Wanted to add that it’d be nice if we just could get the tokens or w/e they’r called. So we can at least craft the backpiece.

I think that a normal Fractal chest could be a great option, having the same RNG. We can also make system with different ‘levels’ when repeating the track. The more you repeat, the higher your fractals chest level becomes. Also, make the track longer, else it’s unfair for PvE… Can’t believe i care about them, but ok.

Why does this leaderboard even exists, when you’re getting several 4v5 matches?

Don’t come up with the argument ‘everyone get’s this’, because this just doesn’t fit together and Anet isn’t going to fix it.. It doesn’t seem like they’re going to, in my opinion.

Do you really want to stay in a que for hours because no other rank 1-100 leaderboard player is playing?

Or should the game assign you to random team based on whoever is queing up, even though chances are a 1-100 leaderboard player will be assigned to play with or against someone that’s like 95% on leaderboard.

Even though it takes 12+ straight wins to get from 95% to 1-100 on leaderboard.
So the gap isn’t small, that’s a huge gap even though it appears small. That’s a lot of consequective wins you have to make happen.

However, I’d rather have the game assign me with bunch of random people than have to wait hours in que. It’s not the game, its nobody queing up to make it so the system can work as intended. When you have less than .2% of the population that watchs MAJOR GW2 tournaments, that tells you about the population of PvP. Don’t forget, theres a lot of PvE’ers in watching too, which makes that % of population even less than how small it already is, .002 or .2%, 2000/1000000. ALSO, some of that is from European players, which don’t count towards NA player pool, so EVEN MORE small.

I have better things to do rather than wait in que for hours for the game to assign me a perfectly matched game.

Ive played with the OP before….and even if he plays with and vs top 50 players (guys that will always be higher rated than he is) he will spam chat how he is getting matched with new players or pveers.

His behaviour is also known as the dunning Kruger effect:

However, it has been shown lately by other players evidence that some teams will get stacked with high lb rank players vs players barely on leaderboards.

I find that most times if you play an op build and do good yourself, you will influence your team to do good as well, this usually happens.

So if your playing some kitten build like med guardian, and dying in matter of seconds because they glassy and squishy, that’s why your losing games because you get owned way too fast and not contributing to fight due to you getting eliminated off the bat and making a 4v4 into a 3v4. Suggest if your playing guardian to goto AH build, much better in team fights, however if your team goes stupid on you and leaves you to 1v1 someone, especially when they can knock you off the node every 30 seconds or so, well that’s pretty much the only weakness to AH guardian, being stuck 1v1 vs some ranger with stupid knockback or engy with knockback or some class that’s a 1v1 strong. AH guard aren’t meant to 1v1 but your team don’t know so, you gotta play to what your build is, sometimes you just have to give up a node even though your team is going to get kittened because 1v1ing all day long isn’t going to get you anywhere as an AH guardian.
You have to play good, to make your team good, if you play bad, your team becomes bad. You have to remember your 20% of that team.

The current rewards are fine but kind of restrictive.

I do think there should be some PvP venders that reward you based on your rank, but apposed to the old glory method we just use gold and skillpoints, but we get actually good stuff depending on our rank something that puts you further into the economy but still syncs your gold from the economy. like at r80 2g and a few skill points for a box for a random exotic.

sure most of the players can sometimes make 3 gold profit from a box like that (or a lot more on a precursor drop) but not every random PvEr who casually PvPs would have access to that kind of trade off funds.

maybe ascneded crafting matts or t6 matts like the way laurels do it.

Also avg WvW vs avg pvper does get better rewards if you calculate time spent, sure your not getting skill points and tomes but you get karma and actual exp.

I don’t know what PvP boxes you’re opening, but I never get 1-2g from them.

I agree that the top PvPers are rich, well earned. They have spent time in GW2, so they deserve it. I also agree that the lower level of PvP are barely earning money. When I was playing active at a decent level back in the days, PvP wasn’t rewarding. Reason why I stopped it. If I kept playing, guess I could’ve been rich, but at that time it wasn’t worth it since we waited FOREVER to get some decent rewards.

Problem as a PvPer; you barely make gold, so you nearly can’t get the outfit you’d like… And then you’re broken, means you got to save again since the little you had is gone… Are we ever gonna be getting a chance to make some decent gold like the masters of the pve universes?

Gem Purchase track: The more real money you spend, the more nice rewards you get. Example of total money spent rewards:

1. $10 – 1BL Key
2. $25 – 3Bl Key
3. $50 – 5BL key + Mini pack of choice + “Black Lion Partner” title.
4. $100 – Ascended weapon box OR a free weapon skin unlock of any BL kit.
5. $150 – Ascended armor box OR a free armor skinpack. + “Black Lion Merchant” title.
6. $200 – AN Supporter Superpack (lots of choseable goods)
7. $350 – “Black Lion Trader” title.
8. $500 – “Black Lion Broker” title
9. $1000 – AN Supporter Gigapack (Also unlocks stuff you wouldn’t bother to get anyway, like Glorious armor skins) + “Black Lion Millionaire” title

When are you going to do this? Because I just played some, can’t call it a match, with lagspikes for 15secs. Also can’t call it a match because 2 turret engi, procfest ranger and bad meta.

But.. But… I worked hard for my meteorlogicus in PvE and my Ele is enjoying it very much

I have no idea who this Nova Stiker guy is, but it is rather sad how bad “pro” eles are. Thaddeus, Skovex, Phantaram, they all seem to basically be at the same level of elementalist as someone who has played it for a month. Now, I don’t generally see better eles because the class is so easy to play and offers no incentive to get better, but hey, that’s what this game is about now. #celewars2 for the next 6 months until feature patch 3.

How are you supposed to beat any type of engi/insert condi class here without cleansing water? You could argue Tpvp isn’t about 1v1s but then what if you get focused in a team fight, which will happen vs a good team once they find out you’re running a yolo triple arcane build. Other than signet, what are you going to run? Ether? Lol what a joke. It’ll get you killed for sure. Glyph is probably 2nd worst heal in the game.

I agree with you, but I didn’t want to take GvG as example… We already know that GvG was the best thing ever. So I tried to do it in a different way. Also, didn’t had much time.

OMG following smurf guilds was hilarious! For anyone who doesn’t know, those are guilds the top teams represented when they wanted to try out some new build, whether to see if it worked, or because it was some sort of insane hilarious gimmick build they were trying just for fun (such as double Curse of Rodgort + Greater Conflagration + a minionmancer for insane aoe burning!) It was really hard to identify them because most people used 2nd accounts to smurf on, but sometimes there’d be a couple of people playing on their primary account so you could spot them.

Of course, you wouldn’t need second accounts to do it in GW2 cause people could just represent a different guild. So if Cheese Mode wanted to play 5xThief just for a laugh, they could tag up to Smurf Wars [tag] and play without affecting their team rating. Or if you and 4 pvper friends are in a big PvE guild, you can get together and form a separate guild of your own, so that when your casual guildies play they won’t have to face top-100 teams cause you dragged up their rating. And you can compete seriously without leaving the pve guild you met in, just change tags when you’re competing seriously. The multiple guild system is PERFECT for the guild ladder system we had in GW1! It solves all the problems that we had in GW1 in fact!

Oh and yeah, I agree that gvg was the best thing ever, but this system would work perfectly well with conquest too

The reason I am not playing with a team anymore for nearly a year, is because we can TPvP but not play the tournies like TOG, ESL etc. We should create more opportunities to play (and gamemodes, but that’s coming I heard) to create the enthusiasm that we had in GW1 PvP. It had two essential things; different modes and different play times (pointing out to GvG) so a team can choose on what days they regularly play.

The reason you had more opportunities to play in GW1 was because the tournaments were not open enrolment: your guild could only get an invitation by getting to the top of the ladder. Therefore, every single GvG you played mattered because it got you points and helped you improve your rating. It mattered whether you played on a Monday or a Thursday or a Sunday, and it mattered whether you played at 4am or in prime time.

In GW2, otoh, only the Thursday tournaments, and the qualifiers for WTS feel like they “matter”. You could be slumming it on the 50% of the leaderboards by tanking your rank, and you’ll still go to Beijing if you play well at the qualifiers. So the way you play day in day out doesn’t feel like it matters, it just feels like practice. And there’s only so much practice you can do without an immediate sense of reward and achievement before burning out. Sure, you can climb up the leaderboard, but, unlike GW1, the leaderboard doesn’t matter for tournament purposes, so people who aspire to tournament-level competition don’t feel like they’re rewarded. And if they have to play several lengthy rounds of qualifiers, and they get knocked out because one of their members couldn’t make one day of qualifiers, or any other reason, I think that’s so disheartening it would make a lot of people quit, as happened with CM.

If guild-based rankings/leaderboards were introduced, and the format for big tournaments was changed from open enrolment to invitation according to ladder rank, I think it would do a lot to build up people’s incentives to play more on a daily basis. It would help prevent burnout and make daily matches matter more to people.

I would like to add my opinion to this.

For me the ESL tournies take way too much time.. I liked as example the way the tournies were set in GW1, timer and when you’re not ready then it’s game over. I can’t play them mostly because it’s taking quite a while..

2nd thing I’d like to tell is that we have it two times a week on tuesday and thursday. That’s good! But it would be great if we do different days per week, because I and some others I know, can’t play on these days. If it could be possible that we get each week two different days to play it, that would maybe attract more people into PvP.

I am not saying that the current setup of ESL isn’t good, but this is my opinion. Not just because I can’t play it right now.
