You do realize you just listed like 7 skills when other classes can do the same things with a couple clicks?
While immobilized they can still do plenty of stuff to make your assault pretty useless.
Also what you are mentioning is only viable in pvp, I’m guessing you don’t mean pve ‘coz mobs ain’t that hard generally, and goin melee on “2HKO bosses” is… weird…

1st: we do have sub-par damage overall, what (sorta) makes up for it we got many control skills like blocks, knockbacks, immobilizes and such.
2nd: assuming you want to use turrets for what they were originally thought: turret skills HAVE HUGE cooldowns so QUIT it man, in pvp you HAVE to trait’em to get’em to survive, and whenever facing an AoE focused enemy they ARE going to blow fast, in WvW they are useless, in PvE they WOULD be useful, just not while leveling/exploring ‘coz you want to travel fast, maybe inside dungeons in general, too bad “Deployable turrets” trait is bugged and doesn’t work outside of PvP.

Sad to say but unfortunately power shoes only work in combat, it’s quite weird that we are the only class that gets BWE1-like changes, ’coz all other classes are having those “combat-only” skills reworked in “always”.

Being a lv22 isn’t that much time, you can pick it later without regretting it, I think you should take your time and focus on which you like the most, just the general moves and things they can do, NOT the results, being cool and keeping playing that only main character is much of an achievement, that feeling… you know? feeling proud of your “digital yourself” aka avatar, unless yer just role-playing the class.
anyway, which item did you pick at character creation? I think the most fitting on charrs are goggles, theyz uber-cool on charrs, the backpack is kinda bad-looking, hard to match with most armors, can’t dye+crippling issues with weps AND armors, the monocle isn’t an exclusive as it’s part of the Noble armor set.
If you are actually concerned about pve results more than just liking the class then I’d say you should really try something else, atm most traits are bugged, skills too, some need reworking, some are just worthless, w8 until it gets fixed THEN play it, that is my suggestion, just check the sticky list of bugs, it’s the biggest out of all classes, and we have yet to get a response from devs whether they are being fixed or not in the future… since day1…
Our ability to change our playstyle on the go switkittenits as fast as needed by the situation, our limit is the sky… and the bugs obviously.

Man just what’s wrong with you? you obviously can play but the it ain’t just pvp and besides we should be rewarded for our efforts no matter the situation, engineers in pvp usually manage around 4 weapons+toolbelt, knowing exactly what they are doing PLUS keeping track of what’s happening around’em… don’t you feel this is a crazy amount of things to do just to be average?

You can’t seriously expect us to play a class that got nothing that actually works, the few things working are outdone by the whole lot of the other classes, you may pvp fine, but what exactly are you goin to do when you face an opponent with your same “so called” level of expertise playing another class? I’d like to know that since half of engineer’s skills are bugged.
Whenever I pvp with my engi I feel like I mastered my class so much I’m doing miracles, but even thought I put so much effort into what I do, the results are VERY poor.

Man try to make some sense it obviously ain’t like that, the guy clearly meant that bug fixed would mean an entirely different situation, they have yet to be addressed and it’s been like this since day1 with NO response on dev side even possibly working on such a HUGE issue… do you get my point?
Obviously pve turrets would do some difference, but that’s just one trait that actually works in pvp and should be easy to fix for pve, they are easy to place in unreachable spots AND don’t suffer the “invulnerable” bug, doesn’t it sound tasty just hearin about it even thought they do need the rework on the cooldowns?

Based on your description of what happened, you didn’t chase a warrior, you chased some1 that didn’t even want to fight ’coz sparring in WvW is meaningless and brings no real benefits, if you let the guy run, nothing would have changed, besides his pockets due to repairs.
Also I don’t really see how you guys are contributing to the topic by givin us stories and numbers when it’s clear that all we want is fixes and not nerfs (nerfs are just stupid if things aren’t even working).

You’d do close-range skills in WvW? you’re dreaming, especially blunderbuss which needs you to literally stand on your opponent to be effective.
I’d also add to the list that in order to have blunderbuss, which is a close range skill, to deal that much damage you’d have to build glass-cannon…. Do you get it?

You read my suggestion, plus do it often, no I’m not trolling, I’m serious, ‘coz it can’t be that wintersday section got more dev posts in 1 day than engineers since day1.
Also we have yet to read something like " we are aware of the issue and we are trying to fix it" even thought we got a bug list longer than any1 else’s.
I apologize in advance if I sound like flaming or violating some kind of rule but just wanted to voice my thoughts, if any mod feels like this should be deleted I’ll accept it.

Please don’t start another discussion over might stacking when there’s already plenty of topics to discuss it, just consider this1 a question being answered and thus should be closed.
Also because the OP simply tried to justify the nerf with sigils which isn’t really the thing ‘coz patch notes didn’t take into account any other thing, if so then we should have been nerfed in the past ’coz of might stacking.

I agree, but then there’s no meaning in argumenting about other classes when it’s clear we need a lot of bug fixes, whoever starts a conversation like this is simply doing it wrong, that is why I hate how we got nerfed instead of having bugs addressed first, again, since launch…

You say we got spammable AoE but you forgot that it needs manual aiming, physically trained hands (aka hurts your wrist) or gamer mouses (because even the thing they just nerfed still lacks a bug fix, which is auto-skill1), they SCATTER, they are easily avoidable, they fly slowly, they often hit the ceiling while flying, even in huge dungeons, somehow…
You see this AoE isn’t as perfect as you described a couple posts ago?
You should understand that most people in engineer section aren’t complaining because of the grenade nerf, we are complaining because they didn’t fix bugs and managed to destroy our only viable option instead of working fixes!

If you are comparing warriors and engineers then you’d better take into account half of our skills are not working as intended or bugged so we got less skills even thought we should be… “versatile”
Did you notice how Casia.4281 said blunderbuss is “high” damage and so is the broken and laggy “leap” jump-shot (I’m guessin it’s that)?
You guys shouldn’t compare us to other classes, we simply DON’T have viable options to play now, everything we have that WORKS (and thus isn’t bugged) is sub-par and does inadeguate damage in any situation, most of our skills are broken, traits too, we are the only class that didn’t get bug-fixes when we needed the most and got nerfs instead of something to make up for them, every single time, we can’t but support or try to tank, but we can’t do it well ’coz half of our stuff is bugged or needs reworking.
If things worked like they should, this patch wouldn’t have been so bad ‘coz we’d have other decent options to play.
I completely agree with you MrSilver.5269, I went through the same situations, I still wasn’t into pvp to realize what kind of nerf was the flamthrower actually, but a few seconds after reading those patches I realized it, though elixir gun never actually worked well besides the super elixir, but now, with THIS patch, they’ve done it, we can’t play anymore with anything really, our viable (and I mean VIABLE because all the rest is broken, not just weak, BUGGED) option just got nerfed for nothing in exchange, I feel like I wasted my entire gameplay on the engineer I love, and can’t play anything but that ‘coz I’d feel engi-sick if you know what I mean.
I’d be a lil relieved to know the devs are AT LEAST trying to fix the bugs, but as of now NONE showed ANY response about those, not even a single: “we are aware of the issue and we are working to solve it” like they usually do, nuh-uh, nope, nada.
They’ve just kicked in the face a big part of their community and the scary thing is they didn’t realize it yet.

PvE=The most viable right now is P/P or P/S but… it’s sub-par to everything that wants to deal just damage (P/P is meant for this… I guess?), be it instant or DoT, that is.
WvW=nothing really, unless you wanna use P/P anyway and use toolkit for fishing unaware players out of their safe stronghold
PvP=this is kinda weird, but we can’t burst, we can’t deal condition effectively, we can just control with knockbacks and blowouts, be tricky and give some support, else your choice would be bunker.
Sad thing is the fact that there’s pve-weapon bundles that work better than engineer’s even thought they should have the same skills, I’ll point out 2 of these:
1st-flamethrower at Claw of Jormag event, I’m not sure about it skill-1 but it has jump shot… and it doesn’t seem to show the lagg we suffer
2nd-some sort of elixir gun(dun remember the name atm), located in one of the peninsulas/islands in the southern area, the thing is it got Fumigate, but it works WAY better compared to ours, poisons better and damages better, the hits don’t seem as buggy as ours and the animation required is WAY shorter, and yea, I was playing engi while tryin those.
You see? It’s STUPID bugs, they got things to work they should be easy to patch why is it taking MONTHS????
Now our only option left is exploiting our flamethrower to hit targets through walls in hope it gets finally fixed… but I wouldn’t see its brokeness due to the puppy damage it provides.
You guys forgot to say grenades scatter, just to say… did you try poison grenade recently? it scatters the most (even more than pre-patch imo), even at 600 range
that may be truth but iz a shame that a weapon’s auto-skill1 doesn’t work properly, and even if it worked it’d do puppy damage

Might is the worst buff, it requires huge amounts of stacks and dedicated builds in order to be effective, you shouldn’t do paper maths like that, just think about this, the time you waste buffing is time you could have used skills, many skills, which means damage, also in order to be effective you have to keep buffing might, which will make you lose the focus on the ongoin battle and is likely to run out be4 you killed everything, not to mention wasting traits, points, runes, sigils, skill slots for elixirs or… even worse… the flamthrower.
Might is not useful, not worth stacking, in any combat situation, period.
The thing that gets me mad is, we have to struggle like hell to get the same results of other classes showing MUCH less effort, on top of it ALL classes switch weapons, they HAVE to in order to be truly useful, just we have lower cooldown on it and waste an utility slot for that I think this balances it, but NO they have to nerf us to kingdom come!
And no it’s not just rifle and turret engis, every engi IS
Plus flamthrower’s still bugged even thought the patch was kinda meant for it, can’t but lol at it with a sad face.

As vulnerability works now it’s NOT a reliable debuff, that’s why I think only engineers can use it effectively, we are the only class that can get it to max stack (which is the only time vulnerability’s useful), too bad we can’t get advantage of it due to extremely low overall damage.

actually yes, if I’m not wrong they can hit up to 3 targets if packed together, but their daggers won’t scatter like grenades do+theyz fast and people won’t dodge’em, also yea they can do it every X seconds, ‘coz they don’t use just utilities, they have cloak and dagger!
plus they can switch to the highly reliable pistols which can blind ’till kingdom come AND do damage at the same time thanks to the combo field.

Trust me I’ve been around since day1 and got over 350hrs of engineer gameplay, I DID explore all the possible options and I say we have nothing to play with now, if you actually think the bugs will be addressed soon then I’m sorry but the list provided has been almost entirely the same since day1, exept for sigils which got announced like 20 days ago by Jon, back then I thought “oh then they are gonna fix flamethrower bugs” BZZZT NO! they DIDN’T, they didn’t fix a thing since last patch now it’ll be another entire month be4 we get addressed (maybe), SHAME on whoever’s working the engineer bugs.

You are probably missing many points so I’ll start with the first, kitten is an automated bad-words correction in order to keep things polite, kittens=cats, it’s pretty fun to see people say it many times, anyway back to topic, grenades were our only way to do damage on par with other classes and to be effective it requires:
-30 points
-a dedicated slot
-a power equipment to make up for the atk-power stat loss from kit swapping
AND on top of it grenades scatter, always, you literally have to be FAR away from your sitting duck target in order to use this because of the projectile animation being so slow to hit the target, which ultimately punishes those that try and stay in the AoE.
Now consider this, the already extremely situational kit (grenades can be used effectively in WvW and dungeons only) gets nerfed, we don’t have another reliable way to DPS, we already struggle a lot when pulling more than one mob in pve without bombs, we are very likely to die, especially if you consider how sucky our downed skills are, our turrets don’t work, all traits are bugged and they are sucky by default, elixirs are sub-par utilities, gadgets are even worse, our main weapons are huge let downs which got a bit of utility but ultimately can’t do a thing all alone, we don’t have useful elites, the list goes on and on and guess what?
Yep we don’t have a decent thing to play with.
Couple this with non-existent attention of devs in our section (just check the topics, the only official answers are just mods closing topics, we only got a couple messages from Jon and they weren’t exactly useful, seemed rushed, and not satisfyin at all), and you’ll get the idea of what’s goin on, for more information check the bug list, it’s been the same since day1 besides the sigil thingie.

Quit I’m doing the same, I can’t accept the fact that I put over 350hrs on a class that’s useless now, I’m fed up with the same old builds that do half the things they should AND we don’t EVER get responses, decent and official ones that is!
It’s pretty clear that they HATE us, we have nothing to play with now.

Flamethrower got sub-par damage compared to anything really, don’t use it for damage, you’ll end up wasting runes, sigils and traits that most other classes won’t even need to do much more damage compared to us, and don’t even get me started on the buggyness of skill1 AND 2 still not fixed.

I feel exactly the same, but we have no options actually, ‘coz you can’t really say pistols are useful damage-wise.
We are now sub-par in pvp and sub-anything in pve
usually “nearby allies” means 180-240 radius, rune of the centaur has that range
There’s no real option besides grenades actually, now we are left with nothing but bugged skills and unreliable stuff.
I wish I could say we could go pistol, but that’s not really an option, I switched to that out of boredom and got to say, no matter the situation, others are better than us, ALWAYS and do that much MUCH easily.
I’d actually do this if I didn’t like engineers mechanics and style, but I’d feel guilty and somewhat dirty inside myself for getting rid of over 350 hrs of gameplay even thought now are basically useless no matter how you see it.
Wasting time to stack might is a bad idea overall no matter the situation, would you waste all your utilities and keep switkittenit in the middle of pvp actually? and don’t even get me started on the usefulness of flamethrower please.
They NEVER ever listen to us, now THIS! I wouldn’t want to quit but if our bugs and problems don’t get addressed in matter of days (and I mean 3 not 20 Jon) we WILL quit, we literally don’t ever get an answer if a mod wants to try and close this topic please tell me where I’m mistaken, since day1 we only got a couple of posts (literally) from Jon and for the rest of the time we were left behind and forgotten only to be SOMEHOW nerfed once a while with totally unjust patches, not dealing with MASSIVE bugs that are our most important concerns.
It’s pretty clear none of Anet’s staff reads our posts, if so we want answers once a while, definite ones and not rushed from some kind of iphone or smtg.
So here’s my idea, let’s stop posting in this section and get wintersday section (which got literally LOTS of answers already, more than we EVER got, counting day1’s) crowded.
Let’s try and merge the remaining topics into this1 maybe?

We’r the only class that gets “only-in-combat” mov.spd buffs instead of overall like others’ utilities do (thieves’ signet skill and such)… our only reliable swiftness really is speedy kits, that or centaur runes…
Seriously… what a HUGE let down, I mean, fine sigils now work as they SHOULD have had since day1… now kits retain stats? BZZZT NO! we STILL lose the weapon attack power! fine! mostly affected by pve anyway!…. EVERYTHING ELSE… where did it go? that long list of unfixed and embarassing bugs that have been around since BWE?
Where’s my flamethrower? Ppl like to get our hopes high… sigils on FT my kitten GW1-reward minipet I say!

Grenades just got nerfed, considering the weapon attack power still doesn’t seem to retain effectively, on top of it we still miss the auto-atk from skill1! however this didn’t change things much…

You may take it as a complaint, but I’ve been around since day1 and I’m fed up to see my class completely left behind, always the same skills and traits to use, half skills/traits broken, no useful ELITE, people tell me go play other classes but I love engineer and can’t like anything but that.
I can’t endure this any longer, so I’ll quit ’till next DECENT patch, just try tell me a reason I should go on playing my engi after… this… please…

You are right exept I’d care more about players than money, consider this also:
I mentioned in my first post the exotics’ drops increase, they won’t affect the market that much, ’coz they are random anyway, weapons, armors and such were meant to be salvageable anyway, so a lil lower cost would fix the difference from exotics and ectos.
They’d drop more often, make players happier and grant a constant income of money that’s way more reliable than goin off somewhere for the daily only to get a couple whites and blues…
Oh and they’d also let us finally complete our exotics armor sets (‘coz you want to have multiple of’em for each build and you’r goin to spend a lot on that, especially if you want to WvW).

You can’t possibly run away from a zerg, a decent one at least, they’ll cripple, immobilize, pull and throw you so much stuff you’ll hardly survive unless you are a thief and go stealth.
The repair cost is what makes people go zerg, why the kitten should I risk constantly repairing when I can play like 1-2hrs without dyin in a zerg with constant incomes of karma? And how am I supposed to actually make the difference if I’m a lowbie and don’t have enough silvers to repair AND buy blueprints?
IMO the costs of WvW are very unbalanced, how is somebody supposed to lose THAT many silvers for doing it right?

I completely agree on what you are saying but they still haven’t given a response on that matter so I’m trying to come up with some ideas to improve the general thingie.
However you’ll agree that exploring and doing events gives very low reward compared to other methods, maybe roaming is as productive but very boring, basically people do that for farming purposes, which is wrong.
