Hmm, I have done it. I actually zone into other areas with enemies chasing me often, I even waypoint that way some times. Catching 4-5 adds and waypointing before they hit you is a great way to avoid a death.

Ok, I see what you did there. The discussion was about porting or using Waypoints while in combat. You claimed it could be done; when I called you on it, you change it to being chased without being hit…that isn’t combat and frankly places no one in any real danger.

Pro Tip on “a great way to avoid death” in your scenario? Don’t run into areas where you get 4-5 adds chasing you.

You should make everyone at arenanet aware of this so they don’t post misinformation like “it’s a bug”.

I remember reading the original “it’s a bug” post because I had just gotten stuck at 489k after switching a map. After reading this lastest “update”, my first thought is they couldn’t figure out how to fix it and have decided to make it a feature.

Us Rangers have grown somewhat accustomed to that approach.

From my limited perspective, it very much seems that ArenaNet’s first priority was to ensure the “naughty” did not get rewarded (naughty meaning those who didn’t attempt to participate in their very flawed event). If true that is indeed unfortunate. Their priority should have been to ensure the deserving were rewarded and if that meant a few naughty got undeserved rewards then so be it.

From anecdotal evidence it would appear that their first priority was not entirely successful as there are quite a few people saying they didn’t even log in but they got a chest. And from there it really went sideways as it also seems very many who had already received a chest (or more than one) were sent yet another.

For the life of me, I can’t see how this ever gets straight because their priority was never where it should have been (and doesn’t appear to be there still).

And with all due respect, I think you are exactly 180 from the truth of the matter. The event offered a reward. With issues that folks had, the team is trying to give the reward to everyone who participated, even — as you’ve seen — not fully or not to the end of the event. I’d say that the team is doing more to reach out to more players, not trying to put up some sort of silly barrier.

We can agree to disagree, but your thinking just isn’t at all accurate. That will be even more clear when you seen the sheer volume of people who get the reward with the distributions made.

Can someone please advise me on this? I absolutely can’t log into Support from any source but I can login to the forums and the game (and no I don’t have auto-login enabled so it’s not a matter of my having forgotten my login details).

I don’t think this is related to the log-in servers. I can log into the game, into the forums, but everytime I try to log into Support (it requires a secondary log-in) I get the message that my log in name or password is incorrect or my account has been closed.

I get this message from both the forum support log-in and from within game.

I would give you a support ticket number, but…

I’ve tried making a support ticket from within game to report I did not receive an Ancient Karka chest email but everytime I try to log-in it says my log-in info is invalid or my account has been locked. As you can see, neither is true. What do I do?

I challenge you to provide a single reasonable argument suggesting that they do. Here’s a counter argument: If ANet DID manipulate the gem exchange, the rates would be reasonably competitive compared to 3rd party gold sellers.

If ArenaNet saw the gold sellers as a competitor you might have a point. But, they don’t. They see them as nasty vector carrying vermin that must be eliminated and eradicated. For a whole host of reasons, they can’t legitimize them by competing with them and they’ll not change their business model as a reaction to them.

There is nothing magical about your “process” nor is it hard to fathom once one realizes what you mean when you use the word “economy”. Your economy is a closed system wherein you control all input and all outputs. In the real world that isn’t the definition of economy so therein lies part of the problem…most people misinterpret your meaning. Ultimately, your economy has but one purpose; incentivise as many customers as possible to visit your RMT store to spend real dollars on gems and gold. If ANYTHING seems to be impacting that in the wrong direction, ArenaNet takes immediate action to correct it. You close gold farming loopholes, you reduce the drop rate of desirable commodities, etc. I get that you are in business to make money, I really get it and I commend you.

But here’s the problem, when ArenaNet consistently takes IMMEDIATE action to fix game issues that affect YOUR economy and yet seems to show little interest in fixing major game issues for us, we start to lose faith and that leads to a bad place. It could be argued that the very long lead time to fix the blocking issues with “The Gates of Arah” are intentional actions because they could lead to a positive outcome in your economy. It’s been blocked for over a week on Anvil Rock. There’s a dichotomy there and unless someone explains it, you leave us to draw our own conclusions.

I’m not a big fan of Arenanet at the moment due to all that has gone on (and not gone on) with the Ranger, but with that said…I simply have not experienced this at all and I farm Orr everynight. Maybe Cempa has a point and it has something to do with pet HP and Toughness (or player) so we may get somewere on figuring this out if we try to identify why some are experiencing it and others are not.

I use the leopard mostly (though not exclusively) and in open world Orr (non-dungeon) am a 30 Point Beast Master. I never have a Risen run past my pet to get to me.

…but when a farm comes up that spikes charts and can upset the economy, we try to act quickly.

Translation: If it’s something that allows you to easily get gold and disincentivizes you from going to the Gem Store, all stops get pulled out to fix it.

If it’s something that simply affects our game play…not so much.

What sort of luck is the general playerbase having on Karka Shell drops? This weekend I killed 250 young karka and got 14 shells. At that rate it will take a realllllly long time to gather enough shells to buy that Exotic Earring set from the vendor (2000 shells for the set).

I’m sorry too. After trying to run bugged content yesterday and AGAIN after this “fix”, I’ve decided I’m not going to even try again. There are so many things wrong with the implementation of this “event”, I’ll not even attempt to articulate them all. And you’ve put a time limit on players to try and complete something that your game is preventing?

Just sad.

So, I had to work today and missed the noon “event”. No biggie, that’s life. Get home tonight, go to Lions’ Arch, talk to all the folks and then proceed to Kessex Hills. First NPC (the Assassin) is bugged and does nothing (though it is funny to watch all the players cursing in chat). No, problem stuff happens. Move on to Caledon Forest, and the poor quaggan is also bugged. Well, this is getting annoying (more interesting chat though). Move to the last location and you guessed it. And on top of that, I’m now being spammed every few minutes with the email telling me to go talk to the NPCs that are bugged.

Makes me smile. Oh, and to really top off the evening…I’m a Ranger. Today’s Ranger fixes…just icing on the cake.

Is completion of the Jumping Puzzles a prerequisite for the 100% Map completion achievement?

I think I’ve experienced all bugs mentioned on this story quest. I too was stuck on Fort Trinity at the second wave. Nothing happened so I quit and tried again. The second time, same thing but this time I wandered around the docks and noticed some YELLOW Risen just standing around. I attacked them and all kitten broke loose. It then progressed normally.

On Forging the Pact, I was stuck there for 3 tries. The first two, stuck at second team and each time I did all the offered dialogue. The third time, all I did was the “Let’s get out of here” or something like that, and it progressed normally. That was the ONLY thing I did differently.

Last night, after getting to a mildly annoying Vista, I watched six other players try to find the way up. All but two of them required hints because it’s not the “obvious route” which runs into impassable terrain. Then a 7th came up and didn’t even slow down and ran straight up impassable terrain to the Vista, hit it, and then quickly continued on. I’m assuming that’s some sort of hack, yes?

Jeff that may be part of the problem, but I wouldn’t stop there. In both my cases, Trahearne was not dead. The Asura guy simply wouldn’t follow.

My little Asura Ranger has started saying that all the time* now when she is under no ill effects (since yesterday). Is anyone else experiencing this?

*All the time, as in at least every 5-10 minutes.

I had trouble with this twice (NPC’s getting stuck at 2nd Research Team), but on the 3rd try, I clicked on the NPC and selected “Let’s get out of here” or something to that effect, I didn’t do any other dialogue and it worked perfectly.
