Not a huge fan of pre-arranged 1v1 myself. Its too easy to specialize yer traits/skills/gear just for 1v1’s.
Those 1v1 specs arent nearly as effective as a solid WvW build.
Now 1v1’s that you run into the wild, those are much more meaningful. As people are more than likly using their true WvW spec/gear layout. And you aren’t limited to the small dueling area, i can have you chase me halfway accross the map and use the enviroment to my advantage (Cliffs, tunnels, blindspots, etc). I can use the enviroment to make you waste precious cooldowns, etc.
Exampes if using enviroment. On my s/d thief, i can shadowstep to mobs, rabbits, goats etc. In a small confined area, i dont have those options readily available.
On my necro, im fighting a thief or mesmer, on tactic i use it fighting around a group of mobs, ill dot up a deer or something, and use that to spread my epidemic. And ikittenill me, oh wait i have a mob dotted up somewhere and i rally.
I think 1v1 is only really valuable in spvp, where you run into them defending nodes.

And are NPC’s like keep lords and such considered a monster? Does magic find work on them?

I like Sylvari, cuz they glow at night and i love the tier3 armor set
Thief is most of the time better, and is defintly cooler to play.
But Necro is very powerful for a premade gank group in WvW if you already have people playing thieves in your group.
1 necro + 2 thieves + whatever else > 3 thieves + whateverelse (- necro).

I dunno, i like PAXA. They are always a good challenge (when they will fight us).
Anyways great fights last night PAXA. You rolled us on the bridge to south camp. We meet you again not long after and defeated you at Refuge (or whatever its called south of bay). What happend to you guys there? You started off strong, then as the fight went on you seemed to have dimished considerably.
Ide like to understand what problems we gave you there (Conditions, CC, burst, culling, etc) in the second fight.
In the first fight, your group stealth and insta CC on us really tore us up. We compesated in the second fight, and i did a little kittening at my crew, which seemed to help lol.

2. They arent hacking (i havnt seen it at least)

Wow Give A-net a break. They said there would be paid transfers from day 1. The only reason they didnt implement it is guesting was not complete yet.
What would you rather they postpone the game till now just for guesting? Not me, ide rather play now. On top of that they already had the halloween, xmas and other events already pretty much complete. They arnt gonna postpone all that stuff till next year just so they can open then game when guesting is complete.
The first few months of the mmo are crucial. Pushing out alot of content is one of the reasons this mmo is so appealing to alot of people. They already put all the mman hours in for that initial burst. They arent gonna open the game later and not use it and have nothing ready for when they do open.
I hope they nerf teh crap out of us. Then that means buffs later on. Because necros are already in a bad spot, if they nerf us more, we are done for.
But that just means they will HAVE to buff other builds.

But ask the AR and BP boys, they are in a dogfight. It has been the most even matchup I’ve been apart of in a long time! Give Anvil Rock a try. We have never been bandwagoned and we have a solid core of players that have been here since day one. We have a server wide Teamspeak also.
Only a WvW player has 2000 hours played but still broke, no map completion or legendary and still sees FOTM as Flavor of the Month.

This suggests that stealth in WvW should be looked at as it is:

Mesmers are fun to fight against. You can see the skill it takes to use those skills effectively.
Thieves? Not so much. They either kill you to start or run off when you try and kill them.
I at least know that if a mesmer messes up I will take it down. Thieves just run off like kittens(self censored, cant believe that word isn’t censored) and come back seconds later.
I play a guardian and a necro and i have no issues taking out thieves. Def a lrn2play issue here.
And if your class isnt particalry strong against a certain class, guess what? back off and stop running around solo. Some classes are better at soloing than others, and some are better with groups around.
Can any class port 100 people into a tower? Mesmers must be OP.

Rangers, necrosm engineers could certainly use a little buff, but no class needs a nerf.
I doubt it. Thiefs are already strong. Giving them portal would make them even stronger. I dont wanna give anet a reason to nerf us in other areas.
Ide say give it to a engineer (sapper) or a necro (dark portal). Both class are in need of help and i think it would give people a reason to actually play them.

I worry that they will give thiefs access to worse abilities than other classes.
Example a realm ability that gives u a 10% damage boost. They might give it to everyone except thieves, etc.
Make prestige KILL BASED not objective based. RP’s were based on kills, ANYONE can get high Realm Rank based on keep doors.
How is it any better? This is another reason I am very unsure/unhappy with ranks.
Look at SWTOR for example… for your gear you had to do daily quests, originally the quests were for taking objectives and nothing else. People would stand and let each other take them, waiting for their turn to take it back. Then whined there was no PvP… even though the option was right infront of them but they didn’t take it because it didn’t give the reward…
So, they changed it to require kills instead. What happened next? Big groups of 30 players from each side would meet up and trade kills. So now they have to PvP, but they still choose not to actually do it.
It also brings another thing I hate about it, the whole “We just want the reward we don’t actually care about the fight” thing. If you add in ranks and rewards like this people will grind for them, then quit or whine they have nothing left to do. Sure there are people calling it make or break time for the game but those are the same people who quit 2-3 months into EVERY game, the ones who play purely for reward and not for the fun itself. They will always continue to do so, but putting in these reward levels forces others to do it too.
Now, I may be very wrong and it may all turn out very well balanced and very well thought out, the players may prove to be sensible. Personally at this stage I just see kill based rewards instead of objective based rewards creating kill trades/“duels” instead of keep trades. It also tends to push people towards certain classes/builds more as they can DPS like mad instead of support etc.
I loved the idea of the server rank instead of personal rank as it promotes teamplay but still allows people to cling onto their ego’s if they really have to.

I hope you’re not insinuating all Thieves macro their combo. My brother plays a Thief with Backstab combo build. He executes the combo perfectly every time and I know for a fact he doesn’t use a keyboard macro (I don’t think he’d even know how to set one up.)

Anet has spoken and it is intend. The ability to use instant cast skill in conjuction with skills that have cast time.
Example:
Steal+CnD
Churning Earth+Lightning Flash
Ring of Warding + Intervention
Etc

Please no dragons in WvW. Please no world bosses in WvW. Nobody in the WvW community wants that. That line story event sounds kind of shady. “Escort mob X to position Y” type of thing is always a failure, because it will just turn into a PVE farmfest. It’s always easier to just SvE (Server vs Environment) than to actually fight the opposing faction, and remember, people choose the fastest possible route to their gear. If that route excludes killing players, then they won’t attack each other.
I have 50K kills and over 10K badges. Nobody I’ve ever met wants more PVE in WvW.
Whoa whoa. Dragons in WvW….. That actually sounds amazing. Can you imagine doing this huge battle then all of a sudden you see a huge shadow on the ground and a dragon lands right in front of you like the shatterer?!

I dunno, a mesmer can port in like 20 people instantly, i die less then a second. Thieves cant even come close to the damage a mesmer can bring to the table.

I find it a very good build. I used to run a dodge version of it, with in teh stealth tree. But i find the ability to endlessly cnd, while healing, i rarely have to full out of battle to heal.
Im a thief, im just wondering if queing up CnD before i steal is working as intended or is it an exploit?
I know it takes some good timing to pull off, but with the availability of peripherals that allow you to set it all up in a macro, seems a little powerful.

Mmmm, i dont know if i really want realm abilities. Unless every class has access to the same ones. And they cant be huge either. Thats just another thing they will have to balance.
Last thing i want is a certain class getting nerfed because of its realm ability. For example, a RA that gives 5% damage. Now said class is OP and the core class gets nerfed, etc.

It takes ZERO skill to run around with 10+ people. Everyone gets to hide behind everyone and press a couple buttons. There is ZERO coordination, no skill necessary, just numbers. So all you guys saying zerging is the wvw style, you choose style with no skill needed. Props
Remember that next time your 5 man runs over a solo, you and I both know it has happened. I’m wiling to bet you didn’t even give it a second thought.
Since the dawn of 5/8 manning they have QQ’d about larger numbers (well not all) and in the same breath they will run over a solo without batting an eye.
Were fighting a huge force, this is probably the worst week you could expect to find an even 5 vs. 5.
Keep this in mind next time you come to call people out for numbers.
I dunno PAXA. Your 5 man group seems to be specifically specced /designed to take on small groups. Its kind of unfair to complain about fighting zergs, when you are poorly designed to do so (just as my group is poorly designed to take on groups such as yours).
I run a 5 man also [Six] but we are more specced for fighting against zerg forces, which we do exceptionally well.
We fought you a couple times last week 5 v 5 (actually you had 6 or 7 tho) and you slaughtered us.
We came up with a plan to give you a better fight, but it would force us to respec to a similar turtle style group, which we believe would diminish our zerg crushing style.
And the thought of turtle on turtle fighting just seemed kinda boring. Dunno , if more groups of your style start popping up we may be forced to.
For now if we meet you in the field, we will probly just run and seek a tactical advantage till we can thing of something other then using that turtle style.

Well, not a turtle as in you all run bunker classes. A turtle as in you keep your AOE tightly clustered and bait people into your cluster with your thief and ranger. It particularly hard to counter with all the clones and the aoe 5 limit cap.
At least thats what i saw when we fought you guys last.
Anyways i give yall props. Our group/spec makeup isnt particularily strong against your group makeup, and we dont plan on speccing around beating you, so we will probably just avoid ya, unless we catch ya slippin :-)
