Honestly, I have no idea because every time I DO get in, I disconnect within about 30 minutes. I do think something is wrong with the queue, and I almost want to say it was made worse by the guesting system that was implemented. That is the only recent change that I can think of that affects the WvW queue system (those guesting cannot access WvW on the guesting world). That is, unless they made some ninja change to the queue that they are not sharing.

The issue is, as mentioned by a developer, that the WvW tickets pop up at random. In other words, you could be waiting hours and someone else just minutes. It should be first come, first serve.

There are also other minor issues that effect times. These do need a developer fix.

Could you link the thread where the developer mentions this. I have yet to find it. (not trolling, being serious, I want to know )

Won’t tiers be determined by whatever number of points are gained by servers during the week? As in servers that blow out their current tier will be T1? As I said, I may have it completely wrong.

As far as I understand, you are correct, barring one prerequisite, that all the servers be set to particular rating say 1500. If they tier the starting reset values to say 1700 for T1, 1600 for T2, etc this will still happen, but to less of an extent.

Now that ranger you guys have that was exploiting some bug I’ve never seen (getting multiple cannon shots to the face and instantly refilling hp when no one else was around as well as sending his pet up the wall)….well, ’nuf said about that.

The refilling HP may be because he was at long range and technically “out of combat”. I know that if I’m hit by long range siege and no enemy is around to continue the assault, I refill HP as if I’m out of combat. Also, the ranger pet trick is well known and is a skill that allows the ranger to target an area and the pet will basically defend that area, even if that means jumping up on a wall. Whether or not it was meant to do that, I have no idea, but it does do that.

Personally I want a duck sized giraffe. Like the one in this commercial.

SoR NA isnt “stacked” for the past 3 months the NA crew has carried the server and thats because of 4 hardcore wvw guilds really (choo,tw,fear,cds) and we have gotten zero new NA guilds to come over.
When we were in T2 we literally had ONE oceanic guild nine dragon(nd). And this guild joined the enemy server (BG) during mid week of a matchup. Many of the guilds here were not happy about that. If you cant beat them, then join them! riiiiight?
So up until last week we had a total of 20-50 player defending all of our wvw during oceanic time (for 2 months straight). Yet our NA crew still came out everyday and recapped all of our stuff.

Not sure why we are discussing this in the T1 forum, but for clarification, we did receive one or two NA guilds I believe, one of those being Helioz (correct me if I am wrong). The fact remains though that our NA has been and still is our strong point and most of our recruiting efforts were aimed at said Oceanic and SEA time slots.

As for the rest of what you said, what is done is done, I look forward to future battles. I will be very interested to see the “new” reorganized SoS as I have not seen them since our close encounters in the lower tiers. I am sure we will meet again in the future ^^

Sorry won’t work. When I was playing CS one of my clanmates said the following statement about knife vs gun:

“I knifed you 5 times and you shot me only 10 times, so I owned you”

Nope. The side that wins (e.g. higher score) should be considered the winner. It doesn’t matter what disadvantage the losing side has to face.

What the system can do though is put the people with disadvantages (only have a knife) against each other, instead of facing people with advantages (have a gun).

I do agree with you, as I don’t see this scenario happening. However, I was humoring someone with a hypothetical situation which would be the most likely to occur (imo) if we were trying to fix the problem. However, Anet has repeatedly stated that night capping just happens, we aren’t fixing anything about it.

However, it still leaves a sour taste in my mouth that WvW could potentially be taken off the table for those in the outmanned hours. I wish there was a way to give the WvW experience to those people.

I may not have a mesmer or ele at lvl 80, but I did make the transition from warrior as my first character to necro, and leveled that necro from 2-80 in WvW. I tried the other two classes, and I just didn’t feel comfortable with the level of tankiness they had. Being a warrior I loved getting up close and personal with my enemies, but unless you run a D/D bunker ele, I think necro is the closest you can get to that feeling.

I run a condition tank necro btw. None of that power stuff :P but yes what kuora said, every light class has their place in WvW. Although I feel like necros are sometimes under-utilized compared to the other two.

It wouldn’t be to the degree that the outmanned team would be winning in points, they would still be winning immensely in PPT, but the outmanned team would now have incentive to flip sentries and kill yaks and flip towers since it actually contributes.

I addressed that and said it is the vital point against such a system. It isn’t anyone’s fault that one timezone outnumbers another, it is a numbers game after all, but it is also somewhat unfair to the outnumbered because they essentially have that aspect of the game removed for them. Hence the reason for the discussion about ways to counter this.

Are you talking about the overall glicko system (that’s what I was talking about) or the in game score for that week’s current match up? If it’s the latter, then I wouldn’t be totally opposed to some sort of points scaling like you mention. However, that is a very delicate situation because with server A, if their efforts are being deflated due to facing an underpopulated server, is that really their fault?

If anything I would promote something that has been hashed out a ton, which is an outmanned buff that boosts points. This does two things, first boosts the points for the outmanned team (some percentage of takes like sentries and yaks) and maybe provide a capping point addition (not sure if they already reward points for capping towers and such). Second, as a side effect, the outmanned population is prompted to show up more because their presence matters more than the usual 50v5 they usually get and not being able to hold anything.

Sounds like a lot of players are getting their kicks out of taking empty forts guarded by npcs and then boasting about playing pvp.

If I understand you correctly, if I’m in server A and I’m roflstomping server B and C since they are empty, and only gain a small rating due to your point scheme, I will remain in that tier much longer than I should. If anything the points should bounce you higher with that degree of stomping to separate server A from B and C further so that never happens again.

No offense to SoR, they’re a great server, but I don’t feel that they should be tier one. When it was BG vs SoR vs TC, they consistently got stomped by BG. The only reason they started doing better in the rankings is because BG went up to tier one leaving SoR to fight a dead server and then weaker servers.

Honestly, not sure how we would do against BG. We were consistently stomped (and I use that term loosely looking at the stomping that Kaineng is doing, and we are participating in now) due to a lack of coverage in a particular timezone. We have since filled that time slot with needed guilds and I would love to test our servers once again in the near future.

Now enough speculation about match ups, I am truly interested in the formula changes that are ahead (being a mathematician myself). I think that the first couple of weeks will be somewhat unbalanced as people have stated, but the adjustment duration will solely rely on how Anet decides to make changes.

I had a really cool example of how I think the volatility will play out involving a rubber band and nails, but I have already posted enough :P Ultimately, I love WvW, I love killing people, I love taking SM even with all the lag, I love this game, and I will still be here after this is has all played out. Tarnished Coast, we have priorities next match. SOR wants to make it into tier 1 then let them earn it. We must Tier block them for one more round and hopefully the looming threat of either MAGUUMA or FA will replace SBI and then further block SOR’s rise. Once SOR is stuck here, their numbers will decrease slowly.

We are the last defense of Tier 2 WE MUST HOLD OUT one match longer! Let them regret throwing a match.

Well, either my reading comprehension has dissolved right before reading this thread or you are just simply not worth debating. I will go with the second one as it seems the more likely scenario.

The problem will be minimized soon, but corpse camping will probably still have to happen due to the stealth mechanic. This is especially true if there are multiple thieves in the keep all perma stealthed.

First, I stated that permanent stealth is possible via different combos and methods. That was merely an example of one as a rebuttal to your “there is no such thing as a perma stealth thief”.

Second, I already said Anet was fixing it because it is a problem and they recognize that.

Check yourself again, there is such a thing as a perma stealth thief (unless they removed the smoke + HS combo). In the case of mentioned combo, they remain perma stealth, as in no swirly black animation. There is also another combo I believe (could be wrong) but I do not know what that is at the moment.

Yes this does leave a smoke AoE on the ground and if you happen to be lucky enough to spot the spot where this is occuring (in a place like Bay this is difficult) then you either have to hunt him down. Or corpse camp the dead mesmers in your keep.

Anet has already mentioned that corpse camping should not exist in the game, and is taking measures to remove it because this does happen.

EDIT: and as a matter of fact, I have been on the receiving end of this rez as a necro. My body was in the middle of the BG garrison lord room and ONE THIEF had rezed me to about half with about 10-15 BG camping/AoEing around my body. It is ridiculous.

I really think it is more fun having good competition then moving to be in first. Like this first part of this week was really close and was some of the best WvW i’ve had so far in this game. Was a ton of fun.

You know honestly, I loved this tier’s battles up to this point. From the crazy close competition with SoS, to the month-long fight with BG, to the current situation, all of the fights have been challenging and fun!

Most importantly though is the amount of respect for each other this tier seems have in the forums. Sure, there is the occasional troll and sometimes heated rivalries, but I have yet to see this thread get shut down in a long time. Can’t really say that for T1, and I can’t speak for the other tiers but I really love this place.

If we keep T2 competitive and close, I personally would love just to stay here, whether we are green, blue, or red doesn’t matter. What matters is the fun along the way.

All this to say, I really hope you guys get some guilds as well to even out your coverage. You have worked hard as we have to get to this point and you deserve to be competitive here.

EDIT: And I won’t speak for all Rallians, but I feel that most of my friends here feel the same way. They are here for the battles, wherever they may be.

I have to tell you all, we came from IOJ, a server thats taking its last breath. We have offers to go to kaening, BG and others. We have a rep from being formally Totn. sanc etc.

We selected SoR because of the community on this server. They approached us to come over, we didnt approach them. They made a great pitch, we sat here on the server for a day with 2nd accounts watching the communication, the TS servers etc.

We put the vote to our guild, with all the offers we had and the guild vote was 100% to come here. It had nothing to do with placement or score. It was the best choice and best offer to us.

Bandwagon fans per say are those who just make a leap because someone or a team is winning, there is no thought behind it. We made a decision after emails and long talks with SoR.

We have made the best decision for us, sadly not so much for the rest of you

I am not sure who or what you are responding to, or maybe if you misunderstood something. I will respond to your post though to clarify what you are sort of asking.

Over the past couple of weeks a few things have happened to SOR regarding guilds (correct me if I am wrong anyone).

We lost an oceanic guild to BG.

We added a guild of roughly equal size this week from JQ. (havent played with them yet due to time zone differences)

We added a NA prime time guild, relatively small but extremely effective, from what I can see, from IOJ.

Did I miss anything anyone?

I believe it was two oceanics to BG, ND just happened to the larger and more recognizable of the two. I could be wrong, but I thought that was the case.

Also, some commanders have started waking up at like 2-3am CST (I believe Purp was mentioned here in the thread) in order to cover that early morning time slot a little more effectively. Thus we turned our mountainous NA crew into a more evenly spread out plateau.

I think everyone forgot to mention that quaggans throw up white swords on the enemy keeps they go up against, which can be valuable in that it makes it look like a ninja is going down. This also effects a waypointed keep by contesting it.

Following the T1 thread, BG is getting a lot of flak for their poor tactics on EB. A few posters mentioned they were fighting like they never fought in EB before, haha. Was pretty funny but dead on accurate assessment as they pretty much had free reign at T2 here.

Great fights all around. I’m not gonna lie, I shed a small tear when I woke up in the morning and we had not only our home BL garr, but SM too! I love the fact that we have similar coverage on all three servers, and I look forward to great fights throughout the week!

It would most certainly stop one thief from sniping a yak (or at least slow him enough to kill him). Usually we can have two to three people guarding a yak and the thief can burn the yak down almost faster than we can kill him. With the OP’s suggestion, the upgrade can actually serve a purpose.

Honestly, the theories behind all these scenarios can be summed up in one sentence.

Any server, regardless of standing, stands to gain from a 2v1 with either of the two other servers at any given moment in time and it is those that capitalize on this opportunity the most that will have a stronger outcome when the points are counted up.

Duels would help immensely with perfecting WvW builds between guild mates. I approve.

Attack is too much of a troll magnet. Similar reasons exist for those that wish to destroy existing siege to make way for more siege. If you want to make this applicable, the attack fee would have to be something unreasonable like 20g per person, and that 20g goes into a fund for the server for WvW purposes only. I just don’t see this happening.
