"DragonHunter" name feedback [merged]

This is the thread for us crazy people who don’t think “Dragonhunter” is such a bad name. In fact, I personally like the name. I hear people call it “childish” as if a 12-year-old thought of it. And in the same breath those people suggest things like…

Guardian Angel
Archangel

Angels are associated with the christian and muslim god, and are supposed to be divine, immortal, and incredibly powerful beyond mortal means… Not exactly GW2 flavor.

Zealot

What is this, Starcraft? MY LIFE FOR HIRE
….no….

Janissary

What is this, Age of Empires?

Sentinel
Celestial

Naming things after gear now? Why…

Centurion

Cylons? Frakk that.

Vanguard
Justiciar

What is this, Mass effect2?

Legionnaire

There are already legionnaires in GW2, and they are exclusively related to the Charr military structure.

Monk

There was already once a class with this name in GW1, and it was almost purely supportive and designed for healing. Anet clearly wanted to give the guardian an aggressive ranged option for combat. Monks were never about range or pure DPS.

Savior
Sanctifier
Saint

Too religious… Christian in particular… Sorry but not all of us are Christian, and Anet has always been careful not to put any specific references to real world ideologies.

Diviner

Do you even know what divining is? What does that have to do with combat, particularly aggressive offense with a bow and mobility?

I just want to say that my personal take on the Dragonhunter name is that Anet took the established theme of the guardian as the “master of defense” and applied the adage “the best defense is a good offense.” In kungkittenis it said that the hand which strikes also blocks. Mordremoth presents a clear and present danger to the world, and Tyrians must adapt to the threat to survive. The Dragonhunter is a specialization which was born specifically to tackle the dragon threat. That’s the lore side of it anyway.

On to the practical side of the name. Anet clearly wanted to make a ranged attack spec for the guardian, should they want it. Something a little less defensive, and with the ability to tag mobs at range like everyone else. Guardian core spec has plenty of melee already. When coming up with a name for anything, that name must convey a sense of what that thing is supposed to be and do. You don’t name Game of Thrones “Fluffy Bunny Fuffles.” There is a purpose to a name beyond sounding cool on its own. It needs to convey the context of the item it describes.

Well in that case can you tell me if this is Gothic 2 that we get dragonhunters?

It’s not that bad sheesh. You guys think it’s the end of the world. Sure the name doesn’t in the slightest bit even remotely fit with guardian theme but it’s not bad. If it went to Ranger and they got something else then you’d think it would be great.

No…cause it doesn’t fit there either….

Fits there quite well actually. Rangers are well wild hunters, they have lots of traps and basically are somewhat game hunters. Though it really doesn’t seem to fit with guardians, I’d rather have Valkyrie even with the female connotation.

“Hunter” sure

“Dragonhunter” describes everyone

Yup thats what I said.

I bet it was hard to come up with the name “tempest” for the elementalists.
In fact a tempest is a storm so it can be related only to wind and water, but it has not much to do with earth and certainly not with fire.

ITT OP has never heard of a dust storm or a firestorm.

What a joke.

The joke is on you because you didn’t even read what these things are.
They are storms in name only but they are mostly related to strong winds.
A sand or duststorm requires a proper region to happen, while firestorms require already existing fire to happen.
A tempest however mostly refers to a violent storm at sea because they tend to drown ships. That is the reason why Prospero summoned it – to throw a ship off it’s course.
Ever seen a duststorm or firestorm at sea?

This is something that was on my mind ever since I heard of “specializations.”
I was thinking if each has it’s own name and if there are going to be more in the future, then eventually there will be ones with stupid names. It’s obvious because eventually it will be very hard to find a good name which will be related to the theme of a class.

I bet it was hard to come up with the name “tempest” for the elementalists.
In fact a tempest is a storm so it can be related only to wind and water, but it has not much to do with earth and certainly not with fire.
I think the name came from “The Tempest” by William Shakespeare where a wizard called Prospero uses a spirit of wind to summon a storm (tempest).

How can “dragonhunter” not be stupid or at least unoriginal?
The great goal of GW2 is killing the elder dragons and their dragon minions.
So everyone regardless of class is a dragon hunter, but now there will be “dragonhunter” dragon hunters too.

So yeah since this is already a good start we can expect other great names in the future like these:

- clown (mesmer)
- undertaker (necromancer)
- gardener (ranger)
- plumber (engineer)

Now don't say I didn't warn you.

Help on Golden title

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rikimaru.7890

Rikimaru.7890

If you want that title so badly then you can ask a guildmate to lend you 200g for 30 sec then just mail it back to him/her.
But if you want to do it the legal way then just do all 3 paths of AC each day – you only need level 35 for it. You will level up due to it too as finishing a path earns you 70% exp to next level. Also you will earn tokens for which you will be able to buy exotic gear once you hit level 80. But you probably need to go on guild runs then as most pug runs don’t accept players that are not level 80 already.

Specializations eh?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rikimaru.7890

Rikimaru.7890

Ok this is just a way of pretending to be doing something.
New healing, utility and elite skills aren’t going to be much use, even if there will be some good ones they will have long recharge times. Almost no one is going to pick a specialization based on them. Even if there will be some elite skills which will buff the whole party greatly, it will have a recharge time of at least 3 min.
The new weapons however don’t seem very special either:

Engineer gets a hammer, like what for? They mostly use kits which replace weapon skills, so what do they need a new weapon for? Which is a melee type at that?

Mesmer gets a shield – seriously? They can dual-wield swords already, thus some new specialization that is, if you look at it from a realistic point of view.

Necromancers get a greatsword. Ah yes being the dead last of the food chain in PVE they get the grand prize. I mean even if it won’t change their situation, they can at least join the “cool kids club” who wield eternity. And again from a realistic point of view it’s not very special. They already wield melee weapons like daggers.

Finally we get the staff wielding ranger a.k.a. “druid”. Ok they don’t have any magic oriented weapons so that sounds interesting, but who exactly is going to use a staff over a longbow? I mean a ranger with a longbow can reach 1500 range using the right trait. So that will give them lower range i.e. 1200. And don’t even think there will be a trait to increase the range of the staff as not even the scholar classes have such a trait.

So unless there will be some big changes to the special profession mechanics, we may as well skip the “specialization” part and just get the new skills and weapons without playing around with new names.

Although right now there will be just 1 specialization, there will be more in the future.
And which will be used will be based on one thing – which weapon is the best as it is the primary source of damage. So at most players will cycle between 2 of them, as there will be a best melee weapon and best ranged weapon.

Seriously the plot is already lazy written, so the mechanics have to be lazy too now?

Hahaha all of you mock me, well no matter when I said that Scarlet’s story is a recycle of Svanir’s story from EOTN, and that she intends to awaken Mordremoth:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lwd/I-think-I-know-what-Scarlet-is-after/first#post3647116
I got the same, yet I had the last laugh.
You guys seriously expect to get some big changes? Hahaha all you will get is **** in a candy wrapping. Just as the plot is a recycle, same will be with the game mechanics.
Only I can see these things using observation and analyzation of the past 2 years.
What I am saying is these specializations are nothing but old news pretending to be something new. New weapons and skills were promised a long time ago, so this is nothing new. All this is, is a present in a cheeseburger wrapping – I don’t need to look inside to know someone is just not trying.

Raising Level Cap?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rikimaru.7890

Rikimaru.7890

After watching the Heart Of Thorns Trailer and reading alot of hoping its an expansion (
correct me if im wrong) and coming up with ideas for classes and what not for the next chapter of GW2. I think raising the level cap would be a great idea.

I don’t what level Anet would raise it to but doing that would give playing heart of thorns more of a reason to play think about this:

A’lot of people are at 80 now and cant seem to enjoy endgame (though i am quite a bit)

raising the level cap with new content and new skills (we definitely need new skills)
would give a reason to play heart of thorns.

If your lvl 80 and Heart of Thorns comes out with new content, quests, dungeons, living story etc what would make you keep playing the new content?

if the level cap is raised you wouldn’t be done with your chars and hopefully they will make tyria’s map bigger with more content so there will be more to do after 80. adding on with new armor, classes,

i dont know just a random thought wanted to know what other’s might think of it. just an idea

Thats dumb and it won’t happen. There is no point to it due to the level scaling system.
You can be level 1000 but in ac you will be scaled down to 30/35.
So give me one good reason for it to happen? Because right now it would just annoy everyone.

I know what causes the damage in Wonderland

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Rikimaru.7890

A lot of people noticed the damage which happens on the huge candy cane after the exploding presents part.
The only thing that can cause such huge damage are the snowballs, however that part starts after the candy cane.
So what causes it? A snowball, yes but not one of those we need to avoid.
Under that candy cane is a path where the snowballs keep rolling downward, and it seems that if they roll under the cane right when we are on it we will recive damage from them.

Why are we doing all this anyway?

Rikimaru.7890

Let’s see Kralkatorrik was briefly controlled by Snaff’s device.
Zhaitan was defeated by a huge ship with a big laser which traced dragon energy.
And since the lairs of each dragon are corrupted and uninhabited by anyone except their minions, why can’t we do this more simple?
The Asura have also created gates which grant instant travel between spacetime, so you’re not going to tell me creating a bomb is a problem for them are you?
So yeah why not have the Asura create something like a thermonuke with a few megaton yeild, equipped with dragon energy tracers and blow the hell out of the dragons?
Seriously who cares about fallout? Those places are uninhabitable anyway due to the dragon corruption, so no need to worry about innocent bystanders.

Edit: Wow some of you are really not smart so I will explain:
When I mentioned “Asura Gates” I just ment even with our own technology we can’t make things like that yet we have things like nukes. So in other words nukes should be a cinch for the Asura.
And I did not mean sending the bombs through gates I ment “missiles” ones that would be set to locate the elder dragons using the dragon energy tracers.

GW2 Necromancers make no sense

in Necromancer

Posted by: Rikimaru.7890

Rikimaru.7890

Ok everyone knows their infamous reputation by now, but lets look at it from a different angle. What I mean is necromancers by lore are suppose to be infamous.
They are wielders of Black Magic and they play with corpses a lot.
By lore even if they are the “good guys” most people would frown on them.
They can be considered a necessary evil.
So this whole necromancers are the worst class is kinda depressing really.
I mean why would anyone study “Black Magic” if it is weaker than “White Magic”, and all you get is people pointing fingers at you?

So what I’m saying is necromancers in GW2 are an insult to the Dark Arts infamous reputation. Yeah they are infamous right now but for the wrong reasons.

As shallow as I find it there appears to be something missing.

- Bloody Prince Thorn

So nothing new? What no ideas? Here is a few:

This was one of several flawless runs.

You have the map to yourself. I had 4 other people in my map, and each round doesn’t start until everyone is off the tower. I’m sure I could reach 7 or higher if it was an empty instance.

You are persistant but we both know that scoring 6 requires luck as the rest needs to fail fast after each time you reach the top.
However since you think I can’t score 6 I have no choice but to make you blow off some steam from your big head.

1000 Gold Giveaway: need advice

Currently I am making 1000G purely to give away. I need ideas as to how this money can be distributed. I am currently thinking of splitting it up to 100g so there are 10 winners, not just 1 and I was thinking of listing 10 different themes each week or so on the forums and from there, with 3 judges choose the winners. For example, fire theme: players will post pictures of their character and the person that looks the most fiery wins. Has anyone got any better way or suggestions as to how I should distribute the1000G? Maybe giving the 1000g all at once is the best option?

My advice is do what I did – stop playing this game.
You are clearly bored if you are creating for yourself such goals.

I think you’ll like the new rewards. Granted, I’m more than a little obsessed with Halloween in general, but the goodies look pretty sweet to me!

No I won’t, I don’t play this game anymore. There are only certain moments I live for like the 2 I will show here:
So the only reason I bother to appear is the tower itself, as it reminds me those times I played 2D platformers that had no saving. And later to make fun of all those that never experienced those hard times, and thus have no talent for this jumping puzzle.
Then why am I saying this? Well sometimes whatever is left of my humanity resurfaces. And so if I can’t have the fun the original Guild Wars gave me then perhaps I will be able to give it to a few others.

So no whatever the reward is it will not impress me as I only care about stats not looks.
UNLESS! The reward will be a Dhuum’s Soul Reaper as a staff – the only skin in GW which ALMOST made me buy it.

Since Halloween is returning then it most likely means the Clock Tower too.
So let me guess the first time reward:
errr hmmm is it a pair of gloves that will look just like some other generic gloves, without the rest of the suit?
Or maybe the developers will try to be “original” by making it a backpiece this time?

But seriously now, since there will probably be new weapon skins too, then why not make it a single weapon skin of our choice?
Or if it has to be armour then make it a whole set. Now I’m not saying a whole set in one go, but a single piece each day.
The reward will be soulbound anyway so I see no reason not to.

Edit: Yup couldn’t be more right!

I mean seriously it’s not hard to make up to 24 new characters that exist only for 1 min each just to unlock all of them. However is it really a good idea to use such methods just to unlock some crappy skins?

The story was cliché from the start but the last part was overflowing with cliché.
First we get “higher-ups won’t listen to reason” cliché.
Then we get “bad guy succeeds” cliché.
Next is “we have to turn this around somehow” cliché.
Next is “final showdown” cliché.
Then Scarlet does the typical “close but I’m not dead yet” cliché.

Then we get the final confrontation part which without the cutscenes takes only 1 min to do but manages to break all the rules of being cliché.

First Scarlet does the “I still have an ace in the hole” cliché.
Next Marjory does the “main character presumably dead” cliché.
Next Rox and Braham do the “leave me” and “no I won’t leave you” cliché.
Next Kasmeer does the “I’ll get you for this” cliché.
Then Scarlet does the “too late” cliché.
Next Marjory does the “I’m not really dead” cliché.
So then Kasmeer does the “I’ll kiss you in the heat of the moment” cliché.
And it all ends with the “not over yet” and “making hints of a potential sequel” cliché.

In fact it’s so cliché that it even makes me talking about it cliché.

You think I can’t run a full berserker build? If you say so. But the way I see it it is you who gets carried through dungeons. I bet you can’t even dodge alphas attacks. Gear and traits arent the only sources of crit damage.

No kidding? I didn’t know that thanks for telling me – what would I do without you?
I realise that duh but it won’t make a differance even is I calculate it with ruby orbs and traits included the result will be the same. More over I did calculate it with the trait too and it turned out the same. But I did not add it because some have 10% from traits like Warriors while some like Rangers can get 30% as full berserkers. And some people use runes instead of orbs so calculating for every possibility would be a waste of time. And I have no intention of doing that just because you don’t know what “i” in in the i7 processors stands for.

Rikimaru.7890

Im sure i dont need to point out the flaws in your maths. They said overall damage. So you need to calculate dps or effective power. It is about 10% for unbuffed berserkers but for organised groups its much closer to a 25% damage loss. Essentially they are nerfing organised groups that optimize and work together and allowing pugs to get away with pretty much no loss. Pretty big joke if you ask me.

If everyone in a team deals 2000 damage then the whole party deals 10000.
However if everyone deals 1800 then the whole party deals 9000.
10% is 10% no matter how much power or party members you add.
Of course the more damage you deal the more damage you lose in the form of that 10%. But the fact is ANET did not lie. Your problem is that you think if you earn 1000$ and get a 5% raise every year then it means every year you get a 50$ raise. Which is not because every year you get 5% of your current pay thus it is a higher raise each year.

Ferocity and mathematic illiterates

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Rikimaru.7890

Rikimaru.7890

Thats right the previous calculations were made by mathematic illiterates.
ANET claimed the damage loss will be about 10% however the actual loss in critical damage is about 33%. All you need to do to see it is calculate it using the add from Traits alone. If we add 30 to the trait that governs critical damage we get 30%. Yet 300 ferocity will only give 20%.
However did ANET lie? The answer is: NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why? Because critical damage is at 150% from the start and whatever we add to the pool is added to the sum. Full ascended gear gives 71% critical damage so that gives us in total 221% when not including traits and upgrades.
Full ascended gear will give us 745 ferocity so after dividing it by 15 it gives us 49,6% so in total we have 199.6%.
So why did ANET not lie? Well let’s put it into use. I will use a fictional skill that deals 1500 damage and compare previous and current critical strike damage.
1500 × 221/100 = 3315
1500 × 199/100 = 2985
So ANET did not lie when they said the damage loss is about 10% don’t believe me? Well let’s check to be sure:
3315 × 0,9 = 2983,5
Yup it seems correct. And actually it’s slightly less than 10%.
My advice is stop crying and go back to school.

Ok since some people still don’t get it I will go to the extremes – full acended Ranger with runes that give mostly critical damage (runes of the air) and with banner of discipline effect. Critical damage will be 71 + 10(runes) + 30(traits) +15(banner) = 126
So full critical damage is 126 + 150 = 276
And now ferocity 745 +165(runes) +300(traits) +170(banner) = 1380
1380/15 = 92
So full critical damage is 92 + 150 = 242

Ok now let’s compare again using the skill that deals 1500:
1500 × 276/100 = 4140
1500 × 242/100 = 3630

So now we go a bit over 10% difference in damage as: 4140 × 0,9 = 3726.
The actual difference in power is slightly over 12% now: 4140 × 0,88 = 3643,2
If we include food which gives critical damage it could reach 13% in damage loss.

I should also add that runes are going to give slightly more points now after the update – 10 points more i.e. 175 in total if we believe the screenshot here:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en-gb/news/runes-sigils-and-balance-updates/

Not really. I only said that to point out that if there’s anything I regret, it’s the story I missed, not the achievement points I can’t get anymore. I regret that I COULDN’T be there for this part of LS. But I’m still glad it was temporary because if it wasn’t, the world wouldn’t feel alive to me Read my post carefully and respond to it as a whole, not just to a single sentence because that might lead to pointless semantics arguement.

You don’t get it do you? I think it is you who needs to learn to read. The point I was making is that people should not be told when they should play a game. And the fact you don’t like to miss content yourself is one of the reasons why it is a bad idea to make temporary content. Got it?

Living world is a failure no matter what

“Geijitsu wa bakuhatsu da”

There are people out there who really like the concept of temporary content and can appreciate it, you know. Great things come and go, and so is the LS content, and because it’s temporary, it gives you that feel of the living world. Nothing is permanent in the real world.

Yes, Living Story has its flaws, but it’s not the idea itself that’s a failure. Think about it, how real would Tyria feel if it wasn’t changing at all? If every patch was adding permanent content? We would be fighting Scarlet million times, years after her death and that would make no sense.

As for missing the content.. Well, I was out of the country last year and I haven’t been able to play for 3 months. I missed the aetherblades patch, the jubilee, voting for Ellen, all that. And I don’t care about the achievements I don’t have. I only regret that I couldn’t experience the content and story. Because that’s what this game’s all about for me. If I wanted to just get points, I’d go play tetris.

So basically, you can’t just jump in here and “predict” the future of the game based on just ONE point of view, one opinion. Because not everyone is the type of player you are, and everyone is enjoying different things.

I hate to break it to you but if you regret missing some of the content it only means I’m right.

Owner: This beer is very good or so I heared I think I’ll drink it on saturday though
Beer: No way dude by saturday the content inside this can will be gone
Owner: err ok then I’ll drink you right now
Beer: Sorry pal this can is impossible to open till wednesday
Owner: Fine I’ll drink you friday then
Beer: Fine but I gotta warn you that I will taste the best right after opening so it’s best to drink me wednesday
Owner: Listen beer I paid for you so I should decide when I drink you!
Beer: Chill out dude I’m just a beer if you have such complains talk to my makers, plus no one is telling you that you have to drink me
Owner: Ok screw this I am never drinking you again and I don’t care how good you may taste!

Yes temporary content works exactly like that. Regardless if its good or bad it will just annoy eventually. Even more so if it is good. Why is that so? It’s simple: Let’s say that we get new content that is simply so great and epic that we don’t want to stop playing it. Well in that case once it’s removed we will want it back and the fact it won’t be back will annoy us greatly.
Now on the other hand if the content sucks (which mostly does) we won’t want to play it but we still will do it for the achievements. And that is really all it goes down to – the achievements or rather the achievement points. The achievements are meaningless because all achievements from temporary content are meaningless no matter what you have to do to get them. More over most of them are just stupid tasks like find/kill/dodge X times something.
Now somebody is going to say that this is for bragging rights. Well you know what? Thats not happening because a lot of them require cooperation from +100 players so our add to the business is less than 1%.
And now someone is going to pull out the Queen’s Gauntlet card and say this truely is for bragging rights. Well guess what it’s not. Thats because no temporary content can be used for bragging rights. That is due to the fact that there are a lot of new players appearing right now and there will be more in the future that will never have the chance to fight Liadri. And everyone will agree that among them there are those that are capable of beating her. Also there is no bragging to those that were already playing during the Queen’s Gauntlet either because they can always say “I didn’t have time to play back then.” And how do we know a person didn’t indeed? I mean there are a lot of people that have very little time to play so how can we tell if someone is lying?
Also what does beating Liadri mean actually? There are no other bosses that fight like her in the game so what use is beating her at this point?
So it all goes down to the points and the rewards they give us. Yeah well I hate to say it but doing all paths in AC earns more cash than most of the chests give us and the other rewards are mostly garbage.
And now I will tell you how pathetic our efforts are by revealing you the future of GW2.
Thats right I am predicting the future so listen closely!
As soon as GW2 has all of it’s expansions and the living world updates are no more ANET will make more infinite achievements and remove the limiters from the current ones. Why? Because all players must have an equal chance at getting all the rewards including those who only start playing at that point.
So there will be more infinite achievements that give points infinitely. There will porbably be one for events, faractals, kills in pvp, kills in wvw etc.
And so our efforts in the living world will become worthless.

And now my final point is one that ANET should listen to.
YOU HEAR ME ANET I’M TALKING TO YOU TOO NOW SO HEAR ME OUT!
Temporary content will only make people not want to buy this game. Because no one will really like the idea of buying a game if he/she hears the game has content no longer available to them just because they didn’t start playing sooner. So take my advice ANET and stop making temporary content because it’s a bad commercial if you try to tell your clients when they should be playing your game. So either only make permanent content even if only in a much smaller scale or don’t make this at all.
I’m serious you are only pushing future clients away.
Seasonal content like Wintersday is all fine but not this so if you really have to then make more of that. Easter is coming soon so it’s a much better idea to add an easter celebration rather than living world.

So how do we all rate the end of LS season 1

What I am talking about is how easily Scarlet managed to destroy Lion’s Arch.
Seriously what’s it going to take for LA to see a real threat when warned about it?
I mean just 2 years prior to it LA suffered 2 major attacks! First from Zhaitan and then from the Karka. They really need only 2 years to become carefree again?
I am not saying that Scarlet should have lost the battle instantly. But there should be at least some real resistance preventing her from landing in LA and starting her digging operation just like that.

Now the question is did you read my post?

Yes I did remember that that kind of thinking made them lose Claw Island. So you would think they would understand that they are not safe at all. So like I said I don’t buy them being that dumb.

Soooooo… I take it you didn’t read the story from the previous patches?

No you just didn’t read what I said clearly. I said that LA suffered 2 major attacks 2 years prior. So even the dumbest council in the world would care more than that. More over even if kittened they would rather order security extremes after the 2 attacks than to allow their own lives to be at risk again.

Who wrote this plot? I had seen people act more logically in Disney films.
What I am talking about is how easily Scarlet managed to destroy Lion’s Arch.

Question: WHERE IS THE PACT AND THE AIRSHIPS THEY USED TO FIGHT ZHAITAN?
Even if I were to believe they all got destroyed you would think they build new ones after 2 years right? So why aren’t any of them fighting the aetherblade airships? And is the pact on a 2 year vacation or what? I mean they defeated Zhaitan but celebrating for 2 years when there are 4 other dragons left is a bit too much. And aren’t our characters suppose to be commanders of the pact?
I mean if this was for real I would instantly go to Fort Trinity and say “Soldiers of the pact the terrorist Scarlet is going to attack Lion’s Arch we must not let that happen!”

The only explanation would be that everyone lost hope and want to live their life to the fullest for as long as they can. Yeah well that would make sense but BEFORE Zhaitan was defeated and not AFTER. At this point everyone who lost hope should have regained it and joined the fight because now it is clear that it is possible to stop this apocalypse.

You hear of this planet called Earth? Yeah it’s this tiny minuscule rock that orbits a sun hundreds of times larger than it. I mean compared to that sun the planet is nothing…

Just because the original model was massive doesn’t mean the real model is small.

Oh that’s cute a layman in astronomy do you know what a parsec is?
Or did you know that a googolplex has so many zero’s that even using a 4mm font to type it the number would still be longer than the diameter of the visible universe?

Now listen layman I did not come here to argue if something is big or not but to answer the question why Zhaitan is small compared to what was expected.

The question was asked here:

And I bring you the answer by using this:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Zhaitan%27s_Size.jpg

The rightmost model is Zhaitans original model.
After measuring the head of the original and the in-game model I calculated that the original is approximately 3 times bigger.
So yes Zhaitan is a shrimp compared to what we were originally suppose to fight.

Hi. im about to start leveling a engineer to 80 and get it rolling. What do you guys think the best race is for engineers? Appearence do matter. And im not planning a legendary for my engi because i kinda recret getting twilight and juggernaut.

That’s easy – a Charr from the Iron Legion because by lore they are the creators of the engineer class. And your personal story will fit your class if you select both as part of your story. I know because I have.

Six Minutes to errr hmmm what??????

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Rikimaru.7890

Rikimaru.7890

Let’s rewind the clock by about a year and 3 months. Where will we be then?
It will be Wintersday 2012. There was an achievement back then called “Toypocalypse Canceled.” It required us to survive the whole battle to the end without letting any of the dolyaks die. My first attempt at it failed as only 1 dolyak survived till the end and so I called it a day. However it was right after the battle became available. So I figured the next day it will be more easy as more people will learn what to do. I couldn’t be more correct as my very first attempt the next day was a full success.
And yet soon after getting the achievement there was an update which lowered the gap from all dolyaks to just 1. So you could say I succeded in getting it on my first try.

Now let’s compare the present “hard” achievement with this one on how much points they earn and just bask in that for a second:

Toypocalypse Canceled – 20
Six Minutes to Knightfall – 10

That’s right the achievement which obviously wasn’t that hard to get and also had it’s gap lowered awarded twice as many points.
So what I’m getting at with all of this is that either it should be made more easy to aquire just like “Toypocalypse Canceled” or as some people have suggested removed.
Because this achievement is a big middle finger to all of us. Many players have no hope of getting it. While those that managed to organise well enough also can’t get it due to a bug. And those that do have it are mostly players that achieved it due to a previous bug. So I repeat this achievement is a big middle finger to all of us.

In Tune and No More Tricks a problem?

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Rikimaru.7890

Rikimaru.7890

I don’t see the problem really. I got both on the same try and it was only my 2nd time fighting the hologram. And I didn’t use any afk by the wall tactics.

The secret to getting them is simple patience.
What I mean by that is not to try any heroics. For example trying to dodge through the scorch marks as they are too wide to do so without getting hit.
As for the right attunment thing you need a weapon which auto attack can only hit the target. And of course patience again. In other words I didn’t wait till the last straw to stop attacking but instead I stopped when my attunment had less than 10 sec left. I also turned my back on the hologram to make sure I’m no longer attacking and then clicked the floor to stop targeting it.
Once the 3 colored holograms spawned I started using only my scepter’s main attack. Yes this is the time you have to use the taget only weapon attack. Otherwise you will run a risk of hitting the 6 elite holograms in a crossfire when you move to the next color. Same as with the part with the Prime hologram I also stopped attacking once an attunment had less than 10 sec left. There appears to be no need to avoid the attacks during this phase as I did get hit by a few here and still got the achievement. So obviously only attacks during Prime and Ultraviolet phases count.
And in the final phase I avoided the attacks of the small holograms and any of the colored attunments on the floor. The charge attack of Ultraviolet also doesn’t seem to count against the achievement as I got hit by it too.

And thats all there was to it. So just calm down and don’t try to rush things and you’ll be fine.

So am I one on a million?

Or maybe an audience with Gaile Gray – if that’s the case I’ll pass.
Or maybe nothing as always because I know my rotten luck well.

For those who don’t believe me I’ll post this yet again – because thats the kind of kittenbag I am.

Condition Damage has 2 problems

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Rikimaru.7890

I agree there should be a condition equivalent to zerker, however your solution to the cap is not all that effective.

Unver your current solution a party of 5 condition players would only have a cap of 50, yet as a necro I can stack 20+ bleeds just by myself as that is >90% of my damage. That means you just change the problem from 1 condition user reaching the cap to a problem of 2 condition users reaching the cap. The whole idea of a cap needs to just go. If they need to rebalance certain skills because of this then that is fine, but just change the problem skills not add in all sorts of convoluted systems to try to get around a problem that shouldn’t exist in the first place.

You misunderstand I didn’t say the maximum can only be 5 I only used that number to make the explanation more simple. If such a feature was added it would be up to the developers on how high we can go over the cap.
What I ment was that such a new attribute would work like Precision. However instead of increasing critical chance every certain amount it would increase the maximum condition cap.

Condition Damage has 2 problems

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Rikimaru.7890

I think everyone knows why regular damage is favored over condition damage.
There are 2 problems that cause this:

1) There is no condition build gear equivalent to Berserker gear.
I know there is gear that increases condition damage as a primary attribute.
But there is no gear that increases condition duration apart from Givers weapons. However Givers weapons do not increase condition damage instead. So there should be a gear set which increases condition damage as a primary attribute and condition duration as a secondary.
Full ascended Berserker gear increases critical damage by 71% (excluding runes, sigils and traits). So if such gear increased condition duration at the same rate it would be possible to naturally double the duration of all conditions without the need of consumables.

2) This problem is more obvious – condition stack cap.
Removing the cap would be a simple solution to this problem obviously. However I don’t think it would be fun once certain enemies throw on us +50 stacks of bleeding or even worse confusion.
Instead there could be a 3rd condition attribute which would allow going over the 25 stack cap. It could be called “condition intensity.” How it would work is that for every certain amount of it the player has he/she can go over the 25 cap by 1 more stack.
These stacks would also add up for each player that can go over the cap.
To be more precise I’ll give a few examples:
If player A can gain 5 additional stacks it makes his personal cap 30. And if he is the only player in a party of 5 that can surpass the cap of 25 then the maximum cap is 30 and player A is the only one that can add the additional 5 stacks. While the rest can still only reach 25 stacks without his help.
While if there are 2 players that can add 5 additional stacks each then they can increase the cap to 35. Thus a full party of 5 players in which each can go over the cap by 5 stacks would have a cap of 50. However only if all 5 players attack the same enemy. So if 3 attack enemy A while the other 2 enemy B then the cap for A would be 40 while for B 35.
This would also solve the problem with conditions in huge events like Tequatl. As all condition players could add to the damage pool rather than being considered useless.

Gear with such stats could be crafted using the Pristine Toxic Spore Samples to make the insignias and inscriptions. And the new prefix could fittingly be be called “Toxic.”

So what happens next

Rikimaru.7890

Obviously what I’m about to say is something a lot of people are thinking too.

Next we will have to retake Lion’s arch.
And when we do the last part will take place in a dungeon that will be located in that ravine Scarlet is digging. And so we will have our fight with Scarlet finally.
But after killing her it will be too late anyway and Mordremoth will burst out of that place and in the process destroy whats left of Lion’s arch.

Well maybe not everything will be exactly as I said but more or less thats whats going to happen.

If it is a single thread of hair then it would make it the so-called “ahoge” (stupid hair).
Which in manga and anime is suppose to indicate the character is an airhead.

if you look in the mirror you have this hair too?

Your reaction suggests animosity toward me which can only be caused by 1 reason.
It offended you because you or someone very close to you does indeed have such a feature. Otherwise the alternative would be that you feel you should come in defense of Taimi who for a fact is a factional character that cannot be offended by any of this.
Which is unlikely because that would not only be stupid but also idicate a complete lack of sense of reality right?

Asura originate from eastern culture. Asura means non-sura which represent 1 of the 6 realms in Samsara a.k.a. reincarnation. While Sura which are more commonly known as Deva are also another of the 6 realms. Deva are known as gods and since Asura are their opposites they are commonly referred to as demons.
