I would actually like to see the changes reverted. BUT only on the condition that the map be pulled out of Solo Queue rotation. Solo queue should mirror Team queue.

Skyhammer allows me to spec completely tanky and still regularly 1-shot opponents. Any map that allows for that behavior is a troll map. That’s what Skyhammer is.

The improvements move it slightly closer to a conquest map, but the design is inherently flawed as a conquest map. I feel like you should embrace the troll nature of the map, revert the changes and stick it in its own queue.

At least reverting the changes allow engies and thieves to troll as hard as the rest of us.

As an aside, Spirit Watch needs to be pulled from rotation as well and repurposed for another game mode. I really do feel that Solo Queue map rotation should match Team Queue exactly. My 2 cents.

I’m going to help you out. The designation of Tier 1 for spvp players is self-appointed and an honor reserved for only the most exceptional and erudite young men and woman.

Let’s look at the text to see how we can determine the ranger’s status as Tier 1 solely by your dialogue with him:

1. Note he/she refers to your build as an “Illusion Death Build.” Most people would just say something like “PU Mesmer”, but a Tier 1 player is a learned man and uses as many syllables as possible.

2. He calls your build “cancer.” This is at least a Tier 2 vocabulary and hurts his claim slightly, a true Tier 1 would have referred to you as carcinogenic. But no doubt, in his wroth, he reverted to Tier 2 behavior. We will allow this, his claim stands.

3. He threatens to make you the “laughing stock of the PvP community.” Put simply, only a Tier 1 can make such a powerful threat.

4. “Insulting a Tier 1 player is the last thing you want to do.” Oh my, truer words have never been spoken. Incurring the wrath of a T1 player basically sets you on the path to destruction. You have no chance to survive. Make your time.

5. “pvp community separate players by tier.” This is the icing on the cake, the true separation between Tier 2 and 1 is that a true Tier 1 Hero is always educating his lessers as the Ranger is here. Learn from this David, you are in the presence of a true master imparting nuggets of pure gold wisdom.

David, your only true option here is to uninstall the game, or everyone is going to laugh at you.

On the other hand, you could ignore him and keep playing. There are no official tiers to worry about. Even the leaderboards are kind of useless. Good luck, have fun… and always remember: “It’s just solo queue.”

I had some nasty lag on NA yesterday evening during prime-time… forgot to record the IP. I think the devs have stated in the past, if you’re getting lag, type /ip and post that so they can look into it.

As far as Mechanics, combat and movement are concerned, there isn’t another MMO (IMO) that comes close. The foundation of this game, from that stand point, is exceptional.

The content… well, they’re working on that!

In conclusion, I agree with the OP. This is the best MMO (amazing) I’ve ever played, and I believe it will only get better!

You sure about that? Rune of the Ranger gives a flat 7% damage bonus with a pet, Rangers can basically take 100% of that bonus. 10% damage from the side or behind? The “strength” of the new pew pew ranger is to maintain distance and position yourself in hard to reach spots, you don’t worry about which direction your target is facing. So I don’t see them making very efficient use of that 10% bonus damage.

Additionally, the ranger would have to make perfect use of the fury up-time on the Thief rune.

I think rangers would still be better off using RoR, but I agree with some posters above about giving the Fury ICD a longer duration. 5s every 15s v 10s but make it a shared fury with nearby allies.

Another version of this rune could be:

1. +25 Precision
2. +35 Ferocity
3. +50 Precision
4. 25% Chance on critical hit, grant fury (5s) to you and your nearby team-mates (15s) cool down
5. +100 Precision
6. Gain 10% damage bonus when striking a foe from the side or behind.

How do people feel about having the ability to change ascended armor stats?

There is already a precedent, you can change the stats on legendary weapons.

I know people like to argue that the ability to change the stats on legendary weapons is part of the uniqueness of them, and that’s a fair point; however, the real appeal of a legendary weapon is the look of it. After all, folks made these long before ascended weapons even existed.

In order to separate legendary weapons you could add a small cost/fee to changing your ascended armor stats and a geographical requirement for it as well.

Additionally, ascended armor cost is already very expensive for a small stat bonus increase, so I feel like having the added benefit of changing the stats makes getting the box drops more enjoyable.

How about 50s to 1g per piece to change and a new or existing NPC in major cities provides the service?

Other than that, a mystic forge recipe could work using items obtained through laurel vendors or fractals or something that uses Karma?

What do you think?

Too much of a hybrid rune, IMO. I think it would work better as follows:

1. Stored builds for players (amulet, runes, sigils, weapons & trait allocation)
2. Improved training grounds (maybe even an NPC based conquest match a la the Zaishen Challenge to help new players learn the game mode)
3. Functioning ready button
4. Unranked Queues (hot join does not function as a feeder game-mode to solo and team queue, rather it works like a rewards farm. Not a good place to learn much about the only ranked game-mode in game, atm. And probably a big turn-off to spvp for new players who hop in to one those matches thinking it is the logical starting point)
5. Minimum Game Requirement to appear on leaderboards
6. Improved rewards for wins while on leaderboards
7. Extend class based titles for tournament wins (“X Champion” titles)
8. In-game notification of major tournaments (Here’s a good example)
9. Dragon rank rewards based title (a reward track with unique rewards that unlocks for players who reach r80)
10. New game mode(s)
11. Teleport Skill bugs (fixing some pathing issues on teleport and movement skills as well as the latency rubber-banding issues on these skills)
12. Reduce effectiveness of passive play (AI builds, rune of the nightmare, etc.)
13. Improve the overall quality of the Dragon Finisher
14. Skill queue toggle switch (allow players to choose if they want skills to queue)
15. Additional data in spvp menu (add more historical data from matches for players to review, here is a rough example)

Any map that allows you to build an incredibly tanky spec and still one-shot people (via pulls, pushes, knockbacks, etc.) is inherently a bad map. Especially when you consider that those types of skills and skills that mitigate those types of skills are not evenly distributed across all classes.

It looks like those teams are winning too Imagine 3 rangers coordinated 1500 range drilling everyone on the map. Ugliness.

That happened to me last night… but it was just 2 rangers. If they know what they’re doing, it’s pretty awful. On the other hand, if they have no clue how to play ranger, it’s a free kill.

Hey all.

I’m sad to say that I’ll be leaving ArenaNet after 8 years with the company, and it’s been an amazing ride!

I’ve chatted with many of you on vent, we’ve debated on State of the game, we’ve tossed ideas back and forth on the forums, and I’ve met many of you in person at various cons!

It has been my privilege, pleasure and honor to work with such a passionate and intelligent group of fans. oops, looks like this map, which is a terrible interpretation of conquest, is still in the conquest queue… apparently, the team that recognized this and made sure it didn’t show up in team queue, forgot to provide the same service to solo queue.

As stated many, many times in similar threads, the game needs an in-game economy method to remove upgrade components without destroying the upgraded item. It should cost game currency, laurels, gold, ecto, whatever. Karma gear should have runes removed period. This will alleviate any issues with karma-gold flipping.

Yeah, this would be nice.

Before I could transmute it onto the new pair of pants I have, but now my 6th rune of the traveler is on a pair of britches I got w/ badges in WvW… :o( And even a trusty old Black Lion salvage kit can’t get to it.

D/D should be a pure dps set, you could go a long way to fixing it by:

1. up the evade frames to 1/2 second on death blossom, remove the bleeds and increase the damage it does

2. dancing dagger should stun (1/4s) the first opponent when hit from the side/behind, increase the damage by 5% and initiative cost to 4.

3. cloak and dagger increase the damage by 10%

Guild Looking For Group (LFG)

Goal of Proposal
Create a more direct way for guild members, esp. in larger guilds, to help each other out.

Proposal Functionality
Create a guild specific LFG that allows you to see what your guildies need help with. As an example, if I’m having trouble with a specific dungeon path, I can post a request saying I’d like help running that path and list the time and day I’d like to do it. Other guild members can sign up for that day and time.

You can use the existing infrastructure of the current LFG, but instead of being real-time, it would work more like a bulletin board.

Potential Risks
It doesn’t get used or the functionality doesn’t work properly and there’s always the risk that the community doesn’t want this feature.

I’ve attached a sample of how an enhanced Spvp menu could work, this would function using tabs within the existing menu and pull in a lot more of the currently tracked data (at match end).

I did this quickly, so some of the stats that could be added to things like the Maps tab would be revives, avg and high, etc.

Drop-down menus would allow for game-type selection, so you could see how you do on each class in solo queue or team queue. Lump hotjoin and arenas together or simply don’t track arena games.

I feel like the Spvp tab would benefit from a nice overhaul like the one given to the TP.

Also, a hot-key for the spvp menu would be great…

Sorry for the bump, but I did appreciate the responses and was out of town and unable to respond until today. Just to note, there were 539 days from game launch to Elona, if you look only at what was added in the Factions/Nightfall expansions, here is how they average content per day (rounded up to the nearest day):

1. A new playable class every 135 days

2. A new explorable region every 6 days

3. A new skill every day

4. A new Guild hall every 68 days

5. A new PvP game mode every 180 days

6. A new PvP map every 24 days

7. A new Quest/Mission every 2 days

8. A new (non-gem store) set of armor every 4 days

9. A new Elite Mission (think high-level dungeon) every 180 days

I don’t believe using GEM store revenues to produce an “expansion” level of content is going to work. I think as long as you’re getting money from GEM sales you focus on producing more content for those GEMs and that is what we’re seeing. I really hope I’m wrong, but I don’t know that the metrics above are even what ANET is considering when they talk about content.

My answer is no and here’s why. Content follows the revenue streams and right now the revenue stream is the GEM shop. Is it any wonder that the GEM shop has soooooo much stuff? That’s where the money comes from. And they can use it to develop non-GEM store stuff, but look at the time frame. Look at what ANET was able to do in GW1 within 2 years.

As long as they continue to focus on making the GEM shop their revenue source, that’s where the majority of their development time is going to go.

I want to pay for the types of things on the attached chart. I don’t mind the GEM shop as a revenue stream, but what I thought was that it was a source of income for ANET during their expansion development cycles, It appears I was mistaken. I’m depressed that GW2 is going to continue the way GW1 ended (not the way it started).

Essentially: Living Story = GW: Beyond and a focus on the in-game store…

Hello,

I played GW1 and started a few months late, I played it with most of the folks in the GW2 guild I’m in now, and a few nights ago we were having a discussion about things to do in GW2, and I made a comment that GW1 had a whole expansion, Factions, by the 2 year mark and a buddy pointed out that it actually had Factions and Nightfall by the 2 year mark, so I went and did some research. You can see it attached.

Disclaimer: I took that data from the wiki, and in some cases, I had to eyeball it or the wiki didn’t agree with itself (skills in Nightfall expansion), so a few numbers might be wrong, like 241 new skills vs 240 in Nightfall, the point is that it is directionally accurate. Further more, the point is to show how much in the way of new content ANET was able to produce for GW1 by the time we get to the two year mark.

I love this game, It’s the best MMO I’ve ever played and I’ve enjoyed it for 2 years, but it’s getting to the point where I want more things to do. To put it bluntly, ANET I want to give you my money, I really do, but it needs to be for a bulk load of permanent content. I’m not paying you another cent, I don’t begrudge a single dollar I’ve spent with you, but I’m done until we get actual “expansion levels of content.”

I have money sitting in my pocket (confirmed with wife) with your name on it. But I’m not buying anymore GEM store outfits, character slots, brooms, etc. I bought my last GEM card last night and now I’m done (dat drama!).

And when I say expansion level content, I’m talking about the attached… things like:

1. By the 2 year mark in GW1, I had 150+% more explorable area
2. I had 6 pvp game modes and 37 maps (please bring back competitive missions)
3. 200+ sets of craftable (sort of) armor
4. More than double the skills and nearly triple the elite skills
5. 7 elite missions
6. 4 Holiday events
7. But no partridge in a pear tree, not even as a minipet

The attached list isn’t exhaustive, nor is it meant to be a comparison, it’s meant to be an illustration of what I would like to see added to the game. And I want to give you money for it. Put it in a box and stick it on a shelf and I’ll be there with bells on.

I love this game, and I want to keep playing. I want to see the Guildies that left come back and play with us again and I want more content. Not for free, I feel I’ve gotten my GEM’s worth so far, so I want to pay. Pay. Pay. PAY. For expansion level content.
