The issue can easily be solved using a build with more survivability. You have no toughness nor health, and both of you are glass cannons, basically the one with the fastest burst and actually landing their skills win.
With a tougher build and constant damage, the fight might take a bit more but after surviving the initial burst they are vulnerable.
Or you could also time your evasion and survivability skills correctly, most of the time, it’s just a matter of timing and good kiting when playing with a glass cannon.
So, how does the op think Anet can survive with 60$ from 3 years ago? It’s not like everyone buys gems or there are tons of new players buying the core game every month.
I don’t know if some people are trolling or simply lazy.
I started playing HoT and never bothered in grinding any masteries at all. I just went to the jungle to explore and find out a bit more of what the hell was happening to the jungle dragon and stuff… Ended up with a mastery level over 100 when I noticed.
Honestly speaking, if those people complaining about the grind, are focusing in playing for the sole purpose of maxing your masteries before, well actually playing the game, then of course you are getting bored. Don’t blame Anet for your simple minded way of playing that comes with a mechanic way of doing things, because that’s your problem.
I sell all of the major ones instantly on TP because most of the time you get a tiny bit more than selling to a regular merchant. This ends up being a time/space saver if I’m in the middle of something and need space.
Mostly I just don’t salvage or open any bags until I’m done with a map and then park next to a merchant.
But you really can’t help but to salvage if they start dropping tons of equipments instead of bags
I was wondering, is there a reason for minor/major rune and sigils not being able to be deposited?
For what I can tell, a lot of people just spend most of their times destroying them (well maybe throwing some major ones on the mystic toilet), because they fill up space pretty quickly every 5-10 mins.
So, Is there a reason I’m not aware of for the devs not changing this feature?
I mean, they made depositable old items like foxfire clusters.
Yellow mobs are leather nodes.
OMG! why is this new to me? lol… Never knew it, even after a year of getting the game xD
Fishing could also be nice if there were any fish items
I was wondering, shouldn’t it be cool if we could milk cows or skin them for leather and stuff? they are pretty much useless most of the time when you are not petting them for hearts.
Maybe they could be used as leather nodes?
1. Usually people buy games for 20-60$ (offline games), they enjoy it and then leave them to rot somewhere safe.
Why is there so much controversy about MMOs not having enough content, or not releasing them, when you spent more than enough time on the game comparing it with another offline games, relatively with their prices?
I’m not talking only about GW2 in here, since this issue seems to appear in every other online game.
2. I know ArenaNet does not have enough manpower to be compared to companies like Blizzard or Square-Enix, so why is everyone demanding the quality of content a big company could make in a relatively short amount of time?
What about grouping up with an indie developer team? and it’s not likethe game would be actually free. Like most of mobile games, there’s always a stamina bar or something that timegates your gameplay time, plus a cash shop.
I know it sounds kinda shady, but it’s normal to use those tactics on the market and it seems to be working quite well for some games, I guess the profits come down to the audience and how big it actually is.
I said SAB as an example, but it could be something far more simplistic and dumbed down too, as long as it’s somhow connected to the game itself, as in story, or something else.
Also, that game is in japanese (not korean), so it’s pretty much a noodle war for me to keep reading texts (????(;???)
Hi there!~ I was taking some time off gw2 and found out some interesting stuff on the internet.
You see, there’s one game called Phantasy Star Online 2, where you can play on the pc – ps vita, and there’s this app that’s a completely different game that could be linked to the pc-vita account.
Now, with the re-release of SAB, I was wondering… It could take some years to develop (maybe) but with the increasing profit on mobile games, wouldn’t it be interesting to have your gw2 account linked to a mobile app that plays like SAB?
In PSO2, there’s also a reward system depending on how far you have progressed, the use of your main game account sprite, also an independent cash shop.
So I was wondering, do you guys think it would be profitable if A-net took some time to release something like this? Because it takes time and manpower, and sometimes it may or may not pay off.
I wonder how everyone feels about getting some sort of questline or a big adventure where you have to craft a crappy weapon, and start hunting stuff, progress on some story, and gradually make it stronger until it’s strong enough (exotic or ascended level), until it can damage dragons or something.
I personally think that sometimes the lore of gw2 is too dispersed and we could start getting a more focused content since basically what we have lorewise is the first questline against zaithan, season1 (not accesible but it’s there), season 2 and HoT. Which makes it look like we have basically 3 playable short stories.
I know the lore of the dungeons are really interesting, but like I said before, i’s too dispersed… It would have been great if the stories from every dungeon were linked together and you had to actuall follow an order guided by the green icon thingy that guides the personal story.
Basically, what i’m trying to get to is that it might be too much work making big stories for now, so why not focus on finding a way to link everything together on a questline, adding an excuse to start an adventure, getting to a dungeon and find out that something happened, proceed with the mission and keep linking all the loose ends together.
(Also the idea of a questline for a weapon or armor to become stronger was an example I simply had to start another adventure, not really something quite important)
I kinda noticed that despite the complains or what not about the game or the expansion, the population is quite ok on GW2.
Which I find it interesting since we all knew of the old fights on the internet where people said that games like Wildstar, Black Desert, etc. would make the population decline a lot in guild wars.
I mean, I recently heard that Carbine Studios had an important layoff of some of their eployees and a lot of people regretting buying Black Desert because of the low population and other issues.
I’m quite glad to notice that despite the anger on some posts on the forum, there are still many players on the game and specially with all the F2P change of the core game, I didn’t see any bots spamming any RMT sites on LA nor any other map.
There are a lot of games with a lot of players, but I really makes me wonder… What makes GW2 different from for example, Final Fantasy XIV? In terms of the amount of bots and gold sellers…
And lastly, I always thought GW2 was on the same level of quality as Wildstar, but It really makes me wonder what made that game to be so poorly populated compared to this one?
Anyways, I can’t post a potato on this post (I might spend too much time on 9gag), but I just wanted to say that somehow the artstyle, music, story and the voices on this game make me come back from time to time into it…. Also the freaking merchandise…….
Give us moar charr plushies!!!!! (sorry)
What do people have to complain about? How about the amount of content and “features” you get simply isn’t worth the price? FFXIV offered far more content and mechanics for a lower price. WvW got a map that was absolutely terrible, its like they saw the complaints about EotM and thought they were complinents. How about when ArenaNet said that new specs wouldn’t be alpha specs, but for the most part they are. How about them taking content that was available pre-HoT and gating it behind HoT content?
I think the most frustrating thing is that people might have expected things to change after HoT released. Sadly though we are back in the same old rut, extremely slow updates that only focus on one area of the game and questionable implementations.
Yeah, but remember the size of the company, Arenanet is far smaller then Square-Enix
Say what you want, it’s still better then black desert. That games a hot mess atm.
Lol, Black Desert is a sandbox + a 2005 game released on 2016, of course it’s a mess. Plus since it’s a Korean MMO, the voice acting sucks and the story is horrible.
The game itself it’s addicting as any other korean mmo, since that’s their primary focus when they develope games.
HoT might not be perfect or even a complete expansion so far, but at least it was worth my time and money so far.
I might be playing some offline games and left GW2 atm, but It’s one of the few stuff I do not regret buying and spending my time on.
Yup, lol… It has Rytlock on it xD
So, I was surfing through the internet and read something about a game called MxM which is apparently a moba with NCsoft characters including GW2.
I have no idea if it’s just a rumor but, I also have no idea how I feel about it
When I get tired of GW2 I personally play some classics like chrono cross, lufia 2, breath of fire III, etc.
Sometimes I rather just go fishing in real life though
By the way…. why don’t we have fishing minigames on gw2? (specially the way breath of fire 3 & 4 mechanics work on the fishing is awesome!!)
Oh this post reminds me of a character on the Soul Eater anime/manga who was obsessed with symmetry
I kinda noticed that after a while, everyone gets tired of playing one game. And somehow ended up loving the GW2 merchandise more than the game itself.
Do you guys think it would be an interesting move if Arenanet focused more on their merchandise and the marketing through youtube channels?
Maybe also have some team of devs focusing their time on some mobile SAB minigames, so that the game could become a more trending topic for casual non-GW2 players?
Quaggan/Charr/Asura adventure funny videos for the internet?
And this is something personal but… MOAR PLUSHIES!!!
Yes they have been sold as i own one , didt get it from a difrent store though
Oh, I see. Thanks
I love Arenanet, but sometimes I feel like they are kinda like DC game developers… They suck at marketing.
Anyone remember the game “Infinite Crisis”?
Not fair, the Legacy of Kain series have the best narration I’ve ever seen, it wouldn’t even be possible for them to achieve something like that.
OK! Let’s kidnap some devs from Crystal Dynamics and Silicon Knights, to make them play GW2 lol xD
So, I have been taking a break from gw2 and playing the old Soul Reaver games. Gameplay aside, I was impressed by the writting done on that game.
Yeah the gameplay kinda sucks, but I was thinking… If GW2 were to gradually improve their languages on future updates, wouldn’t the game be far more memorable with it’s current artistic background?
For example, here are some quotes from soul reaver: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0247477/quotes
I am not by any means a good writter, but it would be amazing if the dialogue could improve to a point where some quotes would be more memorable than any cutscenes or gameplay mechanics.
I was wondering how would you guys feel about Anet giving us a barren map, where we could use a new mastery to rise buildings, capture monsters, release the monsters to invade someone, maybe the ability to farm and stuff, simply to make it a sandbox map based on new masteries.
It would be a great deal of work, but I believe it would be interesting specially if we could make alliances with guilds to invade another guild building, summon monsters and pretty much create events for the other guilds to kill them.
With the creativity some people have in other sandbox games like eve online, where the players started a war without the intervention of any dev creating that event, it would make the game more dynamic without the need to create new content all the time since the players should be able to do something similar I guess.
The idea is really blurry, but the main thing is would be to have a sandbox environment for the future of the game i guess.
I know it would probably not happen, but I was interested on how would everyone feel if for some christmas miracle it were to happen on 2020 or something (just throwing a random number).
With the movie coming in a week, MrBtongue video made me feel like Blizzard was like the empire xD
After reading some complains about gw2 and other mmos in general, I found an interesting video on youtube about this issue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTHsll9LFZ4
To people who say that you can stop the map closure by filling the map: I never saw this working, so far it …
If it were to work then it should be reported as a bug anyways.
Thanks for the responses
I wonder if in the future we will get an option to talk with the mic on a party-squad-map in order to avoid 3rd party programs.with the designated options to turn it on amd off, of course.
You may want to edit out the text in the chat box
Thanks, I did now
Ok, I have been playing some mmos for quite a bit, and I would like to show you an example of what could happen if people buy from RMT sites even if the devsare breaking their kitten trying to stop it.
Final Fantasy XIV, a subscription based mmo where a lot of ppl seem to buy gold from rmt sites and no one seems believe it’s an issue.
You get spammed on the world chat, normal chat, whispers, from those sites, and the most common response on the forum is “just mute them” or “mute the whisper on chat”
Square Enix, bans at least 4k accounts per week.
But you know, they won’t stop trying because the playerbase WANTS to keep buying.
I do understand that there’s a rumor about SE only banning those rmt accounts when they feel like it, or whatever. But the point is, keeping those creeps away from flooding the chat, mail, etc, is not as simple as the devs taking care of it, the player cooperating on creating a healthy community is important, as important as to buying some gems on the store if you want to support the devs and their work on Anet.
PS: I love Final Fantasy XIV but I honestly quit because of the community taking the rmt so lightly, i know it’s a stupid excuse, but they were (in smaller numbers) even in the Heavensward expansion.
Seriously? I was testing something so I decided to run from Verdant Brink to the Dragon Stand with a lvl 50 Mesmer. It took me some time, and got 1 shot KOed a lot, couldn’t really kill anything but it wasn’t impossible.
Are you guys seriously that bad at the game to think that the difficulty is too high to survive alone on the jungle, or simply lazy to try different builds? Are you seriously that bad at logic to think that’s a convincing argument?
Not really, I was simply looking for a way to show up the fact that I was able to run to the dragon stand with a lvl 50 toon xD

Please not this again, you guys know that in practice, you don’t always have 1 enemy standing still for you to dps.
Also, there’s an issue of toughness on the monster, which affects the dps depending if you are a condi or a direct damage centered character.
There are some problems with ele and warrior for example, and that’s the fact that they are mostly burst damagers when they go for the direct dps, and that 25k dps or so is calculated within the best conditions of the fight, which is an theoretical calculation.
In practice, you dodge, you move and have cooldowns.
those 25k dps, suddenly go down to 10-15k
Every class is balanced, and can pretty much achieve the same damage depending on how you use it. For example, in the time a warrior deals those 25k dps, I will always have a steady damage on my reaper (without any burst damage).
With a condi build, that damage is (with my personal toon btw):
9k damage on direct hits per second
10k on condi damage per second
which is a total of 19k dps
Now, when the warrior has passed his dps burst time, i’m pretty much still hitting the same with autoattacks in shroud. Not to mention, my utilities make me able to sustain shroud pretty much forever, and my traits give me max might and vulne after a short period of time plus the damage increase at 50% hp on the monster.
This s simply an example, and I also found an interesting vid about this dps thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR8WPHovXTs
Every class can achieve the same dps as any other if you know how to use and build it.
I just don’t get it, why is everyone so freaked out about the precursor crafting?
I mean, it’s called a Legendary weapon, because it’s hard to get, and the timegate makes it more rewarding.
If you want everyone running around with twilight and stuff, making your weapon skin feel common then fine.
But i’m noticing the same issue with the difficulty of the monsters on the jungle, and people crying about it being hard or everything being grindy…
To be honest, I never had a Legendary, and I’m slowly working towards mine. Even the mastery system, which I never grinded it but I’m suddenly lvl 87 or something like that.
I believe the greatest issue in the gw2 community, is the fact that it developed a weirdly childish personality where a bunch of people see something different or something they wanna get yet it’s kinda hard for them to, and they start a tantrum because the can’t get it NOW.
Until you enter the darkest deepest parts of the forum
So I found a video of the devs rapping while surfing on youtube, it’s from july though :P
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8PSP4el58w&index=6&list=PLgAZ5-nTXExfuHOSM38SgxdXx-QTWkPF6
1. I was having some issues with the raid gate on Verdant Brink, since it seems to scale some meta events close to it. Is there any chance it could be on Lion’s Arch or an insanced map with the gate for it?
2. We always get a lot of people running for hero points in the middle of a meta event, but I believe it would be nice for those Hero points to be disabled while the final meta is on, since most of them don’t even last long and we could get more people to actually complete it instead of roaming around the map because they are not interested, or at least give them the option of changing to another map while the event if on, so we could taxi more people interested on completing it. (cough!~ Tangled Dephts)
Some of the cultural armors are expensive if you buy them with gold. And you usually do not notice the ones with karma since it’s not as usually utilized as the gold.
I personally enjoy and like this map. The issue, might be on the final meta, which isn’t so hard to complete if only the ppl knew the mechanics.
So I was wondering, would it be better if we had like 10-20 mins to organize the map before the last attack and/or make the event pop every 1 hour inatead of 2?
Since most of the failures came from the lack of practice of every player on the map.
And please…. have the decency to port to a waypoint when you are fully dead on any map.
I know they don’t do anything and that’s the point of it. Just to maybe show an old icon next to your name depending on your personality, but nothing else. I simply thought about having a little feature showing how charming your little asura is, would be kinda fun
I was wondering if adding a personality % on our stats wpuld help us personalize pur toons better and be more careful on our dialogue choices. (Charm-dignity-ferocity)
I believe it resembles more like an old zelda title playstyle rather than a metroidvania. Since you’ve got relatively nore freedom than metroid games but maybe less than the first Zelda for SNES. I find it amusing. Btw…. I just run with a lvl 58 toon from the silverwastes to dragon stand, it’s really fun! But ypu get 1 shot KO’es by anything xD
What if we also have the chance to get 1 account wide bag slot for 800 gems?
