 5 years off you can still come back and play without repaying a dime. What i reccommend is play, just do it casually a few times a week will do or 30 minutes everyday.

Skritt Hit wintersday daily?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Odin the exiled.5764

Odin the exiled.5764

Skrit hit worked 100% in LA, for a few reasons. You had actual skritt snowballers!!! The escort was long and had spots where you could ONLY protect the dolyak with snowballs as there was skritt up on platforms out of reach of “kick” So if you want to improve this, ADD skritt snowballers, ADD some skritt up high out of kick range. Imo wintersday worked much better in LA then it ever did in divinty’s.

Like others have mentioned it takes awhile to do it in the festival area since we hit players more then the skritt or when you have a skritt lined up and no one in the way, then someone comes and kicks it out of the way. It’s too costly to fund the dolyak escort alone just to do this daily and then fail the escort since you can’t protect the dolyak fast enough by throwing snowballs.

Also can fix the skritt from tyria to be effected more by the snowballs. As it is now certain skritt work for some ppl but not others. Like for me, i cannot get any of the skritt in brisbane to work for me. The skritt in the cave in lornar’s only 1 in 10 snowballs actually hit them. The only ones that work for me, is in timberline falls, near the stormjkcvald whatever wp in the middle of the map. Where you go into the cave and you stand back from the drunk skritt use the snowball package, then take aim and pelt them. Depends on which drunk skritt i use but some you need to aim way past them to combat the up’s and downs of the cave floor, but generally i can get the 10 hits done in 2 snowball packages now that i’ve been doing it for awhile.

. As for the “insult’s caused by pvp” that’s so not entirely true. I see cursing and insults all the time in pve maps lol. Example Player 1 where is today’s daily jp located. Player 2 Kitten off and learn the game. Or another is during meta’s specially when they fail so using that as an excuse is a cop out.

Why A New Race Is Highly Possible [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Odin the exiled.5764

Odin the exiled.5764

I can see the cost for somethings stopping them but not others. Like the voice actors, you have soo many players out there, i’m sure they would freely lend their voices to do characters. I know i would. If i knew how to code i’d volunteer my free time into the design of the race aswell to help cut down on costs.

As for the home city part, that would depend on the race. I mean like tengu techincally have a corner of LA ( i remember them killing me when i got too close to their door). And if you use tengu for example and wanted to give them a starting map, they could just use Caledon Forest, afterall there are some tengu there. . Also you could always take a shortcut for them too and just make the new races home city be instanced, thus not needing to actually add it to the map.

Personal story wise, could do the level breakdown every 10 like they are now, or if the new race started at 80, can just add them then too. I Know lots of ppl who got their toons to 80, did the dungeon stories THEN did their personal stories (granted when they did that, they whined about the wp costs lol)

As for this armor refitting stuff, they already took short cut’s on that with some races, like asura some female/male armors are exact same. Norn’s just use bigger size human clothes. So they can take some short cuts here too and wouldnt need to revamp all the armor just some. I can see Kodan’s using norn size human clothes for example. Grawl using smaller Charr clothes. Still take awhile but not aslong without short cuts.

But im also fine without a new race. Afterall, it’ll be boring after the first time, that’s just gonna get rushed through and forgotten about.

Skritt Hit.

Odin the exiled.5764

I used the drunk skritt in timberline stormakji wp (something like that). Had to stand far back, open some snowball’s and start throwing. Found they were easier to hit then some of the other skritt, like in lornar’s. where your snowball tends to 99% miss the skritt no matter where you put the aoe circle lol

I do wish they’d just add skritt snowball fighters in Divinty’s though, we used to have them in LA when the event was there i believe.

Why not just ONE Guild?

Odin the exiled.5764

When GW2 first came out, id agree with you Op, since it promoted guild hopping, and not being loyal to a guild. That’s where gw1 guild and allaince was much better. Now with that said 4 years later and we have now cross guild chat ability. The current system is now superior to what we had in gw1, since you can still be loyal to your guild, and still join others, specially if your looking for an aspect your main guild your loyal to doesnt do. Now it’s like your own personal alliance which is awesome. The one thing i laugh about now with this new system, is guilds that still “force” a 100% rep rule, there is 0 need for it now, since aslong as i have that guild’s chat selected i can still see and respond to them there shouldnt be a problem.

Wait times for Wintersday Event

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Odin the exiled.5764

Odin the exiled.5764

I agree with you op, the wait times specially for the jp are horrible since a lot of players are in there farming it compares to the other 2. A few attempts is all it should take to get in, not 10 minutes of constantly entering only to be rejected by it being “full” Personally i find ever since they moved this stuff to divinty’s is when it’s gotten bad. Never had this issue when it was first in LA.

As for the wisps, i say go for it. I have no problem doing the jp on my giant norn, a few tries and i’ll have it finished. So making others a wisp doesnt bother me but i know it would help a lot of others and don’t really see a negative to doing it. The only time i fail my jumps is from the invisible boxes around snowflakes. I can make the same jump from same spot 80% of the time, but there are those odd times my giant norn feet clip the invisble box and prevent me from making it. I don’t let it get to me and just try again. So im all for them making it easier with wisps if it helps someone else. Afterall if i wanted a jp challenge i’d go do an actual jp not a festival one

I know we have some bulk recipes but can we just get something that allows us to Save a recipe, so we can then just choose it and make it in bulk? I mean i just made 95 charged lodestones and double clicking on those 4 items 95 times was mind numbing

Even if it was temporary when we made 1 lodestone, if it then asked how many more would you like to make then reset next time you went to use it would be really nice. I’m not a huge mystic forge person like some players but when i do use it to make items like that it’s just very tedious specially with how long it takes to double click on everything.

Odin the exiled.5764

The only negative thing about dulfy that i see is some of their content is outdated and needs to be updated. The one that comes to mind is guild trek, since anet changed names of 1 or 2 places, and scrolling through the comments of it to find what it used to be is time consuming. And to be honest it’s not even that negative of a thing lol

Only other issue i had with a guide was the mawdrey the layout of it just confused me at first but wiki sorted it out for me, which then made the guide make more sense to me too.

But as for spoilers, it’s pretty obvious what is and isnt a spoiler so if you don’t want anything ruined, just simply don’t click on it. I know for me, im at the point in my gaming i just don’t give a hoot about achievements being spoiled and don’t have endless time to figure them out so i’ll click that guide button 100% everytime. And i avoid any possible spoilers to the story, then once story is done, then go back and read them

So go ahead and use any guide site they are amazing!!

Can run them all full zerk too and not really have any issues. I do find my ranger handles the raptor pack better when trying to run through them then my mesmer. And the necro is easy to run past them too since you have shroud for more HP.

Pre Cursor crafting is a joke!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Odin the exiled.5764

yes it is a joke but it serves a function. For those casual players that don’t earn a bazillion gold a month crafting it is cheaper providing you don’t mind how long it will take to remain “close to free” But if your a person who can’t wait wants it now and thus buys all the materials to craft then in 90% of cases it will be more money. The key thing to remember is that it’s meant to be a journey not an easy button.

Like for me I’m doing the legend I’m stuck on needing like 1500 elder planks, i’m not gonna buy them but farm them however I only do the 2 elder clusters on 1 toon so I know it’ll take me forever to get it made. I’m fine with that cuz id much rather spend my gold on something else. Now with that said, I will buy the cheap pre’s and only craft the $$$ ones.

yeah there are too many different kinds of loot bags but you are supposed to open them not save them lol.

Yeah adding in toys/instruments/endless tonics to wardrobe would be really nice too since they do take up way too much space. My main already has full inventory and i think i have boughten 4 or 5 extra bank panes aswell and it’s not enough room for the important stuff when our fun gadgets take up those spaces too.

More Inventory/Wallet/Material space

If your gonna add ANOTHER item to hold onto, at least let it go into wallet or material space. It’s bad enough trying to collect enough petrified wood/blood rubies but now we have another item to collect aswell. Not to mention a portal stone to go to the egg chamber that’s taking up space now too. Right now it seems each LW chapter you do add’s a new one, so start adding them to where they belong. Same goes with all those key’s just from HoT expansion could easily just slap them into the wallet

Poll to remove Daily Achivement Cap?

I used to be one of those daily achievement seekers elitist achievement hunters back when it’d take you 3-6 hours to do ALL pvp, wvw, pve dailies. Was soooo glad when they changed it to the format that it is now. much rather spend 15minutes to get my 10 points then hours and hours to get 11. As for the cap, who cares really. You don’t get a prize for being #1 and the sooner i realized that the sooner i started to actually enjoy the game by doing whatever i wanted on it with my time. IF anything your better off trying to get them to re-add monthlies which im sure they can connect it to the 28 day log in. I know i loved doing monthlies far more then i ever did with dailies.

Legendary Armor and Raids

Still pretty ugly in my opinion and a waste of time to get. Looks better then the pre of it but not by much. Sure the animation of it was cool but when your just staring at the back of your toon when you go into combat it really makes no difference.

As for it being tied to raids not that big of a deal. Sure it would be nice to get it in another way specially for those that either have no interest in raids (like me) or are just not that good with the game (30% of player based on my experience)

GW2 should allow 0 cooldown on weapon swaps

Odin the exiled.5764

even with a 1-3 second cooldown, your dps rotation will be basically the same since you only have 2 weapons, specially if your goal is to have a similar fun eng/ele rotation. Better option would just be add more weapons to swap with at one time. There’s only a few classes that exactly use F1-4 so it would be harder on those ones to add in a few more weapon swaps. But for like warrior or thief it would be easy.

havent checked this in a while and i see the last anet employee to reply a month ago mentioned they’re gonna add a bank at the start of each borderland? How is that gonna help lol. I can go to a keep for one. How am i supposed to turn my logs or ore into planks and ingots that i’ve farmed in wvw? If i leave to do it, then i don’t go back for the night, where when i was crafting in wvw i’d go back to roaming or defending. Removing them when it’s just 1 map that had them just seems silly, specially in the 4 years i’ve been playing wvw more players play in EB or karma train the other maps then do their own lol. Just doesn’t make sense removing them, specially since no viable solution has been provided lol.

A simpler solution use them on key farmers lol. OR anet adds an NPC where you can trade them in to get a new stackable version,

Remove Downed State

Odin the exiled.5764

It would be silly to remove it in any of the game mode’s. For WvW and PvP it helps balance out the fights specially in x vs. x #players, specially since you can’t rez the dead while in combat in wvw. Then for PvE removing it there would mean more deaths at meta bosses, specially for like Golem where you only have a few seconds to get out of the electric field b4 being downed. However it is anet they do silly things like remove crafting from wvw for a make believe reason lol

Engineer: Why no quick swap for weapons?

Would love if they changed it, but i know they never will cuz of balance. And it wouldn’t be right for them to change it for pve you could swapp but wvw/pvp you couldn’t. The whole thing with eng and ele’s is you need to work on your brain and finger speed. They’re not really lazy classes, like many others are. They’re about swapping constantly and moving. I know im getting too old to play them properly, specially for pvp and wvw lol

Build template

Odin the exiled.5764

I’m sure one day they will. The more they change the trait/build page, the easier it becomes for them to add this. When the game was first launched we had to pay silver to reset our builds. Your build didnt switch from pve to wvw like they do now. It’ll just take them awhile, just like everything else did.

As for buying more bank space/bag space, it’d probly just be cheaper to buy a new toon slot, and let that one have 1-3 builds so your not overloading your main toon with 100’s of builds and the gear for it.

The thing is, Odin, the HoT story hasn’t ended. We broke off with no resolution, no aftermath, and stuff about to happen with the egg. That’s all in the HoT maps. The GW2 story is far from narratively perfect but they really can’t just abandon the HoT area situation to bring everything back to core lands at this point.

They kind of can lol Core gamer’s can use guild halls after all. I do get it though, and all things they eventually figure out with HoT will serve them for better expansions in the future. So the sooner they get it figured out the sooner we can get back to the story and the other dragons, specially bubbles.

I’m kind of like Gwilym, I don’t like HoT map’s just the same as i did not like silverwastes or dry top. I can’t stand this structured meta map garbage so i rarely do them or only do them when i need to. Which is part of the direction that has changed since launch.

I’m not trying to get rid of HoT, i understand it’s a stepping stone to help them be able to make better expansions in the future. Which they have made things better overtime. It’s just it takes them too long to figure things out. The problem with HoT is that it’s more of a $10 expansion pack then a 50—100 expansion. And the fact they keep changing the direction of the game isnt helping. We’ve gone through how many drafts of fractals? They changed the build trait/spec things at least once or twice b4 HoT’s final version. Which will probly change again when they do another expansion. Going with this buy the latest Copy of the game and get rest free, is just gonna make me wait til the very last expansion comes out to get all the rest for 1 low low price instead of paying $50 each time. Since as players we can run the content much faster then they can create. I’m positive that with the HoT experience they will do a better job in the future (i hope lol)

To be honest. LW story 3 should not even be tied into if you have HoT. We already killed the evil dragon in HoT, the land is saved. LW story 3 like all other LW stories should be core based. You can add in fun choices for it to try to get players to buy HoT but it should not be a requirement.

As for mike saying they want a pattern they don’t break from, they have broke from every pattern they ever set going back to gw1. Remember the every 6 months we’ll have a new campaign? It was longer then 6 months lol The closest one was Nightfalls lol. Then when they created Eye of the North went from being a campaign to an expansion. Then they stopped on that and took 3 years to make gw2 and shipped it rushed and unfinished. And during that time, they added in Winds of change and the other one to keep us interested to buy time til gw2 came out.

Locking GMs out of their own guilds because they’ve shown fiscal responsibility and sound judgment isn’t a good thing.

That, or making a costly but fun addition to guilds that people want warrants a certain price-tag.

There’s lot’s of opinions around that propose they “need” a certain thing in the game, and because they decided they need it the game developer needs to give it to them for free. It’s pretty ridiculous. If you want a certain feature in the game, you need to support the developer and pay for that feature.

A proposal could be that the gemstore contains a Guild Initiative Pass that unlocks those functionalities for your account, without making you buy HoT I suppose. But that almost sets open the avenue that you would be able to do that with any parts of the expansion that you want without needing to pay for those that you don’t want. (Seems like a huge waste of effort to me, but it’s an idea)

We have supported them in the past. Like many gw1 players we have bought all the outfits back then, which helped give them funds to launch gw2. And what did that get us, a rushed and unfinished GW2, which in my opinion the core game still feels unfinished. More finished then 4 years ago of course lol. I have bought the expansion based on how GW1 campaigns and it’s official expansion were jammed pack with content. Got HoT and meh i regret it, was a let down. It has put a damper on if i’ll ever buy another expansion.

I do like your proposal and i can see them doing something similar, or eventually just letting the expansion itself be bought for gems. Or allowing the basic expansion upgraded to a digital deluxe upgrade, like the orginal game is.
