I was wondering if there’s a possibility of adding new voices for your toon in the gemstore or something as a future update, and maybe add some predesigned macros your toon could say outloud?
Why do people care so much about the rewards? I mean, if Anet releases an event like the Mordrem invasion, and we don’t care about the reward and simply try to stop them from advancing and enjoy the gameplay, the feedback would have been a lot better.
Yeah there are a lot of issues like that event being easy and almost impossible to fail, but I really hope more people would actually enjoy playing games rather than being so reward focused.
I do understand rewards are important, but I wanted to address this issue because I also got some friends who focus too much on stuff like getting equipment, or leveling (they play wow though)…
What’s the point of all that if you didn’t enjoy the quests, dialogues, the story, the music, the landscape….
Honestly, it kinda started with me getting kinda mad with someone because that person was saying the gw2 is boring and clunky…. Which could be, I mean we all got different tastes. But that idiot didn’t even see the UI to even understand how “missions” were given, skipped through the entire dialoges…
Sometimes I feel like some people want instant gratification watching a movie but fast forwarding the entire film.
My point is, could we actually learn to enjoy the things we do instead of being overly obsessive with stuff that makes our actions feel like a chore?
Actually the event would have been amazing IF the battle would simply end with 1 super hard boss that can actually wipe the entire map out of existence, since the biggest issue is that we can’t actually lose in this event. And it’s too freaking easy to clear.
Yeah I know its reaaaally old, but I just found it funny and felt really grateful at the same time
I was browsing the internet and i found something interesting about the game. Apparently Guild Wars 2 could have been in the claws of an infamous and crappy company, we all know which one (Nexon).
Apparently, once upon a time, Anet hired Crystin Cox as monetization manager, who was kinda famous in the nexon community.
Here’s the article I found http://www.mmorpg.com/blogs/Meleagar/112012/24237_NCSoft-Sold-Arenanet-and-GW2-Out-For-Nexon-Investment
That company might have some interesting games, but the company itself simply destroys them. Not to mention the community…
Oh it was just a wild thought that came up in my head. I wouldn’t really compare the game anyways. But I believe the idea of exploration in the games it’s kinda funny, in a good way. I really love exploring.
I was actually watching an old video of zelda made by Egoraptor ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOC3vixnj_0&src_vid=Xf4KbsNWRV0&feature=cards&annotation_id=68490ef9-34ad-47be-b703-915243ec1a06 ), and suddenly I thought… Wait, Guild Wars 2 feels like a friggin Zelda game!
Emphasis on the “feels”, at least the basic idea of the world exploration compared to the first zelda game.
I really loved the big frog boss event, but was kinda disappointed with the fight against the wyvern. Mainly because he didn’t summon little wyverns in the middle of the boss fight, and simply focusing only on the boss makes the fight less dynamic.
The mechanics are there, but I believe having some extra powerful minions popping around the boss would make everything more interesing.
People keep saying Season 2 is optional to get for HoT, which kinda is. And it doesn’t really give you anyhting interesting besides caprace set which is not really that great. BUT if you wanna understand wth is going on at HoT, Season 2 is the perfect explanation of what happened between Season 1 and HoT, plus some extra details about scarlet and stuff.
I know some people use Xpadder to play with their controllers, which I tried.
But technically, this stuff being legit + mods like Reshade, SweetFX or MasterEffects also being legit, would it be too troublesome if someone where to create an UI like final fantasy xiv for the controller support? (this was the best choice of UI I found in mmo games so far, since I also tried Tera and I hate the convoluted stuff it has).
Though probably the most amazing thing would be for Anet to develop an actual UI for the controller lovers + some little features like using the AoE skills directly where your autotargeted mob is located. But this takes more time, and they are kinda busy anyways :P
It’s just that, kinda wanted to throw something I had in mind in case someone’s really bored, or if I find some time for it.
Of course Mouse and Keyboard users would beat the crap out of any controller user, but it’s a lot more relaxing for PvE explorers ^-^
Actually, if you get something like full nomad, the attacks that 1hit KO you might deal about 10% of your HP as damage (emphasis in the “might”).
And about the taunt, even without it, you can mitigate it not aggroing the mob too much until the tank builded dude catches up (probably because of his low dps), meanwhile someone drops some heals at him, since there are a lot of supportive skills in-game.
You see, sometimes it’s not about implementing something. It’s simply about organizing the group.
It’s a bit hard to pull off a true sense of desperation in MMOs since mechanically the PC can instantly teleport away from any sort of carnage to a carefree and tranquil area. That instantly ruins the threat that an area or atmosphere has since it takes away the true danger of the situation.
Prior to introducing megaservers they were capable of having cross zone effects in the separate realms/shards (e.g., Orr temples). I once suggested during the first CDI they did on the Living World that they should leverage this more and have more zone spanning effects, such that we as heroes of the realm have some duty to keeping it stable. For example, If we let Spark Fly Fen fall to the Risen threat there, those threats should bleed over into Bloodtide Coast (replace enemies and events there with more Risen, less pirates) and then eventually Lion’s Arch. It would be massive amounts of effort to be sure; but if our “safe zones” were no longer safe and our economy could actively be disrupted by ignoring the threats to the world, I’d think our actions would feel a great deal more meaningful.
woah~
I was wondering about what could gw2 story be lacking of, and suddenly something popped out of my head.
There’s no real sense of desperation as a hero, where everything goes wrong and you end up pretty much screwed, have no idea what to do now and desperate to survive or something. Hopefully in the HoT expansion the hero gets emotionally destroyed so we can start building up the character emotionally from scratch.
Also, most of the people who die in-game, actually die not long after you meet them. Making you feel almost no empathy for the npc who just died because you had no friggin emotional attachment to him/her.
Some really heartbreaking drama that makes me cry would make the story a real piece of art, kinda like, I don’t know.. Traherne betraying us because he was a minion from Mordremoth from the beginning, maybe Kasmeer dying because of you and Delaqua turning evil trying to hunt you and killing the pact.
I mean, I want Anet to make me cry, and not only every time I reach for my wallet when I see the gem store. But maybe I was influenced a lot by old games like Golden Sun or Chrono Cross…. I suddenly got the need to play Zelda Link awakening.
I just lost the main reason I posted this, but it’s 3am so i’m really sorry about the things I wrote if they don’t make any sense.
flihslifhds have fun
I bought the game some time ago, completed the entire story including season 2 and got so hyped with the ending that I ended up buying the ultimate edition.
But after some time I got kinda bored probably because I got burned out, so I bought Final Fantasy XIV for a month, and DC Universe online as a Legendary (monthly payed) until endgame.
The interesting thing is, that I just came back and decided to make a new toon and go fr the entire personal story + season 2, and the thrill of the story is still in there, and got caught up on it again.
I know a lot of people are stressed out about the f2p thing and the money they payed or not payed, but the truth is, that if you love the story as I do, after the battle against Zaithan, you simply can NOT let the season 2 story slip by because you end up saying… And now what? I wanna know what happens next!!
I’ve heard a lot of positive and negative things about the game, but in the end, I personally end up coming back thanks to the game lore.
pd: I couldn’t get the game in season 1, so I had to spend a lot of time reading the entire internet and watching videos of wth happend in there. -.-;
A new book from the perspective of Scarlet would be amazing though.
Someone said that on the next expansion, the expansion before that will become free for core game owners. I personally believe they shouldn’t do that.
Maybe lower the price of HoT to 20-30$ when the next expansion comes after some years, but not free.
I mean, I would love it if I were to own a core game only and suddenly get a lot of content for free, but I rather pay and know that the company will keep getting a nice amount of income to keep creating amazing content for the future.
Also, I believe having a F2P version with account restrictions is awesome considering the fact that WoW is launching a new expansion and Wildstar going F2P (being also from NCSoft). Maybe we should focus first on beating up the competition first :P
PD: I’ll still be testing wildstar btw….. sorry xD (but I promise I’ll buy every friggin expansion after HoT since I already own that one, because I love the Lore in the game)
Oh! and for all the readers in here, buy the books! they are awesome! also the music too xD (don’t quite like the fluffy charr doll though lol)
A lot of people say “you should at least play until lvl xx” but that’s not fun, it’s stockholm syndrome.
I agree that GW2 isn’t boring, and the truth is that game is a lot more fun at endgame. The thing is, for new players, it should be better to focus on enjoying the world, explore, rather than having to level up to 80 as your goal. I mean, you level up pretty much for anything you do in the game, so what’s the point of rushing if you are missing the whole point of the game which is having fun?
I guess the biggest issue in every game being boring or fun is always the same, about people trying to get to the endgame content without enjoying the game itself.
I’d say that we’ll get to the deep sea dragon eventually, the way the game is set up. Question is only when.
New races however is a bit more questionable. Not sure we’ll ever get them, and even if we do, which ones? There’s quite a few that come to mind as possible, starting with tengu, kodan, largos or quaggan. Though I kind of doubt that the quaggan would become playable, since they are counted among the “lesser races” (don’t really like that term).
I personally think we’ll get to the deep sea dragon after the remaining elder dragons, so maybe in some years. But I truly hope we get some teasers in upcoming contents about the other elder dragons. Kinda like they did with Season 1 finale and Mordremod awakening, and an open ending of HoT with another big cataclysm.
I was redoing all the quests again from level 1 to 80, and just caught up to one of the final missions to defeat Zaithan where you encounter Sayeh al’ Rajihd.
Then I google who the hell she was and what se is. Apparently she’s a largos. Anyways, we don’t know much about the largos nor the deep sea dragon, nor the hunt they were having.
I was wondering, wouldn’t be awesome if sometime in the future we could get an expansion of the deep sea dragon and also get largos and quaggans as playable races?
There seems to be a lot of people not reading the restrictions of f2p players before posting. And I feel like it would be great if those f2p accounts also had a level restriction like, let’s say 30-50?
I’ve got 3 toons and was trying to delete 1 I had saved on lvl 2 so I can use the nickname. But after putting the name of the toon and pressing delete it simply doesn’t to anything. Does anyone have any idea why I’m unable to do it?
I was wondering if there’s a way to modify my Chrome so every time I enter the GW2 site it doesn’t redirect me to https://www.guildwars2.com/es/ and instead I can get the https://www.guildwars2.com/en/ version.
I know it’s just a little detail, but I’m getting kinda kittened with every site trying to make me use a language I don’t wanna use =p
Not just here, but in mostly every site, so… If anyone knows a good method to change this I would really appreciate it. (If possible I would not like to use a proxy).
Well, I guess I’ve gotta conform with Jeff Grubb’s books then. Thanks for the answers
Something needs to link the ps and ls2 together. Linking from your idea, perhaps a temp scavenger hunt that leads players to each major area where they can read journals and view cutscenes at each location.
Or the story journal have a temp short story written up in chapter form inside it
Or the whole thing could be written up as you suggest and downloaded for free from the site
Yeah but if it’s something free Anet wouldn’t profit from it, and I believe getting people interested on the story outside the gaming community would be cool, I mean, from the main story with Zaithan, the season 1 and the season 2, plus now all the stuff from mordremoth in HoT… Give it a nice book cover, and I would buy the book If I didn’t play the game. And getting a little bit more profit to the game selling merchandise doesn’t really sound bad when you have almost all the script already written.
I was actually trying to focus more on the lore outside the gameplay without having to go to the wikis. (Yeah I’m kind of a bookworm)
The point is that the lore itself is interesting enough to be in a book for those who like the story but might not be gamers.
I believe a lot of players (including me) where kinda confused on the season 1 story of GW2, so I was wondering… would it really be a bad idea to release a novel about the main story from GW1 + Ghosts of Ascalon + Edge of Destiny + Sea of Sorrows + GW2 personal story (for example, with Trahearne as the narrator) + GW2 Season 1 story (with I don’t know, Braham as the narrator?) + … and so on.
I would personally love to read GW books, it’s quite a work but it might be cheaper and faster than remaking an entire season 1, and I would definitely buy it.
Though I’m not sure if there are many readers on the game.
I’m new on the game and just finished the main story. Bought the season 2 from living world, but couldn’t find the season 1.
I’ve heard there’s some sort of missing lore if I just start the season 2 not knowing what happened on the 1st one.
So I was wondering, is there a simple way to understand what happened on the 1st season, or what i have to know to understand the lore basics for season 2.
