“Tyria will bow to a new master.” She says, knowing she’s defeated.
It is a bit strange that Scarlet would say that.
I think Scarlet understands the nature of the dragons, and possibly about the past cycle of dragons. Her short story strongly hints that she knows what the natural progression is about to lead to. Namely the dragons awakening and consuming all magic while destroying the world.
Her main goal, according to the short story is to redirect the forces that control the natural cycle of the world, and I think that includes how the dragons operate. She says she rejects dream or nightmare, and I think that duality is just an analogy for dragon vs civilizations.
On the face of it, it looks like Scarlet simply fell to nightmare (or dragons following our analogy). But the question I guess then. Is if Scarlet was fully corrupted and controlled to make her loose her prior goals. Or if Scarlet has indeed succeeded in redirecting the forces that control the nature of the dragons.
Lets understand the forces that are the dragons. They have been said to be more akin to forces of nature rather than a malevolent force. They are said to be solely intent on consuming as much magic as possible before going to sleep. To this end, they are lethal forces of a near apocalyptic scale. But they only exert control as a means for their primary goal of consuming magic. They control minions in order to supply magical artifacts for consumption, and then presumably to clear the way so that the dragon or its minions can safely consume the magic strewn about the world.
To say that Tyria will bow to a new master, and that master is an Elder Dragon is contrary to everything we know about them. That is like saying that a beach will bow down to a hurricane, that the hurricane will be the master of the people living there.
Since the death of Zhaitan, I think the natural order of the dragons are a bit out of balance. We have evidence that Scarlet has argued with Morde…(uh i don’t know how to spell that!). But as far as we know Elder Dragonss don’t converse, they are after all, simply forces of nature. The closest we even get to interact with Zhaitan is through its minions. Something seems off about Morde. That is what I want to say.
It seems that some of Zhaitan’s servants threaten that the PC and other allies would be subservient to Zhaitain at times. Perhaps that is similar to what Scarlet says. But I think that is just the distorted view of the minions. In Zhaitan’s case there is the detail that dead people do in fact end up serving Zhaitan, so those minions are simply saying you will die and become undead. Perhaps Scarlet saying bow down Morde, is just a distortion of the Morde’s intent through Scarlet’s mind, but what makes it striking is the way She clearly states that Tyria, as a whole, will bow down. That is distinct to the threat from Zhaitan’s minions in that it refers to the whole of Tyria rather than the player or other specific allies. And the fact that Scarlet does seem to be of mostly clear mind, beside the babble during the hologram fight, makes me trust the validity of her words more than that of a champion of Zhaitan.
I think Scarlet has unleashed something worse than an Elder Dragon. The forces of nature have been disturbed so much that what we thought we know about the dragons could soon be invalidated. But in a way, that may just save Tyria from total destruction.
And the answer is, exactly what we where told was there, just Ley Lines.
I think what Scarlet will find down there, is a plot point that comes out of nowhere.
Plus this, since is obviously what sticking a drill into a Ley Line does.
Actually I just have to say this, how… why? what???
Yeah…. that was disappointing.

A-net, now that I said it, you have to do it, the Grand High Sovereign commands it.
I think it is more of a case of, well the game doesn’t really animate or depict what that mace can really do to an Aetherblade. It takes discipline to learn to keep your mouth closed in a fight…
Edit: Well apparently he has had Captain attached to his name (according to the wiki) since the the Cutthroat Politics event. Except at vigil keep.
If that is his name in the Lions Arch instance, then why is there some previous screenshot-ed dialog that shows just his name?
Does Anet, just keep on flinging titles around and stripping them off of NPCs at random?
——————————————————————
Well, I guess the Vigil keep is before he becomes “Quartermaster Evon Gnashblade”
But why would he have the title Captain. That is a bit puzzling.
It appears some people hold that title in the Liongaurd http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Category:Lionguard.
The real question, however, is if the evacuation instance is supposed to be before or after Gnashblade’s deputizing.
The timelines is all screwed up since everything is happening in a strange repeated loop in there…
(edited by PseudoNewb.5468)
Yeah I guess not.
So, i got it in SOR recently, but i wanted to ask. Does anyone know if the 5AP from it is repeatable?
Hmmmm…. looks like the save the citizens rewards are broken.
I’ve gotten a standard Citizen’s Rescue Bag for the 100, 300, and 600 rewards…. but these appear to exist according to the wiki.
?Standard Citizen’s Rescue Bag
?Lesser Citizen’s Rescue Bag
Superior Citizen’s Rescue Bag
?Greater Citizen’s Rescue Bag
Ultimate Citizen’s Rescue Bag
So I suppose you are supposed to get lesser for 300 and superior for 600… but it ain’t working right.
Is this going to be fixed?
The gifts of exploration is tied to getting all the map completion chests. (hence the issue with members of the Order of Whispers, who never officially enter the ‘exploreable’ mode of the Chamber of Secrets to trigger the chest.)
I’m going to guess that the fact the Southsun and ETOM does not have a completion chest, there are some issues with if tabulating the area with the rest of the stats.
Evon Gnashblade - Hero of Lion's Arch
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

I’m certain Even has spent his time worrying about the destruction of Lion’s Arch to move the majority of hit operations to a safe place. You can see him pacing in and out of the BLTC all the time, probably looking out for hit couriers and shipments. No need for heroism in the face of danger, Evon is a hero for keeping the BLTC up and the champions of Tyria well stocked.
5 copper on bro-ham, that is, if Scarlet does gets pounded into sawdust first.
He is the one that shows the most passion for their group. He is certainly their glue. And I don’t think there is anything with more impact than shattering their group in their moment of triumph. Rox doesn’t need distractions from joining the Stone war band, and Taimi has grown way too attached to Braham way too fast.
My other theory is we don’t put Scarlet through a wood chipper… but that sound boring.
We all can agree that the poison being used for the attack on Lions Arch seems a bit silly. But I have to wonder if such poison could be used against the Pale Tree. Another tool Scarlet obtained from the tower of nightmares is the injector. She has one of them in her lair. Could it be used to inject toxin into the Pale Tree?
I think the ley lines are potential channels between the Pale Tree / dream and entities that may exist throughout Tyria. I think the pale tree expands it’s roots and connections to the land through the ley lines. The avatar of the tree itself explains that the tree reaches into the deepest parts of Tyria, with its roots deep in Tyria and it’s branches high into the dream. It is quite possible that these roots are entwined with many different entities in Tyria including the dark entity. The Pale Tree seemed to know much about the land of Orr in our personal story. There are probably countless things that the Pale Tree has encountered in the depths of Tyria.
I think it is Scarlet’s intent to separate the dark entity from the Pale Tree and therefore the dream. This, she hopes will free herself from it’s influences. It is quite possible that this is also the dark entity’s goals as it tries to free itself from the grasp of the Pale Tree. Deceptively tying the fruit of Ceara’s freedom with it’s own.
“It was then Ceara saw the thorn vine. It emerged from the roots at the base of the tree and began to climb, wrapping itself around the trunk and scoring the bark with its dusty red barbs”
Maybe this isn’t simply an abstract metaphor.
So… do you think Scarlet’s intent is to attack the Pale Tree?
If Scarlet’s tormentor comes from the dream of the pale tree, and the pale tree potentially connects to the deepest depths of Tyria. Could the pale tree be responsible for connecting Scarlet to her tormentor. If so could the poison be used to damage or sever the pale tree’s connection to Scarlet’s tormentor?
Do you think the leylines are fertile grounds for a magic entity like the pale tree to grow it’s roots?
Also, what do people suppose is Ceara’s wild hunt?
Doesn’t really matter if the zerg learned about the puddles… The puddles are capped, so playing it properly will only provide protection and increase damage for a few players. Just be happy that you can get your resist/reflect for the candy corn instead of praying to get the buff instead of the other guys.
Proof that they are capped? See what happens when a pool is laid under the boss’s feet and under the ball of melee players. You rarely get any stacks of the buff if you are standing in the middle of it.

I have to wonder, how much of the perceived difficulty is due to the continue coin mechanic? I completed world 2 solo, so I know it is doable, but the question is did I lose too many continue coins for my comfort?
If you run a deficit on continue coins, the game will feel harder, because you will feel that you failed more than you can in order to continue playing. The continue coin mechanic adds more frustration to deaths and really ratchets up the tension for not wanting to die.
If anything needs to be balanced, I think it simply needs to be the number of lives. Each zone rewards 1 continue coin and 2 baublebaubles, theoretically the 2 baublebaubles can be converted into 10 continue coins for 11, but the reward baubles are really to allow the player to buy skins right? I think as it is, continue mechanics allow players to break even per run (if they want to use thier baublebaubles to buy more continue coins). I think this is where the real issue about difficulty arises.
In the rest of GW2 I still die quite a bit, and every time I die it costs me a few silver. However, in the rest of GW 2 I am still earning a lot more coin than I am spending on WP and repairs. This feeling of always making progress tempers death in the game as a small setback in progress. SAB world 2 on the other hand, feels like a constant fight to preserve your last remaining lives and a losing battle against running out of retries. I believe that this hemorrhaging of continue coins is really what people are talking about when they call SAB difficult.
Speaking of hemorrhaging continue coins, anyone know the trick for W2-3’s boss. I kinda just won by luck and dying a lot…

Finished up to 2-2 and these are my comments.
The one thing I would look at…
The pagoda with the gong is a bit of a mess.
1. Fighting and avoiding darts is frustrating because I can’t move around to dodge without running into darts. And the assassins require good dodging to avoid damage, but I am forced to sit there and absorb damage unless I want to roll into darts.
2. The gong is too hart to walk around, it is big and bounces the player off of it (or simply block the player) too much. In some places you have to transition to the other side of the gong in the span between two beams. I bounce of the back of it when trying to walk around it and can’t keep up with it after moving to the other side. And frankly, the best way to do the gong is, hit it, then die so that you can wait for it at the bottom floor.
I don’t know if making the insta kill walls discrete is a good idea. Especially when they span across a large area. In some cases they become nearly impossible to spot, because you are too far away from them, but they will still kill you. Perhaps the opposing pillar of a dart trap should have some darts stuck them, that would be nice.
Another idea, is if you want them to be impassible, they can knock you back, instead of insta kill you.
One you get massive amounts of rares, you can start eating your ectos. I hear they are good on crackers.
I will again say though – there are MORE people harassing farmers than the other way around.
To be fair, however, the farmers have no reason to complain because they get their way most of the time in the events. While the people who want to kill Scarlet rarely get the chance to.
The people who want to defeat Scarlet are getting frustrated by the game mechanics, while the people who want to farm, I don’t know why they harass others.
They need underflow instances where people can join from multiple servers to boost instance population.
Unfortunately the logic to put people in such an instance isn’t as straightforward as overflow…
Aetherblade events and captains complete much faster with 3-5 people. May I suggest, instead, to try and complete 2-3 other aetherblade events with a small group while the farmers are bogging themselves down in one of them. Unfortunately aethers captains can’t be soloed as far as I can tell. (I tried, got destroyed).
Only atherblade event completion counts towards aetherblade progress. Kill count doesn’t matter. The objective for people who want to succeed is to clear as many aether events as fast as possible.

Uhm, I don’t know what people are complaining about browser compatibility and standards, I checked the video, and it is using a normal html 5 video tag with video/mp4 content.
It should work in Firefox if you are using a recent non-free OS.
It should work in IE but we are talking about IE, so I had to use compatibility view for some bizarre reason probably due to it being IE.It doesn’t work on my Windows 7 x64 w/Firefox. Nothing is displayed but a box with a speaker icon in the upper left corner. There is no video.
Sorry to hear that. I guess it is supposed to work.

But one can’t argue with reality.
Any ways it isn’t too difficult to expose the direct link to the content.

(Don’t know if they are persistent but they work for me, for now…)
Maybe those will work better if your browser can display mp4 but not vine’s video tagged mp4s for some reason.
Hmm peculiar thing, it worked on my firefox 12.0 (out of date), but I clicked the update button, and now it acts like internet explorer does… Perhaps vine has an issue with it’s java script, because the video tags look fine.
Try the embed version, it looks like it isn’t screwed up with the scripting. (embed doesn’t have autoplay so you have to click).

If there was a group generator I would try it. Put your name in the hat and the computer puts 5 players together to do it. Fine, no looking for a group, just go, win or fail so be it.
They should just throw in a single-person ‘easymode’ you can do for the story arc, but will only have a chance of receiving the loot from the one time.
Why don’t they combine these ideas. Instead of a single player mode, they should make a randoms mode, that blunts the need for coordination in ways… I dunno. (maybe remove the waypoint restrictions for team combat. Alter aggro AI and damage distribution so that you don’t need to worry so much about aggro control. Hell make randoms mode a 6 person mode so that there is a chance that one more guy can pick up the slack). Cut the rewards probabilities of drops for being easier. (But it really isn’t easier, since you are playing with randoms and lack proper coordination).
Then make a matchmaking system (might as well make it cross server too, in case of low population and to make it harder to game the system) to populate this mode of the dungeon. This should also be the only way to gain access to this easier mode.
The drop penalty should be good enough to discourage coordinated players from trying to game the system into putting them together in the randoms mode. (maybe like 1/5th so each random completion combined rewards of all 5 players only generates as much rare+ rewards as a single person would get in the regular mode.) If you are coordinated enough to trick the system, you might as well be playing regular mode.
I don’t think the complaint about partying is really about wanting to play solo, but about how much one may not want to go to the chat to look for a party. With a matchmaking system, you don’t have to do that. You just get an option to just tell the game, I’ll just play with a completely random party. And the players will know that they won’t play very well, but they will also know that the dungeon will be balanced accordingly.
