Dueling a hammer warrior, with blink and phase retreat you should be able to kill him no problem.

But being able to hold a point and beat them in a duel at the same time, is tough.

Good tips from mambastik. I loved running scepter+torch/staff when glamour build was viable. Once I’m bored maybe I’ll try your style out.

Yea i guess that is what i was getting @. Im beginning to feel its a uphill battle for the power mesmer. I seems very hard to put any kind of significant damage down becuase of the constant stealths and blinds. And its not like u can just turn around and cleave with your sword.

But ide defintly like to hear more advices and tactics regarding the matter.

(And no posting the oscicat video, i could beat that thief)

Hello Antara, Im originally from AR. I tranfered to BP last week and so far im loving it.

I originally tranfered to CD form AR (bout a month ago). CD was very populated and a nice server. But the community was boring and felt like drones. I basically got bored and went to bp.

BP for me, about a week, in, is awesome. Seems like there are so many people with personalities, people you remember. Im diggin the community.

And the commanders i have met so far are awesome.

On my powerbuilds i havnt run full berserk for awhile. Im genraly running full zerk armor, and full cavlier trinkets.

I think its s/d, d/d thieves that give me the most issues because they have so many options to blind and stealth.

Im looking for a guild i can go on guild missions with, any NA server. Preferably one that has a scheduled weekly guild mission.

@Dawdler, but can the best power mesmer beat the best thief? Ide say im pretty good, but im having issues beating the best thieves when i use any power build. PU conditions builds i have no problem winning against the same exact thief. In my power builds i have having issue applying any damage.

@Armaggdon, I’ve dabbled a little with playing clone, but not much success. Good tips tho, ill play with that a little more.

@mambastik, I can beat the best thieves with that setup. But ide prefer to run a power build without torch. I just hate how slow the build is for roaming (since i use perplex on that setup). Im contemplating trying that setup with traveler runes tho. Bu ti want that to be a last resort.

Heres my leveling guide.

1. Use level 20 scroll
2. Craft 14 levels for bout 10 gold.
3. Run dungeons with guild on main, relog onto your mesmer at last boss fight 50% health, gain 75% of a level per path. Use money to insta-gear your mesmer @ 80
4. Zerg when any of hte above options arent available.
5. Get 80 in less than 30 hours played.

Phantasm build. All they do is cnd off phantasms and pick whenever they want to burst you, blinding you constantly, at the same time making you waste yer dodges to cancel your phantasms cast.Yea a phantasm might get lucky and hit them, but all they do is stealth and heal up. Pistol phantasms are the worst, cuz they are easy cnd fodder.

Shatter build. They just save their dodges/evades for the shatter. If they get locked down by a combo, they just shadow step out.

Perplex build. The only build i can win at least half the time with. But the really good thieves are getting smart and blinding you so when u block u waste yer torment attack. Against anything but the best thieves its almost 100% win.

Im not talking bout yer average or even good thief. Im talking bout the ones with perfect execution and dont mess up.

Is there anyway to help cancel out with constant stealth/blind/burst rinse repeat routine? Force them to screw up?

The only other option i have found, which helps outside of sanctioned duels is to use terrain. Bring them to a location where they are forced to fight (Like at the vista above the old ruins).

Thought, tips, suggestions? Just dont even bother? run?

Depends on yoru goal. SPVP, Solo Roaming, Small group roaming, zerging.

I would say there is a Good spec for each, but not great for every situation.

In WVW, I run a Phantasm build MOSTLY when roaming, just because i can run traveler runes with it. Ill also run a 0/20/20/0/30 bountifulful interruption shatter build alot also (with traveler runes).

My prismatic understandtion condition build, which is very strong for soloing and dueling, i dont run as often cuz its so slow. But ill whip it out when my powerbuilds start getting whooped in duels lol.

So there are alot of great builds. The only downside to the mesmer right now is the heavy condition meta right now, which hurts us alot, with our limited condition clearing abilities.

Ive been a norn mesmer for a long time. Ileap was fairly unreliable.

Just for the hell of it i rolled a asuran mesmer and got him 80.

IT feels like illusionary leap is much more reliable on him.

I already fixed blowouts: Delete the scoreboard.

Its pointless anyway, all a blowout tells you is that you are fighting a higher tier server with much more population and coverage.

All a close match tells you is that you are doing a good job holding as much as you can while matched up with servers that have like/similar coverage (and/or coverage gaps).

Any system where you can be winning by 5k on sunday and losing by 40k on Tuesday is pointless when being used as a metric to correlate “winning”.

I wouldn’t be opposed to this either, could be interesting.

Traveler runes are the best. Except in builds that call for perplex runes.

Because resources are limited. If you are fielding a huge army, you will have to feed them less.

If you are on a less populated server, theres more food resources available.

And I could also ask, why should my server be punished in wvw because you can field more wvw players? Its not my fault 100’s of anonymous players want to pve. No matter how much William Wallace rallying I do, I still cant pull enough extra people int o make a difference.

And why woud you want to ROFLSTOMP other server because of population? Ive been that server blowing out the other 2 servers, its boring as hell.

The best fights are the ones that are close to even as possible. And why wouldn’t you want a system that can make this happen?

Griefing is the problem with this.

As ANet as said around 100 times, they will not add stat buffs for being outnumbered, outmanned or in any direct correlation to the number of people who have on a map, because it will lead to griefing. People harassing others to leave so they can get 50 more stats will happen and that’s the reason the famed “Orb to Outnumbered buff” argument never goes anywhere.

I already grief the enemy servers for having to many people on the map and zerging.

Nothings changed.

Add a famine debuff after “X” amount of players enter WVW (all maps). Maybe after 50 players enter the borderland, -50 to all stats per each 10 players.

Add the Well-Fed buff when having less than 50 players

Of course this is just an concept, the breakeven point could be toyed with. And the stat buffs could be adjusted.

70 plyers = +150 all stats
80 players = +100 all stats
90 players = +50 all stats
100 players = 0 stats
110 players = -50 all stats
120 players = – 100 all stats
130 players = -150 all stats

All it takes small havoc squad to take the points. How the hell is it ruining wvw?

Even the blown out server can easily take them.

I personally love the new bloodlust. I have had some of the best fights in that area taking nodes then ive had for months.

I just logged into WVW and i cant find my coyotes nor the bears near spawn.

i think its like a 2% increase in stats over exotic. Not a big deal.

I usually will kite around and toy with a necro until he blows his signet of spite. Once that happends i blow all my condition removal and moa him.

Yes i use moa right now because this condition meta is BS. So screw it

I was a bit dissapointed that the new SAB torch skin does not emit light like the rest of te torches in the game.

I dont have problems with thieves or warriors on my condition build. Altho i my power builds they are difficult.

Necros on the otherhand, im having issues with all my specs. Ide be very interested in a necro version if it comes up.

Hey Osicat, have you experimented with traiting Pistol instead of Deceptive evasion? And tossing Feedback on instead of Veil?

Feedback (Or nullfield) + Duelist + magic bullet combo is pretty devasting with Perplexity runes. 16 stacks of confusion.

Make it work like thiefs shadow shot. Fixed.

I run a similar build, cept with the 20 torch trait, instead of the dodge roll trait.

Do u find yourself missing the condy removal and reduced cooldowns much?

Well, im trying to get out of the illusions tree and still have a build that shatters close to a 0/20/20/0/30 build.

Im not too worried about the utility lost on losing IP, as im going to pick up other utility elsewhere (20/20/30/0/0), such as the buffs on invisibility and wut not.

So lets do the maths, say your base mindwrack from a single clone is 1000.

IP, the damage will look something like

With 20% bonus and the 9% dmg from the extra power. ~30% more dmg for easy of math

Hey Osicat, I like this build a lot, but I am having some problems with 1 on 1 encounters with mostly Greatsword, sword/(torch or pistol) mesmers.

It seems like they put out so much pressure off the bat I cant seem to get things rolling. It feels like I am scrambling to get in close to do a shatter, whilst they break me down with ranged attacks.

Any tips?

My buddy had a similar issue with is m14x. Powersupply went bad, so it basically put the laptop in powersaving mode like when its on battery.

Replaced powersuply and all was cured.

Try a 20/20/30/0/0 condition mesmer build with staff and scepter/torch

hella trolling for solo roaming, will smoke almost anyone one on one. U can 1 v 5 newbs too.

Wouldnt this be somewhat of a buff to illusionary membrane?

I know creating brand new maps is a big undertaking. But couldnt you just re-skin the existing maps? Like keep everything exactly the same cept make a desert theme version. Skin the grass to sand, skin the exist trees to palm trees, etc.

you could also have swamp, volcanic, arctic themes and rotate thriugh them. Weekly.

Is there a server that has a lot of small group (with talent) running around? L8ly in my tier all weve been able to find is mostly easy kills/cowards and zergs.

I know PAXA is in our tier, havnt seen em at all tho. I know GF etc is up in emry. No clue where AD/bsty/qq/wtfblah blah are now.

Any other servers out there that have notable groups that can provide a good challenge? And aren’t just a totally zergfest all the time?

Just curious, hows the small man action on these servers? or is it just zerg fest everywhere?

Personally, i like the small fights. Those are the fights where you prove how good you are.

Im running 0/20/20/0/30 with great success. Very tanky and mobile, with pretty decent damage. Mix of zerker and cavalier.

@osif, i actually prefer phantasm builds over shatter. But with the nerf, its enough to push me back into shatter. When im playing shatter everything always feels so frantic, and if its late at night and im tired, it kinda sucks lol. Phantasm i can kinda kick back more.

But yea its defitely a playstyle thing. Im gonna keep playing around to see if theres a phantasm build i can be comfortable with.

Also <3 paxa miss fighting you guys. Our current matchup is just full of crap players, no challenge :-(
