Guilds are just glorified chats atm.
Even though I do see an increase of activity in playerbase.
I mostly log in to do daily and log off.
Living Story content delivered so far is boring and even though if it evolves to something awsome, it sure is taking it’s sweet time to do it.
Game has a great potential but it doesnt have any content after you complete the map.
I know it may be part of my frustration for actually have any end content, but shouldnt we get anything interesting already?
I prefer Mace/Shield when running +Boon Duration for perma-Protection. I like to pair Focus with Scepter as the blocks are very nice in a ranged situation. Both are good and have their place.
GL
Blood~
Do help me please.
How do you get perma protection?
If it lasts 4 seconds and its CD is 24 sec, how do you overcome the gap?
is it even possible?
Yes, I see your point beren.
It just feel a pity to have this game become a “secondary” game or some sort of rotation.
I really wish I could play more this game, however, I feel that, outside pvp, there is nothing now.
So when is next part of the chain?
It was sorta disappointing, I must tell you.
Most of my close friends that used to love GW2 came back and we were expecting something exciting to do.
However, we did some boring stuff (run around fixing signs and helping fallen) and then what?
Sadly, for more that we love this game, there is absolutely nothing to do, unless I go pvp.
(and yes, we have 100% map completion and grinding for legendary isnt fun).
Where’s the exciting content?
Where’s that content that could reward us but would require coordination and skill to overcome? We don’t need raids. FotM were really cool once added, but someone inside Arena net had the brilliant idea of forcing people to grind 10 – almost the same- level… making a really cool content more of a chore.
Why not just make us pass each of the fract once and than go get to what would be level 10? We would see a dificulty scale. From 1-9, I barely see any difference.
Why not add more FotM types of instances. You could keep the current way to give ascended gear through Laurel, that is indeed a cool idea.
But you also could keep faster ways that would support those that coordinated hard for it.
For example, lets say you add ascended chest in the future.
That chest token could drop at the end of an instance that requires hard work to get there (boss mechanics), similar to raids, but with 5 people.
But you also could get the item through dailies, working on it on daily basis for 35 days (how it is right now).
HOWEVER, the instance one has an unique/awsome skin. (particle effect!)
The lack of content is disturbing.
Love my charr, love how his tail moves, love the game envirioment, every race with their own point of view, own architeture and behavior.
Really enjoyed getting 100% map complete (except the Norn part, that pretty bland).
But you guys need to add some coordination driven content.
If that will be an instance, a major event (no zerging please), it is up to you.
My server beat the crap out of IoJ when you guys were on tier 2 :#)
Power, vit, tough with some knight pieces in the mix.
AH + EM with some variables in the mix. Mostly shout build with runes of soldier.
So, control/support (as we can’t use the word tank!).
Title says it all.
I only use shields on gimmick fights. But when I do, not really sure if Im doing it right.
I was using 5% crit on my shield but Im feeling it doesnt affect my mace at all.
So, what sigil are you guys using? (Pve tank support)
Lets say I have a mace with +5% crit chance. If I add that same sigil to a shield, will my passive crit goes to ten percent?
Or the reason accuracy does show on player tab is because it only adds crit chance to the attacks of that specific weapon?
I agree that this game seemed to have stopped all of sudden.
I’m amazed how someone even mention an easy instance like CoF to be standard for anything.
It’s like saying you dont need tanks in WoW because your pet could tank RFD or SFK.
Now, go do Arah (exp) or any FotM lvl 10.
Bringing a tank (a charr stacked with toughness) will force mobs to focus fire on them. Most of them.
That means GC can really dps. The problem is that full GC is usually a drag to any PT as they dont survive anything and rarely bring something to the table.
A good team is formed of at least one “tank”, and 4 dpsers that also can throw some support here and there.
At least that’s how an advanced dungeon runs… not CoF….
It is a fix, and a welcome one.
But I’d still change it’s base design.
FotM really changes when you reach lvl 10 and then lvl 20 *(never got to lvl 30 so I dont know).
Those inbetween levels are just filling.
What I’d honest change, to push out the grind feel, but still let it be a scaling dungeon, would make this way:
Fractal 0-9 is now called level 1. You get in fractal and as soon you finish all 9 (with a break for repairs and resupply every 3) you’d promoted to fractal level 2.
Fractal 10-19 is now called level 2.
And so son, all the way to lvl 30. (wich would be now level 3).
I have to say that the volume of complaining about this one issue has certainly surpassed the actual level of severity.
We have complained. Anet responded.
TBH I didn’t mind the event. I thought it was a nice tower-defense style mode. Being able to play with friends is always a plus and would be nice in the future.
Complaining about an entirely optional, free, temporary event is really silly in the grand scheme of things. Wanting and suggesting improvements is one thing, but straight raging over a mini game just seems…petty.
What bothers me is the solution to the problem of people having a hard time. There were two achievements: an easy one for just completing the mini-game, and a hard one for completing it in a perfect fashion. That’s the way achievements should work. That’s the way they work on every other achievement platform that exists. So to quell everyone, they are just going to give the easy and hard achievements to people for just finishing. There are game wide implications to that attitude and how people will play. Horrible, horrible precedence to set.
Not playing with friends takes the online aspect of GW2.
Having played Guild Wars 1 I would have sworn that A-Net was one of the best game designers in the world, but this company, as it exists now, isn’t very good at what they do.
Wow, and all this because they didn’t make one activity perfect on the first try? Who are we to decide that a game company can’t make small mistakes too at times? They are only human.
In my opinion the one and only real reason why people are upset about getting in already running games is the achievement.
Sure, it would be fun to do with a group of friends too. And I hope they’ll implement it at one point. But I seriously doubt that this one activity would be a game breaker for any reasonable person.
Only real problem I have with it game design wise is that it takes too long to complete, and the pause between waves isn’t enough to do anything. It needs some more balancing.
And the achievement and dead doylak problem could be remedied easily as well by resurrecting all of them after each wave and giving out points for every good wave, as I’ve stated before already.
We are costumers.
Since FotM insane grind (boring leveling all the way to 10, then to 20) I was putting my hopes on these content patch.
Boring dungeon (but ok) with no group oriented events. Pugging is just hellish.
Snowball Mayhem or Toyapocalipse would be really fun to do with my friends.
And this is a huge mistake.
Great idea Sollith, but I still wish we had some pve content we could do as a guild (not just 5 people).
*Southsore cove event would be great if we were able to form a raid or something and the 20 of us join in the same overflow. Maybe we should be able to choose wich overflow we were?
- Snowball Mayhem and Toyapocalipse got ruined for me because I can’t play with my friends. I dont play a MMO to play alone.
- “Raids” (a dungeon that fits more than 5) would be great.
- Yes, we capture temple of Balthazar time to time, it is cool, but it gets old.
So, I’m part of a very active guild but the only activity we can run together is WvWvW.
Special Events always send us across overflow servers or simply dont let us play as a team.
Dungeons are 5 people only.
PVP is narrowed down to WvWvW or some tournement with only 5 people at a time.
Should we rename this to “Random Wars”?
Please, I understand premades should never face pugs in pvp and it is great that lonely wolves can still get into toyapocalipses events.
But we need “Join as a party” in ANY activity. Even, we need places where we could bring more than 5.
In that WoW did it right. 25 man for bigger guilds, 10 man for smaller ones.
Toyapocalise was even worse than that island even with a horrid add phase.
We couldnt join in the same over flow and again, we cant join in the same toyapocalipse.
Even snowball mayhem or any other activity. We would LOVE to be able to play together.
Thank you.
We need more group oriented things, this would be another great oportunity to let our guild work together….
However we can’t.
Failed event.
You want Charr.
Human flees at sight of battle or to save their queen.
Norn are good but then…. squirrel.
Charr needs no gods.
Out of subject, to be honest, the Focus is not selfish at all, not only because it can keep you alive due it’s amazing block skill 5, but because its 4 has a bouncing ray that applies Regen to allies and cures a condition on them, as well as yourself. It’s really great for group play too; it’s just not as defensive as Shield, which I certainly like very much.
LOL. Someone doesn’t have experience in proper teamwork.
The 4skill is slow, unreliable because it can bounce onto an enemy and disappear.
The 5skill only protects you – That makes it a selfish skill.Compared to the Shield, which has AoE protection and defense against projectiles, it IS the selfish solo play item. I’m confident about this because I use the Focus, it’s my gear of choice.
I’m not good at teamwork because my comp lags, and it’s the weapon you want when you’re concerned about protecting your own life.Sorry but Focus is NOT “selfish”. In a group, as a Guardian you will often be tanking. You are the one keeping mobs attention and keeping them off the group. Between 3 blocks and condremove/blind, Focus allows us to stay up longer doing our job.
When I say ‘selfish’, I mean that it’s focused more on you then the group.
It’s the ideal item for solo-play, because that 5skill is all about YOU. There’s no wasted power from balancing. So sorry for the misunderstanding in definitions.
Dont call on him.
Most mobs do attack highest toughness in group.
At least they dont leave me.
Staying alive (thus 3 blocks from focus + being able to heal/mace yourself up) is far more important to your group instead of a small ranged defense (gimmick) with a huge CD).
First. Yes, I’m talking about pve.
To some comments. You are just nerfing yourself and your group by using a shield.
4: Protection lasts 4 secs with a long CD. No, it isnt worth it. A hammer can keep it the same way permanently and you still get a built in symbol and far more dps. And no your shield wont make real difference in soaking dmg.
So using a shield for protection instead of a 2 hammer you are nerfing yourself and your group.
5: Heal is barely noticeable. 1500 with a 45 sec CD and a push back that wont work on most bosses make it either considerable for WvW (where you require a lot of guardians to keep a bubble rotation to protect siege weapons) or a laughable defense in pve.
If you use a focus, not only you get 3 blocks but you can cast heal under it, or you can use your mace/relly on AH to fill up your HP.
Yes, it wont have the same “4 seconds of ranged protection” that your bubble gives to you and your party, but since you are controling the fight (or why would you use a shield?) the liability to have mobs attacks your party mates is rather dim.
Someone back there said that if they give a permanent protection to a shield it would make hammer useless.
The way it seems they designed the shield is to work with a scepter only.
Yes.
So you could stay behind your team or back there with your squishies, while using 4 to give protection for a irrelevant period of time (4 sec) to whoever is tanking, while range it down with your scepter.
Also you could lock your enemies with a scepter, when they move back in, push them back and lock again soon.
The way I see it, wielding a shield is a sad nerf to your tanking capacity and you should be ashamed to use it outside WvWvW.
^it’s not completely destroyed lol
Not it’s not.
It still works.
But we are weaker.
However, people can still dodge out of my hammer 5, my rune of the soldier still doesnt remove conditions underwater, I still have a for show shield, and my health is far too low. Not to mention our sad joke called scepter.
We relly on boons and traits synergy to keep going, however, we are weaker today. Again.
So you nerfed guardian’s tanking abilty. Not sure if you noticed it.
Vigor was 1 sec and lasted 1 sec with no real CD. Not it lasts 5 sec with a 5 sec CD.
With altruistic healing, we could heal ourselves for 77 HP everytime it was applied. Since most altruist healing builds also used empowering might, we could be able to sustain a healing stream.
On a 5 sec window, before nerf, we could keep a 770 healing every 5 sec assuming you always crit. (77*2*5)
Now we are capped at 462. (77*5+77)
On a long fight, this is a huge loss to our self healing capacity, specially if you remember we are tanks (or control if you will, since we can’t really taunt)
WoW, who wouldnt take an eng?
Have you ever seen a full support eng?
The thing is, it is not super hard by any stretch of the imagination. It is mildly difficult at best.
Personally, I loved the clocktower, but apparently, anet has given in to all the whining and made it so easy everyone will finish it now sooner or later.
So… you’re wanting people to fail? How else is someone supposed to interpret that?
So you want noone to fail? even not the guys that give up after 2 tries? or how am i supposed to interpret that?
Yes some people will fail this and yet if everyone made it this wouldn’t even be an achievement. Plz think before you speak, if you want everyone to do everything you’ll take all the challenge away, and challenge is what makes a game fun. You may as well just watch a movie if there’s no challenge…
Why don’t you accept that not every single aspect in a game needs to be completed for it to be fun? If you keep doing something that frustrates you over and over, that’s your problem, not the problem of the game.
You’re basicly saying the same as, dungeons are to hard because you died in them…
GW2 has stuff for everyone, do the stuff that is ment for your playstyle and don’t complain about content that isn’t, cause you know what, you’re not the only person in the world.
This attitude won’t stand. And it certainly won’t retain players. ArenaNet is dutifully aware of this (they see it in their metrics.)
Overcoming challenge is one thing – overcoming bad design in whats should be the most casual of casual content (Holidays) and yes – EVERYONE should be able to do it regardless of their gaming dexterity.
This is NOT a platforming game, people didn’t buy it for one and this kind of thing has to go. Immediately.
I’ll pray for your soul teenager.
They made it a little less crowded coz they split players among 4 platforms.
However, what I’d still do, would split people based on race (or at least try to do it).
It is still very doable regardless.
Quoting another player:
“From GW2 launch to now the number of people logging in has declined rapidly. And no one said the game was dying but there are plenty of servers where it is like a ghost town and if you go off of the “server status” then that says it all because those are about characters made on that server not people logged in."
It is sad to see you making up information.
Dont you know server population isnt based on accounts created, but on “online” players status in a given time.
That’s why you can’t create a char today at a certain server, but if you give it a day you can.
Also, I can’t see my server as a ghost town. I’m going for 100% map completition and everywhere I go, no matter how dark that corner is, there’s always people around.
Population fluctuates, indeed.
It decreased to some extent as it is normal to any game, specially a game with no real “end game”. But it comes back up every month on every content patch.
And today, is one of those days.
I’m pretty sure they will simply give that stupid hat to everyone so all this QQ can stop.
We have a shield as a class symbol showing that we protect our party, wich is true.
However, when you are doing your job is a tank/control guardian anyone here is insane enough to wield a shield outside gimmick situations?
I personally tank with a mace/focus. Heals, healing symbol, and a free block as a number 3 on a short CD, that added to a blind/heal + 3 blocks makes it the best set up for “tanking”.
And when I’m not using those for bosses or hard hitting mobs, I’m always with greatsword… wich is… the class symbol for warriors.
Makes me sad. Shields should be our main tanking offhand.
However, it’s long long long CD and real use only against ranged makes me sad.
What I’d do to fix it would be greatly decrease shield’s CD:
- number 4 has no reason why it shouldnt be designed to allow us to keep protection permanently, make it lasts 10 sec and it’s CD 8 sec.
- number 5, on the other hand, really either need a aoe healing boost (I not even notice it) or it’s bubble should lasts far longer for its CD.
Fix Arah event.
Make those event not happen that often. It sucks.
So Arah is bugged on my server and I know some people know how to jump it.
Sadly, such crucial bug hasnt been fixed by Anet.
Anyone can point me how to jump it?
Arah gear is horrid looking.
And I highly doubt that Simin at l4 isnt buggy. She will always disapppear at 50% no matter how long she’s out making that fight a loop.
I dont see a problem with a hard mechanics, but the way it is its just requires a certain glass cannon spec to actually have a chance.
Unless you do the four spark trick so you actually have a chance.
P4: Lupicus spwan adds at the helping npc.
Rezzing that npc anywhere in the dungeons is a bad idea.
P4: no matter what happens or how long she s been out, dwayne priests always get invisible at 50%, even if she s been out for ten secs.
Also, sometimea those sparka dont really activate.
I believe ascended gear was something that was required to exist since launch, like they said.
However, they just realize it later.
The problem isnt the existance of a better item that shouldnt be acessible to few.
The problem is that, in order to require it, you need to grind mindlessly over and over again.
That “mindlessly” part is the problem.
What I’d do to fix it would be to have an easy mode where everyone can go and get those relicis. This way, slowly, but surely, they could grind their way to ascended.
I’d add a medium mode where those fractals would be escalted to somewhere what we know as lvl 10, with agony, and, at the end of all 9 fractals, you’d be surely rewarded with an ascended backpiece.
And another hard more, wich could reward a ring, but it could be siminlar to fractal 30.
There, so people that can’t be competent enough to get into harder levels would have the option to grind.
People that are good could focus on w/e difficulty level they want and work their way to get it.
Now, as the problem of population being concentraded in one spot, they said they gonna fix it in the next 3 content patches. They recognized it was a mistake and it wont happen again.
I cant agree.
The only reason why the social aspect of the game is lacking is because we dont need to coordinate to get anything done.
Any explorer (well, aside arah maybe) is doable with pugs. Any dungeon can be taken down in a matter of hours.
So why coordinate?
I believe we should be able to equip permanently a tome and use it as ranged.
I know tomes dont exist outside our skill, but it makes more sense lore wise.
Do post it bash.
I wish I could drop my shouts, but it has such great synergy with my rune (rune of soldier) and adds so much to my other traits (altruistic healing) that I can’t see myself using any signet outside the healing one.
On pve, however, I feel it is mandatory judgement signet for 10% less dmg.
Not sure.
You were good enough playing, but I still believe your HP is far too low.
We hit for around the same and I have almost 20k. I use rune of soldier btw. (and a tanky spec, but on a squishier one I have 17k)Any build over 16k imo is sacrificing too much. I would like to see a video of your ww hitting for 5k with 20k hp. I call bs it may hit for 3k once in a While. To th op dont listen to the nae sayers most of these hp stackers are bad and they need a buffer to stay alive
What makes you think any tanky spec wouldnt have as much power as any dps spec? It’s base status are power/vit/tough with some knight gear threw in the mix. So you’d have the same power (maybe 150 less due to talents) and decent crit chance (I run with 39% = sigil of accuracy + 5% tough converted into precision).
The differences would be on crits dmg, but still, if go full berserker (or close to it) wich would actually give you roughly 50%~70% crit dmg, you’ll be just a paper in pvp.
That’s how I always dealed with “lolglass cannon” specs.
Also, that spec has an extreme weakeness: Low HP and it’s offset (hit to heal) is destroyed if your enemy class is simply kiting you. Also, on melee range, any warrior worth their sault can burst you down. All they need is to wait for a right moment (as soon you popped your healing = 4k healing with a block).
The OP has skill and is fighting in a group. He actually knows when to retreat and his healing block (forgot the name) is a life saver when running.
I just don’t see that build actually working outside group play where you may not be focused. 11k HP is far too low.
Not sure.
You were good enough playing, but I still believe your HP is far too low.

I dont agree with the dificulty of getting exotics and getting to 80 on top of gear… it is easy.
Nor I cant agree that playing a support is useless. Please.
Any good group on a harder dungeon needs support.
In fact, if you trade off all dps for supporters or hybrids your group will fare better.
Grind is boring and brainless.
Challenging content is fun and achieving.
Giving items for people that can drag themselves through the same old instance (wich is easy regardless how you look, and yes, agony doesnt make it impossible) is boring.
Rewarding players that actually put up a fight, got up together, adjusted theirs skills to an encounter and then actually overcame it is good.
Right now, GW2 became an extremly grinding game, with unrealistic requirements for those ascended gear that requires only time sink, not skill.
Loved FotM, the snow storm one always blows my mind on how awsome it is. But I’d rather see it far harder, with more complicated mechanics with a reward at an idea than all this grind.
Easy fix?
Make it so that brainless/incompetent players can get it if they grind the easy mode till no end and give a hardcore option (a.k.a. explorer) that requires a LOT of teamwork/coordination/skill sets to actually do it and reward those that do it (you know, loot table).
Not to mention the dirty grind.
You either grind the same content over and over till you get 1850 fractals or you grind painfully to get 50 ectos and 250t6 mats (and after that, it is 250 ecto, you know?)
It is very unfortunate that it ended up this way. Anet saw a bleeding of player retention in sept and they scrambled. The only thing they could come up with was to grind and add in VP and reduce the drop rates of loot. This was an effort to retain and keep players long term and to stem the flow.
However this has had a horrific effect on population (and numbers) and now that normal players are seeing what is involved – they are getting irritated with it. In order to monetize what is left of the population they are forcing the grind and the casuals to purchase gems in order to continue gearing up or catching goal posts.I dont think it was a good decision and it has had serious consequences. I hoped that they would have had more HP in the pipe but didnt and short term quick retention is grind. It is cost effective and quicker to create from what I have been told.
I’m surprised no big MMO site has talked about it yet.
They only reacted to bots when that guy posted about the balant amount of bots on a certain website….
Gm ediited my post thead name….
At least leave the word grind iin there (in my opnion gw2 is too grindy).
I feel fooled by devs by tje amount of grind and lack of challenge Im seeing in game.
I’m not the same people that were complaining, but asking for end game achievements isnt the same as asking for end game grind.
What they could do is add some really hard dungeon that could simply reward those ascended gear as a loot table at the end AND keep the current system on, so people that were trying to get there (hoarding relics as they attempt) or have time to grind could still get the same result.
Hell, i’d rather my reward to be just an awsome cosmetic gear, as long it doesnt involve grinding. It would be fun to have really hard challenges to overcome, that actually took us weeks to progress in it.
250 t6 mats + 50 gobs (later you’ll require 250 gobs for another upgrade) or 1850 relics isnt exactly fun to gather. It is a plain a simple grind.
Why not make a very hard boss that requires COORDINATION and learning a fight that rewards you those items? You know, loot table?
The way it is now, we only have an insane grind.
I dont mind having those 2 ways to get gear, after all, some people that wants to grind or cant take down that hard instance but tries a lot (thus getting 1850 relics) could achieve it.
But game should favor skill and coordination. Not running fractals over and over till you puke. That’s grinding.
Do /surprised on your charr and youll get the answear.
