All of the above – we are individual – small guild – big guild, friendly. We are competitive but also have some great fun attempting any objective.

Also if you are a Euro / Oceanic / Asian guild, you will have a great opportunity to care out a name for yourself on this server you will be known, and recognized.

It is undeniably an efficient way of communication, and its been great seeing more faces in it lately – running around and doing things with much faster response times.

I personally do not mind other servers advertising on this thread the thread was created to highlight our plight and all these people have merely offered an alternative to re-balance the population out and ease the pressure.

Anyone considering Piken or may have joined recently will see this thread and understand 1 that we are full at prime time EU and Queues are seriously long and 2 they also can see alternatives that have similar communities with fewer queue’s and a safer bet to stay on past paid transfers.

Thanks!

I personally believe that when a commander starts thinking that he knows everything; that is when he/she gets left behind. This thirst for knowledge by finding new creative strategies (wait for culling to disappear and everyone will need to find new strategies) or spec groups or in-combat tactics is what consistently increases the meta-evolution of this game. People don’t realize that this game is still fairly new and we are only scratching the surface of the meta-game.

3. Channels of Communication
All the commanders in the main WvW guilds get along. We have open channels of communication and truly believe in multi-guild coordination. There is no hierarchy of ego’s between us. We respect those that are more experienced and give credit where its due but it’s far from a dictatorship or a democracy. I would say it’s more along the lines of a ‘controlled democracy’. Any guild that decides to move here will have a voice at the table and be welcomed with open arms into the War Council (Commanders). They will have an equal say on the overall planning and strategic discussion. We believe in inclusivity from the get-go.

4. Veteran Oceanic’s
Our server is a NA-heavy server. This does not mean that we are completely full in NA time, in fact other than TCBL and EB there are no queues in other maps during NA primetime. When the guilds have decided to make a coordinated push on an enemy borderland a queue might pop up but the longest that has been is 15 to 30 minutes. Even so this still results in only having 2/4 maps at queue.
Our oceanics are a rag-tag bunch of hardened veterans. I play during oceanic and euro as well. We have fought with inferior numbers against tremendous oceanic powerhouses; we fought against Crystal Desert multiple times, we fought against Sea of Sorrow and Blackgate when they were on the rise and Blackgate again when they were back at Tier 2 and heavily increasing their oceanic presence and we have held our own. I would go so far on a limb and say that our oceanic although lacking in number consist of far more experienced and less-mistake prone players than our NA crew. Although a lot of our NA do consistently pull all nighters to keep us competitive #nolife.

5. Long Term Vision
This is what separates us from the other bandwagon servers. We have stability because the backbone of our WvW is the militia/pugs. We have many veterans scattered among various small guilds. This backbone will always exist. TC will always be the unofficial RP server therefore population of militia/pugs will never be an issue. We are not solely dependent on our large WvW guilds so even if they decide to transfer over there won’t be a plummet in tiers and performance. The stability will always be there. We want to encourage more WvW focused guilds to join us in order to make a push to top Tier 2 and eventually be competitive in Tier 1. None of the things that happened to HoD and ET will EVER happen to TC. I know everyone believes that their server has server pride and that is also the case with TC; there is a loyalty to the server that is almost cult-like.
In conclusion, I really hope that your guild considers Tarnished Coast as a possible destination to call their home. Do look past the myth of it being an RP server. I encourage any of you to contact me either on these forums or email (aequitasesport@gmail.com) for further inquiries. I encourage guild commanders to come into mumble with us and watch us operate.

Hi there! Here’s a post by Theongreyjoy from TC that sums us up well:
Theongreyjoy sums it up well:

“I come here as a representative of Tarnished Coast wanting to state a proposal to any guilds that are still undecided about moving to choose Tarnished Coast as your future home. In the following paragraphs I hope to put forth convincing arguments to help you decide in favor of a move to Tarnished Coast.

1. Community
The first point I want to reiterate is that of our community. Everyone knows that TC is the unofficial RP server which in essence brings a lot of maturity and limits keyboard warriors and trolls. The community has been consistently praised for our ‘never say die’ attitude and our great representation of ourselves on any public forums.
The myth about RP servers not being capable in PVP is just that a myth. In WoW many of the best arena players and teams came from RP servers. There is no instances in WvW where people are just RP-ing and not fighting for the coast. On the other hand the RP-ers who PVP bring a really unique dimension to the server, there is constant entertainment where they can take a small incident and through their RP are able to make it one morale-boosting hilarious scenario. The other advantage of being the unofficial RP server is that the militia are fine with doing the ‘boring’ jobs, the militia on our server are more than happy to sentry camps and towers, tick siege and keep the communication channels going with the guild commanders and leaders as they have something to do while escorting yaks or being a sentry; which is to RP.

2. Organization
- We have a 10000 slot mumble; You heard it right its 10000 slots, not kidding. Recently acquired thanks to the great guys at DIS in an attempt to make us more organized and improve in Tier 2. Not only that but it is a public VOIP for everyone and no single guild is in charge of it. Each guild has their own PRIVATE SPACE in the mumble; private channels and sub-channels. They have implemented ‘linking’ to other channels very effectively as well. This means multiple channels of communication and coordination with various guilds as well as our militia who frequently utilize VOIP.
For e.g. We are now starting to utilize the mumble to effectively coordinate between the zergmanders and the spec groups. I am a commander of TSL and I am in charge of leading the militia as well as working with another small guild or two who are part of my main zerg. At the same time I have setup a bind that is linking me to my havoc squad/hammer squad/yak sniping squad that are sitting in my private guild channel. They are my eyes and ears and are consistently working with me while I continue to coordinate the militia and other guildies in the main borderland or EB channel.

- Great Community Website; We have a great community website www.tcgw2.com; that we are consistently trying to increase in activity. It has a private War Council for in-depth strategic and tactical discussion along with a place for our militia to come and try to get more involved.

- Tomes of Material & Guides; We as a community truly believe that we are only as strong as our weakest player. This is why we go out of our way to produce materials and guides ranging from Basic Introductions to Advanced Strategies. We try to educate the masses as best as we can. In-fact some of us take it so seriously that we actually have a comprehensive WvW ‘Tome’ encompassing a total of 88 pages written by yours truly; this was created by working with all the respectable & experienced commanders on our server. A preview of this guide is posted below.

If you’re interested in tactical, organized small squad play and not zerging around in large numbers, do apply @ http://www.synapse-guild.com/

no intention to jump the SBI bandwagon like the rest of the SEA/Oceanic people did. I wish you guys the best of luck at SoR.

Plus there’s still coverage gaps when it comes to SEA/Oceanic – so there is plenty of work to do and to make your name known

Earlier today before WvW reset (I’m 99% a WvW player), to my horror my account had been terminated due to assisting/engaging with gold for real money etc.etc.

I submitted a ticket asap, but after trawling through the threads here and on reddit, I was mentally prepared to wait at least 3 days, and then at least a week or two before things would be sorted out.

However my account was just restored, so roughly 7 hours after I tried to log in and couldn’t (don’t know when I was banned but I was online about 6 hours before that fine).

So this post is a big thank you to the support team behind the scenes, and Gaile (I’ve read nearly all your posts now, and truly appreciate the patient tone and sincerity you bring to people’s issues). My faith in ANET is restored.

Thank you once again, I truly appreciate the swift action.

To folks based in Asia/Oceania/Europe or NA players who prefer to play at non-NA primetime, I’m based in Singapore so usually play at Oceanic hours (+8GMT 6pm-6am, usually those hours), we have learned to prioritize fast and to be as efficient as possible with the often limited manpower/supply we have.

If you are an individual/organized guild that plays at those hours you could really carve out a niche in making a difference for TC WvW.

I do hope you consider a move to the Garnished Coast!

As Rhyme mentioned, one thing TC certainly has is a mature and extremely friendly atmosphere towards all types of WvW’ers, casual<——>hardcore. The WvW focused guilds have good lines of communication with each other, and often work hand in hand to achieve objectives.

I’m really enjoying this match up (I guess I have in general since TC’s move to T3 and now T2), especially without the orb mechanic. There are some time zones where TC could use far more people in WvW, but since our server is full I guess it’s a matter of getting more PVE guilds/players to give WvW a try.

Well, we may be the newbie in T2 but we were the first to take all of their own Borderland, woot!

Probably because SoR and BG killed each other and because we encopuraged each other not to sleep untill we secured it, but still, still, we got it first, woot!

Technically SoR were the first to secure a borderland, although it was BGBL,

I’m in TC and to be honest with you guys, I’d be the first to say that I’m a newb when it comes to PvP. My first time ever doing PvP was in SWTOR, which I know that PvP is considered a joke. Since I enjoyed the PvP there I tried WvW over here and was actually getting tired of the running around from area to area, killing NPC’s to regain control and continue to the next point. There just wasn’t enough of the PvP going on for me so I was about to give up on WvW. The other day when I logged on I saw swords all over the map so I made my way to the closest one. Climbed up the wall to start my attack to find myself looking out into an ocean of red tags under me. I have never seen that many people before at one time in WvW and it was exhilarating and very fun. We lost some ground and got pushed back, lost the wall, but after some reinforcements came in we regained the wall and began to rebuild defenses. It was something that made me wish I had some VR gear on so I can feel like I was actually in there! I don’t know why people are complaining about, it was fun. Yea, it might suck if it was day in and day out the same thing but every now and then to have a battle like that is just awesome.

Welcome to WvW! Do feel free to ask questions in /map chat, in general our WvW community is extremely friendly. Hope to see more people on TC like you giving WvW a shot, we could really use the Oceanic time coverage

As with most things, the more you spend time in WvW the better you’ll get at it .. hope to see you around!

Ok I’m getting the same thing tonight for the first time .. I googled to see if I could find a solution, but all I found was a guy on youtube who documented it .. this is what it sounds like:

Looks like we’re not alone either. It appears to happen, for me at least, during WvW zergs with a lot of players, but I also had it happen on WvW map when I used a WP. So not sure it’s population-driven.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Note: I’ve updated the latest RealTek drivers and didn’t fix it .. if anyone could recommend a fix, I’d be grateful.

Saw this comment from someone on the youtube video, so giving it a try :

Peg S:
Just a heads up for anyone else googling and trying to find a solution to this .. found an article where they suggested you reset your audio files to default GW2 settings, then lower the frequency? to speed vs quality …. was just in a 60 man WvW and didn’t crash .. so maybe this solution will help others too! Cheers!

Another fun night of small-group gameplay on all three borderlands!

Highlight of the night was trying to take back Hero’s Lodge on the TC borderland from a group of hyper-determined Yak’s defending it. In the past I had scoffed at the notion of “Yak’s defending really well.” I’d seen no evidence of any better (or worse) defense that FA puts up. Last night I witnessed this first hand.

For those drawing a small blank on which camp is Hero’s Lodge, it is the south supply camp on the TC BL map. The Yak’s Bend spawn point is just to the east, and they have a safe route through their west entrance that drops them out almost on top of the windmill. Close enough for them to reinforce as necessary.

I saw in /team that a group of Yak’s had taken Hero’s and were defending it with siege. “No problem,” I thought. “I’ve got two other people with me, we should be able to take the 6 reported Yaks. Blow them off the siege, and then burst ’em down one at a time.” It didn’t work out that way.

The defenders were all part of the same guild: srCm. I apologize profusely if I butchered the ticker, but that’s as close as I can recall without looking at the screenshots back on my home computer. They had setup two arrow carts and two ballistae in nice commanding locations with great line of sight. As soon as a random TCer popped his head out from behind the stacks of hay, the ballistae instagibbed him. Arrow carts caused another 1-2 randoms to scatter.

My small group of three (counting myself) did the best we could against the dug in location. Ride the Lightning to the siege, blow the first guy off. Earthquake to knock the second one off. Damage, damage, “holy crap run away.” I was not expecting the coordinated defense effort. Your guys were kitted out and spec’d well. Every time I attempted to put appreciable damage on your siege workers, I’d get blown back by the Engineer or chain CC’d by the warrior. I even died once down by the water as your rabid defenders saw the opportunity to take the fight to the attackers.

We regrouped and put the call out in /team that “Hey, 4 of us aren’t going to be able to take this camp from Yak’s. There are 6+ of them and they are dug in. Send 3-4 more please.” I wanted a good even fight. Eight of us against six Yak’s with siege sounded like it could be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we summoned the TC Zerg Monster. On my way back to the camp for another go up popped the gold credit for contribution. We swung away to get some cheap quick badges from the jump puzzle.

Finished with the jump puzzle, the call went out again in /team that “The Yak’s guys are back and assaulting HL again!” My group was at six, but 4 of them were in the northern part of the map. I was at the ruins with one other, and rushed to try and hold it until others could arrive. I showed up just as the capture circle appeared. I’d been hoping for guard/claimer support in dealing with the 6+ Benders. No dice.

To be clear: I’m no daphoenix. My Ele started as an alt, and only recently hit 80. He’s geared out in Rares, not Exotics. They aren’t the right rares (I have Knight’s right now), but I’m holding off changing until I can get the P/V/T exotics. As a result, I’m not in the position to take on 6-9 enemies all at the same time. I can, however, kite them.

I taunted them a few times with the intent of them chasing me, and boy did they (after the camp was capped). Starting at HL they chased me up to the ruins, back down from the ruins, back up to the ruins again, through the river, back through the ruins, and on towards the closest tower to the NE. I’d /laugh or /dance from time to time, desperately hoping they’d keep up the chase. The tall Norn warrior blew his bull’s rush, frenzy, 100B combo four separate times during the pursuit, dealinkittenage each time due to timed mistforms. Frustration must have been mounting, but I did not want them to disengage. All because my team was saying in /party “Four minutes out…three minutes out…two minutes out….one minute out…ten seconds out…”

Grouped us six strong, we dismantled the very strung out 6-8 pursuers. Killed four, stomped four. Two I believe ALT-F4’d as we were positive they were in combat but disappeared, never to be seen again. To be fair, though, they might somehow have avoided all damage over a protracted period of time and recalled to their WP instead.

Regardless, it was a great 20-25 minutes of fun that srCm (again, sorry if the ticker is incorrect) provided. Great defense! Work a bit on your pursuit tactics, though. You guys got horribly split as some were faster than others, which allowed an even number of allies to cut you to pieces.

Yaks and their BL defense, crazy.

In other news .. great dueling with the other Ranger at TCBL Garrison SE Gate, we’re drawn 3-3 (before my TC mates came n killed you, sorry!).

since the latest WvW build/2 days ago, my GW2 freezes randomly and my mic goes hot and I can hear this humming sound constantly, until I force close GW2. Sometimes it’s just the humming, sometimes just a GW2 freeze.

Love how you described the rezzing mechanic

When I first read about 40 Golems getting killed by an Oil.. I was like, has the Anti-Golem God risen from the Mists to pour missfortune over us all, I spent several hours praying inside the Shrine of the Golem God (TCG for all you heathens) , but then I recieved a vision of utmost importance, all those Golems that were sacrificed to the oils of the enemy, were actually powered by tainted powercores, and had to be weeded out. My heart was still broken, but alas I was gifted with new plans, and new ideas, how to turn our warriors into the machine god avatars of the Golem God.

And now a short prayer for all of you nonbelivers:

They could have been used for some other objectives with a high degree of success but alas things were extremely hectic at the time (I had just popped into EB some 30mins earlier from another BL and had just re-taken Klov/WC after having lost it to a massive FA Golem push).

Sooo.. Umm.. about those 15 golems you just ran into the oil on south SM. How did that work out for you?

About as well as expected. >.>

It’s not so much that ‘we’ don’t know what to do with golems as certain folks don’t know what to do with them, or how to use them, and that they’re currently used more as a ‘bit of fun’ rather than a strategic tool. They deserved to be destroyed in the manner they were.

I’d go into detail, but it wasn’t my play at all, and things have already been said.
