Since I posted on how to get it and about it’s unique trait’s already I guess it’s time to make complaints about it now.
This cat is de facto the hardest to obtain currently. And I’m not just talking about the fact a lot of people have a problem with even reaching it, I’m talking about the fact it’s the ONLY non-permanent cat.
Yes SAB is only seasonal content (at least atm) so after april 20th there will be no way to obtain it. All other cats can be obtained all year round (as long as you have HoT of course) including the Feline Familiar, while you can’t buy the witch outfit atm you can always ask someone who already has it to spawn one for you.
We have cats that are profession locked and time gated to obtain, but never has there been one that is present for a limited time.
So I find that very unfair toward others who like collecting the cats too. In fact last year when SAB did re-emerge at last I did not play GW2 back then. Thus I would be angry if I missed it myself.
Old news I had seen that ever since world 2 came out. Apparently you need the “Glove of Power” to get inside there, which was never added to the game.
However I have doubts that is an upgrade as it looks like a bottle of booze and all other upgrades are bought in shops. Except for the glove itself and the elites which are hidden. So what could that bottle upgrade? The only thing I can think of is the health potion, but that was also upgraded through a purchase. It also won’t be another heart as that would be for defeating world 3 end boss like the other 2.
I rather think it would be for an achievement if “Glove of Power” was introduced.
Or it could be 3 extra lives – common feature in retro games.
If it is an upgrade then the only thing I can think of is something like an “armour upgrade” i.e. we take 50% less damage after drinking it. But it sounds too OP for something so easy to find.
The new cat is inside SAB world 2:2, at the top of the pagoda with the huge gong we need to use proceed. It appears like a hybrid of a bulldog and a bee at first glace. You need to feed it a piranha just like the octopus. However this is no easy task as you need to go back quite a bit to get one, so best thing to do is clear your path first then go back and grab a piranha. Remember that they try to jump out of your hands after a while, it won’t hurt you but it will knock you back. Which is dangerous because you will have to carry it over a section where you jump over small platforms, so if it does knock you back you fall down and have to start over. Best idea is to drop the piranha yourself thus you avoid the knockback, then you can hit it and pick it back up again.
So tactic is really simple – move a bit, drop fish, hit fish, pick up again and move a bit again.
Once you get the cat it will appear “normal” when you find it in your home instance. Although not entirely, for starters it has the title "Honors in Applied Jumping " which you can see if you target it, it also has a small aura of pixels eminating from it.
But apart from that it looks “normal” or does it? No actually it doesn’t, it has a unique dark yellow color and very dark stripes so it differs from the orange cats, it also has a very short tail as if someone cut it off and only a small piece remains.
So why is that you ask? Very simple it’s because of it’s SAB look which is a bulldog/bee hybrid. It is colored same as a bee and has a very short tail like a bulldog.
Here take a look if you like, I also added an orange cat for comparison:
EDIT: Since people are asking about it – yes you can get it on Infentile mode, that’s the mode I got it on. However the thing is Infentile mode does a shortcut which omits that part of the level. So while it will get you past a huge part easy, after a while you will have to take a detour where there are no clouds to help you. Of course enemies will drop a lot of food on this mode. The part you have to do is right after the ninja who you need to defeat to gain the glove skill. I’ll show you on a screenshot – on the right you can see a cloud path which allows you to skip this part (over there where there is a hand pointing to the right), however you need to proceed with what is on the left i.e. the bulding with the blocks you move with the glove. So yes you can do it on Infentile mode but the JP to reach the new “cat” with the piranha remains the same as on Normal mode.

No, no there is no new cat atm, however I decided to mention this cat due to a funny idea about it.
The Orange Kitten appeared way back during the Bazaar of the Four Winds. Thing is it apparently stinked like hell. So I came up with a fun way to “feed” it, if it did appear we would be giving it a bath or spraying some perfume on it. Then it would no longer stink and would purr happily because of it.
But where would we get soap or perfume? Well some NPC could sell it for karma I guess, for example Wark could sell perfume.
And then it could appear in home instance inside a bucket of water taking a bath in it, so it doesn’t start smelling again, or do something else related to hygiene.
The whole concept will never work because ANET created the problem to begin with.
The introduction of Patches caused this (not patches as in game fixes obviously).
Some of them sat down one day and were like:
- leather is too cheap we have to do something, it causes ascended medium armour to be too cheap compared to others …
- I know what we will do – let’s make it so that insignias require patches which will require fabrics and leather to make
- good idea in a ratio of fabric to leather of 1:1 right?
- are you kidding me? in a ratio of 2:5 leather is way too cheap
- but Elonian Leather squares can only be produced 1 per day like the other ascended materials
- oh right I forgot so make it ratio 1:1 for ascended, rest 2:5
- umm ok I guess
Some time later
- we got a new problem leather is too expensive now we overdid it! Also Armoursmith’s can’t produce leather squares, thus they require another crafting discipline to make them
- ok I have an idea to solve that too – we will introduce a good spot to farm leather with new areas from living world. As for the armoursmith thing – who cares? Everyone can use 2 disciplines anyway.
- aren’t players already complaining a lot about too much grinding?
- well they will do it anyway, so who cares?
- but wouldn’t a simpler solution be changing the ratio of fabrics to leather from 2:5 to 1:1 just like with ascended rank?
- ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I WOULD HAVE TO ADMIT TO BEING WRONG! AND I AM INFALLABILE! MY IDEAS ARE NEVER WRONG! NOW CREATE THE LEATHER FARM OR FIND YOURSELF A NEW JOB!
Now I will add my 2 cents here: For starters, why are the patches named after the fabrics when they are made mostly from leather? Patches are like +70% leather.
So how can they be called, for example “Gossamer” Patches when they are mostly made of hardened leather????
Now you can say that Cured Hardened Leather Square’s are much smaller than Bolt’s of Gossamer. Ok, but if that’s the case, then why do components for light armour require the exact same amount of Bolt’s of Gossamer as medium armour components Cured Hardened Leather Square’s? Yes Exalted armour components require 18 Bolt’s of Gossamer and 6 Cured Hardened Leather Square’s, while Emblazoned armour components require 18 Cured Hardened Leather Square’s and 6 Bolt’s of Gossamer.
So obviously they should be more or less the same size, so I don’t see how that explanation would work.

The only achievement that does not count toward “Head of the Snake Mastery” meta achievement is “Letters from E”. I find that strange, because all others like “Cin Business” and even the hidden achievements do count toward it. So I find it a strange exception to the rule, and I can’t tell if it’s intentional or a bug?
She is another cat that you can find in the first room on the left, east wing of Caudecus’ Manor during the Confessor’s End mission. She is Bloodstone Crazed, thus I suspected she will want some of Sous-Chef Seimur Oxbone’s “food”. I was right however she would not accept Bloodstone Bearclaw Pastry due to consistency. Thus I suspect the right food for her will be Bowl of Bloodstone Goulash, which Seimur sells on Wednesday (yeah I know). However it could be possible she will accept Bowl of Bloodstone Ice Cream which he sells on Friday.
You can see the interaction on the screenshots.
UPDATE: I have tried Bowl of Bloodstone Ice Cream and she did eat it. So that’s one type of food she accept’s, however she may accept other like Bowl of Bloodstone Goulash and Complete Bloodstone Breakfast.
She will appear next to the Bloodstone Crystal Node in your home instance. Don’t know if somehere else if you don’t have it.
I have added 2 new screenshots of interacting with her using the Ice Cream.

Do not use any summons when near Jennah, she will attempt to attack them and thus become stuck. So disable them until all conversations are over. Of course they are no problem during last phase.
So what was the whole thing on reddit said by Linsey Murdock that it’s not going to be Lake Doric?
Is Anet staff angry that we figured out the new location, thus trying to cover it up???
Or are they unaware of their own content releases? Seriously can anyone elaborate on this??
Ok I get it, LA suffered enough destructions and I’m fine with that.
However, just don’t make the same mistake as with Escape from Lion’s Arch episode.
What I mean is the part where we evacuate civilians, it was absurd.
How exactly did that work anyway? Because we had to wait for the toxic miasma to thin in order to enter. So apparently all the civilians learned not to breathe, as they were still standing once we entered. On the other hand if they had a way of surviving it, why did’t we get to use it too?
So no evacuation OK?
And I don’t want any rescuing civilians too, as that makes no sense either.
Since the Queen is aware of the attack she can just order to evacuate them to LA and/or Ebonhawke using the portals, and leave only those that will take part in the battle. But no such evacuation should be done by us.
There is one more thing that is bothering me. The trailor clearly shows centaurs attacking, but why would centaurs join the White Mantle? Enemy of my enemy is my friend, but centaurs hate all humans and the White Mantle is made up of humans.
So for what reason would they join them?

Wiki says it can only drop from Siax the Corrupted. However today I got one from MAMA, so apparently every boss can probably randomly drop it.
For those who don’t know it appears as a 3rd reward after defeating a boss.
As normally you get 2, where one is guild decoration/s and the other is personal reward like power cores.
You can preview all dyes in-game by checking ‘show locked’ in the dye menu. So if anyone wanted to see how it compares to other black dyes they can do that before buying it.
Meh, I will never understand this obsession with black dyes, they are so boring.
It depends what you do with them. I agree it’s boring if you just dye your whole outfit black (and I say that as someone who often wears all black in real life), but if you use them with other dyes it can look really good.
Agree. I need to get a true black to go with my orange for Halloween.
But Shadow Abyss Dye is true black, it’s hex code is #000000 on all armour classes.
And #000000 is hex code for the true black. Of course there are parts it may not be intense enough to look black but instead greyish, however there is nothing darker in the color spectrum than #000000.Except for minus #000000… oh wait, that’s the same number.
You’re right, of course, but ArenaNet dyes also have a Material type so they can be Vibrant, Leather or Metallic dyes and the result is different depending on whether you apply the dye to Cloth, Leather or Metal armour. So I suppose the question is that, as Shadow Abyss is a (quick wiki search) Vibrant dye, is it “blacker” when applied to Cloth than when it’s applied to Leather or Metal armour?
Yes some dyes have different hex codes when used on different armour class like Celestial Dye, which is #D3D0CF on light and leather armour, but #C5C1C0 on heavy armour. However Shadow Abyss is #000000 on all armour classes, which also makes it the only dye that is #000000 on leather armour. You can see the hex codes by going to the article of a specific dye and on the right you will see 3 small squares which represents each armour class. If you put your cursor on one of the squares it will display the hex code for that armour class when you apply that dye to it.
You can preview all dyes in-game by checking ‘show locked’ in the dye menu. So if anyone wanted to see how it compares to other black dyes they can do that before buying it.

For those who bought Glossy Black Dye in hopes of getting a cheaper alternative to Shadow Abyss you made a blooper there.
Unfortunately Glossy Black Dye is only darker than Black Dye, while regular Abyss Dye is still darker than it.
Glossy Black Dye hex code is #1e1c1f which is brighter than Abyss on all armour classes. Abyss Dye on light and medium armour is #1a181b on those, and #0f0f0f on heavy armour which is even darker.
So yes if you want an alternative to Shadow Abyss Dye which is greyish too, Abyss Dye is still the best. As other dyes are tinted, like Midnight Fire which may appear brownish on some armour piecess.
In other words it’s not worth 300g, as it only stands between Black Dye and Abyss Dye which cost a fraction of it together.
Yes even Celestial is not really white. True white color hex code is #FFFFFF.
Celestial however is #D3D0CF and #C5C1C0 on heavy armour.
Which are not even close to true white as even #EEEEEE is much brighter yet contains a bit of Black in it.
However those who have Shadow Abyss Dye can take a load off, as that dye is indeed “Black”. Black hex code is #000000 and Shadow Abyss is #000000 on all armour classes.
So yeah as much as it may pain some people there is no real white dye in the game atm. And I know this isn’t really important, it’s just a fun fact I wanted to share.
Ok so there is a challenge mode for each fractal. However the one in Nightmare is unique as the only one that gives additional rewards, is only available at level 100, and does indeed change the battles.
But I doubt Nightmare will remain level 100 forever, so then what? Will we get a challenge mode like that for each Master Tier fractal? Problem is that some of them appear more than once on each tier. Of course if we have 25 different fractals that would not be a problem, but I doubt we will get 8 new fractals just like that.
I think that a better idea would be a new scale unlocked for those that finished level 100.
And this scale would be the challenge mode, however unlike the other scales we would have to select which fractal we want to do.
So in other words all challenge modes for each fractal would be level 100.
While those required for Ad Infinitum would remain the same as always and on same scales as before.
But here comes an interesting question at that point – why?
Why do we need a CM for each fractal? The current CM is a means of getting the Bladed back items but what about the rest? If each awards Mystic Coins too I guess that would be nice, but that’s it?
What if we could get something nice out of doing CM’s like say Legendary Armour?
Obviously it would be a different set than the one from Raids, but it would be an alternate way of getting a Legendary Armour.
Now perhaps it could be done to get Legendary Trinckets, but the difficulty would be inconsistent with how we get Ad Infinitum. For it we mostly have to do fractals up to Tier 3, except the level 98 time trial.
Regardless there must be some greater purpose in doing CM’s on every fractal if that is the plan. And obviously more ways to get ascended gear in fractals would be a waste at this point.
So what so you think? Is this the solution for getting Legendary Armour by non-raiders?
Ok so a while back I wrote here about the Sigils of Mischief and Runes of Snowfall missing from the presents this year:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/umm-ANET-you-forgot-something/first#post6433700
Now as it turns out the Minor versions are available for a bit of karma and 1s.
But here is the rub – to turn them into superior versions you need A LOT of Mystic Coins.
1 Superior Rune requires 6 Mystic coins to achieve by elevating it from Minor ones.
So to get 50 required for Winter’s Presence you need 300 coins. But wait there is more!
To get 1 Superior Sigil of Mischief through elevating Minor versions requires 20 Mystic Coins. So yes to get the required 50 it would require (drum roll) 1000 Mystic Coins.
So that is 1300 Mystic Coins or 1450 if we include the 150 that is always required.
For now this isn’t a real problem as there are still leftovers from last year.
But sooner or later they will run out and then we will have Major Sigils of mischief which cost around 4g on TP and superior ones which are +16g.
Or even more as once event is over the Minor Runes/Sigils may go up in price too.
So yes those that don’t have Winter’s Presence yet have a wonderful future ahead of them.
Yes you forgot to add a way to obtain Sigils of Mischief and Runes of Snowfall.
Superior Sigil of Mischief was 1g yesterday and it went up to 3g today.
Probably because today is the day a lot of new players need it for Sous-Chef Seimur Oxbone to get 3rd food for Grawnk.
Also very soon a lot of people will be completing Winter’s Presence collection, for which they will need 50 Superior Sigils of Mischief to make Essence of Mischief, and 50 Superior Runes of Snowfall for Essence of Snowfall.
Doesn’t really concern me as I already did Winter’s Presence last year and fed Grawnk 2 years ago. But very soon the price will skyrocket even more and a lot of players will not have a very merry wintersday.
So can you please add them back into the presents? Or give some other way to acquire them? Like a new merchant that sells them for Snowflakes and/or Karma?
Rhetorical question really, yet some people still ask it.
Well obviously infinite use is more than limited use.
However the real questin is if the price we have to pay for them will ever make a profit?
Yes, and quite sooner than you may expect.
If we divide the amount of relics we need for an Infinite potion by the amound required for it’s equivalent Large potion here is what we get:
- Defence – 5000/25 = 200
- Mobility – 5000/25 = 200
- Offensive – 8000/40 = 200
Yes it’s only 200 Large Mist potions, 203 if we include the price for exchanging stabilizing marix’s for integrated matrix’s.
And obviously I am not including the price of Gifts of Ascention which are needed for the Omnipotion. Thats because the regular potions use up as much inventory space as the Infinite ones. While the Omnipotion is an upgrade to them to save up space, and it has no equivalent in regular potions.
The price of the matrix’s is however greater than the fixed gold we pay for the Large potions. It would be around 300-400 depending how much it costs on TP.
However doing daily fractals we are expected to get at least 10+ stabilizing matrix’s per day, plus 1 integrated matrix if 100 CM is done. Thus in worst case it would take 18 (9 with CM) days to get the required matrix’s.
Still 200 uses is a lot right? Wrong! If you only use the potions when doing T4 you will have to use an average 2 per day. As most T4 daily fractals take an average 45 min.
Unless you get 2 boss fractals then it can be done in under 30 min which is how long normal potions last. Thus it takes an average 3-4 months to use up 200 Large potions.
However if 100 CM is also done that is another 1-2 potion uses increasing the amount to an average 3 uses per day. But that only happens if no potions durations are wasted any day. Thus if we include wasted durations 200 potions will last an average 2 months.
However Infinite potions have the benefit that they CANNOT be wasted.
Stop me if you found yourself in that situation: You do T4 and 5 min before you finish last fractal your potions run out, now you are wondering if it’s worth drinking new ones only for 5 min?
When you have Infinite potions you no longer care about things like that.
So yes they are worth getting. Unless you do fractals so rarely you don’t need them.
But if you do daily T4, CM, and recomended all the time you obviously won’t regret getting them.
I think I know what is inside Braham’s head and this can end in 2 ways.
1st possibility will be awsome if ANET has the guts to do it.
2nd however will be very lame so PLEASE DON’T PICK THIS ONE
Braham no doubt wants to go fight Jormag but his reasons are not what they seem.
He actually does not hate the dragon’s as much as he hates us i.e. the commander.
Judging from his current interactions with the commander, it is clear he doesn’t want to be anywhere near him/her. Notice from the very start his attitude when we decide to join, he reacts in a way which clearly shows he is against it. And later on he objects to every decision we make, also his patronizing tone when he calls us “commander.”
So it’s pretty obvious he has a bone to pick with the commander, but he knows that is not a good idea, so instead he wants to take out his anger on the dragons.
But why is he angry with the commander you ask?
Well it’s because of his mother Eir. First he wanted revenge on Faolin, then his anger turned toward Mordremoth, and now with him gone he directed it on the commander. He probably blames him/her for her death now, because he believes it was his/her decision making that among other things caused her death.
Which would explain why he is against all of the commanders decisions now.
He probably thinks if we did not play it safe, and “waste time” instead of finding her sooner then she would still be alive.
So what now? Well Braham will go fight Jormag for now and fail obviously.
Because not only is Jormag stronger now, thus damaging a tooth he lost when he was weaker doesn’t mean anything now. But also Jormag is considered a “living blizzard” so he probably can turn into one, just as Kralkatorrik can turn into a sandstorm.
So then what? Braham is going to shoot down each snowflake one by one? That will take a lot of arrows.
No Braham is doomed to fail but he won’t die, oh no he will join Jormag once he does.
Unlike Eir, Braham is a “male” and males are welcome in the Son’s of Svanir.
Jormag will probably win him over through his anger toward the commander.
Jormag will give him power to get his revenge on the one he believes is responsible for the death of his mother.
And that will be awsome, as we already killed a lot of SoS however we never fought a norn we care about among them. So the situation with Braham will be like the situation we had with Sylvari and Mordremoth. Perhaps he will even become the leader of SoS.
However as I mentioned at the start there are 2 ways this will end.
1st which is awsome because the commander will have to kill someone they considered a friend. Which is always a traumatizing event for a hero.
2nd option is lame because it will be an over repeated trope we have now seen for years in GW2. Which will be getting him back on our side. Seriously first we had that with Destiny’s Edge then with Caithe. So doing this again with Braham will be lame.
Not to mention the thing with Caithe was so forced. I mean she only wanted to protect the egg same as the commander thus she did not have to steal it.
She could have just explaine the egg is her “Wyld Hunt” and she wants to go anywhere it does. I believe the commander would understand that.
So like I said please ANET make it the 1st option not the other one.
If he misses his mother that much then I think we should “reunite” him with her.
First of let me gues what some of you are going to say – I can’t get Salvaged Excellence thus I’m whining on the forum.
No not even close I already have that achievement so you can accuse me of bragging if anything.
So now someone will say – oh but you bought the Salvaged Excellence you poor sucker.
No I did not………..
Ok fine for those who are so curious about how I did it I will add the so very interesting story about it in part 2 of this post.
Ok as far as “Ascended Recycling” goes the main problem is Salvaged Excellence which we get from salvaging ascended amulets which can be hard to get.
However the main method of getting them is Laurels which are time gated and most people don’t want to waste them on Amulets. Hence the problem gets even worse as amulets are mostly bought when they are actually needed. Which causes the price of the Salvaged Excellence to be so high even more.
So I propose an additional method of getting them – for Fractal Research Page’s
like say 28 which is equivalent to 1 journal. Currently the pages do not have any use apart from being one of the currencies in buying ascended weapon/armor chests.
However they do not have any real use alone and each chest requires at least 100g in additional fees (price of matrixes included). So that would give them some use without any other currencies involved. Also amulets are in fact the only ascended gear we CANNOT get from doing FOTM. We can even get trinckets as a rare drop and back items for the relics but never amulets.
And honestly this is nothing ridiculous as currently we can get 3 pages daily which would give 3 amulets every 4 weeks. Which is not far from daily rewards as we can get 2-3 amulets with laurels every 4 weeks.
Oh you are still here eh? So you want to hear the story of how I finished this collection eh? Let me guess? In hopes of repeating the process and getting it too? Ok I will even add a screenshot to prove it as you probably will not believe the last part.
Well the story begins not long after ascended salvaging was made available.
A guild mate of mine proposed I and others should salvage an ascended back item to see what I will get. Then I noticed it costs 1g per salvage but I decided I will try anyway.
And my very first ascended salvage amazingly gave me the Salvaged Dignity.
Which was worth a lot more back then but later dropped so I decided to eat it in the end. After some time doing daily fractals I got a Salvaged Grandeur from one of the rings I got. And some time later Salvaged Greatness from one of the armor pieces I got which I salvage when I get too many pieces of same kind.
After some time I decided I will have a go at salvaging amulets but laureles were too slow obviously. And many amulets I got from HoT I couldn’t salvage so the only option for me was doing Silverwastes meta for Bandit Crests. And so I did that and after I was done I had enough for 20 amulets. However due to some waste-brain idea I got I bought 10 Wynne’s Locket’s and intended to buy 10 Jurah’s Jewel’s. But instead of 10 Jurah’s Jewel’s I bought Caithe’s Blossom’s which are accessories not amulets.
So after calling myself a moron a few times and having no going back now I salvaged all of them. And moments later I was euphoric as not only did I get Salvaged Excellence but also Salvaged Brilliance which I was also missing.
So then I was only missing Salvaged Puissance which I bought for a paltry 46 silver.
As ironically I would never salvage ascended weapons yet it appears to be a common practice among GW2 players.
Now how did I luck out there on Salvaged Excellence and Salvaged Puissance I have no idea. Maybe because I flushed a lot of rares and exotics that day as I kept all my Nightmare keys and bags of rare gear for my “salvage day”. So perhaps RNGesus decided that after flushing a whole armory down the toilet I finally deserved some fortune. So yeah thats pretty much the story of how I got my Fractal Reliquary I hope you enjoyed this boring yet dramatic story and the screenshot.
Ok so the most common killer move Ensolyss has on level 100 is the shockwave attack + exploding hallucination combo. And he does that on both normal level 100 and challenge mode. However as I noticed a lot of people do the common mistake of trying to dodge away from the AOE circle of the shockwave attack.
Of course if you are outside the AOE circle then it’s best to just jump over the shockwave and then dodge the exploding hallucinations.
However if you are inside the AOE circle then it is a far better idea to dodge toward Ensolyss. Because then not only will you avoid the damage but also the shockwave at same time. Furthermore using this method can save you the trouble of dodging the hallucinations. This is because they always appear in front of him while the area behind him is a safe zone. Thus being so close to him right after dodging the shockwave attack you can often just run out of the hallucinations AOE range.
So for those who didn’t know about this method remember: If you are outside the circle you can jump over the shockwave. But if you are inside it dodge toward Ensolyss not away.
Hi,
Revenant was known from 1,5 year or more, but after 1 year I have to ask, why does Rytlock have a covered eyes?
It reminds me about Kormir, but I don’t know.
Same reason as why Ritualists did in GW1 It’s to make it more easy for them to commune with the dead.
Yeah so given how we got one in each previous episode of LS3 I suspect another one is on the way. Probably called “Sentient Abstraction” or something like that which consumes bloodstone dust and empyreal fragments.
Ok but really these converters are taking up too much space now.
Can’t we get a single one to which we can add the others? I mean like the Ley-Energy Matter Converter – we could buy additional panels for it which sell a single item each day only for a different currency.
So we could just have one to which we add the others. And each panel would sell items/boxes for a certain currency.
Seriously they will soon take up more space than the materials we feed them.
I was referring to effective writing not proper spelling and grammar. you could either take what I wrote as constructive criticism and grow, or you can get defensive and attack me. THE choice was yours and you picked the immature option. it’s always a sad day when an opportunity for personal growth is wasted through prideful thinking.
Funny because you attack me first for telling people to read my OP instead of criticizing me instantly. So basically you are saying “it’s ok to criticize a book based on it’s cover without even reading it”. And I should be ok with that.
The way I see it maybe you should grow up instead?
If you wanted respectful treatment then you should have said something like: People don’t read your OP because it’s too long. But I agree they should not judge it if they didn’t.
Don’t blame people for not reading when you are overly verbose. part of being an effective writer is being succinct and purposeful. IF you work on developing those skills your next post won’t be ignored or ridiculed.
You try to play master of linguistics by subscribing to online dicionaries. And use rarely used words to prove how “smart” you are. But guess what? You forgot to start a sentence with a capital letter.
Wow, amazing arguments riki xD.
The solution to the problem is players putting effort into learning and adapting rather than competing to write the longest posts on the forum about how raids should be easier or how they somehow are completely inaccessible(they aren’t but will take dedication) or full of toxicity.
Isn’t my idea with training mode all about getting people to learn and adapt? I find your sarcasm a parody of itself as a result. Because it seems you didn’t even read my OP.
It’s like going to a restaurant where everyone pays the same. But some people sit at a luxury table and are served exquisite food. While others sit at a ruined table and are served leftovers while they paid the same amount of money for it.
And the reason for that is because they are new clients while those at the luxury table are regulars.Bad analogy.
The correct one would be : “It’s like going to a restaurant where everyone pays the same. There is a nice buffet close to the tables, and another buffet with exquisite food much further from the tables. But some people are too lazy to go to the furthest buffet and are therefore stuck with normal food, whereas other people go to some lengths to get the exquisite food”.
All players have access to raids. Those who refuse to train, read guides, and generally speaking, to “git gud”, won’t get very far in raids.
Do you think we raiders became good at it overnight ? We all worked for it !
For heaven’s sake, it took me a whole month to actually SEE the blue circles on VG ! First time I saw them I even went Oooooooooooooh !! so that’s what those are !! OO !
You CAN read guides and watch videos.
You CAN start training runs yourself, try, die, rinse and repeat until you get it.
You CAN do, basically, what we all did : Learn. But it is soooo much easier to come on the forums and complain.
You want the shinies but you don’t want to work for it.
No pain, no gain.
Isn’t my idea with raid training for the purpose of training? It seems you didn’t even read my OP. So I’m guessing you are friend of Sykper.6583 who he send to defend him because I hit him where it hurts and he has no reply of his own. Which is why you quote what I wrote on his post rather than on my OP.
That’s part of the issue, around half the folks will say ‘I actually don’t mind Easy Mode not having rewards’ while the other half claims the only purpose of said mode would be an alternative to getting the same rewards as normal.
I’ve gone through these motions dozens of times already. Imagine if raids did have a training mode that was worthless, explain to me how that content won’t get ignored after a few months of non-raiders going into it, and no one ever needing to use it again. Congrats, you have created another Dungeon in the game, except it doesn’t offer tokens or gold.
So then the argument shifts towards applying rewards, to what extent? You obviously need to keep the appeal of raiding up, and everything you do in this game has a cost associated with it. Make the rewards for Easy Mode too lucrative? No one would run the Normal mode, and you have actually nerfed raids. Easy mode not worth it enough? Non-raiders will do it once like before, but find their time more productive elsewhere…
But then they bring up the point about it being some sort of ‘right thing to do’ since that’s what everyone wants. How do they know? Do they have some sort of numbers the rest of us are unaware of? Or are they trying to take advantage of the conversation to push an agenda that no one who is actually raiding successfully wants?
There’s a lot of claims out there, a lot of biases. I know without a doubt some of the people complaining don’t actually care about raiding. I know they don’t, because the quality of their arguments or solutions isn’t considering the counterarguments or scenarios that would come from them. They just ignore it, or say ‘Well that’s what you think, but it won’t play out like that’. Oh because when you paint a “Raiding Picture”, that will totally happen but when we bring up something that could muddle that vision, suddenly we’re the ones that are wrong to think that?
…For a while now, I have been an advocate of applying some of the unique quality rewards from Raids, elsewhere. There should be a legendary quality armor outside of Raiding, and there is a fair point that this particular set is taking Arenanet quite a long time to dole out.
But I have to consistently ask what is it that makes my solution for Legendary Armor available elsewhere so unappealing to players who despise raiding so much that instead they want to take resources and time away from future Raid Development to fix an issue that they personally have with the content, that raiders right now are not having. When we can just as easily have Legendary Armor in content said raid-hating players DO enjoy.
Is that not a sound argument?
Nope because you miss the point. This isn’t about Legendary Armour or any other rewards. This is about players blocking other players from doing certain content. They also paid for the game so they should be allowed to do Raids if the want and no one should prevent them from it.
It’s like going to a restaurant where everyone pays the same. But some people sit at a luxury table and are served exquisite food. While others sit at a ruined table and are served leftovers while they paid the same amount of money for it.
And the reason for that is because they are new clients while those at the luxury table are regulars.
You also forgot to point out what is your problem. So I will do it for you:
Your problem is your bloated ego. Thats the reason you are so outraged about this. As long as only a few people can do raids you have a reason to brag that you can while others never get a chance to even join one. So once there is an inflation of raiders you will no longer have reasons to brag. Not that you could impress me. Even if you belonged to the only team of 10 players in the world that can do raids I would still not be impressed.
So yeah like you said: “One of the worst posts I have ever read – 2/10”
Ok as we all know getting into raid’s has become a problem. And it keeps getting worse as each new wing pushes some people even further behind from others. Which is why a lot of people still don’t even have the mastery unlocked.
And almost no one will take a newcomer along except for their guild. So I see 2 solutions:Slowly starting to think that the recent barrage of complaints has caused some voices to come out of hiding…to come up with “definitely productive solutions” to a “definite problem” that has nothing to do with getting “easy access to rewards”.
But I’ll bite.
1) <Snip – Guild Alliances>
Isn’t that why we have 5 slots for guilds we can tag up as? So we can talk with a raid guild, while SPvP with our 4 other SPvP guild buddies. I don’t see the point of this at all, we have the tools already to flexibly shift the guild you are representing, that choice is already in our hands.
2) <Snip – Easy Mode with access to all rewards>
Neat. At least you were up-front with what you really want, gotcha. I can totally see your enthusiasm for improving the Raiding Experience by providing a solution that would bury it forever. You are doing us proud.
So these are my idea’s. As a side note I will say I don’t care either way whether you like my idea’s or not. As this isn’t really my problem but a lot of people are unhappy with raid’s and their current pug group’s so I’m doing it for them really.
And I like this to, you took enough of your time to type this all up, and pointed out to the crowd and said ‘Well it’s more for those guys, I don’t care, and you shouldn’t bother responding because it ain’t my problem’.
If it isn’t your problem, you wouldn’t have made a post like this in the first place. By far one of the worst posts I have ever read.
2/10, at least stand by your threads next time.
Oh I’m sorry for not being one of those that have this problem like “monsieur.”
I never cared about Raids nor Legendary Armour and thus I only ever go raiding when people ask me too. Which is why it’s not really my problem.
However if his “lordship” is so distasted with my post then why doesn’t “monsieur” propose something better?
Ok as we all know getting into raid’s has become a problem. And it keeps getting worse as each new wing pushes some people even further behind from others. Which is why a lot of people still don’t even have the mastery unlocked.
And almost no one will take a newcomer along except for their guild. So I see 2 solutions:
1) Simply give us the ability to form an allegiance among guilds just like in GW1.
How is this a solution? Well a single guild cannot exactly do all the raiding all their members may want to do. Unless the guild is all raid focused. But does that mean everyone who wants to do raids is now suppose to go join a guild like that?
Like ok we can join more than one guld but we can only represent one at a time so the other might not be happy about it. So if we have an allegiance we can split guild focus.
One guild can be focused on PvP, another on Fractals, Raids, WvW etc.
It will be much more easy to form a raid team that way. While it’s obvious a guild will primarily take their own members they will no longer have to rely on pugs.
I remember it was that way in GW1 – guild member>ally>pug.
So yes pugs were still taken but only as last resort. But how does that help pugs? Well obviously they have their own guild which can form it’s own allegiance which will help them finding a team.
2) Ok so the whole problem with pugs is the fact they tend to not know the boss mechanics. So no one wants a pug really because then the raid will take a lot longer as even 1 inexperienced player may ruin it. But how can they learn the mechanics if no one wants to take them? It’s really a closed circle here. And don’t get me started on youtube video’s because honestly watching how it’s done is not the same as actually doing it. It’s because you still won’t understand the “what if’s”. Like what if I don’t go there? Or what if I don’t dodge that? Really this is just like when the Swamp Fractal was changed. First month there was a lot of fails but now it never fails because almost everyone knows what to do.
So I propose something called “Raid Training Mode”. Think of it as a Raid version of SAB’s Infentile Mode. It would be a raid instance where the boss battles are greatly scaled down where even 1 player can defeat every boss.
However certain mechanics should remain as deadly as ever as the whole purpose is to learn what we need to avoid, dodge or prevent. So for example Vale Guardians blue lightning attack would still instantly kill the player if they are not in the circle. Or things like the orbs that appear while fighting Gorseval would still reduce outgoing damage and increase incoming damage. However things like the boss’ health and damage would be greatly reduced.
But of course the problem is the parts where the team needs to split up like when Vale Guardian is at 66 and 33% of health and we need to fight the 3 guardians. Well that could simply be solved by having the timer stop counting during such parts thus one can kill each guardian in turn. Or it could be done by having all 3 die by just killing 1 thus the player would simply have to choose which to kill. And things like the blue guardians lightining attack would not effect a player that is attuned to one of the other 2 guardians. So unless he/she will choose to fight the blue one the lighting will do no harm in this part.
The training could also have a mode for a party of 5 players just like fractals and dungeons where everything is exactly as in the normal raid. However the difficulty would be scaled down to the point it would be like doing a dungeon story mode.
The training mode would have it’s own achievement’s which when fully complete would grant a title like “Raid Trainee”. So having that title would indicate that the person does know the “what if’s” and would make it more easy for them to find a team.
It probably wouldn’t solve the problem fully but at least reduce it.
Also killing a boss in training mode would unlock the Forsaken Thicket mastery too.
Because even people in training will need it to get around the area. However it would not give the mastery points awarded for the Boss kills. So one would need to get those from other HoT stuff if they want to fully master this line.
It could also be possible to complete the Legendary Armour collections in this mode.
Now this might be going too far but honestly one still won’t be able to craft their Legendary Armour without the Legendary Insight’s which would not be awarded in training mode. The training mode could grant some rewards but they would be minor.
So these are my idea’s. As a side note I will say I don’t care either way whether you like my idea’s or not. As this isn’t really my problem but a lot of people are unhappy with raid’s and their current pug group’s so I’m doing it for them really.
Dungeons and fractals can be rejoined after relogging …
Ty for that info I never knew. (Sarcasm)
Of course I rentered the dungeon but I got stuck in the exact moment you get rewards thats why I got nothing.
I did Aether path in TA but after killing clockheart I got stuck in the loading cinematic.
I could hear Scarlets rant and the Lionguard invasion etc. But even after it ended I remained stuck in it. I could see my team walking around but couldn’t do anything except loging out. And thus I had to forfeit my reward. I got nothing, no marks, no money, no aetherized weapon. TY so much ANET
The new voice for Mysterious Asura in the Chaos Fractal is a prime example of that.
Seriously what’s up with that new voice? It sounds so unconvincing and phlegmatic.
It’s almost as if the voice actor was forced to do it.
So who thought it’s a good idea to change it? I mean Chaos Fractal hasn’t even been around for long.
Before I say what I have to say I will inform everyone that I already have it unlocked.
So whether you agree or disagree does not matter to me anyway.
Ok so I think there should be a fixed location for that cat during the halloween event.
While acquiring through the witch broom should only be when halloween is over.
I mean it makes no difference that way as the costume stays forever so halloween or not we can get it any time. Unless we can only feed it during halloween but I doubt that’s the case. So I think there should be a fixed location for it atm like in the Labyrinth or at the top of the Clock Tower.
Yes I do not think the next expansion will be coming any time soon. But instead the next Elite Specialization and battle with the next Elder Dragon will be added with Living Story.
Why? Because for starters it’s much too early for another – HoT was released over 3 years after GW2 came out and it was after 2 seasons of LS while we are only 2 episodes in with the new one. Also how much more can the battle be prolonged this time? LS1 took place before Mordremoth awakened and it was the de facto final goal of it. While LS2 was about the effects it had on the world after awakening. Primordus however is already at the “effect” stage so how much more story can be squeezed out of it?
There are 2 other things which indicate that expac2 is nowhere near yet:
1) the 2nd generation of legendary weapons. It’s already been a year since HoT came out and we only have 5 so far. Even if there won’t be any aquatic weapons thats still not even half of the new set. As there are still 11 legendary weapons to go.
Now we can of course assume expac2 can come out regardless. But what if it brings a 3rd generation? We will have 3rd generation when 2nd isn’t complete yet?
Ok so maybe it won’t give any new legendary weapons but that will still be releasing next expansion before we have full content from previous one yet.
Or maybe we will get like other half of 2nd generation with expac2? That would be a HUGE D*** move. Plus expac2 would mean new areas which would be required for the other half of the 2nd generation. And you can’t exactly call them same generation and/or set if you need 2 different expansions to get them all.
2) The amount of Hero Point’s. Apart from the 398 we gain from leveling which is exactly enough to master all Core Spec’s and Skill’s we get them from challanges.
there are exactly 200 in the core map’s (Dry Top and Silverwastes included) 400 in HoT maps plus 13 from WvW and 1 from Krait Obelisk which gives a total of 614. But even if we omit the last 2 it’s still 600. So after fully mastering our Elite Spec which costs 250 that still leaves us with 350. So the cost is not even half of how many we can get. So what are we suppose to do with all those point’s? If next Elite Spec comes out with next expansion it will have new areas which will have new challenges. But we will be able to fully train it even without ever going to them. Also the amount of unspent point’s will increase by another 150. Assuming we get another 400 after spending the next 250 on Elite Spec 2 we still have 500 unused point’s (350 old + 150 new unused).
That’s enough for another 2 Elite Specializations and there is no other use for them.
Now the answer to this is that maybe Elite Spec 2 will require more point’s – not likely as we will be altering between them and that would put one above the other. No they will need to cost same amount just like each Core Spec cost’s 60 to fully master.
Now someone will say that maybe the new areas won’t have any challenges. Ok then how will those that don’t have HoT fully unlock the new Elite Spec? I mean if that’s the case then they will only have the 200 – 214 available from Core maps without HoT.
So only those that have HoT and expac2 will be able to unlock Elite Spec 2.
And there is no way expac2 will give access to HoT too. No that’s the whole plan Core content will be for free while each expansion will have to be bought separately. Well it’s likely HoT will be like 50% off when expac2 comes out but it won’t be for free.
So yeah I think this new content will come with LS. Of course you can say that new Elite Spec yes but the fight with next Elder Dragon only with expansion. However it would kinda contradict the lore. As it is implied we gained our Elite Specs by entering the Heart of Maguuma i.e. the dragon’s territory i.e. we needed them to even the odd’s. So our next Elite Spec should also be gained from fighting the next Elder Dragon.
Why can’t we use the gliding skills from Bloodstone Fen in Ember Bay?
The area even uses same currency that is used to buy them i.e. unbound magic.
It’s such a waste that we can only use them in Bloodstone Fen.
More over I think they would be very useful especially in the JP.
We could use “Dogfight or Flight” to dodge the lava geysers which make us lose our glider in mid air. And “Ride the Ley Line” to make it more easy to make those long glides where our altitude must be on spot or we won’t land on the required ledge.
Personally I think we should be allowed to use them everywhere since Gliding is now available everywhere anyway. But the fact they aren’t available even in Ember Bay is stupid. As they even share the same mastery “Ancient Magics”.
Yes why are there no risen in Ember Bay? I mean Orr is so close to the Fire Islands yet there are no Risen. I realise Zhaitan is dead but no leftovers at all?
Where they all eaten by the Karka or what? Or are the green destroyers mutated versions of them???
Ok since on 23rd October it will be 1 year since HoT came out can we at long last get HoT’s stats unlocked on Ascended Breathers?
I remember at first the stats on them couldn’t be changed as you couldn’t even throw them into the forge. Now it is possible to change the stats but not into the HoT’s ones.
Well it doesn’t matter all that much but still it’s a bit wierd we still can’t have those stats on them.
PS: yes I want my necro’s breather to have Viper stats so sue me.
I mean they are so in love with fiery creatures i.e. Titans, Destroyers.
So wouldn’t it be logical if they joined Primordus? I mean they even worshipped the destroyers as gods in GW1 so wouldn’t it be logical if they viewed Primordus as like a super god or something?
The Sons of Svanir also worship Jormag so I see no reason why the Flame Legion wouldn’t do the same with Primordus. At this point I don’t think they have much to lose.
I don’t know if this a bug or not but whenever I feed the Sentient Aberration my Sentient Anomaly becomes full too. Thing is only Sentient Anomaly gives message that it’s full while Sentient Aberration doesn’t do anything when I try to use it again.
Ok whats the big idea about making the heart quests repeatable?
Yes according to what was written here there were suppose to be “plenty of rewards”.
So where are they? If you do them all you get like 3-4k karma and 15-20 silver.
When I did them the first time I figured that maybe we will get daily map completion reward as it also resets below 100%. I thought that will be the great reward as the usual reward that heart quests give is obviously not it.
So no I don’t think it’s a reward I think it’s just an annoying factor which prevents us from getting 15 extra woods too easily.
In fact there is no reward as we still have to pay for the stuff we get from vendors.
No it’s just a time waster mechanic.
I bought all 3 infinite potions but why can’t there be just 1 which gives all the effects?
I mean it’s obvious I’m not going to use just 2 or 1 sometimes when all are infinite so why do I need to waste 3 slots for them? You could just add another potion which can only be bought/exchanged for these 3 which would give all of their effects.
Also I find it a crude joke that they appear on the sell list for 1 copper when trading – I had to put them in my safe box just so I don’t sell them by accident.
Another thing is the ascended salvage kits – they are also starting to take up too much space. I get more from daily rewards than I use. So there could be a new salvage kit which consumes them all and gains all the uses the consumed kits had left.
I mean with 1g per salvage it’s a waste to throw them away.
Now I do know we can exchange the 1 use tools for a 5 use if we have 5 of them but fat chance of that happening. As obviously you use those first when salvaging ascended gear so it’s unlikely to ever have 5 at the same time.
But even so the 5 use also take up space and they drop about as much as the1 use.
The chest is an obvious reference to the “Demon Chest” from “The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo”. Nice joke what next the “Dead Man’s Chest” from “Pirates of the Caribbean”?
Well every dragon is dangerous in it’s own way but based on logic the yet to be named DSD takes the top spot.
I know a lot of players don’t find the prospect of fighting DSD very enthusiastic because most don’t like underwater combat. But that’s not the reason I think DSD is the most dangerous.
No the reason is the possible scale of it’s corruption. Each dragon can corrupt other races in their own way (except maybe Primordus but that remains to be seen).
You are probably thinking right now that the DSD’s corruption is next to none in Tyria and you are right. There is no corruption from DSD “yet”.
However it’s element is water and while the corrupted water did not reach Tyria so far just imagine how much destruction it will cause when it does.
Unlike the other element’s of the dragons water is something all living things need to survive. So imagine for a moment that suddenly all the water is corrupted and we have the choice of slowly dying of thirst or drinking the water and becoming a minion of the DSD. That’s quite horrifying isn’kitten
I mean the Priory and Asura could probably find a way to filter the water and make it drinkable. But it won’t be enough for everyone. I mean what about crops, forests, wild animals, fish etc etc? You can’t filter the whole world.
So yeah I think the DSD is the most dangerous of the dragons. In fact if what I speculated here turns out to be wrong I will be very disapointed. Because let’s be honest the more horryfying the threat the more awsome it is fighting against it.
Yes the return to the Ring of Fire Islands being involved with Primordus is no surprise to me. I knew that since GW2 came out in fact. How did I know? Well I just opened the map and said to myself:
So the other Dragons should be in these places – DSD somehere in the Ocean, Kralkatorrik in the Crystal Desert where the Dragon Brand ends, Jormag somewhere north beyond Frostgorge Sound. However Primordus is somewhere underground so can’t really pinpoint him. But if there is a place on the map where he would reside the I would say the Fire Islands.
I bet some other people figured that as well I mean it’s the only Primordus themed area on the map.
So yeah when when my guild mate said in GC that a new area is coming which was never seen since GW1 I instantly asked “The Fire Islands?” And as we all know I guessed right.
So why am I writing this? Well because I’m really unimpressed with this considering how long I knew this would happen. Also let me guess what Lazarus will have to do with this. Considering he was revived by a Bloodstone he will probably get involved in the event’s in the Fire Islands due to the fact there is another Bloodstone there.
He will probably want to harness it’s power too or need it to fully revive himself and/or his race or something like that.
Ok so what am I suppose to do with them? I already have Ad Infinitum and still I have enough for 5 Journals. Some people probably much more as I took a long break from GW2 and returned recently.
I mean I know I can sell the Journal for 20 silver but that’s literally NOTHING!
20 silver per 2 weeks is roughly 1,43 silver per day. A single Elder Wood log is worth more which I get a lot each day from all the garbage I salvage. Honestly even 20 gold per 2 weeks isn’t really that much.
So there should be some other purpose for them than just the 4 collection items.
We could exchange the journals for an ascended item of our choice.
Or maybe some item which consumes the pages and gives other rewards in return.
You know something like Mawdrey II etc.
I seriously don’t want these pages anymore but I will continue to do the daily recomended fractals. The other rewards may not be so great either but still worth doing if you ask me.
Rampager’s (or sinister, but rampager’s is cheap) is really not all that far behind Viper’s since necro can’t really apply large stacks of conditions that are not bleeding. Getting 100% bleed duration is pretty easy even without any expertise.
Nuh uh 100% duration is not exactly the limit. “Lingering Curse” does indeed give 50% duration to all conditions from Scepter skills. But this bonus is independent from the cap.
Thus in fact if we could reach 100% duration without it then with it the duration would be trippled. Yes the attribute “does” stack beyond the cap.
So while I currently have around 170% x bleed and poison duration, with lingering curse it’s actually around 255%.
I can of course reach the normal 200% using Pizza and Toxic Crystal and thus reach 300% with “Lingering Curse” on on my scepter. But if I could do it without the food it would be better.
Ok so basically Necromancers have lately gone from the “dead last” to the “peak of the food chain” thanks to Viper gear.
I mentoined a long time ago the 2 main problems with condition damage here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Condition-Damage-has-2-problems
Now with the removal of the 25 stack cap for conditions and adding stats which also increase condition duration both problems have been pretty much solved.
But a fun question is can there be even better stats than this? Well yes obviously a 3 stat set with Condition Damage as major and Expertise as minor attribute.
So all that remains is the 3rd attribute – which would be the best?
Well it could be Vitality to increase Health and Life Force pool.
Or Toughness as another way to increase survivability. But it would not be a good idea if you are not suppose to tank Raid Bosses.
However if we are talking about maxing out the damage output then the best would be Precision. Why you ask? Well due to Necromancers Curses traits.
“Barbed Precision” gives 33% chance to inflict bleeding when you critical strike.
So obviously the higher chance to critical strike the better.
And “Target the Weak” converts 13% of our Precision into conditional damage.
Thus more Precision means more Condition Damage.
And if you don’t know these 2 are minor traits so the only way not to use them is to not use the Curses trait line.
