They can and do handle client-side hacking. They do want people to discuss hacks so they can counter them, and don’t sweep them under the rug. They ban players based on evidence, not number of reports. They do have the tools to verify whether or not players are hacking, but they disclose very little information about them. And there are things that can be done about hacking.
Then please tell me why, after all this time, and given the prevalence of hacking in game, they’ve still not added a “Hacking” report feature to the in-game reporting. If the company is a dedicated as you say, then why have they not done that?
Adding such a feature has to be a lot easier than adding a multi-colored jellyfish (since that addition seems to have taken at least one developers full time attention for over 6 months).
I have a couple of serious questions.
1. Did the person that came up with the math for this graduate from high school.
2. To prove it, please upload a copy of your high school diploma. How about just a copy of their resume. I don’t see his high school experience on there. Hopefully the other stuff can count as relevant experience for your assessment.
Perhaps the better question to have been asked is: Who decided that this system was a good match making methodology for WvW in GW2?
So I was walking around last night into the wee hours of the morning. When I noticed a few random goats just spawning out of no where. Under further investigation I found a portal or two. It seems some goats were portal bombing into camps and even tried to portal bomb a tower. I mean silly goats can’t just face us man to man they have to portal bomb into camps. Good thing we held them off last night.
I think they’ve just been having fun lately. Last night, one of their Mesmers ran up to me and portaled a Golem right on top of me.
I recently got a stack of 10 Corrupted Lodestones from a missed Mystic Clover attempt (using 10 receipe).
It really is a play style issue. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. I was Clerics for a long time, I tried Apothecary and while Apoc is a very strong build, it just wasn’t me. I simply prefer Clerics. But that’s what it comes down to…just preference.
You know what doesn’t crack me up? Our dumpsters being full. BP and AR if you could lose some weight so that we have more room in our dumpsters later, that’d be great, thanks.
And this is where we say… please reference the OP’s Topic.
Thank you for playing.
I don’t need this condescending and rude sort of remark. “Thank you for playing.” Who do you think you are? Until you can learn to respond like a civilized human being and actually provide a relevant argument, I’m not interested in what you have to say. I thought we’d gone over this in the past.
Pot, meet Kettle.
Learn some sportsmanship. You’ve got some people on your server who get it, see above. The nameless enemies you face in this silly game are people just like you, not babies. A little more class please.
One should not expect more of an opponent than they are capable of giving. Some people have class (in which case they require no reminding) and others, unfortunately, are simply devoid of it.
Lol AR outnumbers us 2 to 1 and still can’t take bay. Yeah, we got no skills!
Archer, considering how you have far surpassed the skill of anyone in Tier 5, why would you not transfer to a higher tier where you might find a better fight?
If you aren’t happy with those changes, I’ll be more surprised than the Imperial Japanese Army was by Marshal Georgy Zhukov at the battle of Nomonhan. I think that fits the criteria. Sort of.
Considering the direction you all went with changes to A/C and Thieves, if we are pleased, I’ll be as surprised as Admiral Zinovy Rozhestvensky at the Battle of Tsushima Straits.
I am unclear how you think an update — a “patch” — would take away items.
It could be the result of unintended consequences of complex code interaction (aka a bug). Unless the implication is that everything in game is in fact WAI and operating per design.
That would certainly explain why there is no way in-game to report mesmers exploiting into towers (i.e., Hacking).
Photos of the hamster please!!
And good job ^^
I call photoshop. We all know that if this were a real picture of the ArenaNet hamster he would have an ArenaNet LOGO stamped on his bottom.
Arena Net got attacked by a Blizzard SPY who shall not be mentioned, who sneaked his way into Arena Net and chewed off the wires to the servers. The culprit has been caught and is being questioned
But since the first thing he stole was their stealthing technology, while they know he’s in the building, there’s not a kitten thing they do about it.
and it is the thief who is running away from me
But his ability to do that with impunity is the issue with theives. If as a Ranger, I start a fight and it’s going bad, I have to deal with the consequences. A GW2 thief doesn’t. The instances of where there are consequences to a thieves actions are extremely rare.
I much prefer the stealth mechanic in other games. I don’t mind perma-stealth if once the fight is initiated, the stealther can’t restealth if in combat (or the old UO mechanic where he had to break LOS). Or even the SW:TOR style where the stealther gets one get out jail card for stealth on a long CD.
In summary
What I find amusing is that I’ve personally witnessed only one guild exploiting (on multiple occassions now) and it seems they (whoever they are), tend to be the most boastful. Hollow boasts to be sure, but still.
And the guy you’re quoting, Tetra, since he didn’t die once, I guess he must of skipped our defense of Jefferies (or however you spell it). He must of skipped it multiple times.
If solo, which I often am, I just ignore the thief and go on about my business. If he tries to follow, I’ll put pet on him and go on about my business. Solo thief isn’t dangerous, just annoying.
Now, on Saturday night when I ran into a full group of thieves (on 3 different occasions)…well that was another story. Ouch!
Where do you guys even get them in the first place?
You buy them from your Trainer. There’s a trainer for each class standing around the Mystic Forge in Lion’s Arch.
Still broken.
Wonder what we need to do to get anet to do their job their now it is 15 characters.
Bailey, please. We’re getting a multi-colored jellyfish. What more could we ever possibly hope for or desire?
Gear up alts with full exotics…best use of karma IMO.
the only way i know this can be done is by buying orian boxes with the char who has the Karma and then unloading the Karma on the alt you look to gear… cause im guessing Karma armor is soulbound….
Jugs of Karma are account bound. Purchased Karma gear is soul bound on acquire.
That was yesterday’s too. Is your computer clock set correctly?
You did say it wasn’t my guild, but you’re still accusing my server of cheating. Glitching into towers isn’t as easy as you seem to think it is, and it’s not something you can do in 15 seconds. Combine that with the fact that the last time somebody accused one of our guilds of foul play (botting) was because they didn’t know what /dance * did, and you can see why I think you’re wrong.
And you’re allowed to name names you know. I had no problem doing it when Kalkz used Mesmers to glitch into Hills, and you can certainly say the guild name that was involved so something can be done about it.
Fox, you are right, I know absolutely nothing about glitching into towers. But, I am fascinated by your apparent knowledge. Please enlighten.
Edit: And while I had absolutely nothing to do with it, I know it wasn’t “dance” that ArenaNet acted on. Please.
(edited by Pedra.4381)
So as long as you’re differing to those with greater experience; yes, “sweeping” the tower would have fixed that.
Fox, I’ve already stated it wasn’t GH. And I didn’t confuse anything. There were not two Mesmers. There was no pre-stacking. The group that was on my behind as I barely made it inside the tower ran to the back wall with the single Mesmer and he ported them in.
The guild in question apparently didn’t learn anything from the last run-in they had with ArenaNet.
Reminded me of the old DAoC days. Two 8 mans going at it and the other realm shows up to jump in. The two turn on them to drop them quick. Had to be real careful with AOE’s though.
Now, if you see anyone going straight up, or through, tower walls or gates. Yes, that be very bad.
I know the difference. I retreat fought them all the way across the lake, then for about a minute behind the tower, and with all cool downs popped, I ran into the tower. The Mesmer went straight to the back wall, stood there for about 15 seconds, then cast portal and they all popped onto the wall.
But, I defer to your greater experience, would “sweeping” the tower have fixed that?
we all kind of naturally pick up on the other’s tendencies.
Too true. Today, I watched a Mesmer run up to a tower, cast portal and he popped a group right onto the tower wall. It wasn’t GH but it was another very well known Ebay guild. Was very discouraging to see.
Screen shots, reports sent, etc. etc.
IIRC quivers never showed up on the hero panel ever. So that’s normal.
Thanks, did not know that. I bugged it in game when it originally happend (totally invis) and received an email from ArenaNet saying they were aware of this issue.
Was the wolf a hyena?
I bought Quiver for my Asura Ranger and applied it to my exotic backpiece. It did not appear however (checked and unchecked appearance toggle several times). Logged out, and back in, still nothing. Tried it naked wearing only the Quiver, nothing. It finally appeared on my character several hours later after dying and respawning in WvW.
It is only visible while looking at the character from the world view, it is still invisible in the Hero panel.
If you have sufficient manpower to defend the treb against ground attack, there a couple of other places you can put it and not have to worry about counter siege. Think ravines.
When I use quotes I’m being sarcastic, lighten up. Maybe I should say “pro tip /s”?
Yes, it’s more like 16 minutes but I haven’t used SotB lately to actually see the buff on my own bar so I don’t really keep track. But with signet changes, SotB is looking good. Maybe I’ll try that once thieves start running more sword.
Why am I told to lighten up when I did absolutely nothing but address you in the same manner you address many others on here?
OOTC: Yeah, it’s actually about 16 minutes 45 seconds (ish) and can easily be used at least twice in a fight (once before precasted and then immediately again once fight starts).
Some good footage from highlights from last night of [GF] running around, thanks Amins for putting this together, and also for editing out some of the epic wipes we had too
And I half expected to see highlights of the 3 times the whole GF zerg chased down the solo Ranger. It’s all good though.
Also, remember Signet of hunt’s effect lasts 15 minutes so pop it early if you enjoy that signet.
Not exactly 15 minutes, my man, but you knew that, right? (Pro tip)
(edited by Pedra.4381)
I bought Rox’s Quiver and transmuted it onto my Exotic back piece. It does not appear on my character. I have both checked and unchecked the show/don’t show box. I’ve also removed all weapons, logged out, and logged back in. Totally invisible.
I am an Asura Ranger.
Update: Last night after dying and respawning in WvW, the Quiver appeared on my character’s back (visible as looked at in the world). It is still not visible in the Hero Screen.

Well, my man, you dont like slowing enemy for pet to use sick ’em and the cheese build you popularized was nerfed. That sucks.
Chopps, I’m just amazed (stunned actually) to see you admit that something was nerfed.
Has everyone noticed this tidbit from the WvW notes?
“•Frost Spirit (ranger utility skill) no longer applies 10% damage buff to siege weapons”
That was a handy little trick.
Funny story. I was sPvPing yesterday. I was 1v2ing 2 mesmers. They burst me down pretty quickly. One mesmer leaves while the other remains to finish me off.
My dog KD’s him. Then I stop him with 2. Then I swap pet and my 2nd dog KD’s him. And suddenly, he’s down, and I’m 1-ing him to death while my dog revived me.
Ranger downed state is hilarious. I love it so much.
Wait…you can switch pets while downed??
News to me as well
Learn something new every day!
Swap to wolf, F2, has saved many a life.
Revert or quick-fix short leash incoming.
I’m still of the opinion that Spirits need a flat out redesign, Putting Duck Tape on a failing building is not going to fix the problem
If skillfully done, duct tape can give the appearance of a fix.
Come on AR…. you commander should be embarassed. 3v1 against me and none of you will leave your supply camp guards to fight me.
I’m not in your screen shot, but seriously, a thief calling people out for not “fighting”? LOL.
I love how it took 60 AR to kick us out of your Borderlands. Was an epic battle none the less. Good luck hanging onto your paper towers and keeps. Might want to paint over the graffiti we left on your Bay keep though :P
I don’t think it was 60. There were only a few of us left to hold that hole in the wall when PK tried to push through to the battle in Lords room. It was an awesome fight and we got lucky this time and held. Thanks for a great time there.
It was advertised as a pet class.
It was also advertised that classes were balanced.
What am I missing here that can’t be fixed and makes the pet “not viable”.
Hmmm, they still have problems hitting moving targets. Will that fall under the rubric of “fixed AI”? I dunno.
This sounds like a lower tier issue to me. On T2 it is extremely difficult to take a keep.
You may be correct. I have no experience above Tier 5 so that does color my view of things.
But the way things work right now, defenders are actually at a distinct disadvantage (which makes no sense whatsoever).
This. Only in GW2 does the attacker have overwhelming advantage over a defender that is inside a heavily fortified keep.
Taking over a keep should be a herculean effort, not something that a group of 5 can do with relative ease. Who here has never used Cats to ninja Hills?
It makes no sense.
I certainly plan on getting one.
Xsorus,
Can you provide a link please?
No Sebrent, what I’m pointing out and commenting on is that in one post you tell some guy you don’t share your build because of a promise. In multiple other posts you make repeated demands for folks to share theirs in hope of making some point. I know you don’t see the dichotomy there, but trust me, there is.
Forced hiatus? Not me, not here, not yet. Facts, Sebrent, that’s all I ask for.
Is the intent of this post that it be in the same vein of the developer that was laughing about Ranger aquatic fixes in the ArenaNet discussion video? I’m just curious.
(1) That second quote isn’t even from this thread. It’s from me mentioning in another that there are some good WvW builds that work well with the longbow. You took it completely out of context, but that’s not surprising coming from you.
I finally understand you, Sebrent. You’re part of the internet community that believes each and every post you make stands alone, that’s there’s no collective “body of work” or history. That each and every post stands in isolation to any post made before or after.
Well, it doesn’t work that way.
But you want context? Ok, I promised “Joe” (wink wink) that I would never post the build he gave me. So keep waiting.
(edited by Pedra.4381)
I’m still waiting to see those builds that these changes are not benefitting.
I won’t say too much because I promised Deus Ex Tree I wouldn’t share the build…
Interesting paradox. Keep waiting.
