Just some general info here from testing. The dodge roll heal is the best scaling heal ive found. I had it go from 300 and change to about 1430 with all cleric gear in the mists. Been meaning to theory craft a build around vigor and the roll. Or maybe even something cross class for dungeons. Needing vigor and dont want to spec into prec to get it from our trait line.

Edit: BTW yes they all scale from your post. One ive found that does not = spirit bow heal. Its always 96 at 80. Altruistic scales very little. Like 8 pts with max heal gear.

As a rule of thumb ive found.. the abilities that ONLY heal you, usually scale the worst. Through each class ive tested.

Greatsword grandmaster trait, that one that heals you per gs attack, only heals for 125, no matter what.

Healing breezing is healing you during those 3 sec cast and you can cast your 789 skills while at it.

So you can hit it and do something else.

The only reason I take signet over is because it’s 20% CD decrease.

I know Tarnished Coast is our RP server. Love it and it has a great community.

However, new commers usually feel lost not knowing where to go and on the long run TC will just end up being another server.

Please, pick a server, make it RP and let us all flock in there under it’s banner.
Naming policy isnt that impossible to enforce!

Or create a new server and let us all transfer to it.

Rizzy, I didn’t tell you to grind, I said I sometimes do a dungeon. Talk about hearing what you want to hear…
And according to you, you HAD money, you just recklessly pent it all… Well, then it’s your own fault, isn’t it?

So how many times before it becomes a grind when you do a dungeon then?

Because surviving one of those grind fests with such a low reward and a high repair cost, seems pretty grindy to me

You are messing up concepts. Grind is to do something mindlessly over and over again to achieve something, like killing 1000 apes or farming the same “farm” raid over and over again so everyone get the minimal gear to progress.

What you are complaining is that rewards for running hard instances or w/e isnt worth the trouble. In fact, you are going out loosing more than you are earning.
That does requires some balancing indeed, however the bullseye of that discussion would be what exactly would be enough to worth all that trouble?

MMOs isnt about grind/gear/competition.

Is more about people playing with others in a massive, permanent envirioment.
It is much more about coordinating together to achieve a goal.

In WoW gear wasnt your target. it was progression. Gear was just means to it.
And that is so true that after a few months, they nerfed raids so hard so new people could get gear in order to do new content.

So think with me, everyone was hiting for 1 and that boss had 1000 HP. Now everyone is hitting for 2, and that boss has 2000 HP.
You are just having an ilusion you are doing better.

What makes a good raider in wow and a bad raider is the capacity to follow instructions and proper reaction.

So they removed the sillyness of status on gear all together. You get what you want from gear: Unique look.
And you have to do what you used to have to do in wow: coordinate.

I agree they need to add more lvl 80 dungeons/places to go, but they dont need to bring WoW mentality just because some people think MMO is to play under the ilusion of “gear status” progression.

Anyways, I believe all we need is more stuff to do at 80.
A new hard dungeon with unique skins (maybe give a token so you can trade for your class?), a new zone, new events (major city sieges?) new sPVP.

Those are always cool.
Game isnt lacking at all. There’s just too much to explore and I highly doubt every 80 out there tasted every zone, with every meta events happening.

But adding more couldnt hurt either.

In my opinion, GW2 is the best MMORPG in the market.

Edit: I totally agree with you on not comming back to the same dungeon for tokens once you completed it. But there should be dungeons that are so hard and requires such well coordinated group that you couldnt possibly beat it in one night, or in a few attempts.

So, let me see if I got people’s complaint right.

They all specc into glass cannon and wonder why they got one shot.
I really wonder how many of them actually works on keeping defensive buffs, rotate blinds (not only dodge), blocks and of course, stacking vit/tough to prevent one shots.

OH the nerve of wondering that.

There’s nothing wrong with the game, it requires some adjustments and EXPANSION to stuff to do at 80. New zones, new dungeons, new events. Just that.

On pvp, on the other hand, it does require some balancing, but that is totally expected to be unbalanced as the game just launched.

Rants I’ve seen usually narrow down to people wanting the same old end game they are used to: they rushed to 80 and now are stuck.
They want to be able to mindlessly farm the same raid over and over for that little piece of gear, that will become available to everyone in 2 months once their current “progression” gets nerfed beyond their dreams.

Others complain that how hard it is to get gear, to get that cultural skin to get this or that. Game is out in one month and they want it all, just to go back to complaints.

GW2 needs only more stuff to do at 80. Maybe more dungeons (dirty hard dungeons that will require you spec out of glass cannon and requires group coordination). The reward for that?

Just a very unique skin seems good enough for me. Status are good and what not, but the FUN of actually overcomming a challenge is by far better. However, I’d indeed increase the money reward from bosses to at least compansate for repairs.

Well, that’s just my opinion, but I’d hate to see GW2 become a remake of WoW. Please, go back to WoW.

You are mislead.
The drop nerf in dungeons dont hit normal players. It hit people that farms the same path over and over.
You can do each explorable mode’s path once without seen a nerf.

However, the amount of money earned from normal kills do need some adjustment.

Maximizing Whirling Wrath Damage

Dont forget the combo field you can create with symbol of wrath and whirl.
Not related to the topic but many people dont realize that.

Removing one condition from yoirself and your nesr by allies is great.

I cant complain about my gs.

Aoe, combo that removes condition on me and everyone around, aoe pull that at least interrupt my enemies and a blind.

All that with great front cone damage.
It is awsome for pvp and pve.
My second weapon of choice is a sword paired with a focus.

I dont see hammer as a viable choice, even after tonights patch. Too slow and its damage isnt scaled accordinly.

Anyways, my point is, if you dont want to use such awsome weapon as a GS. Go ahead and do one hand sword plus focus or a mace and a shield.

In pve and pvp, focus is far better still.
Also, 45 sec cd on on that chill from hammer?
Far too long.
Hammer is still too slow and its damage isnt considerably higher to surpress a gs.

I dont believe staff is living up to it’s expectation. Aside some very situational skills, you are just nerfing your group.

It always break my heart to see guardians wearing staves. They believe their are supporting their team with an increadiable weak healing, with a close to useless might (8 seconds for something you stood still for 4 seconds not doing anything?) or that even more than laughable aoe.

Staff is only when you need to kite/run or line of ward some place.
Grab a 1h/focus and you’ll be far more usefull. That way not only you get 3 free blocks, but get 2 blinding skills, defense against ranged attack and of course, decent dmg.

Want to play a more supportive type? Even a greatsword brings more to the group than a staff. AoE pulls (that if doesnt pull, it at least interrupt), aoe blind and some good aoe.
A single dmg you cast with your GS is a cone aoe, far stronger than your staff.

Would like to see changes to Shield's 5 skill

It is a good skill, but it should push out enemies AND prevent them to reenter it doing it’s effect.

Also, on break, I NEVER saw it’s heal allies effect that’s written on the tool tip.

What I’d do with shields is to increase greatly it’s defense rating and giving it a skill that gives you a number of blocks, like focus gives you.

As a melee, I either need to bug it out and get stuck inside in order to hit or relly o aoe.
Its hit box is so tiny that only at tje exact little spot it will work.
And no, it is bugged. If I use some teleportation skill to be on top of it, most often it takes somewhere but the hitting box range.

That is a huge deal on AC explorable mode on howling king and tunneler pathes.

It is a pity that our shield has such large CD that makes it’s use not as good as a focus.
3 free blocks (no dmg at all) + blind and condition remover is far better than a long CD bubble and 33% less dmg for a few seconds.

Shields should either have a shorter CD on their skills or add way more armor.

The staff and the guardian

I feel nerfed using a staff. Even is a support build.
As for pvp, i dont see standing still an option so that heals plus might will only happen in pre fights.
Line of warding can be sorta usefull to block progress in narrow spots, but again, other weapon sets can be far more supporting than a staff.

Right now, I dont see a use except nerfing yourself.
And no, that speed buff is awsome, but again, it is also something to be done pre fights.

After running some dungeons on explorer mode with a mace/shield, I’m strongly considering on swapping it to Sword/Focus with a secondary set as a GS.

The reason for that is if I add the right traits on top of it, I can keep my enemies blinded and vulnerables. And the focus 3 blocks seems to work far more than a shield.

What do you think?

On status wise I’m going to power/vitality as it gives me a lot of HP.

Explorer is actually the hard mode. The reason for that is because you get tokens from every boss.
Try AC Explorer. Fun and hard.

Like any other MMO outhere.
Dungeons require WAY more than gear though. AC explorer reminded me of my old WoW vanilla time, when we actually had to coordinate and L2P.

Sadly, after experiencing Ascalonian Catacombs… I deemed it is not worth the effort. It certainly did not encouraged me to play more dungeons and rewards are not even worth the try. I mean if you gonna make the dungeons with such unbalanced damage and skills ( Gravelings with Perma knockdowns.. Bosses which pull you close from ANYWHERE you are and one shot you before you can get up )

I got a wipefest for 2 hours ..then had to quit. The next day…in a miracle I was able to lead the group from the mistakes I made a day before and finish the Story mode with only 1 wipe ! I was proud of that run. Next I wanted to ‘Explore’ the dungeon , couldn’t be worse than the story right ? Wrong….

After dealing with mobs who happen to always have the kitten Poison attacks or arrows and dying 7-8 times , we are faced with gravelings who can knock you down PERMANANTLY… I mean you won’t be getting up until you are get ‘downed’ by the mobs. After dying even more to them… by another miracle we were able to kill them one by one , dying in-between. So that led us to the first boss in Foefire’s heart with 2 elite mobs. You would think you can kite the boss and kill the adds before that right ? Wrong again. The freaking boss will Pull you close and LITERALLY one shot you….. I mean where is the opportunity to escape or dodge ? He will pull you , knock you down at the same time …then do his spinning thing without you are able to roll out of the way… Before you say I am squishy or something, I am a Warrior with at least 6k HP and 700-800 Armor…. and the boss still one shot me with that skill.

So please adjust the dungeons so people won’t get scared off by them after 10 minutes they are in ..or the Dungeon experience of the game will have a bad reputation from the start. Hell I can even accept just removing thekittenPoison from the dungeon all together, without changing anythingelse. Poison is so annoying and somehow EVERY mob inside the dungeon have it. No regen, constant dots ,stuns , knockdowns… it is not a pleasant experience to play dungeons but it feels like a self-torture as it is right now.

I might sound like exaggerating now but all I can say, try the place yourself and then tell me if I am wrong. Even with the Miracle , 1 wipe , run of the Story…it took over 1-2 hours. And I saw my friends get 2 levels in PvP and getting better rewards from it than the time I spend in the dungeon and the rewards I got.

So, long rant short…either AC needs MANY adjustments to damage or elite’s skills. Or the dungeons NEEDS to have something to make all this Suffering worthwhile. Because as it is… I am quite inclined to skip ALL dungeons I see as if they carry a plague. And I LOVE dungeons in MMOs. I don’t want to miss out on them but I can’t bear the suffering and annoyance for 2 hours of wiping because of the unbalanced skills and numbers with soo little to gain in the end.

I believe you are meaning AC Explorer – Howling King, right?

Those that “perma” stun you are scavengers. They only do that after a small moment of “charging”. Then they jump on you and mow you down.
You WILL have to dodge or run (since it has limited leaping range).
The trick is exactly this: Dodge, kite, use buffs and most importantly. CC.

As a guardian, my favorite spell will always be the one that pulls everyone to me. Even if the bigger ones dont come, they do get interrupted.

If you try explorer AC again (those are “hard modes” you know?), try Ghost Eater as it is WAY easier. Just dont stay clustered all together so elementalists and rangers dont eat you alive. Also, blinds and fears are your friends! God, I love blind.

I also got mowed in my first dungeon run.

Now I’m running AC explorer and loving it.

What changed my game was actually learn to play, really. Had to learn how to dodge, how to run and most important, how to CC. Bind mobs and run being part of it.

Being an old wow raider, I was far to used to smashing my rotation almost as a chant while I kept minding other stuff like adds or position. This added a whole new “action” to my MMO genre.

I give you that: the first run is hell. Till everyone learn how to do their dodge/buff/debuff.

My piece of an advice: if someone wants a class to be fully specc’d into one role, it is usually a bad team.

Kill a lot, barely never looses on a 1v1.
Bleeds is just something doesnt exist for me.
Maybe you are facing ,any new playersmthat are mostly alearning their class.
And that should be common comsidering the game is really new.

You can always start a new character and check out allthe other different stories or’pvp till new comtent comes. Im still 48 but i didnt rush, im loving every bits of it. Peop.e who rushed now have the honor to wit and wait while everyone is trying to catch up.
