gw2lfg for dungeons…
all i see on gw2lfg are level 80’s.
I’m checking gw2lfg.com right now and see a fractals lvl 1 group “Anyone and everyone is welcome” tag. What dungeon are you wanting to run? Gw2lfg usually doesn’t specify lvls, if you are high enough to access the dungeon you’ll be welcome in any group that doesn’t specifically designate they want lvl 80s only.
I normally don’t like “third party bs” either, but gw2lfg.com works extremely well. It hooks you up with cross server dungeon groups that fill really fast. You should really give it a chance, it’s changed the game for me.
One word Sheepnodes! Cooks harvest meat off of Cows. Where’s my sheep at! Or spiderweb nodes for silk/goss. A fourth crafting tool “Arachnid Nippleclips” to milk spiders for their silk/goss thread. Maybe some hemp nodes, you know those skritt have been growing it.
You might could test this with alts. Using something that doesn’t sell often.
Edit, err I guess you’d have to use two separate accounts.

Just seeing the mighty feared Zhaitan get instaowned and flail around crying was decent enough reward on it’s own. :P
And then Thackery gift wrapped me a sword he found in his couch cussions. lol, whut. Thack needs checked out he has a concussion.
Would be cool maybe a zhaitan cape? Maybe a cape made from his scales as your reward. Could work.
That’s what I always hope for in games with rpg elements. Crafting something from the remains of a defeated monster or claiming a weapon or piece of armor from them.
Does Thackery have a bday coming up? Think I might regift this berserker’s axe with a minor sigil. I vendor these all day and they gift wrapped three of em for me? blah
Love the game, but three greens (worth 6s) and a horn, from trading the pact token, that doesn’t pulse once equipped like it does when previewed. I was expecting something a little more epic for completing the game.
Zhaitan looked great tho, it was fun. Can I make some boots out of one of his faces or something tho? His horns would make a pretty sweet horn can I get one of those or does Zojja have dibs? lol
(edited by Olfinbedwere.5049)
The horn I traded from Quartermaster Hargrove with the Pact Victory Token, the Pact Herald of Force, doesn’t pulse like it does when I preview it before trading.
Would it be better if all players were locked out of WvW for two hours after every patch? That would give everybody time to get logged back in and ready.
It is pretty annoying I would love an option to disable it popping up.
Truly powerful unique weapons and items are often the center of great fantasy literature. Every kid that read the hobbit wished they had a ring that would turn them invisible.
Everyone that’s ever created a character in an MMO has wished their character could get hold of a weapon as powerful as Excalibur or Bilbo’s ring.
MMOs do not traditionally have such powerful items because they would imbalance the game. But it could work if it were for a limited time. Like Bilbo’s ring truly powerful items attract the attention of dark forces hungry for power. No character would be able to hold on to it for too long before the item changed hands.
In game mechanics players could perform an achievement like finishing a dungeon that would add their name to a pool. One character would be chosen from the pool every week to have the item dropped into their loot table. After the character has logged 8 hours game time with the item it slips from their grasp and returns to the pool for the next weeks drawing. Leaving them with a title like “ring bearer”.
Many different types of items could be added to different achievements. Players would complete the achievements that gave them a shot at the items they wanted every week to put their name in the pool.

It’s like in slasher movies. When the slasher is right behind them they seem to run so slow. lol I don’t like it either but it’s better than giving every mob a snare/stun or something. I don’t think they want us to be able to blow past hordes of mobs loot/mine and jet out again. It’s what everybody does anyway, now that mobs don’t drop loot, there’s no reason to kill them.
1. People mostly come to forums for the purpose of making a complaint/request. That’s kind of what forums are for.
2. The game is great and people love it. If they didn’t love it they wouldn’t bother complaining. When the infamous Star Wars Galaxies combat upgrade destroyed that game people freaked out because they loved it. If we didn’t love it we wouldn’t care that it had problems, and wouldn’t waste our time voicing them. So you can count every complaint as affirmations that people love the game.
Illumination is great. There are also other ways to get dyes. You can buy packs from the gem store, buy unidentified dyes for around 11s, craft them from the cook craft, there is a chance to harvest them when harvesting cooking nodes like carrots/potatos/etc. I get an unidentified dye about every 15 or 20 harvests.
Here is what illumination looks like on my medium armor.

The price of keeping gold spam down is that occasionally someone that isn’t selling gold gets banned for a couple days until it’s sorted out. In my opinion that’s not too high a price to pay if one in a thousand is innocent and it gets fixed.
Is there a definition somewhere describing exactly what constitutes an Exploit?
Wiki defines an exploit as : “An exploit, in video games, is the use of a bug or glitches, rates, hit boxes, or speed, etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game’s designers.”
I think it’s obvious the GW2 designers intend us to craft rares and salvage them for ectos. They didn’t intend that the recipe cost only one gem. Mistakes happen, but the fault lies entirely with the programmer that built this recipe.
We should get off the precious metals system and adopt potatoes as our currency. At the end of the day potatoes are worth more than gold. Stranded on a desert island with a sack of gold and it’s worthless, but a sack of potatoes is lunch.

I think he was just hoping to manipulate the market and failed. His are still up there and others undercutting him down to 3s.
Yeah it’s a 9 gold listing fee. That’s a lot to pay for lols. I’ve had a theory for a while (get your tin foil hats ready) that Anet has a Tp bot that posts and purchases items based on whatever criteria they’ve programmed into it to influence their market. A lot of times there are purchase orders for seemingly worthless items. I think their bot places purchase orders for things to influence the market and make crafting viable.
On open-PvE there is no point running anything defensive when enemies deal so low damage.
OP was complaining about glass in dungeons.
Olfinbedwere.5049And some people are too lazy to respec for dungeon groups.
No matter the game there will always be hackers, bots, ect. to make a wild statement that FFA as a thing of the past is not true, FFA games are out there but the problem is no AAA MMO has implemented FFA for reasons unknown, my guess they are just chasing fast and easy money and following the blueprints that games like WoW laid out and for good reason, it works as a fool proof plain.
The true FFA of the past was only fun before rampant hacking set in. And became even less fun when MMOs started allowing multiboxers and you end up facing off against a player with 5 times the focused dps of any other single player. Any MMOs that cracked down hard enough on hacking still had multiboxers ruining the fun.
GW2 can’t seem to get rid of it’s teleport hackers, and almost all MMOs condone multiboxing. I enjoyed old school FFA but it doesn’t work with rampant hacking and multiboxers. I stand by it, I think true FFA is dead, unless you enjoy testing your hacking skills or multiboxing skills it just isn’t fun anymore.
Ah I see, thank you. I misunderstood sort of, I thought you meant that the more damage you do the greater the value of loot approaching 100% damage dealt. That makes sense though even though I had never read the exact quote. No one can just come skipping up to say a World Dragon and poke him once before he dies and expect a share, at least from all I’ve so far observed. If the previous was the case it would put a whole new spin on the “Glass Cannon” argument though wouldn’t it, heh.
Dragons don’t drop loot , it’s event participation that determines chest eligibility. Don’t ask me what all counts as event participation tho. I’ve never risked just attacking Ice Shards during Jormag’s Claw but I assume players that do concentrate on them still get chest loot.
It’s more a matter of normal mob loot rewards and how fast one or two people can burn down a mob, with two glass cannons, a nonglasscannon is often lucky to get a tag in, which isn’t usually enough to win loot eligibility.
When it comes down to only having time to get one or two hits on a mob before it’s burned down those two hits have to equal or exceed 10% of the mobs total health, and glass cannons become the only viable build if you’re interested in loot. I can’t imagine how healer/support builds manage to get any loot, the poor kittens.
Because pve loot is partially calculated by dmg dealt. If you can’t dump enough dmg on something before it’s down you get no loot. Glass cannons probably get twice as much loot as everybody else. And some people are too lazy to respec for dungeon groups.
Whoa, really? Seriously, not attempting to cast any doubt, I’ve just never heard that before. Where did you hear this?
From the Wiki http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Loot
“Each player who participates in killing a monster will have the opportunity to loot the body. Each monster has a damage table and a threshold value of damage done to it by the player before it will give full credit for the kill. This value is about 5% to 10% of the monster’s health.1 The loot dropped is unique to the player, and loot received by one player does not affect what another player receives. One monster may drop the same rare item for multiple players.”
I believe it’s taken from a quote from Eric Flannum. If you don’t land enough dmg (5-10% of the mobs health) I’m betting it’s closer to 10%, you don’t get loot.

Class Name: Dwarf
Class Type: Dwarf
Armor Type: Heavy
Weapons of choice: Two-Handed Axes, Shovels, Spewing Ale, Dwarven Songs
General gist/ miscellaneous: It would be the only class that is restricted by race and the only race that is restricted to one class. Their skills would include, chopping things and diggying holes, drinking, and singing about the time when there used to be hoards of loot in this game.
Because pve loot is partially calculated by dmg dealt. If you can’t dump enough dmg on something before it’s down you get no loot. Glass cannons probably get twice as much loot as everybody else. And some people are too lazy to respec for dungeon groups.
This game is took hacker friendly for FFA. FFA only works if there are no cheaters. Teleporting bots on every corner of the map. Plus all the multiboxers we have now, FFA is a thing of the past.
will it loose the particle effects if you transmute only stats?
I believe it keeps it’s particle effects.

+1 There were a couple players composing songs in LA the other day and it was pretty cool. It adds an extra layer of depth to the game for sure.
They are offering a product depending on one time payment for aquisition with the option to add further small payments where you excahnge money directly for virtual goods.
You can not compare that to the complex credit process with interest etc. You mentioned it yourself- you did paperwork and a simple credit check.
Now multiply that for several million players, add security meassures against scammers and gold sellers. I still don’t see the problem of charging your mastercard for it if you want a credit for a virtual good.
Well, why do electronics, furniture, car dealers and others offer their own credit and why do people so often take them up on that offer? It’s because they’re usually able to offer better interest rates and incentives. Could you imagine somebody charging a car on their MasterCard?
Every one of us did Electronic “paperwork” when we registered for the game and when we purchase gems from the gem store, it wouldn’t be any different for a credit approval. They could probably even go through a third party credit service and not have to worry about how it works at all.
The idea was just a suggestion I made, originally in the suggestions forum, after calculating how much I’d have to spend on gems to buy a legendary off the TP and thinking to myself, too bad I can’t buy that and pay it out over time. I don’t think there’s any doubt that Anet would benefit from such a feature.
EDIT: And I doubt “several million” players would use the feature, but if that many did Anet would make a mint.

Like character customization it would be great to have weapons customization. Along with working towards a particular weapon skin players could work towards unlocking weapon features.
Standard Sliders : Like in character creation players could choose longer or shorter blades like choosing longer or shorter Asuran ears and other similar sliders.
Color and Texture patterns : Could be unlocked through questing and/or use a system like dyes for armor.
Effects : Players could unlock effects to add to a personalized weapon. Like the blue glow ghost effect could be purchased with Ascalonian Tears and then would be unlocked in a player’s weapon customization window. .
Spell Effects : Like the rainbow arrows from the legendary longbow spell effects could be unlocked and customizeable.
This could all be done through weapons customization kits like the cosmetic kits in the gem store. Or there could be a legendary items customization tab in the Hero panel like the armor dye tab. It would make legendary items even more legendary and even more unique.
Or the feature could be used for all weapons with restrictions based on effect type ranging from common, rare, exotic, and legendary textures and effects that could only be applied to weapons of a similar rarity. So that players without legendaries could still benefit from the feature.

…, how do you think such a system would work? GW2 is a game that is shipped worldwide. So you are suggesting a credit system operated by a gaming company that should span the whole world?
I believe GW2 is currently available to America, Europe, Australia & New Zealand, Africa, and the Middle East. The credit laws for these countries aren’t that dissimilar. They mostly require the disclosure of interest rates, fees, commissions, obligations, the annual percentage rate of charge or, failing that, the total amount that the consumer must pay for credit.
I believe African credit lenders have slightly more requirements in that they must assess consumers’ ability to repay before granting credit. I believe that simply requires lenders run a credit check before lending which is fairly simple.
ArenaNet ultimately would have to make the decision whether to offer credit to players from every country or only select countries depending on the credit laws of those countries. Online games have tackled global market difficulties before and often offered different services or altered products to the different markets this would be no different. ANet execs would have to weigh possible revenue from such a service vs. the cost of implementing it. I believe the revenue would be substantial.
…did you ever go through the process to aquire a credit at a bank? Or even when you bought that 400€ tv on rates? And you want to offer that to several million players with different currencies?
It was a pretty simple credit check and signing of paperwork last time I bought something with in-store credit. It wasn’t that big of a deal. It’s obvious ArenaNet is capable of offering a service and a product to several million players with different currencies and different laws or they wouldn’t have been able to launch the game in those countries.
That’s not true and you know it. Even if you don’t have much luck farming, you can still at least farm gold for those things.
I earn about 2g a day playing and in 700 days I could have 1400g, but that’s two years and in two years legendaries are going to cost 2400g if not more. There is no way a casual player could keep up with this game’s inflation.
Because it’s a dick move, and most companies doing so are rightfully criticized for it. Car companies get big protests because their loans are unfair, and walmart loans are hurting families because people will overspend on necessary things. They both also further customer loyalty and work towards targeted spam. Very, very bad ideas. Those things hardly exist in the sane world (Europe).
Some people in the world are just stupid, but that’s no excuse to restrict access to services for the rest of us. I’d back you up on suggesting people should have to take home economics classes from middle school through high school so they could make educated decisions throughout their adult lives, but I can’t back you up on suggesting credit is bad for everybody on the basis that some people are dumb. And ultimately people don’t have to use credit if they don’t want to. Plus, as you suggested, people can use their credit cards now to purchase gems at what I’m sure would be a much higher interest rate than ArenaNet would be able to offer.
So you suggest a model where someone pays 120 dollars a month for a year. Like that’s not more than they should be able to pay back? You do realize the only people who’ll do this are actually the people who can’t and shouldn’t buy stuff that costs 9000 dollars?
They could offer 0% interest and stretch it out over 2 years, that’d be about $50 a month. A lot of people probably already spend more than that.
How about a 16yo stealing their mom’s credit card and overcharging it for a stupid sword?
Kids can steal their mother’s credit cards now and overcharge it for a stupid sword. If you call MasterCard and tell them that happened they’ll file charges against your child. If ArenaNet offered credit and this extremely rare incident occurred I’m absolutely sure they could easily track the purchase, recover the gold/item lock the account and cancel the balance, a much better solution than you’ll get from any credit card company. And what’s stopping a kid from stealing a card running it up $50 at a time for gems now? Nothing. My suggestion wouldn’t create this problem, it would create a better avenue to solve the problem without having to bring criminal charges against someone’s kid.
+1 but I think they limited it on purpose. I don’t think their are any items that offer healing power, toughness, vitality. Probably because this combination would be difficult to balance. A full HP, T, V build would end up being an unkillable juggernaut and dungeon bosses would have to be adjusted to account for them and they already hit hard enough to one or two-shot anybody that didn’t build for toughness/vitality. Players would be forced into HP, T, V builds or they wouldn’t last a second in a dungeon.
Those who will never see 1400 can still get a legendary by playing the game. Almost everyone can get one sooner or later, and the cheaper ones are no more than 600 which can be bought in increments (precursor, lodestones, recipes)
Purchasing gems and trading them for gold is as valid a route to a legendary as any other route. If it wasn’t we wouldn’t have an exchange rate, and you wouldn’t be able to sell them on the TP. I’ve killed sparks and Jormag’s claw ele’s until my eyes bled and never saw a single lodestone drop. Not everyone will get a legendary “sooner or later” this game is too heavily governed by an RNG.
That being said, the option already exists. No one forbids you from taking out a loan or overcharging your credit card to buy gems. That’s between you and your bank company.
Most companies that offer high dollar items, electronics stores, furniture stores, the automotive industry, offer their own credit. They would also be able to offer lower interest rates than most credit cards. ArenaNet would take a much lower risk by offering credit in that there is no physical property to repossess if someone were to default. It would be a smart business move on their part. Why should credit card companies make money off of purchases from ArenaNet instead of them offering credit themselves?
Don’t spend money you don’t have! Every man knows there’s only 1 thing that merits a private loan and that’s the house you intend to live in for the rest of your life.
Credit is fine so long as a person doesn’t accept more credit than they can afford to pay back. The world’s current economic crisis is because of people’s purchase of homes on credit, and not because they took credit, but because they took more credit than they could afford to pay back.
Legendary items currently on the trading post cost around 1400 gold. With the current ~ 100 gems to 1.45 gold exchange rate and with 4000 gems costing $50.00 it comes to $1250.00 for enough gems to purchase a legendary.
It would be nice to have a Black Lion Credit service with the option to purchase this many gems on credit and pay it off over several months. $1250 worth of gems, at 15% interest, could be paid off over 12 months at ~ $120 a month.
This would help those players, which through regular gameplay will never see 1400 gold, acquire a legendary. Thanks for your time and consideration and for a fun and beautiful game.
I noticed it too.
I would be happy if there were a consumable one hour anti-DR token or %1000 MF dragon pies in the gem store. I’d open my wallet to get back the drop rate we saw prenerf please.
Sweet! It is a really nice feature. Sending it get well soon cards!
The Hero feature from GW1 was great and allowed players to attempt dungeons that couldn’t muster a full group. Would love to see that for GW2.
Is that the business model? I spent some gems on a wintersday mystery box and got some sweaters, socks, hats and 2 mortars. I feel exactly like I felt last time I played the slots in Vegas.
I was hoping to get a mini from the wintersday box but I’m not a gambling addict, so there’s no way I’m going to throw RL money at it hoping a RNG will spit out a mini. If there were a minis pack like there was at halloween I’d get some. If Anet wanted to make X dollars per mini, then why not just put the minis up for X dollars instead of leaving it up to a RNG. The wintersday box doesn’t make sense maybe I’m just not getting it.
A countdown timer in the daily window would be really nice.
They are amazing, I was truly blown away by the jumping puzzle event. I love that you can go to the side of the ring while you’re waiting and watch people that haven’t fallen yet. Or you can throw snowballs at people waiting, but if you’re at the side looking down you don’t get griefed by snowballers. That small bit of foresight and consideration is really a big deal.
Plus when I was looking
up in the jumping puzzle arena and seeing that we’re inside the snowglobe in Lion’s Arch was pretty mindblowing!
Amazing work, this game is an artistic masterpiece. Now fix the droprate srsly.

… just try finding another group. …
He’d already wasted half an hour of his time and ~ half an hour of everybody else in the group’s time. That’s two and a half total hours players spent standing there spamming LFM. Not counting the time it takes them to fill his vacant spot, hoping the person that fills the spot doesn’t end up in the same situation.
This one problem that’s been around since launch created a bad experience for a potentially very large number of players. Because only one person in five has to be affected by it to ruin the game session for everybody. His complaint is valid your find another group solution is not.
