Even $600 for a black market legendary is too much considering the risk of getting banned.

I would guess the majority of Legendary purchasers did so via a combination of in game gold and gems with the IGG being the greater portion. I think you’re right about the black market, too risky, but who knows…

If they meant what people are interpreting they said about legendaries being best in slot, the simplest way, imo, would be to have the weapon level up with you… 80 – 81, so goes your weapon.

Ultimately, we have no idea how this will work out until its worked out.

Of course your going to see more legendarys, the fact that anyone can just google “legendary weapons” put in a credit card and buy one makes the whole thing a joke.

You do know that buying a legendary through gems costs +$2000, right? Maybe even on the black market, half of that?

The number of people who buy a legendary through real $ are far and few.

I think Mr. Smith said that gold costs from gold sellers run around 300%+ marked down, so about $660 vs the $2000 if you want to gamble on Gold Sellers.

I just happen to have an offer in my inbox for 2160 gd for $520.00. Don’t know if it still stands though, I reported him despite his (or her) profession of love.

Working on the universal gifts atm, if I get dawn or dusk, then I’ll pursue either weapon specific gift.

1. Gift of Master – done
2. Gift of Fortune – 71 clovers, about 1/5 of each of the Might/Magic gift materials

i am just about to come here to express a little frustration.. and saw this post. i use the 1x recipe and lost 20 ectos, 20 shards, 20 coins and etc.. only get 3 clovers. i thought we are getting 1 per 3 try??? why not in my case ? and worse i get worthless material back

I don’t consider any of the materials this recipe produces as worthless. As for your results, your sample size is small. As you make more attempts, your results will trend back toward the mean.

that is why i kept trying until 20 times.. because i thought i will get clover eventually with the 1 per 3 chances probability.. but i had to stop looking at my resources getting low.. so you reckon i should continue to get the mean production up?

I recommend you keep going if you want a Legendary because this is the only way to get Clovers… :o(

Over time, you should start to get “better” results as 1/3 does seem to be the average on larger (thousands) sample sizes. But you may get to 77 clovers without reaching the 33% average (so you’ll use more than 77/.33 Mystic Coins, Ob Shards, etc.)

WvW Overflow (A Queue Suggestion)

o m g You are advocating WvW for the sheer fun of the game with no impact on score! You forget something. What happens when no one wants to leave the que? Ok, ok, more constructively. What if the opposing players have no one in a quene and hence no one in the overflow?

This would be a game wide queue, so you would be pulling from every single player queued for WvW from all servers and randomly throwing them together into three teams. If there are 100 players queued, that’s three teams of 33 and one player get’s cut into thirds… (can’t be imbalanced!).

You would probably want to have the option to queue normally or go duke it out and the system would need to be balancing itself (like it can do in hot-join) to make sure the teams stayed even(ish).

WvW Overflow (A Queue Suggestion)

When I log in to WvW, that’s what I’m in the mood for. Getting into a Queue that could last a few minutes or a few hours puts me in a weird situation:

1. I can stand around and wait
2. I can stand around and wait using some superstitious technique (I know Queue times are shorter if I’m in Black Citadel, next to a female charr NPC, facing north & dancing.).
3. Work on clearing a map
4. Run a dungeon with my guildies
5. Do some hot-join
6. Anything other than WvW

None of those things are WvW and any that have to do with other humans (dungeons, hot-join) I risk skipping out on as soon as the Travel option shows up.

So what if everyone who was Queued for WvW got thrown into one of the BL maps or into EB, randomly assigned into three teams. You could advance your WvW accomplishments but obviously, the points wouldn’t count for anything as it would be an overflow map of WvW.

That way, when you get the Travel option, you hop onto your selected map for real WvW already in the fighting spirit.

You could make it even better and throw us all into a randomly picked racial city w/ safe areas for all three teams. That’d be funny, fighting it out in Divinity’s reach… or dump us all into LA and let us fight each other.

Give us the option to WvW, even if it’s in Queue, while we wait to WvW. Does the community support the idea?

IMO, don’t change the way crafting works now, just make more craftable items with difficult to get recipes. I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t be able to craft dungeon armor.

Why not make the armor skin recipes 500 dungeon tokens each? Say you want to craft the CoF armor, that’s 3,000 dungeon tokens for the full set and then the armor itself is a bit pricey, something like the standard recipes but with Molten lodestone reqs: 5 for head, arms, shoulders and feet, 10 for chest and 8 for legs.

Or if you want to keep the dungeon armor as is, introduce new recipes w/ nice skins at the laurel merchants and/or make them very rare drops from high-level baddies.

At the moment, crafting is a leveling mechanic but has little utility beyond that.

I also think it’s time to add ascended items to the crafting professions or at least ascended “precursors” that you can use in the mystic forge. Limited to rings, neck and back atm.

Odd…it was worse for me. Maybe it’s a problem on my end, although some have said it’s strictly a server issue. The slow rendering was even slower. What was different than before, was random in and out rendering within the same fight. Not thieves…just random enemies here and there fading in and out of existence.

There were actually 1 or 2 times when a group of 5-10 suddenly disappeared in front of me…then reappeared 5 seconds later as 20 strong…I couldn’t make sense of it.

My sample was about a 30 – 45 minute zerg on zerg fight, so relatively small as my brother logged in, and we went off to do some PvE.

I may change my tune with more experience under the new system.

How are people liking the new culling? Had a big fight with SBI over the camp north of bay (can’t remember what it is named), and the culling was much, much better.

I even let 30 or so of you (SBI) kill me as I stood there distractedly thinking, “This is great, I can see all these people destroying me…”

I think it is better than it was. We had a 20v20 last night and I could actually see most everyone there well before we were in range.

I agree. I think it prioritizes on large scale engagements and is a first step. Seems the right direction to me.

you dotn need to tell me what condition removes there are, i know them all.
Then too your calculation of time: Mark of Blood is the 1st skill used in this fight, so if you can realy calculate it into teh equation depends on the fight. and weapon switchign consumes no time, you can use it during your dodge. This is all very easy to land, considering you know how to play (i do that combo all the time in tournaments[without plague mostly] ) 25 stacks in a build that uses the dodge mark should be 2825 dmg/sec, so even against a single target you have a similar dps to a thief(+ you get poison and dmg from attacking/plague, leaving you with more than 3k dps. also you will find that plague re applies bleeding, wich will leave you at 25 stacks for about 10 seconds.

Mark of blood is 3/4 because that is the cast time. As for my other time calcs, I’m trying to factor in some extra time for the actual key presses. I’d be interested to know how fast you can get it off, get someone to time you!

Additionally, plague as an elite form which should probably cancel out the use of life force (I should’ve thought of that earlier). That would take away your additional stacks from being in plague.

I still don’t think you’ll regularly get this off. I have to admit, in tPvP it is more likely with the confines of cap points, but with Anet’s PvP specific skill system, you could easily have condi’s applied have 1/2 durations vs in WvW or PvE.

I’m sorry, but I don’t think this justifies it as being OP.

Mark of Blood, 3/4s, dodge roll 1/2s (guessing), weapon switch 1/4s (guessing), grasping dead 3/4s, switching to plague and activating plague 1/2s (guessing) -> Total time 2.75 seconds to get to 25 stacks, not even a total of 2.75s w/ 25 stacks, and I think you’d be hard pressed to actually get all that off in as little as 2.75s… but does it really matter?

Not only do you have to have nothing on CD, but the target has to stand still the entire time. How does ganking an AFK player with no other allies around to defend them qualify as OP?

What about a glass cannon warrior? GS – HB, Rifle – Kill shot, still alive? auto attack. how long does that take? About 6 seconds.

What about a glass cannon Thief? Invis – Steal – Backstab – heartseeker – heartseeker, still alive? auto attack! Takes about 2 seconds.

Everything is fairly OP against a player standing still and doing nothing while the stars align perfectly for you. Every class has access to skills that remove conditions, read here

I rarely see any instance where you can do what you describe to get to the 25 stack cap and even if you got that lucky, it is far to easy to strip conditions in this game.

If it is op, you can always 2x the drain on life force, keep in mind, this wouldn’t work unless you have life force available.

Maybe the concept is OP, but I don’t agree with your reasoning.

I run into the same issue. It’s hard to remember to switch out retreat once battle starts and the need to get around quickly means you want to have retreat available…

If you focus mostly on GS, keep judges and use a staff for your alt weapon to get around. You can also use your GS leap for some extra movement.

THAT is what makes cleric’s gear and sigils of energy a must in this build.

For tower defense, I use the staff. I especially like dropping 2, 3 & 4 on a group of rezzers and then 5 for the ones that stick around.

Staff is also handy for taking out cannons and oil as well as dropping your marks on the walls during a siege.

I don’t use scepter much at all. For WvW it’s a staff and dagger/dagger, though I’m going to try out the dagger/focus combo.

You are aware that this would make it possible for necromancer to apply 25 stacks of bleeding on a node in about 2 seconds (yes AOE)?
And if you do: do you realize that this would be insanely overpowered?

I’m not aware, please show the math.

I’m assuming the node is standing completely still and alone and looking at his/her map for the 2 seconds that you get the 25 stack in place?

Edit: Not trying to be a jerk, I just want to see the math to gauge how reasonably we could expect to get a 25 stack out there. After all, possible and plausible are two different things.

[WvW/PvE] The "Healway" Guardian

I like this build. I’d been running a 0/0/30/20/20 meditation build prior w/ GS and Scepter/Shield. I’ve switched to this build, but I’m still using the shield, once I’m done lvling my ele, I’ll craft a focus for my Guard’s offhand.

I’ve been trying to work out whether this build would work better w/ full Soldier’s vs full Cleric’s (currently, I use full clerics) for a WvW focused player. I think it comes down to your approach, if you want to do more party-wide support go cleric’s, if you want to be a bit more survivable, go Soldier’s.

Looking at the math (keeping runes and skills the same and traits at 0/0/10/30/30), when you run up against lower power, lower crit enemies, the higher HP is an advantage, against higher power, higher crit enemies the vitality increase is an advantage.

I made a few base assumptions to come up with what I thought your average (stats, not skill), decent (skill, not stats) WvW player would look like, and I went with 25/25 Crit Chance/Dmg, 2100 power and 1000 Wp Dmg with a 1 Coef to get what I felt was the average dmg you would take per attack. Does that seem reasonable?

I also looked at how much healing a guard could reasonably expect with this build and came up with the following: Regen 67% of the time (SvYrSlvs & HldTLn), VoR passive heal @ 1/3 (every 3 seconds) and healing from Shelter at 1/30 (every 30 seconds). I left the active VoR out because it is less effective over time and is a trade-off w/ the passive effect. Obviously, you’ll use it to spike heal and eliminate the passive effect, so I looked at the two as mutuality exclusive and chose the one w/ a bit more healing over time.

It looks like running Cleric’s will net you about 120 more health per second vs Soldier’s. The trade off is in vitality where Cleric’s gets you 13,805 & Soldier’s gets you 20,245.

I then took the average dmg per attack, subtracted the average healing per second and divided the net dmg against your vitality to see what % of total health you would lose. The point here isn’t to mimic an individual attack but to average your play experience out over time.

I got the following two results:

Cleric’s: (868.6 – 441.42)/13,805 = 3.1%
Soldier’s: (868.6 – 324.12)/20,245 = 2.7%

In the end, your party will appreciate the added Healing Power, but with Soldier’s you should be better able to tank spike dmg while your healing is on CD. Again, your playstyle should dictate your gear choice.

Either way, if you are going to run this build, you’ll get the most damage mitigation out of Cleric’s or Soldier’s vs any of the other armor types. Great build.

Bay was fun this AM (8am +/- EST), great fight w/ TC in the Lord’s area. I love those smaller 10-15 v 10-15 battles.

Doubt we’ll see much of them in T1 when we get there.

I think most of us would like more viability with our conditions and our “attrition” based play style. At least, I would.

I’ve been thinking about our Class Mechanic, and I think the following adjustment would make conditions much more viable while giving us some more party support.

F1 – Death Shroud: no changes
F2 – Malevolence: while active, Malevolence drains life force at the same rate as death shroud and all condition stacks you apply are doubled
F3 – Rancor: while active, Rancor drains life force at the same rate as death shroud and all condition durations you apply are doubled
F4 – Voracity: while active, you pull all conditions from nearby allies (range 900) to yourself, gaining 2% life force for each condition pulled

You could run both Malice and Rancor at the same time, doubling the drain on your life force. 2% on the LF gain from Voracity may be too much.

I like this idea. It would be great to see how both areas evolved in the 200 years since we last saw them. I don’t get the “this was in GW1” reasoning. You know what else was in GW1? Tyria.

I think the most likely option is to include 1 new UW Fractal and 1 new FoW Fractal… now getting the mobs to drop ectos and obbi shards…

If they did do full-on UW and FoW dungeons, it’d be a great way to intro ascended armor…

I also think that in PvE you should be able to purchase an upgrade for your guild leader and then your guild officers that allow them to form large parties for big PvE guild event nights and such…

I wonder if the community would be interested in a point system for transfers that would allow you to transfer by spending time as opposed to spending money?

I think a point system that works like karma or glory would do it. Points should cap at 18 and transfer costs would be:

5 pts – low pop server
10 pts – med pop server
18 pts – high pop server

You would earn 3 transfer points as a reward for completing your monthly, or you could buy points via the gemstore (500 gems for 5pts, 1,000 gems for 10pts, 1,800 gems for 18pts).

Maybe you could make the points trade-able for karma or laurels for those folks who have no interest in switching servers.

I’ve noticed that LA lacks a lot of coverage during prime time.

The other day, I was stuck in queue for EB and LA had 0 coverage at the Shuttered Gate. Yuki was basically there by himself on guard duty digging for worms and clucking at the palm trees.

Additionally, we didn’t even have enough coverage for me to get a rez when I died trying to start Sharkmaw Caverns.

So if you’re thinking of server hopping, please keep the Overflow in mind. We are a very friendly if somewhat transient bunch.

IMO, a Stonemist “Breakout Event” using dragons would be epic.

Say it requires 2 qualifications:
1. Single server has to have held SM Castle for 6 consecutive hours
2. That same server has to be in first place and have a lead in excess of 25% over the second place server

If both those quals are met, all the dragon Lt.s show up and ransack the place. They should be killable, but so difficult it would require full EB queue and everyone on your server dropping back to SM to defend.

If they wipe you, they ransack the place leaving all the walls down and every npc inside dead meaning it’s a three server race to see who gets there and takes it back.

On the other hand, if the server defending SM manages to fend off the dragons, nice big reward chest with seige and badges at the end of it.

Actually, it would be even more epic and insane if the dragons transformed the other two servers into one mass of dragon zombie minions and everyone attacked SB and once the dragons left switched back and fought it out for control of SM.

I like this idea, I would just tweak it a little bit. Instead of F2 – F4 summoning minions, they should be minion controls similar to the ranger.

F2 – attack my target
F3 – return to me/do not attack
F4 – die

Pixels, I feel the same way. I’m a Sylvari Condition Necro.
1. Plague: Synergises most with the condition spec, but is situational and involves being in the frontline. I do my work best unnoticed so it’s not that ideal.
2. Lich: Totally doesnt work well with a condition Necro.
3. Summon Seed Turrets: Useful for the 3s invulnerability. I use them during defence situations, sometimes in small duels, but the CD is too long for the 30s recharge.
4. Flesh Golem: Knockdown is nice, shortest CD of all elites, but he drowns and aggros too much/dies too easily.

My simple suggestion would have to be: Let us put a utility instead in the elite slot.

Here’s one for the condition necros that will probably never happen as it would require a new condition, but I would love to have this one:

Persistence of Pain
Channel the essence of death toward your target making them Incurable for 5s, all existing conditions cannot be removed from target and target cannot gain new conditions or boons while incurable.

When Persistence of Pain ends, you are weakened for 5s

Cast Time: 3s
Recharge: 180s

Incurable scales in duration

Recharge: 45 sec

On topic: Yes, 30 points in Blood Magic works really, really well in PvE. I ran it some time ago and found that I survived better the more mobs I took on at once, capping out at around 6 or 7. In Orr, no less. Your health bar will jump up and down, it’s fun to watch and play.

I run 20/0/20/30/0 w/ bloodthirst, ritual mastery & vampiric rituals. It may not be the best build, but w/ daggers and Wells of Blood, Power, Corruption and Suffering all popped and a huge group of dredge pilled on you in the fractals, it is a lot of fun.

For the next 24 hours, your reanimator trait is adjusted so that you summon 5 gingerbread quaggan minions who cheer you on. Gingerbread quaggans last for 1.5 seconds and grant happiness on death, leaving your necro shrowded in a rainbow for 23 hrs, 59 minutes and 58.5 seconds.

Recharge Time: 23 hrs, 59 minutes and 58.5 seconds.

As a Sylvari necro, I rarely use my elites. I just don’t find much utility in them. If I could create one myself, here is one I would love:

Ravenous Thirst
Give in to your insatiable thirst for blood granting yourself stability (3.5 sec), your next 5 attacks do half their normal damage but steal life equal to the damage they do.

Cast Time: 3/4 sec
Recharge: 60 sec
