Even in regular pve it’s bad in comparison to most classes, of course the class till shred through everything but it’s honestly far from being glorious.

In fractal/dungeon it’s honestly terrible. The class barely brings anything to the table and this is my main problem. To be honest i’m pretty sad as i find the one handed sword hilarous to use and pressing f2 with my river drake.

I’m glad i only made a ranger as a test in order to see by myself if all the tears around that class were as unjustified as the necro.

Can’t do guild missions, at least not for a while. I basically count this as non existing content. Seems fun though.

Daily change is good, i don’t have an issue with it.

New ascended gears are a joke, not only does it hurts your behind if you can’t buy them with the guild mission rewards because it’s a locked content, but the price when using laurels is ridiculous, i don’t even know why they would randomly ask for ectos.

Also please add full valkyrie as a stat for ascended items please, i don’t want to use the infamous berz/valk mix, i’d rather just have 2/4 full valk pieces so i can easily switch between full zerk and semi zerk/valk.

Legendary Frenzy still not fixed, probably the same for Kraitkin. Just pointing it out, definitly not a major issue.

Spy kit nerfed, actually it was a pleasant surprise. Good job. Now do the same to skale venom that is 645864564 better than the thief utility skill using the same name.

Omnomderpies nerf. Great change.

TP preview, good addition aswell.

AC rework, no idea yet, especially as i don’t have much incensitive to visit that dungeon since i can’t trade token for ectos as i could by doing hotw/cof/coe/etc. But it’s probably a welcomed change anyway and i appreciate the effort.

sPvP changes, couldn’t care less, but it seems fine overall, new maps are always welcome and the tournament changes seems good.

Spark elemental model change is nice. Yes, i know it doesn’t matter and that it’s just a reskinned karka but i like it.

Not a bad patch, actually it is a good patch on paper, i just honestly think it was slightly ruined by some pretty strange design decisions.

They either need to bring every class that aren’t warrior/guardian/mesmer to that level, or they need to nerf those 3 classes, of course that mean to split pve/pvp skill as warrior are kinda meh in pvp (need buffs).

And no, it’s not only a issue in cof1, it’s a issue in every single dungeon of the game.

Thieves are ok for pve.

Sure they are subpar when you can just run the well known utterly broken warrior/guardian/mesmer party but good thieves still offer incredible dps be it at range or melee, can hardly die and have some good utilities like sr, blinding wall, blinding powder (if fighting trash) or cluster combos (aoe might / heals / etc).

I hate fighting in the water and so do it as little as possible. Which led me to an interesting discovery just now:

When did they take Steal away from water combat?! I have a giant locked skill icon instead of the ability to Steal when in the water now… At least in WvW.

It’s a bug, at least i hope so because if it’s intentional it’s pretty bad game design.

Basically some steal skills can’t be used underwater, if you happen to have one when going underwater you’ll be greeted with that lock. You then have to go out of water, waste your stolen skill and go back.

A crappy picture of frenzy, was taken in the dark to show the new boiling aura, how it looks in the dark and effects on a video i’ll probably upload tomorrow.

The changes to that weapon were:

-An explosion (like burst of boiling water around the weapon) when drawn along with a swarm, and i mean it, of fish rushing toward the weapon.

-Boiling water around your character

-The fish popping mechanic was massively changed, FAR more noticeable than before and visually more pleasant.

It’s bugged atm since it sometimes reverts to the old effects (meaning no aura, old popping mechanic) but i’m overall really pleased with the changes.

Speargun update:

-The popping fish animation is more visible, and isn’t centered around the weapon
-There’s a boiling effect around you.

Bug: It feels the weapon go back to frenzy 1.0 after random weapon switch.

Kinda happy as it’s not a “in your face” effect but i still believe it deserve a nicely done projectile change.

Despise the hate for kudzu (probably due to people hating the whole nature theme), it’s easily one of the legendary with the most effects of the game (along with frostfang) so using it as a comparison saying it’s lackluster is kinda unfair to begin with.

As for The Dreamer, the “glass” parts of the weapon have a flowing effect but you pretty much need to zoom in to notice it…
There’s also a annoying horse sound when you fire.
I’d agree it deserve rainbow footprints, personally i’m not a huge fan of footprints (incinerator and frostfang are the only one looking decent imo, bifrost is bearable though) but whatever.

At least it’s not The Howler/Ministrel… and is not lacking projectile changes like Frenzy (this weapon is still pretty decent effect wise though)

Tengus, kodans and largos are pretty much the strongest candidates for futur expansions so far. I actually believe largos have a huge chance to be added in the bubble expansion.

My opinion of underwater combat

Underwater combat is actually enjoyable for me and i honestly don’t understand the hate, it has some issue, some major to be honest but it’s definitly not bad. I didn’t encountered a single “invulnerable” mob in a long time (i can’t say the same on land) and the weapons are generally far more interesting (warrior might be an exception, didn’t tried yet, but it looked kinda dull and the speargun a bit out of place).

I think the biggest issue is the lack of utility skills available underwater, every utility/elites that aren’t useable underwater should have an underwater version.

There are some annoying issues like the steal bug. As a thief, if you stole an item that isn’t useable unerwater, you will basically have to go out of water, use that skill and go back… There’s also and issue with the skills that pulls YOU to your target as they stun YOU for a while (making it pretty much as bad as the thief d/p dual skill). You should also be able to use underwater skills when your at the top of the water instead of that nonsensical “swim mode”.
Underwater has a huge potential imo but anet themselves kinda did everything to pull people away from it.

I hope they will realize mixing land and underwater combat at the same time is actually pretty fun (the wvw fort allowing this is the best wvw area) and could open some interesting mechanics, a boss that you would fight on two battlegrounds were underwater and on land people would have to cooperate to bring it down would be an example.

You can easily make 6-8g per hour by farming some specific spots. In one month you could get around 360-480g by playing 2 hours per day which isn’t that hard to pull off, i realize it’s not something most people enjoy doing though.

Basically you could get a cheap legendary (underwater/howler/ministrel) in half a month if you already started stacking karma jugs. A decently priced one would take 2, an expensive one two and an half.

If you know how to play the market, it’s even faster.

There’s an high chance the scavenger hunt will actually either make the price of the precursor drop or stabilize it once and for all which could either reduce the time, slightly increase it, or stabilize it as of now)

In all honesty, i’d say by playing really casually (doing a bit of dungeons, grinding, wvw) 6-8 month for the most expensive ones is pretty much accurate as long as you know how to manage your money smartly.

Nope it’s my only legendary, i actually don’t plan on getting another one atm as i find the other choice available for my thief not in my taste or overclassed (with the exception of the shark spear but i’d like a non underwater one aswell if possible), not saying they are fugly (they aren’t) but i have regular skins i like better so i don’t see the point of getting one as showing off isn’t my goal (why would i anyway?), i just want skins i like.

I’m indeed planning on crafting another one but i’m pretty much waiting for a new batch of legendaries right now. And this one will be crafted casually, which means 6 month of gameplay unless they release ascended gears with even more ridiculous requirement :p

If the new legendaries aren’t to my taste then i’ll simply wait another batch, etc.

That’s actually a pretty nice change.

I think they are updating them one by one or something so they are more up to par with the greatsword/juggernaut, i’m pretty sure they added a breathing animation on frostfang recently (prior to the Dec 3rd patch).

Don’t you feel at least a little bit like you’re trolling yourself?

I mean a Legendary is all about Prestige and yet people will rarely get to see your weapon.

Gratz though.

Not really. I had no skin i (i insist on the I) liked more than frenzy for the speargun, which definitly wasn’t the case for sword, pistols, dagger or shortbows and their legendary version. The choice was then easy really.

My second legendary choice would’ve been the underwater spear btw :p

I finished crafting the legendary speargun today.
The model looks pretty good imo and i like the fish popping around me, it was definitly worth it for me.

Effects included in that legendary:

-Water flowing inside the speargun.
-Little blue bubbles and big purple bubbles popping near the weapon.
-Fish swimming around the weapon, only works when not moving though (Bug? Would be so much worth it if they popped non stop, i need a trail of fish behind me)
-(updated, not shown in the video): The fish actually follow you around if you stay close enough to them, otherwise they just swim randomly around before disappearing. Those isolated fish will start following you again if you come close to them (but end up disappearing soon since those fish lives a short life).

I would like to thanks:

- My guildmates for lending me 6g in order to buy those last icy runestones today and helping me farming hotw and some other stuff.
- Gandara WvW population for fun battles while collecting the badges of jumping… yeah i got 1/3 by jumping.
- Guild Lords/Guild supervisors for being the best source of badge outside the jumping puzzle, almost always dropping 2.
- The people i played with while farming hotw for the gift of the sanctuary.
-The people in Orr and Southsun Cove that made farming far less boring that it should’ve been (not that i hate grinding though :p).

Went from 80 to 250 of two T6 mats in 6 days, farmed around 4-5h per day to achieve such results.

Still ridiculous but I just wanted to bring some actual facts.

Well you wanted to grind, nothing ridiculous about this. If you were patient and didnt want your legenadry in 3-4 months, you could easyly farm one hour a day and have it in year or more.

And by the way, maybe gold, material farming is not fun for you, but for many it is. I do enjoy farming 100x more than doing story quests. !!!!!!
If I wanted to play story driven game, I wouldnt play MMORPGs, I would play Assasins creed, Mass effect, skyrim. If I wanted to play skill based game now, I woud play Dota 2, FPS games.

So once again…
Legendary weapons were created as long term goal.

I actually enjoy grinding. Wouldn’t have spent that much time per day otherwise.

Just said it was ridiculous because it’s clear someone who hate grinding (or trading) will pretty much never get one. Not that it’s an issue in my eyes though but i get why they would be angry/disappointed.

Frenzy screenshots incoming sunday night or monday for those interested in that legendary btw (probably few :p)

It’s harder actually.

Precusor still the same.
Gift of fortune went from around 150+g to 380+g (still increasing).
Some lodestone decreased in price (destroyers) but legendary using those are still harder to make than before.

I only have one issue with this map and it’s not the size (it’s small but it’s not the main issue).

There’s a lack of DE, and especially a lack of grindy DE (read plinx, the three camps, tactician megill, etc…).

The reason cursed shore is farmed non stop is because it’s filled with those kind of event that actually rewards you with tons of loot, tons of mats, tons of rare and you can run them pretty much non stop for karma.

The event currently available in this map are definitly not grindy, there’s a lack of event on top of that.
It’s a shame since karkas, drake and sharks (actually there’s a load of shark so it might be a good farming spot if you just seek T6 scales) are a great source of T6 blood/scales/claws which could be an incesitive to leave cursed shore a bit.

First people cry about bots. When bots are finally banned, people cry about not being able to buy cheap mats the bots had been farming in bulk.

I always considered bots to be a blessing in almost every single mmo’s i ever played.
In the other hand, traders are the plague.

Very nice, now we just need someone to make Legendary Warhorn (Howler) and Harpoon Gun (Frenzy). BTW can you make a video of Kamohoali’i Kotaki in action?

I’m working on frenzy (far from having it though), if anything keeps going as it is, it should be finished mid/end december. But someone will probably finish before me anyway.

The howler was already crafted and the only effect if i remember was a barely noticeable glowing moon appearing when using a skill.

I hesitated with that spear legendary, and i have to say that this shark looks pretty good, and almost exactly how i actually expected it to look. Grats.

How to farm Armored Scale?

Farm the kraits in wvw (the one underwater in the regular battlegrounds).

There was several bots last time i went there, so i ended up farming to see if there was something valuable and I ended up with 3 armored scale in 5 minutes killing those kraits.
I might have been lucky though.

-New dungeons
-New end game maps
-New story + bosses
-New (actually rewarding) activites (reworking/balancing inquisition pvp mode would have been a good idea, more clocktower like jumping puzzle)
-New pvp modes/maps
-New legendaries (including armor) and ways to aquire them (read epic quest for precursor or something)
-New mystic forge recipe (rare skins, pets or utility items, even a mount would be more worthy than those new armors that just says it all)
-New crafting recipes
-New (actually challenging with chance of failure and more rewarding) world bosses in pretty much every maps. Reworking the old ones would be a good idea.
-Random wvw updates to keep it fresh

New gears isn’t a good answer to end game. Everyone dedicated enough will get them in 1 week and quit again because there’s pretty much nothing to do with them.

1 – can prevent capping while in stealth.

Doesn’t prevent capping in s/tpvp. In WvW you just need to spam auto attacks all over the place and the thief is dead in no time. I realize the 30 people around you are never aware of it but if they actually had a clue it wouldn’t be such an issue.

2 – can finish from stealth.

Black powder stomp are arguably stronger than stealth stomp. Mist form or elixir S (i think it’s S) stomps are far more op.

3 – can rezz in stealth.

Again you know the thief is here, auto attack, they will both die. And again engi + ele use an utility skill and laugh.

4 – permanent stealth due to culling in W v W.

This one i agree, it is pretty broken.

I quicky learnt i basically didn’t have an elite underwater as a thief, and even if it gets fixed it will still be the case.

Sword Main Hand:

Auto Chain: Faster or more damage.

Sword auto is already the highest-damage auto thieves possess, depending on your condition damage. It also hits up to 3 targets and causes two powerful control conditions. It does more DPS than Pistol Whip, which you said was at a good point for DPS.

I agree, i actually forgot to remove that suggestion as i did with the dagger auto attack damage increase (which has been changed to “good”).

Vital Shot: Slightly more damage
Body Shot: Complete rework
Stealth Skill: Good

Pistol Off Hand:

Headshot: More damage or more utility (maybe add some confusion on top of the daze), personally i’d love a bit of conufsion.
Black Powder: Good skill.

Pistol Dual skills:

Shadow strike: I’m honestly ok with it, maybe more damage/bleed stacks/poison.
Unload: Need something but i couldn’t say what. (I dislike p/p as a whole since the set makes no sense at all, no synergy, nothing, garbage set imo).

Sword Main Hand:

Auto Chain: Good.
Infiltrator Strike: Good skill.
Stelth Skill: Good.

Sword Dual Skills:

Pistol Whip: Damage is fine imo (if you take in account you evade and stun), either need to be faster or useable while moving. Haste/Devourer venom are far to much mandatory for this skill to be effective.
Flanking Strike: Dan Hibiki of GW2, complete rework.

Dagger Main Hand:

Auto Chain: Good.
Heartseeker: Good, people crying over this seriously have a l2p issue.
Stealth skill: Far to strong, need a damage nerf and maybe add several bleed stack as a compensation (could also make condition based build happier)

Dagger Off Hand:

Crippling Dagger: Good
C&D: Reduce the damage output slightly.

Dagger Dual Skills:

Shadow Shot: Remove the self root, a gap closer is supposed to be used to chase, this skill just don’t cut it right now.
Death Blossom: Faster animation (less evade potential), more damage maybe.

GodBow:

Godly weapon.

Spear Gun:
Ink Shot: Faster
Piercing shot: More damage
Stealth Skill: More damage + bleed stacks.

Spear:

Throw Line: Remove the self root (this applies to several other classes aswell)
Shadow assault: Faster animation (less evade time, less ini regen between each casts)

Utility skills:

Blinding powder: Less CD, maybe even stunbreaker, no reason to take it over SR since release, it’s even worse now with sr losing the only drawback it had in comparison.

SR: Nerf, revert the recent change.

Signet of shadow: Terrible active, terrible passive which was obviously implemented in order to give the class perma “swiftness” and mobility in a lazy way. Revert to 10% and give us back our immobilize. Change traits in order to give more reliable swiftness.

Caltrops: Reduce either the radius or duration or both, godly skill.

Haste: Change it to “Your next attack goes 1.5 time faster and you move 200% faster for X seconds, lose half of your endurance, stunbreaker”. REMOVE QUICKNESS FROM THE GAME ONCE AND FOR ALL (this imply rework on other classes)

Traps in general: Need buffs/changes.

Elites:

Thief guild: They follow me underwater, let them use a spear and a speargun please, maybe nerf them a bit damage wise.
Basilisk Venom: 1.5s stun on 45s cd with 1s cast time, Elite skill. Need i say more? The least you can do is making it instant cast. Otherwise only worth being used with venom share build (wait no, thief guild) and backstab build (nerf incoming).

Traits:

Mug: Damage nerf
Potent poison: increase the duration of the conditions, probably need to change the tier of the trait as a result.
Sundering Strike: Warrior does the same but don’t give a kitten about inner cd and apply the same condition for 7s instead of 5s on top of it, what? Buff or rework.
Improvisation: Random = terrible, complete rework.

Critical Haste: Remove quickness. Rework this trait.

Power Shots: Either add more range to the shortbow on top of it, or up the % damage gain from this trait. Or rework it.

Assassin’s Retreat: Meh… Look! a good trait to rework to add some deserved swiftness while reverting shadow signet.

Ricochet: 5% chance, seriously… the trait could be good on paper but the chance are so low it might aswell not be there. Buff this to 20-30% or something.
Sleight of hand: Buff to 1.5/2s daze or add “Steal is now unblockable”).

Arachnophobia was already at like 60g last time i looked at it. It will probably be worth 150/200g pretty soon.

The crafting formula is fine, people just wasted their luck by selling them at 20g.

After like 35-40 runs:

-4 Random exotics
-2 BLSK
-10 Fine transmutation stones
-Lots of bags (special mention to the charged and crystal cores from two of them)
-Lots of greens

2 other people i usually run with got even less or slightly more, but still no halloween skins.

Conclusion: People selling arachnophobias at 20+g don’t realize how lucky they were and are pretty much wasting tons of money right now, same goes for mad moon and the crossing.

This skill is honestly elite worthy with the recent changes.

I honestly don’t get why they made it possible to leave it without breaking out of stealth, it was pretty much the biggest difference between sr and blinding powder.
