I was iffy on the megaserver thing until yesterday. Went to Ulgoth, playing my guardian traited for damage, ascended weapons, food buffs for extra power. Attack first champ dog, no loot. Second dog, no loot. Third dog, same. Used to get champ bags from these. Attack Ulgoth and get a champ bag from him, but for the first time this week. When I put “No loot?” in map chat, everyone says, “You didn’t do enough damage.”
What the heck?!? I cycled through all my skills with both weapon sets- there was literally no way for me to do more damage playing that toon. Simply tagging (which I always hated) does not guarantee any loot. “Join a party” should not make a difference, as a Dev said here last year on a post that being in a party or not should not effect your loot. So now we ARE competing for drops, which is completely against the manifesto Anet championed at release. Worse, I’m a lvl 80 down-leveled for the zone. What about someone playing a toon at the level of the map with map-level weapons? If I’m not getting loot, they certainly can’t be.
They’ve removed those loots. I’ve never ever gotten champ from the dogs after feature pack and I farm worldbosses on a daily basis. Even so I’ve gone more into DPS after the patch too so it’s impossible I’ve done too little damage on those events.
Ok so now I have played for over a week and I can absolutely say Megaservers have alot more pros than cons. Even so, it’s a great feature for newbies. The game feels alot more alive and wherever I go there’s always someone there.
But this is my major dislikes about the Megaserver.
Nodes
I can’t longer farm my orichalcum ore and ancient wood and since I’m limited to around 50 per character per day I find it not worth it at all. I’m satisfied about nodes being randomized but make it same location on every mapversion.
MEGA-Bosses
Organized zergs is no longer existing. I play on Desolation and we killed Tequatl every time it spawned before Megaserver. Today I gave it a chance and we killed him at 10 sec left on timer. It’s now all about luck and not organisation.
We had a little community on Desolation and it was a joyful moment with people chattering about whatnot in mapchat along with the standard strategies. Now it’s a hateful chat with people calling each other words. It’s chaos. I don’t know but I don’t feel like adding 150 people from old-Desolation to friends and then to get on a mapversion and then kill Teq since in my guild we don’t do worldbosses together. If Megaservers ain’t getting a big change regarding this. Zerg bosses like Tequatl and Jungle Wurm can’t work. Instead create instanced mega-bosses.
Nothing hasn’t actually changed regarding transmution only that it has been revamped and made easier to customize a look. You can easily acquire charges trough pvp or as you said exploration. Before the feature pack I’d transmute my gear only when I felt this is the final look along with the stats.
If you are so desperate on changing your cosmetics, I have full faith in that if you truly want to get those charges, you’ll succeed. Don’t waste them every tenth lvl on your thief. Wait until you get to 80 then start to experiment with your looks. Constantly changing your look is a luxury. It was before feature pack and it still is.
So you have two FREE options, either do some world exploration or do PvP.
Oh holy potatoes! How comes I’ve not found this thread until now? :O
I absolutely adore mixed sets, frankly I spend like at least 1/3 of my gametime combining different armour-sets into outfits. And forums-threads likes this makes it all soo much funnier!Hurrah for in game fashion!! <3
Here’s one of my recent outfits I made for my necromander:
Hat: Aetherblade-light-set
Shoulders: Masquerade-set
Chest: Phoenix-set
Skirt: Masqurade-set
Gloves: Aetherblade-light-set
Boots: Cabalist setThe dyes are dark rose, marine and some simular, but a little bit lighter shades that I do not currently remember the name of!
I gotta say, that’s a very good looking character Reminds somewhat of Miranda Kerr hehe. Nice job!
Here’s my mesmer, I don’t think I will change the armor ever since I’ve really worked to get a nice looking mix-n-match.
Head: Exalted Masque
Shoulders: Havroun Mantle
Chest: Inquest Vest
Gloves: Aurora Gloves
Leggings: Winged Pants
Boots: Lupine Shoes
The dyes are all simple mixed Celestial and Midnight Fire except the gloves which are Icing.
I actually don’t want to remove the personal story but the devs should put a disclaimer before every PS mission it should pop up a window saying. ‘’This is a historical event, anything outside the instance may have been altered due to the living story’‘. And then you can check in a little box ’’Don’t show this again’’.
Then every PS mission will be an instance only available through PS and on the borders of the instance we can have fog instead of, let’s say the rest of Lion’s Arch or Orr and then the usual red lines in minimap. This would make each instance pretty small in comparison to what it is now(in giga-megabytes). It would require some boring space on harddrive with downloads, but it would be a necessary investment in my opinion.
Trash mobs in dungeons is imo not worth killing. So skipping is a way to not waste time on nothing since the mobs doesn’t drop anything worthwhile the time.
Feedback such as “fire this person” or “get better at writing” are not helpful or useful to us. If you wish to provide constructive criticism and feedback, I strongly recommend reading this thread which details how to give good, constructive feedback that is useful both to the development teams and in discussions here on the forums.
What the forum really benefits from is the CDI threads. I can’t know how often you want a gathered and constructive feedback thread but you should put them up more frequently just for different gametypes in the game such as WvW,PvP,PvE,Dungeons,LS and other things. I love those threads.
To maximize your odds of running into other RP players more often, you’ll want to make sure you’re on the same world (generally TC and Piken are viewed as the RP worlds), and in guilds with other RP members also on that same world. For example, everyone from TC currently will be set to high priority to sort together, same thing goes with people who are all a part of the same guild (so guild up RP folks!)
We’ll continue to monitor, adapt and update the system as we go forward as well, for now I’d suggest seeing how it works once we enable the mega server system across all maps and then giving comments and feedback when you see it in action!
(edited to add Piken!)
I’ve already seen it in action. It was called ‘Connected Realms’ and it caused more problems than it solved. That’s why I’m no longer forking over $15/month to that other company. They destroyed my game with their ‘Connected Realms’…..just as you are doing currently with the ‘Megaserver’.
It’s still a work in progress so when the feauture pack hits the game the 15th only a few zones will be under the controll of the new system, just to test and see how it works out.
I’m guessing the MegaServer system throws a huge wrench into this guide, since you’ll lose the whole aspect of guesting to the best servers for events.
One could say that.
Mimic 4
Absorbs all incoming projectiles within it’s duration. On the use of Echo, you release all the projectiles onto a single target.
Casttime: 4s
Cooldown: 35s-Range: 600
-Damage for a single projectile is whole. Damage for more than one projectile will be halved(1=1, 1+1=1, 1+1+1=1.5, and so on).
That would create too much of a sniper class in wvw when zerging since as soon as you release your mimic you just pop distortion and blink away :p
The PS was poorly written and very repetitive were every mission was you killing an elite or veteran at the end of every single mission. It didn’t show its full potential but even so I feel the LS has alot more things to offer us and also brings the community a lot closer. Comparing pros and cons between LS and PS shows at least an obvious winner for me. And that is LS.
As previously mentioned. Save them for stuff that makes it inconvenient to waypoint back to repair npc. Or in fractals.
This game came out as a non-trinity game and it shall remain so. Even so, the amount of time to balance everything into a trinity style of gameplay would require the game to get a clean slate were they build every proffesion along with stats from the scratch not to mention the impact it would have on pvp and how it is built right now.
Trinity will never ever happen even though I wish the teamwork aspect of it would get more into the game. They only major teamwork right now is ressing downed people and mightstacking. But other than that, the game relies more on you doing a good job on your own rather than teamplayers helping you with regeneration, condi removal and such. Which is a little bit sad but it is a risky approach Anet has taken and I think they’ve done a good job doing so.
I don’t believe that will be so common since the meta for dungeon will always be a DPS build along with zerker armor, trinkets and weapons. It will be too much of a fuzz to keep track on what is most efficient on every boss in every dungeon so if there’s some, excuse my language, douchbags who wants someone who retraits on runs. Just don’t join the group.
Utilities are enough to keep a diverse and efficient run whether you should chose alot of condi removal, blast finishers etc. etc. and as of now I really don’t see alot of people moaning about me as a mesmer to have Mantra of Resolve instead of Null Field as a condi removal. And even so, utilities are far more easier to change than retrait to a whole other build.
No it’s not worth it. At least not in dungeons.
I really don’t get why they had to tie this in with the “tramp train” at all. I very rarely die let alone even get downed. So I am hardly ever paying for repairs anyway. The thing is I don’t do any of these “tramp trains” so saying they are lowering those rewards BECAUSE of the removal of repair costs (as well as other rewards in other parts of the game which may impact on me) is something I am just a bit iffy on. I sence they just want to remove cash in general for some reason…..
Also something else to think about, seriously how many if any that do run the “tramp trains” actually die to have to repair their gear anyways? I doubt any, so again this just seems strange to me to be tied in…
I guess the next thing they will say is that Dungeon rewards are also going to be lowered again due to this change. Oh well, again it wont effect me as I don’t run dungeons but if so I can see an uproar coming to the forums.
Why wouldn’t they put it in the blogpost? Have you done the champ train in frostgorge on desolation? It’s a huge blob and on occasions we even get an overflow. A huge chunk of players are doing something that took Anet hours to create instead of fractals or dungeons which is something that’s gotten more heart into.
They are really putting alot of focus in the game now with this feature pack and WvW season 2 starting tomorrow and still a fair size of playerbase are still running around for hours all but just pushing number ’’1’’ and ’’w’’. Why should the most boring and easiest part of the game also be amongt the most consistent and rewarding? Maybe this will force some players to actually explore the game a bit more and see what more and rewarding stuff it has to offer.
The blogpost in itself isn’t all about free repairs so is it really a bad thing when they are trying to adress everyone affected?
And sure if people still want to run champ train, fine by them. They can do it but why should I who does world bosses, daily fractal and dungeon runs along with orichalcum farm earn almost equal as a champ farmer. It’s ridiculous. But it is all to balance the economy in the game and if that forces something to be nerfed champ train was a great choice. It’s dull, it’s boring and it’s waay too rewarding.
1 Blade Shard + 1 teir1 dust + 1 teri2 dust + 10 sprockets = 10-15 Blade Shards
Correction; it is 50 Sprockets.
People are getting so desperate about Tengu as playable race they really think anything related to Tengu is a hint towards there dream. This is starting to get ridiculous.
I personally don’t think it is nowhere near to be a playable race. Doesn’t add up at all since next season is all about the maguuma and Tengu has nothing related to it. I wouldn’t mind getting more of them into the game but it would just seem forced and illogical to put them as playable in the game before ls season 2 has ended.
ANet does put stuff into the game which would seem to be some sort of hint towards something but is not. The gargoyles are for one example that. They don’t exist anywhere in the game and just seem to have dissapeared. A huge mystery actually. But they show up in the mad king’s labyrinth and Anet’s response to that was something in line with. ‘’Oh we felt like it would be cool’’.
More tengu stuff to game?
-Yes please!!!
Tengu as playable race?
-No for god’s sake!!!
Calm your kittens folks’
Yup I’m experiencing the same thing here too. It all started after the patch from yesterday. I’m playing on Desolation and my character is in Gendarran Fields.
Kindof dangerous to have nothing for 10days
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Ouimette.5902
The only thing dangerous to GW2 right now is ESO. Place is going to be a ghost town in less than a month.
I’ve seen enough of ESO to believe that it will follow SWTOR footstep and be f2p within a year.
On the topic, I don’t think it is going to be that much of an issue. The LS provided us storymaterial for about 1hour every 2 weeks and the rest of the time was to grind for AP and whatever little stuffs that came along with the patch. So the only thing that is going to be gone for some time is the living story zergfarming. I don’t think it will hurt the game that much. There’s still loads of funnier things to do than mindlessly running around zerging. We always have the champtrain to cover up for that.
So for all of those who have been listening to the conversation in The Dead End we found out about Marjory’s sister. So when we talk to her we find out that she is, in about a week, going out to Brisban Wildlands to look for a group of black market traders.
http://i.imgur.com/BHj0cGO.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/VCpuTpW.jpg
My guess is that since she is a seraph it is obviously bandits they are looking for. So where can we find bandits in Brisban? They are scattered around in different places around the northwest area of the map but there’s one place in particularly which stands out a bit. And that is Fort Vandal.
http://i.imgur.com/ON9bObt.jpg
Since she is saying they’re after the headquarters so the fort seems like it would be the place they’re after. It is currently guarded by lvl80 champion bandits so there’s no possible way of getting in there becuase of the downscaling.
But even so, there’s more evidence which tells us this is the place. Now this is even a spoiler for some even though you’ve followed the living story but for those who knows there's actually a visible asura gate inside the fort and a zone portal which leads to the west of Brisban Wildlands
So it seems we’re finally are expanding further into the world.
TL;DR
The seraph sister is looking for black market headquarters and it is most likely Fort Vandal. Along with some other evidence we’re most likely getting new zones west of Brisban Wildlands.
Warrior. Thats it. Do not let any other profession enter ur brain. Warrior.
why, the most forgiving class and the most in demand. Evenn a bad warrior can do ok.. being bad at any other prof will be painful. Then the ele and thief just requires too much skill to be average with. Mesmer and engineer have their own probs too.
Dont get me wrong, a warrior can be even better with skilled operator, but a bad warrior is still ok. Oh and dont even think about the underdog classes of necro or ranger… thats just asking for bad news. Unfortunately this is the way the community attitudes and game has developed.
Unfortunately it is. However it is also the class that in my opinion feels least rewarding when achieving dungeon runs, pvp or whatever.
I could go with the flow and say, roll warrior. It is not as fun to play which some other classes can provide you with, but it is easy. For a more rewarding gameplay and a steep learning curve for improvement, roll an engineer or mesmer.
The hardest class to play for a newbie would be elementalist so stay away from them until you’re more comfortable with the game mechanics.
The next villain will be called Violet, she will look just like Scarlet only with purple hair instead of red.
giggles
Hopefully we’ll get something familiar tied to the maguuma. I don’t care exactly what they do chose but as long as it is better written than Scarlet I’ll be satisifed.
I will just ctrl+c, ctrl+v one of my older threads on how new zones should be added to the game.
“I think many players want new areas to explore in this game whether it is Tyria, Elona or Cantha. The hard thing here for Anet is to give us something new in these new zones without raising the levelcap and still be worth while to explore and spend time in.
I believe this was something they tried to do with Southsun Cove and the result is that that zone isn’t that much worth to be in.(except the karka queen)
Now Guild Wars 2 has one thing common with pretty much every other MMORPG out there and that is grinding.
I’m a pve player and the places I see most players at is in either Queensdale or Frostgorge Sound where they’re champion farming, FotM and people farming worldbosses. Now we can argue pros and cons about things Anet release in LS but it’s quite obvious the champion boxes were a success along with the weapons that can be dropped in those boxes.
So here comes my list with things that would makes new added zones worth playing and exploring without splitting playerbase up too much and still leave the levelcap at 80.
Unique
Make the new zones unique, something that can only be obtainable through that zone. Like the Orr temples vendors armors but also weapons and trinkets. This game needs more models obtainable through pve. The dungeon armors is almost 16 months old now and when we see new sets it’s through the gem shop.
Grinding
The karmagear was easy to get and Anet did explain that they didn’t know people would get that much karma in such a short time. Raise the price for the pieces from 42k karma(Orr prices) to maybe 84k or 126k. Players like to feel unique and legendarys and dungeon armors are more than quite common now and when you see someone with gem shop armor it’s sometimes quite good looking but it’s not hard to get if you have money.
Dailies
An RPG is much about seeing progress through stats and aesthetics and seeing your character developing in generall. But make the new zones have daily events that maybe occurs once or twice that will lead you to a chest which contains a token/tokens for something you want to buy. A slow progress that’s not RnG based. Again this makes the zone unique. However we can at first point agree that this games doesn’t need more currency but with the new wallet system it doesn’t need to be so inconvenient. Say we get to travel in to Dominion of Winds or to a heavily populated Kodan zone. The tokens can represent some sort of honor value of some kind that shows the faction that you’ve helped them which gives it more rpg-feeling to it.
New enemies
I gotta say I loved the karkas. But that’s a personal preference. However this game could use new enemies. Something that ties the enemy to the region. Pretty basic but not as effective as previous suggestions but I always find it quite nice to see new enemies in game whether it is karkas or twisted.
Lore
This game needs more lore for old veteran GW players but still be enjoyable for those who haven’t played the first GW. It’s always nice for the experienced eye to see that they are running around in a world they took their first step into in 2005. Make relics, books or ruins or just a place in generall that might be preserved. This was something, which for some, made Southsun Cove a bit… meh… Just because it came more of a shock. Give the playerbase something we want not something we maybe want.
That’s my opinion regarding adding new zones. Bare in mind that this is something I was thinking could fit in a LS as much as an expansion but since we’re pretty custom with the LS it thought of it out of that perspective."
tl;dr
Make new zones have obtainable stuff such as armor, trinkets and weapons unique to the zone and have them available through things such as meta events, daily events tied to something cool.
(edited by Ouimette.5902)
My mesmer
Has gone through a lot of makover kits but I feel this is a good look.
First 2 pics is the armor atm, but the last one is what I’m aiming for.
The human T3 looks to light to an engineer so I like how the gloves, boots and shoulders fit in. I’m quite content with the look right now.
It didn’t hit me until today but there’s actually a chance we have had a huge lead where the map will open up first in a very long time. One could argue that it is just Anet who leaves doors open for easy development in future patches. But that’s a personal opinion.
But yeah.. there’s actually 2 portals in Brisband Wildlands. One for the more common eye and one more a bit hidden. But either way there still lies a big mystery behind them.
First portal is just a normal one you need to step through to enter a new zone.
http://i.imgur.com/wAQogpv.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/UrIbdBP.jpg
And the other one is one of those asura portals, this is the one more hidden.
http://i.imgur.com/yo1OlZP.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/7nb51pN.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/4vf8pLx.jpg
As I earler mentioned, the first portal can just be something Anet left there due to the fact that it would have been too many zones when the game released, cause that portal has been there for a long time. Maybe not since release and it was something Anet put in the game secretly(?). I actually don’t know, the forum posts that was related to the portal was written ‘’about a year ago’’ and wiki didn’t give me much either.
But now with the conclusion of season 1, these portals actually start to make more sense and zone expansion/s might seem even more possible.
Thoughts?
If the upcoming season of living story is going to be about mordremoth then I assume they’re going to open up some of the maguuma wastes. The map in-game shows a pretty desolate area, mostly rocks and mountain, maybe some influence from Grand Canyon-AZ would be kinda neat.
Out of all my playtime in gw2 a very minor part of that is actually going around and looking at the world. I find it sometimes quite amazing sometimes to see what the devs have created. But nonetheless, a boring zone might be good looking but it would still be boring. I’d like to see the devs trying to implement some more funny mechanics/events than the one in the game at the moment. More meta-events and temple stuff we can find in Orr. That would be cool.
So in the end it’s all about quality>quantity. I really want new zones but they should be worth visiting too
You’ll only miss out on the bossfight which in my opinion is kinda cool along with the music.
Other than that, the story itself kicks in where you can portal in via the backpiece-portal. So you’ll only miss out on the fight I’d say.
Where it goes from here?
Well, certainly not Cantha.
As much as I actually want Cantha in the game. I wouldn’t make any sense whatsoever to implement that in the game right now. My prediction is to actually open up Tyria first and then if we ever will expand into the world it would be Elona first and then Cantha.
… what would you like to see in the Living Story?
Personally I’d like to see all these little mysteries that exist to be taken here, for instance the Floating Castle, I’d absolutely LOVE a living story arc getting into that mystery!
so, any other interesting story you would like to see?
Amongst all the different things Anet can dig deeper into and give to us, the Floating Castle is probably one of the things I really want them to tread carefully into.
I urge you to watch the video about the castle created by WoodenPotates. That way you’ll at least know the history about it
I really don’t care what will come up next but what I’d really love is if Anet put some of the lore from GW back into GW2. Don’t feed is with new stuff.
The topic pretty much sais it all
With the threads all around the web about the conclusion of season 1 of living story a dragon at this point seems somewhat inevitable(but still not confirmed). Whether it might be Primordus or Mordremoth is not of importance. I’d really like to see what people think this mysterious jungle dragon might look like even if it won’t show up in game soon or in 1 year or even at all.
The thing is that people is refering it to the jungle dragon since it is related to the sylvari and since the sylvari is made out of organic materials similar to plants it is only logical to call it a jungle dragon.
But if we would take a look at the map of Tyria right now in it’s current date the maguuma jungle is pretty ’’green’’. But only where it is explorable. Everything west of that looks pretty desolate(I should note that I did not play the first Guild Wars). And I assume that the desolate area west of the explorable zone is the area Mordremoth is resident.
[MAP GW2]
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/1/1b/Tyria_unexplored_map.jpg
[MAP GW]
http://vnmedia.ign.com/gwvault.ign.com/dropbox/Cartography/WorldMapTyria.jpg
So my point is, could it be possible that Mordremoth would look like a rock/jungle dragon?
Something in style like a mixture between these two.
[Jungle concept]
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Dragon_15_concept_art.jpg
[Rock concept]
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Dragon_07_concept_art_(Rock_Dragon).jpg
Or is a more jungle/grass looking dragon more prefered amongst all of you?
For me it would just make more sense to make Mordremoth more of a ground dragon since the habitat it might live in is as I earlier mentioned, desolate. Primordus is a rock/lava dragon, zhaitan is a corpse/undead dragon, Fang of the Serpent and Claw of Jormag hints towards a pretty snowy/icy looking dragon. It’s a bit different with Kralkatorrik, it created the branded landscape and afaik I don’t believe there exists a crystal/branded area in Tyria. Bubbles/water dragon only have one concept so I won’t go into that.
So in the end nothing indicates that Mordremoth needs to be a fully looking jungle dragon, but then again, nothing indicates the opposite either. However, most of the dragons have a look that links them to the area they are resident at.
No crafting or Laurel Merch at Vigil Keep??
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Ouimette.5902
I am NOT going to spend 1000 gems to visit the laurel vendor. That is totally preposterous! I am feeling more and more like a cash cow to Anet.
It’s all about convenience. The gem store is Anet primary income source. We’re getting free gaming content from a game whose competitors requires monthly fees. Would you rather pay 15$ each month to play the game or play the game for free with optional spendings on things that only makes it more convenient to you but does not whatsoever take away any content from you?
We’re not cash cows. We’re spoiled.
With all due respect but common sense would have told you to log off in a safe place knowing what was coming we knew about the miasma all the danger and they even told us lions arch was not going to be a safe place. So why are you mad that you from the sounds of it didn’t log off in a safe place and got zerged upon logging in.Sorry for you pain not my fault you didn’t use common sence.
They did not tell you to…. The article I read beforehand said you would be redirected to a nearby zone. It was not a lack of common sense… I actually looked the stuff up beforehand. So don’t insult me by telling me I didn’t use common sense.
Although if you have been following the living story you should have known that there is storytelling all the way to this point. So yeah we have been kind of expecting the invasion of LA. I don’t see there should be a storytelling in the midst of the whole invasion.
It’s chaos so I don’t see the point of any story. But I’ve spent enough time in Vigil Keep and running around in LA just a few moments ago to actually get alot of dialogues between NPC’s to get a good story out of this patch. Plus you got the standard mail where we get informed on what is happening.
You’re just angry cause you died instantly when you logged in. Take a chillpill and try logging in tomorrow.
‘’Your face is funny, all squished and weird’’
‘’No! Your face is funny, it’s like a little raisin’’
I hate those lines. And I will miss them.
I lol’d. Nicely done.
I always love when ANet puts references similar to this in the game.
Escape from Lion's Arch - Trailer discussion
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Ouimette.5902
Couldn’t care any less what happened to LA.
Are we getting any new real content? Dungeon? Instance? This.
Congratulations, Anet, you’re doing exactly what most people expected you to do, destroy LA. You’re now jumping on the bandwagon that Blizzard started with Catacylsm, ableit a few years late.
And that’s all fine and dandy, but what does that mean for the players? Is LA going to become a new dungeon? Is this a new explorable “elite” area like the Tower of Nightmares was? What’s going to happen when this update is gone, is LA just going to be a smoldering ruin with a few angry mobs that no one will bother going to outside of world completion?
And the most important question of all: Is this the big, epic, sweeping change to the world that will rock Tyria to it’s core? Because if it is…Than once again, I am dissappoint.
It also doesn’t help that this is part 3 of 4 of the finale, and unless there’s some big, epic reveal at the end of it regarding Scarlet’s motives, than hey guess what, we’ll be going into the final update completely blind of what Scarlet’s plan is, and I’m sure you’ll shove it down our throats in one big paragraph instead of telling it a crossed the past year like you should have.
It’s really difficult to get excited for an update when the trailer posted for it has one minute of “Oh look pretty LA views with recap” and 15 seconds of actual new content featured. And as others have said, destroying a capital city in an MMO is nothing new, nor novel.
It would be really nice if we could go back to how things were prior to Origins of Madness, and have a nice preview page of what the update will entail a week before, instead of a minute long trailer that usually doesn’t even show anything other than 10-15 seconds of content.
It’s teaser trailer. Not meant to give us everything in advance. Living story is finally starting to get a foothold and give us player a more intersting story than some mario jumping 8-bit world(in 3d) or a dragon festival. I’ve seen and studied enough cinematography to see that Guild Wars 2 is for certain making a story not unpredictable. But Anet has done a well job to keep some key elements that still makes the upcoming events in season 1 a mystery.
But this is what I believe will most likely happen.
<Scarlet will die but probably become Ceara in her final moments.
<Destiny’s Edge 2.0 will lose one of it’s members(probably Kasmeer or Delaqua)
<New enemy will reveal itself. Since Scarlet is probably sane deep down. This new enemy is just downright evil or has a very egoistic agenda.
<The enemy is so strong that Tyria has to once again unite.
And with all that. We now have a pretty solid ground to start from regarding season 2. Since season 1 has been played out like this, been slow paced and with more character development(in the most recent releases). Season 2 could most likely be more filled with content and eventfull releases. This is only concerning the story. All holiday releases such a Super Adventure Box, Dragon Bash and Halloween is probably just gonna be a ctrl+c ctrl+v were we get to experience the same thing as last year but some new added things.
Season 1 was just a year with a lot of W T F moments blended into a patch that released every 14 days.
Just like the personal story, were we knew what the conclusion would come down to.
Season 2 of living story will deliver the same thing. Anet will have a good red thread to follow and build around and we players will now probably a year in advance wait for what will happen in the end. Let’s just hope Season 2 will be better than personal story

I… don’t understand. How can anyone ever think this is getting better. How is this getting better? I am not bashing you, I swear. Please, explain to me how is this getting better. Because each new update is sending me into an abyssal depression towards the game’s future, and I am seriously worried about them not actually being able to turn this around away from the incoming crash zone.
Because if LA is destroyed, it means the living story is finally making real changes? At this point it doesn’t matter if other games have already done it, it matters that GW2 is finally doing it.
How is that hard to understand?
I thought we were rooting for more content, not for them permanently removing more chunks of the map for fun. But that may just be me.
Alot of questions is still unanswered as you said and we lack explanations for why things happen and that is what the wrapup of season 1 living story is most likely giving answers too.
But as far as we now something seems to be controlling Scarlet so you kinda have an answer already. Everything she has done has been under a greater power we don’t know about yet so when that power or entity reveals itself whether it might be an elder dragon or not, we will probably have a beginning of what season 2 will all be about and also have a fitting conclusion to season 1. Either way I strongly believe that season 2 will give us more content. Zones included.

Right now I feel Anet is just getting better and better. Living story is really starting to show its potential and feel more like a living world.
The trailer really gave me the chills. It is starting to show a more realistic(fictional) world and not as cartoonish it was before(say 6 months ago).
Cudos to Anet for making this. It really feels like they are going all in right now.
The guild testing was not a stress test. It was for glitches and bugs so Anet could polish the map. I am not saying that you all should stop flaming but you need to realise this cause it’s completely irrelevant to this situation.
I’m guessing the story won’t be over when we’ve entered EotM. She will probably show up after you’re done with the step where you need to talk to Braham.
People spend alot of gold to get their human t3 armor and then a better looking model of the set comes out on the gem store available to all races. Everyone who bought that must’ve at least thought it was a little bit weird or wrong that it was available.
If not. It’s your own fault and you are as blind and ignorant as the people at Anet who made the decision to put flamekissed human t3 in the gem store in the first place.
A big miss from Anet but nothing we can do. They sure as hell are working on the problem as we write so just be patience
I’m not doubting your skills as a warrior. But it’s just the fact that at the moment warriors is the most easy class to play just because it’s so passive. A very powered up build with a fairly plain learning curve.
Sure, you can learn to counter other professions moves and foresee your opponents attacks to minimize the damage done to you. But other than that it’s just swing your hammer until earthshaker is not on cd. I can’t blame you either for choosing to play with a build like this. I would prob. do it if I mained a warrior for wvw/pvp. But it’s just too overpowered right now. Anyone with half a brain can understand the basic rotation and use it and actually do some good with it.
I’m not hating on you. But some things on warriors needs to be nerfed.
I respect your honesty. I disagree that people roll warrior for this reason, I think warriors have been around since before they got this strong. Warrior has also seen its share of being underpowered. You speak like they won’t ever nurf something. I think they’ll run us into the ground at some point, however long it takes. That’s their mentality for whatever reason. I guess you can consider me a Warrior vanquisher, demolisher of all those who’ve wronged you with cheesey builds. Most the guys being smashed are terrible, aside from the norn who’s pretty good. You also notice how an ES doesn’t land on me very often because i’m too familiar with warrior mechanics. Once you avoid their 3 control skills, they’re not so difficult to beat (aside from the healing sig).
It isn’t any of our faults either that warrior was designed with a very basic approach in comparison to say a mesmer, or a guardian, or an engineer. I would have liked to see a more in depth stance process, or atleast mutliple uses of the burst system. Instead it’s just 1 burst skill per weapon which is pretty kitten boring.
I also disagree that Earthshaker is the most valuable skill for a hammer. I would argue that Backbreaker, or even Staggering Blow are more powerful when you can use them properly. Auto attack is probably the strongest thing for hammer, averaging around 2.4k per hit on crit is incredibly strong. A good warrior realizes this and does anything in his power to agress the opponent. Generally a warrior’s weakness lies just outside melee range.
I also don’t understand what you mean by we’re so easy because we’re so passive. Do you mean passive via utility maintenance? Passive in the fact that our utility skills are designed this way by flaw. Passive in our weapon skills and burst abilities because of how basic they are? I agree, we are a basic class, almost as basic as they come. Because of this, we are designed to do one thing: get in your face and hit you. That’s the one purpose of a warrior is aggression.
I agree that there are elements which definitely need to be changed and reworked. I feel they should add more complexity to the class in the way that stances work, and also the way the burst system works. I would very much like to see a system similar to GW1 in that you had to build adrenaline to use your stronger skills. I think stances should be slightly more complex in that they should be a f1-4 mechanic, not a uitlity skill.
Don’t worry about. I was very upset of meeting too many hambow warriors yesterday in solo queue and I’m not traited for them properly so I was kind of upset
My apologies.
This is why everyone rolls warrior. It’s so passive. Just stand still and let healing signet do it’s part while you wait for hammer cooldowns. The fact that you switch weapon to Sw/Sh confused me since you hardly ever used it.
I’ve been playing the class since before Healing Sig was even effective. I’m not knocking how strong it is atm, but there are good players who have no problem out dpsing my heal. I’ll tell you what, I’ll make my next video all with mending just for you <3. Lately I haven’t been needing to really use sword because I’ve been trying to maximise use of hammer. a 2.5k auto attack is double that of a 1.2k attack. I mainly use sword when they drop below 50 for the final thrusts, like a lot of warriors out there, or to setup flurry sheath combos.

Someone mentioned it earlier so I’ll throw it out once again.
The trailer voice for The Origins of Madness makes it clear that whatever speculations has been brought up throughout this thread contradicts what the trailer has to say.
And here’s why.
Okay so the trailer has just a few sentences but it is enough.(for me)
-She has grand designs
Even if she is mad, grand designs shouldn’t be taken lightly. Attacking Pale Tree feels waaay to weak to be called as a grand design. However, if it is the goal the way she is going to do it is what will make people hopefully drop their jaws for. Keep this in mind that the Pale Tree is too important to the PS and even creation to new sylvari characters. What would make up for it is that we gain access to the other Pale Tree and hence get like a huge chunk of Tyria opened up with new zones.
-She will succeed at all costs
This speaks for itself. She is mad but the way she is described here is more like an “unstoppable” force instead of a mad man. It’s she will succeed, not must. If the destruction and death is involved in massive numbers. That’s okay for her. So if that is the case. She isn’t doing this for a good cause in our point of perspective since people has speculated that this story will get a plot twist were she might be good.
-Even if she has to kill every one last of you
So this ties together with what I recently wrote. She doesn’t care about the amount of people she will kill. I believe it was in The Nightmare Ends we can read the scribbled notes at the watchknight, “Stupid humans. Always in my way.” they say. So basically, humans(probably along with the other races) is nothing more than mosquitoes annyoing her. So that’s hinting again that what she is trying to accomplish is beyond destruction and killing. It’s GRAND.
So she saw into the Eternal Alchemy. What did she see?
I’d like to quote here.
“There’s a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line.”
? Oscar Levant
She may be mad but that does not take away her ability to think greatly. It seems it only removes her way of thinking morally. So things like be ruler of the world is nothing she strives for. Power? Magic? Balance? Only Anet knows at the moment.
I think that her goal is not selfish nor evil. It’s what she thinks is for the greater good. But since she doesn’t think morally, the side effect of what she’s doing is not going unnoticed for us but for her it’s a sacrifice that has to be made.
I always love reading fanfiction. It’s fun to see what people can come up with. However, even if this idea seems to be great. It’s all “new lore” that has been “hidden” away from the races of Tyria. What this game really would benefit from is to creat new plots and areas with already existing content from the first Guild Wars or lore which can be found in the three fictional books or on the wiki.
There’s alot of unsolved mysteries in this game regarding the already existing lore which Anet really should start making content about.
You just need to get every craft to 400, not 500 to get to lvl 80.
This is wrong. You will need to get every profession to 500. As Cook and Jeweler only go to 400 atm, it is currently not possible to lvl to 80 just by crafting.
0-400 will give you around 7 levels.
Oh is that so? Now when you mention it I do only get around 7 levels per craft. But I assumed since 500 didn’t exist when the game came out and Anet basically told us that we can craft our way to 80 at that time.
Guess that was a lie
You just need to get every craft to 400, not 500 to get to lvl 80.
