I don’t think I’ve opened a total of 100 random drop chests and got a ticket. Don’t even really like the skins either, at least not what my mesmer can use.
Rng gonna rng I guess. Best way would be to make tickets tradeable.
Scepter in PvE? Better than GS? I don’t know what you’re smoking but I sure as hell want some.
There is no possible way in ANY possible scenario of PvE that scepter is better. There simply is not.
Have you tried Orr farming with scepter? You tag 3 mobs with autoattacks and then they all die. I tag all mobs with IZerker. And don’t even get me started on confusion’s reliability in PvE.
You are entitled to an opinion but it is factually wrong.
I was going to post the same thing but for some reason the Living Story forum section doesn’t let me.
I thought I had enough time to finish Secret Contact just to find out that this is no longer the case. And because of a typing error no less.
Simply unfair and unprofessional.
I find the GS much better since the last buff. Staff’s condition application is subject to heavy rng. I find that I can output more consistent dps with GS via the increased dmg and more reliable application of bleed via crits.
Staff is still my favorite weapon though.
I’d argue it’s a bug though we can’t be sure since ANet didn’t bother to give a statement on it.
Actually they don’t give statements on any situation like this, it seems.
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that at least some involvement with the community with regards to what is/is not a bug would be greatly appreciated.
Seeing this stickied just confirms my suspicions on the direction ANet wants to take mesmers. And I don’t like it.
Just remove the god kitten thing and be done with it. This skill has caused so much controversy that I’d happily see it go in an instant. I’m sick of getting nerfed to hell and back. We are already lacking in so many areas and bugged in the rest. There is little reason beyond portal/shatter burst to even bring a mesmer along. This is not balancing, this is going the WoW route, homogenizing classes until nobody is unique and everyone does everything. We may not be there yet, but mark my words, if we do not stop it now, history WILL repeat itself.
This is beyond stupid. If they do this, I might just retire my mesmer and seeing as it’s the only class I like, might even consider quitting.
They are going the WoW route, instead of balancing, they are homogenizing classes. Everyone will do everything.
There’s already little reason to bring a mesmer along instead of another class.
You have NO idea how much this saddens me.
so shouldn’t they change that? it’s quite misleading and useless.
Because the mesmer is not on their priority list.
How about a Mantra of Distraction.
Passive: +15% movement speed (wouldn’t want mesmer to actually be fast like all other classes or anything, just a small band aid because mesmer op stuff!!!11)
Active: Stealths you for 1 second. Usable twice.
Would give us a tool confuse enemies mostly by removing their target and blending in with clones.
Oh and the passive is not in effect while not charged. Because mesmers are too op dealing 19k dps and havig so many utilities fighting 15 people at once bursting anyone destroying everything portaling everyone confusing anyone damaging applying conditions buffing everyone……..
You get the idea.
So people found out about Signet of the OP Mesmer? Kittens…
Uhhhh, you sure that was a mesmer? Like, really sure? 100%?
Because the mesmer has 1 knockdown(unless I’m missing something here) and you can’t do conditions AND shatter burst at the same time. Am I getting trolled here?
Blame Osicat for making the build available to everyone and their cat. It’s also ANet’s pet spec, the one that keeps getting buffed while condition dmg mesmers like myself struggle and get nerfed.
Main hand pistol and scepter reworked into a cone attack/defensive type weapon based on blocking and/or reflecting.
I challenge you to play a mesmer for any amount of time. Go ahead, play a shatter mesmer a bit. Then come back and read what you wrote. I guarantee you’ll see it in another light.
The class is lacking so much right now. In SPvP only the shatter spec is even remotely viable, in WvW we are delegated to portal duty and pulling people from walls since we’re useless at anything else and in PvE we get outshined by every other class, be it solo farming or dungeons. The scepter needs a rework, clones don’t work as intended, some traits don’t work at all in some circumstances and bugs galore.
1. I’ll give you that.
2. How does massive explosion work when you have a cooldown on shatters and only 1 of them actually explodes?
3. Clones go right after the enemy which means that ANY smart player sees the clones running towards him and dodges. Or just kills them in 2 hits or 1 aoe.
4. We have the iWarden, utterly worthless and Illusionary Leap that only works when the stars align and has almost melee range. And that LOS thing is simply not true.
5. Confusion is our ONLY real dmg source outside burst. I play a cond mesmer and trust me even with my cond dmg confusion is lacking.
6. Nerfed to hell and back and still more nerfs in the pipeline. It will come to a point where there is no reason to bring a mesmer anywhere.
7. No. Just no.
Please, do your homework before coming here spewing nonesense.
As a cond dmg mesmer I find it rather impossible to deal with them. I can hold out a bit against them but never kill them alone. But hey, good thing to hear shatter covers this area too.
Honest suggestion for a mantra build? Don’t roll a mantra build.
An idiot will get confused by a mesmer and get his kitten handed to him.
A smart player will mop the floor with the mesmer because of how lacking the class is. Simple.
Nope, sorry. There is a reason most of us run focus. Join us in crying and MAYBE ANet will do something. Maybe.
Shatter seems to be the agreed upon best way to play the mesmer and the direction ANet clearly wants to take the class into.
Which is a kitten shame since I love playing my 0/20/30/0/20 cond dmg build. We kinda got neutered with the nerf to membrane though. If they’d replace vuln with poison on winds of chaos, maybe we’d have a chance.
As it stands, build shatter or you’re playing it wrong. Sad state of affairs….
Think of it as another random element in the randomness that is the mesmer. Just thank the heavens it doesn’t teleport you off ledges.
I’m running a 0/20/30/0/20 build with staff/scepter+focus cond dmg/support build and it’s a blast. Sure, you won’t kill anything fast but you have the thoughness to make up for it.
PvE wise, you’re there to help your allies survive and you deal a fair amount of dmg while tanking quite a bit. PvP wise, you’re much better off in a group than alone but you can handle mostly everything that’s thrown at you, provided you’re a little careful.
Oh and a word of warning, Osicat’s famous build got majorly buffed last patch while the cond dmg/thoughness build got kinda neutered thanks to the nerf to illusionary membrane. Think about it.
I think the problem lies as much in the fact that we don’t really have good sources of swiftness but also in the fact that we don’t really have reliable means of slowing people.
Think about it. Our pull acts as our swiftness and cripple source and it’s a rare occasion that you benefit from at least 2 of those features. On top of that we have iZerker, not available to all builds, buggy and unreliable, Chaos Storm, again not available for all and RNG dependent and Blink, all around versatile gap closer, escape/panic button. And there’s also Illusionary Leap that works only when the stars align and the gods favor you.
And all those on quite respectable cooldowns. I don’t know if more swiftness will fix the problems but I do think it’s only part of the problem.
Completely correct. There is no real argument to play mesmer instead of anything else.
But if I played anything else, I’d quit within a week.
And I’m usually the first in combat and the last one standing in PvE. And in PvP I can beat almost any other class.
Go figure.
Someone’s mad they got teleported in the middle of nowhere after a dragon died.
I keep the scepter around for it’s 3 mostly. As I run a cond dmg build, having a cry of frustration+s3 sometimes decimates warriors and thieves that keep attacking. And the blind is cool too even if it’s basically worthless, but hey, -1 source of dmg is better than nothing.
I’ve seen some pretty good suggestions for improving it around here but it’s pretty sad that ANet are keeping radio silence on the matter.
Same build I’ve been using for some time now. Works pretty good but I’m still on edge whether I should swap the scepter for a sword or not.
