If you’re all just going to cry over a new tier of items, why even have god kitten items in this game? Why have fine, masterwork, rare, or exotic tiers? It’s too unfair for those who only have lower tier items! We should just eliminate all items for ever so the babies don’t have to collect a single piece of gear forever.
That is a very valid concern, even if stated in a very childish manner.
Childish? Look at all these other posts by the people crying over ascended. They want everything handed to them and when things went in a different direction they all act like its the end of the world. I swear some of these people are crying themselves to sleep.
Compared to some of the posts by all these other people this was hardly childish.
Standard MMO community procedures, did you not receive the manual?
Out of all the MMOs I’ve ever played, even in the most Pay to win F2P MMOs, I’ve NEVER seen a MMO community more selfish and pathetic as this one.
Well, my friend. Our job here is to set the bar as low as possible and I believe if we work together we can achieve this grand task.

Really….. my chicks is not sexy at all :S Look like she wear male outfit… wtf Anet. Where is skin ? legs ? mini skirt ??? ;( Only this make this game rated below all bad game that have sexy outfits to me…
Bad game + sexy outfits much better THAN good game with unsexy female character … no ?
Gawd, another prepubescent spotty fella who is crying into his milk and bookies because the gals FINALLY get to cover up for a change in a cliche ridden MMO market
What do you have against mini skirts? Do you hate America?
Yet somehow I manage to stay competitive with only yellow gear.
You can only do better with max stat gear, therefore you will be more competitive, as you won’t be working handicapped due to your numbers being arbitrarily smaller than your opponent’s numbers.
Stats aren’t even that much greater from tier to tier… what is it like 3 more points on stats from yellow to orange?
Of course your character will have a slight edge with higher tier but its not a game breaker
Dang. Bind on pickup too? Anet really have gone above and beyond the call of duty in their new quest to copy WoW’s item and grinding systems.
Too lazy to read a few posts above yours I see
As you seem to be a very affable and intelligent person I’d recommend either asking one of your no doubt countless friends or independently researching what a joke is. Once you’ve done that you might like to come back and on renewed examination, realise that I understand the situation but am poking fun at Anet’s recent awful decisions in a tongue in cheek manner.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to crap on your attempt at comedy
This game indeed needs more mini skirts, I hope mods are reading this
They were closer. As you can see they are now moving away from that.
Personally i’ve run out of positive thoughts after months of lacking updates – and now this. They’re “moving away” from it because they introduced new items? rofl you people are ridiculous.
No. They are moving away from it because they introduced an amazingly incredible grind for gear. I spent 6+ hours in the new instance with 3 different groups. I got 25 relics for my time and 1 rare ring.
One of those prototype things cost 1350 relics. In over 6 hours I was able to get 25. At this rate, I’ll probably get enough relics right before GW3 launches.
If you like this grind, more power to you. I’m happy that you have a game that you can enjoy for a few weeks before the next WoW patch. Personally, after 6+ hours of dungeon running and having nothing to show for it, I’m done with this nonsense. At least in WoW, I would actually get something for spending this much time in an instance.
I’m pretty sure there a lot more to do in this game than grinding for items.
Not if you want to stay competitive. Ascended items are the new exotics and you either have them or you have to l2p.
Yet somehow I manage to stay competitive with only yellow gear.
For now.
I will have an exotic or 2 by the time people will start getting new gear!

These new items are must haves to compete in wvwvw, and there is only one way to get them – crappy dungeon grinds that many of us Hate.
Posts like this are the reason I’m afraid I’m gonna get banned from the forums again

A short break from the game will bring most people back to be honest
And in dungeons ele’s suck, except with evasive arcana build. To support and heal is our only viable role. Area swiftness, might, healing. But now that has been nerfed.
That may be the only way YOU can manage to play your elementalist in a dungeon, but don’t wave your hands around trying to represent the rest of us.
Stop looking at the class through such a narrow lens. Experiment with new playstyles — it’ll support many (many) more than people like you give credit. It can definitely fill both offensive and support roles but it requries different ways of playing both. Imagine that! If all you ever find in your hand is a staff, you’re probably doing it wrong. Just saying …
This type of post would mean something if you actually give suggestions. Also, support is more than just healing and it doesn’t mean you’re just supporting, you’ll obviously be fighting most of the time, it’s just that you’ll actually be able to support frequently as well.
It’s more of how you use the skills at your disposal rather than what kind of build you got going. I mainly use staff just because I went for mf and glass canon stats. I do damage by combining earth/fire attacks which is quite a lot especially if the mobs all bunch up nicely. Air I rarely use in a fight unless I need swiftness or a stun (i prefer using slow effects) and water most of the time I end up using to heal members of my party because I rarely get hit unless there are ranged mobs. Plus you have number of CC options which you can help yourself or party members. Plus with new magical weapon buffs it opens up more possibilities.
The general consensus is casual which holds no ground to the game because they will eventually get bored and leave the game like they do with everything.
You heard it hear first.
Wouldn’t it be the opposite? Casual players keep playing because they will never run out of stuff to do. Hardcore players quit out of boredum because they finished all the content.
Wonder if ANet will be able to figure out how to please both casual and hardcore players
Regardless of consensus, it’s clear anet is not living up to the promises made in their manifesto. And, having too much experience with MMO game companies, I know that they will never reverse their reversal of philosophy. So, regardless of consensus, GW2 is now just another MMO. The more important question is what will the player base do with that once they’ve gone through the phases of grieving. My guess is Guild Wars diehards will move on in significant numbers as a matter of principle. Players coming from WoW for a more friendly player playing with other players experience will be delighted and stay as GW2 becomes more and more WoW-like. While I would love to be wrong on this, I don’t believe anet will change it’s current morph into WoW with a friendlier face.
I dunno, it is still way easier to gear up when other MMOs. Don’t give up hope on GW2 yet. Right now people are just fearing for the worst which is understandable but only time will tell in which direction GW2 is heading
Our “pvp skill based game” is now a “gear based pve game.” Awesome. Raiders ALWAYS get preferential treatment. But I will tell you this as absolute truth-once the pvp’ers say “kitten this game” and leave the game goes down the tubes. ALL the pvp’ers I know are done with this game. Maybe they decided to cater to the raiders because they are unable to fix RENDERING issues in WvW, who knows, all I know is we are done with this game. I hate the shady used car salesman mentality they used on us to get us to buy this game.
I don’t see how PvP was affected by this patch…?
I can’t help but feel like people are being overly dramatic when they say that they are leaving a game.
I have 2 80 s. One fully geared exotic. I have completed 4 dungeons total..lol and they were all story lines dungeons. It doesn’t bother me one bit people want level 80s in full exotics. What’s the big deal with them being particular about who they group with? Every person playing values their time.
Yes it’s true that if they made a group they can invite whoever they want. But in the long run this kind of mentality will create a very divided community.
Thanks for update
The thought process for those players is that they don’t want to play with “noobs” so instead of giving a player a chance to see how he/she does they try to judge people by some artificial number which in no way or form really tells you anything about players ability to finish a dungeon.
When there is a large difference in the ability to attain armour by players, it becomes the easiest way to differentiate experienced players from inexperienced ones.
Ability to attain armor doesn’t really tell you much about a player. Hell, I’ve seen level 40s play smarter and better than some of 80s in dungeon gear.
I played few other classes tho not to high level. I do think the class could use a few changes, but it’s not really as kittenome people make it out to be.
that we want to be rewarded with something other than gear with higher stats?
That any forum poster thinks they are a “general Consensus” or represents a majority.
Well I’m sick so I’ve been sitting home reading forums most of the day :p
Imagine if they’d added gear that let you choose and swap around the stat spread you wanted, without having to waste 11+, 22+, 33+, etc inventory slots just to carry around a new set of armour and accessories (and weapons, for that matter).
So let’s say an armor drops, but it has 2 sets of stats. And you can switch between those 2 sets when you’re out of combat. For example an armor that has dps stats for 1 set and more tanky sets for second set. Kinda like that?
The thought process for those players is that they don’t want to play with “noobs” so instead of giving a player a chance to see how he/she does they try to judge people by some artificial number which in no way or form really tells you anything about players ability to finish a dungeon.
The problem is, a lot of player actually do want gear with higher stats. However, this form of reward isn’t really new content, just more of the same but 2.0 version. They should look at how the handled new content in GW1 – that game seemed to have it going on.
Adding new stats on gear to provide a variety of gear would have been better than adding new gear that supersedes existing gear. Even adding gear with bigger numbers, but paired with penalties to offset those bigger numbers, would have been interesting.
Hm that’s a good idea, maybe even add some cool effects to weapons/armor kinda like what Borderlands did.
that we want to be rewarded with something other than gear with higher stats?
I’m not touching Fractals. Way too much work just to get an obligatory stat boost. Killing my desire to play GW2 altogether. Which is super-sad considering how freakin’ avoidable that problem was. It’s like it just came out of nowhere.
I don’t get it, so you not going to run Fractals because it has new tier of armor, but you would run it if armor was only a cosmetic update?
Well to be fair GW2 is a completely different game from GW1.
It’s kinda expensive yes, but I think thats good because it’s one of cooler looking sets and shouldn’t be too cheap.
Sure thats a possibilty, to be honest I would do the dungeons even if there were no awards at all.
Event wise not much, bugs are still being fixed.
I’ve been playing elementalist since beta and I have yet to encounter any of these problems. I do fine in PvE, dungeons, sPvP, and WvWvW. Though I haven’t read forums till recently, do people here just jump on “elementalist suck” bandwagon?
Well this thread went quickly from constructive to complaining.
what exactly do you expect people to say?
Well for one I expect them to say nothing if they have nothing constructive to add. But then again this is MMO forums, so I’m not surprised to see the quality of some posts.
By constructive you mean positive right? because negative critique is not constructive right?
How about this.
while i was lagging through the event, I noticed how pretty the water looks while i was teleporting from one place to another. The mystic forge was great fun, i can buy the exact same gear i can get from the karma merchants but I don’t have to use that annoying free waypoint, very convienent. The scavanger hunt was awsome, I am sure the end will be even better, once I am able to finish it…whenever that is.
The dungeon was very challenging. The mobs have this ability to freeze you in place and kick you from the dungeon, so you have to join another group and start over. It really raises the difficulty bar.
the best thing of all though, is that maybe ioj and blackgate will be so tied up in this fantastic, awe inspiring display of computer enginering expertise, that they won’t show up for the wvw reset and we can take an early lead! Also i think i saw a unicorn and a rainbow.
I’m thankful you typed out all that just for me but no, constructive doesn’t mean only positive. Though it seems the posts I was talking about were already deleted by mods.
Where does it say you have to ignore the rest of the game? Where does it say you have to get a new item as soon as it comes out? Do what you find fun in game. No one is forcing you to rush in order to get an item.
Ahem, let me repeat myself: If we want the best. And who said anything about rushing? You can spread it out as long as you want, but in the end you’ll still need 100 hours or more for ONE back item. ridiculous.
And yes, I would still like input from people who have done more than one run in a row.
The numbers you posting are only speculation. Dungeons tend to become easier the longer they are out. And besides whats the point of making new content if it can be done soon after it comes out. This is MMO, where progression over time is needed.
the dungeon is designed to get harder the more you run it.
Easier as in people get better geared, figure out how to beat bosses and come up with better strats in order to beat the dungeon

This is only phase one, just an opening act. I missed act 1 for halloween event but act 2 and 3 were a lot of fun. So just wait and see till the weekend is over to see if you’re still dissapointed.
Not all barrels can be opened I think, I walked all the way to the end of shore to find a barrel that opened.
I want dueling as well, 1v1s is a great way to get better at PvP.
You can’t till tomorrow
Or as long as you are in the circle of the event you get credit.
Ah a good constructive feedback thread instead of “MEMEMEMEME” complain posts
This is my first event somewhat on time and I like the story/mystery so far.
Obvious dislike are the bugs that prevent me to continue but I know it will get fixed soon.
A new way to make you learn to play better
Yes because one mistake or accidentle fall means I suck as a player.
I never said you sucked as a player.
A new way to make you learn to play better
We really would like to say it was fun… but it wasn’t.
Pls fix your game and stop this one time event misery.
Thanks.
Who is “we”?
The thing that I am disappoined about was investing 600 hours into a game because it wasn’t going to have a gear treadmill. Now everything indicates we got bait and switched, and there is going to be a rediculous gear treadmill.
TLDR: got tricked into putting 600 hours into just another WoW clone.
Tricked to play the game for 600 hours? You would think if you played that much you played because you enjoyed the game and weren’t “tricked” into playin it.
You can still move the camera with the mouse if you hold both left and right click, and double tap to roll is pretty simple too. It works well once you get used to it
You can change your controls in the options, or what do you mean?
