Thanks Xstein, can you please post Ross’s build so I know what you’re talking about?
I actually did try to drop chaotic dampening for transference and replace staff with scepter/shield but that wasn’t working very well for me, perhaps cuz I’m still a nub Mesmer I found I was needing the extra protection from chaos armor and the illusions staff provides, I really wanted to make shield work cuz I love tides of time but unfortunately staff just worked much better for me, staff 2 is a life saver.
EDIT: I think you mean this build?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Build-Condi-Dire-Chrono-WvW-Roaming/first#post5897221
Wow so Trailblazer is the new Dire?
I’m not the strongest at condi builds but may want to look at Nightmare runes. You have other condi’s like burning and such on staff that will wear your enemies down as well. I always felt that with Perplexity your kinda just like a 1 trick pony. I’m not saying their ineffective. But if I was to run a condi build I’d would all applied condis to hurt.
Def worth a try, though I am a sucker for confusion, it’s just nasty
And that 5 confusion stack on interrupt on 15 sec cd from perplex is really good, I can stack 20+ confusion easy with this build which unless cleansed equals dead.
Btw, if going nightmare runes malice sigil would be really nice too.
(edited by PadreNike.1803)
I really wanted to make chrono work with the old PU condi build (http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Mesmer_-_PU_Condi_Roamer) in addition I thought the new Trailblazer gear (condit/toughness/vitality/condi duration) would make the build even more powerful.
So I was having hard time deciding which trait line to drop for chrono and after bit of trial and error I found this to work the best:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQNArfWnsIClphNqBmqBcrhlXjCNAypmoeYP2l1sDmhRA-TFyCABZp8rd9BAcCA6X9HKOEALv/wYKBP+JAQIAFrBA-w
At first it seems counter intuitive to drop dueling as since the build relies on clones doing the damage for you you’d think you would miss “deceptive evasion” (clone on dodge) but the chrono line more than makes up for it with “chrono-phantasma” and “illusionary reversion” to the point you can actually double shatter most of the time, moreso between staff 2/3, scepter auto/5 and decoy you can recreate 3 illusions very very quickly without any effort.
The chrono line also has amazing synergy with the stealth/PU as if it was a bit lacking in length since the 50% PU nerf you can now compensate by casting mass invis + continum split followed by decoy even without clones and immediately mass invis/decoy/torch 4 for an easy 30+sec stealth (amazing for escaping a Zerg after your kitten.
The trailblazer gear with perplex runes will make your condi duration longer and confusion duration close to 100% even with the cheap food I used there and without the need for malice sigil (not sure why gw2skills has it wrong), needless to say this is complete hell to fight against.
The old PU had the “anyone can outrun you” counter but with the chrono giving you perma 25% speed boost, blink and most importantly “time catches up” trait (super speed to your illusions) – your illusions are going to be able to catch up to anyone and killing them while they are trying to run away from you in screams.
My choice for condi removal was null field as it synergies nicely with staff 2 for additional chaos armor duration.
This build is pretty amazing for roaming can take on 2-3 ppl easily, the gameplay is pretty similar to the old one, pop up clones/phantasms, confuse your enemy by either stealth or not moving pretending to be a clone and burst them with confusion with scepter 3 / cry of frustration.
In terms of defense you can maintain high uptime of protection with staff 5/2 combo and staff 4, stealth & distortion, double any combo you can think of with conti-split and you’re pretty much unkillable played smart.
Give it a try and let me know what you think.
NOTE: I know this build is complete and utter cheese yet I still love it, war isn’t won fair.
I think part of it is that everyone in these tiers think “their” way is the best way, and sometimes, those strategies work with everyone else’s, sometimes not.
And as you get more “experienced” players in the team, the less likely each member will adjust their own playstyle to compensate for the team.
All I can give for advice is to play as you do, and if in the first few minutes of the game, your team is wiping or unable to cap points, change it up. If you’re lucky, your team can change it up early enough to be able to fight back. Other times, you end up just shy of a win, only because your team didn’t figure out how to work together soon enough.
I’ve been on both sides, some games start out horribly, then we figure things out and pull the win, whereas some will start off quite well, but then for some reason we slip and lose.
Definitely part of the challenge, I guess the problem in solo Q is that in order to win you have to play as a team as running around doing your own thing ain’t gonna work at this level, it quickly gets very tiring to to tryhard to work as a team with a different team of 4 randoms every game.
I won’t get too down. I looked at your scores and they are pretty much all over 350. Many are in the 400s. This usually means someone, maybe you, messed up big time. This happens. Remember it is a game. Reflect on what you can do better since you can’t control others.
Also remember, the current system does have some flaws (understatement) and just play games to play. I had a 6 game losing streak yesterday only to win 3 games in a row and go up a tier and half in Sapphire. That doesn’t feel right either.
These are just my last 10 matches obviously, there are many games that end up completely botched with scores like 500-150 as well as the close ones, I didn’t have those problems until the last tier in Saphire and since Ruby it became even worse, get to Ruby and see for yourself.
Your loosing sleep over a video game? I think you should just take a break, or try to make a couple friends in the mists. You could also befriend good players you see in matches and start up a conversation. You would be amazed at how well people respond to things like great game what build are you running? * would you like to try a few matches as a team?* Even a * wow our team was terrible, but i seen you played great* gets people talking. From my experience 3 or 4 man teams work the best anyways. I got frustrated with the system as well, but i just play something else for a while and sleep like a baby. Try not to stress about things you have no control over.
I was being overly exaggerating about that no sleep bit, there is nothing wrong with my sleep really, but ty
I was also referring only to solo Q, when I feel I really want to win matches I team with friends/ppl I met through matches and I win more matches, I am just mind boggled about my horrible stats in solo Q which makes me wonder if I’m the bad apple ruining it for the team every single time and find that hard to believe.
You were never very good. Look at your stats. Get better.
The current system is terrible, but you have a lot of improving to do.
Thank you for the thoughtful reply.

Ever since reaching Ruby I simply cannot go anywhere in Solo Q, I started this with over 60% win rate in ranked and now I am bit shy of 50% win rate, out of my last 40 matches I maybe won 5 (being generous here)… to the point I am actually surprised if I win… and I am just at a complete loss as to:
Have I suddenly become a bad player?
Perhaps I always was a bad player and this is where I’m supposed to be settled (ruby 0 pips)?
Have I reached Ruby by sheer power of grind?
How come I am most of the times at the side that does stupid kitten like:
– kill beast in Forest instead of going mid at the start
– “pro-strat” push far moves that end up killing everyone
– failed lord pushes that end up losing all 3 caps
– Ignore the 11:30/8:30/2:30 buffs in Temple yet someone always goes Ferocity and loses mid
– I always say “going mid, who’s taking home?” yet 60% of the time I get complete silence from all 4 other members (bad sign from my experience)
– etc, etc, etc…
Is everyone abusing MMR and I’m not?
Shouldn’t my MMR by now be tanked to rabbit/amber that I should be getting easy matches here and there?
I consider myself a pretty capable player, dragon rank for a while now (way before HoT), versatile in most professions, since HoT I played Druid/Scrapper/Auramancer/Cancer Rev, can win most of my 1v1s, conquest or stronghold the results seem to be similar whenever I solo Q
All these questions are keeping me from sleeping and remain unanswered, would love some input…

I agree about boot camp as I mention in the OP this doesn’t compare and is not the optimal solution but it is “a solution” if you have the computer resources to allocate to the VM and would prefer to stay under Mac OS while playing GW2.
For me that was a deal breaker as I need to sometimes quickly switch out of the game to check work emails, etc, rebooting back to OS X every time I want to check my emails didn’t make any sense for me so I tried finding a solution they would fit MY needs and am merely trying to help those who have the same issue.
The performance again, probably won’t compare to boot camp but is pretty decent from what you can see in my video inside the Reddit post.
While I appreciate your opinions boot camp isn’t a “Mac client” which ANet markets as “Mac supported”, for now this is the closest thing to a working Mac client – I.e. Running the game while still using my Mac without reboot.
My “personal choice” would be to use the Mac client as it’s supposed to be which unfortunately doesn’t work without crashing, this choice was forced upon me.

This is not “The Solution” it is “A Solution” if you don’t like the boot camp alternative:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3to8qf/psa_64bit_client_on_macparallels_tutorial/
Seems to work pretty decent so far for me, not even a single crash in 24 hours (I used to crash every 10 mins).
EDIT: oh, and ANet pls send 8000 gems my way as this is roughly the cost of the Parallels software until you give us a proper Mac client.

Reddit probably a bad place to look for GW2 Mac support. Get many people that want to say Mac suck bad computer for game. If want game play PC blah blah bah trash. I did find a post in that reddit thread I screen cap if that thread get close and remove to.
Thanks! :-)
TBH I could care less about support from the GW2 reddit community, the only support I’m actually trying to get attention from are the people who publish game I purchased, wouldn’t that be a good start?

Another thread (this time not made by me) completely obliterated by trolls and utter idiots, I just don’t get the hate for Mac ppl? wtf?
Why is it so hard to understand we don’t really care if the client is 32/64/128/whatever bits, we just want a WORKING client that doesn’t crash (ever since HoT) and is able to operate on decent graphic settings while completing a SINGLE event in the new areas.
NOTE: I have literally a freaking beast of a MacPro, 64GB RAM, 6GB VRAM, the latest and the greatest, I was getting 70 FPS (!!!) pre-HoT, why should HoT make the game unplayable for me? and no I don’t accept the client is in “BETA” (for 3 years) as an answer…
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3rjs5e/no_timeline_is_the_answer_for_a_working_mac/
It’s depressing how people treat mac players. Somehow it’s our fault for buying a game that 3 years back announced mac support. But anyways the one in fault isn’t the company that mislead the customer, but the customer itself, for owning a different os.
I would never have bought gw2 if they didn’t announce this piece of dump “client”.
Their answer is always bootcamp or buy a new pc. What about a more honest company that sold a broken product to their customers?
I couldn’t agree more, especially about those “bootcamp” replies? why should I give away half my HD space (which I don’t really have) to install another OS solely for playing GW2? why do I need to pay an additional windows license fee that costs more than GW2 itself to play GW2?

Please fix this, can’t play more than 5-15 straight, sometimes as low as 2 mins for a crash, this is after the latest patch which specified (yet again…) “fix client crashes”.
NOTE: MacPro with 64GB RAM (i.e. no memory issue here).

Thief is fighting presence due to their high mobility. Should ele’s mobility be toned down due to their high fighting presence? Seems fair
How about instead of nerfing ele mobility buff thief sustain and burst to make it on-par with other classes?
Moot discussion, thief has been QQ’d to death already, let’s just see how Dare Devil plays out.
I see much less QQ in the forums about D/D ele, did the last changes to Ring of Fire and Drake’s Breath make it (kinda) properly balanced or people just got tired of QQ’ing about it?
Does anyone know how does the different armor classes work with the toughness stat in PVP?
Say I’m using an amulet with +900 Toughness, will a light armor class (ele / necro / etc) be hit harder than a heavy one (war / guard) wearing the same amulet?
More clearly, is there a difference between an ele at 2800 armor and a guard at 2800 armor or is the entire difference between armor classes is only in the base number of the toughness stat?
(edited by PadreNike.1803)
It isn’t off the table, and we have most of the tech for it. I expect at some point we will do it, just not now. I don’t know when either.
Edit: This isn’t a promise we’ll do these type of arenas, just my opinion based off of previous discussions with the team. We may never do them, or we may do something like them. Nothing is planned at this point.
Basically confirming they will never happen and if it does, it won’t be for another few years when this game will be a barren wasteland of wasted potential and inept devs and their shattered esports dream!
^…
I wish it wasn’t true, but solo Q pvp for me has now been somewhat limited to “hot join daily pvp” and that’s it… The rest just isn’t fun as much as I try, so much wasted potential, please ANet do something about this.
how about having all the different modes? keep the current pvp modes, add king of hill modes, add stronghold modes, so everyone can play what he wants?
Why not? If everyone gets what they want maybe there will actually be people in Q and we won’t have to wait so long?
Forcing people to play what they don’t want just makes people not play at all.
OP is 100% right, while the combat and game is amazing, solo Q PVP most of the time is a complete boredom, it comes down to either waiting in Q, waiting 1 mins for all players to press “I’m ready” (no one ever does), and then having a complete botched match at least 50% of the time.
For those who argue we have the possibility for 2v2 and 3v3 in custom arenas is complete BS, really, who does that??? Yah like I’m gonna play conquest on 3 pts 2v2? Not to mention no Q system, no players to play that with, and no real incentive.
What we need are 1v1 2v2 and 3v3 insta kill matches (not even TDM, kill once and win, gladiator style), idc if I get 100 pts per win on this or even 0 as long as a proper leaderboard is implemented where I can actually see my rank in game and have visibility to other player ranks too so I can team with someone my own rank for a 2v2, 3v3, etc (different Q and lead board for each category).
It’s much easier and much more fun to team up with just another friend or two, coordinating 5 ppl is just way too much, it’s much easier to also get better this way and also much more satisfactory to see yourself go up the ladder based on skill and not luck of which teammates/opponents you’re gonna get in the solo Q.
Also this solves the stupidly long wait times, I can barely squeeze 4 games in one hour, this doesn’t make any sense… imagine matches which Q instantly and end in less than 5 minutes at the max.
I was playing another game before this on a freaking mobile device, graphics and combat system were old and outdated but the PVP still was way more fun and competitive than what I feel gw2 provides simply by using these 2 modes 2v2/4v4 with proper leaderboards and top lead board unique rewards (an incentive to be top dog).
What kills me is just the potential of this game in PVP is so amazing yet I find myself barely wanting to play this mode.

Kick and lfg “no ranger|no necro”
Implying necros and rangers are the only classes that attract bad PHIW players?
I see 5 signet mace/shield warriors more often than bearbow rangers, and those warriors are usually worse at the game as well
100% right, Also add “exp” or “know your kitten” to your lfg.
If on your first lava font, no one blasts your field leave and reform…
There are many more signs to bad PUGs anyone with just a bit of PUG experience can recognize it a mile away.
Kick and lfg “no ranger|no necro”, yes here and there there will be a spotter ranger who can actually control their pet and know what they are doing but overall just a waste of time and at any given moment any other class has better synergy with the team IMO.

Monopoly or not, [DnT] is registered for a single record only (Arah P2) …
I’d love to see the Americas giving some proper competitionNA currently has 4 records.
Combo of Hawt and DNT have 1 and LOD has 3 listed records atm for the all times.
That’s 4 records out of total of 44 (if I counted correctly), less than 10%.
ANet pls nerf EU this balance is outrageous

I’ve been wondering how come all of the top PVE guilds (at least most record owners) are EU?
I’ve been a silent reader of this forum for quite some time and all I see in terms of top PVE play are EU, namely the guilds [qT] [rT] [SC] [vC] (forgive me if I missed anyone) while in NA all I see is [dnt] which I haven’t seen too many records from (no offense).
i esared and reainstalled all the client from the installer and now it works. thanx all
i assigned shortcut to that buttons with roccat program. if you want to assign elite to button “5” and in game elite is on “0”, you have to assign “0” to mouse button “5” and is done.
i tried but still don’t work
Hi all,
i have Roccat Kova[+] mouse. Using windows 7 i assigned to button 4 and 5 the keybord 0 and 9 and it worked allowing me to use utility skill 3 and elite by mouse.
Now i’m using windows 8 and it don’t work. I tryed to open blocknotes and pressing buttons 4 and 5 they write character “0” and “9” … so they are correctly assigned.
Can someone help me?
