This seems to be a bug that only affect some people, or some foods. Others have reported that it does work as the tool-tip states. /shrug

Well, it affects me. After the first food (no idea what) eaten that gave me the correct duration I first ate a Minotaur Steak and after that a Plate of Steak and Asparagus. Both only worked for 30 minutes. The primer still has more than 8 hours left at the moment.

I got this one for free from my second Spring season WVW chest so no real harm done, but I am not going to buy this item ever with gems unless I see a patch note that this bug is solved.

If something is announced to be due and done by a certain date, then it needs to be done, just imagine if every single business never met its own deadline. I mean if you cant do it by that time then don’t guarantee a date Anet! I personally don’t mind waiting but I just hope it won’t be a year before this is dealt with because from my understanding Season One Tournament still wasn’t completely fixed, I was on at that time but never participated. So anyways just keep us updated and get it fixed asap- I don’t care if everyone has the same skin because they all participated in hopes of getting rewards even if it is simply cosmetic.

You realize that first sentence is exactly why developers are reluctant to be transparent, right? Soooo many people scream for transparency, and when it’s given, the developers take all kinds of crap if something is thrown into the mix that sets things back.

Comparing game development to any other business is a completely moot point. There are plenty of businesses that have to change their scheduling or push back deadlines due to unforeseen issues.

Comparing game development to any other business is indeed very wrong. There aren’t many businesses where it is normal to postpone releases. Why should we as customers of a game expect anything else?

Oh well, hopefully they found the time to look into this further. As said before this bug is not game breaking, just rather annoying. What surprises me is that a ArenaNet employee uses the phrase “Contrary to popular belief” in a post without any news. I don’t think ArenaNet as a company will be very pleased by this response from their own employee

Can people please stop comparing the number of PvE and Gemstore fixes/updates with WvW fixes?

I understand that it might be a hard concept to grasp, but different things takes different amount of time to fix. Are you really suggesting that they should put everything else on hold until they have fixed a specific issue that effects you rather than working on it while still fixing other stuff (that the majority of the player-base is actually effected by)?

Did not see this response earlier. I made the first sentence bold. Comparing fixes/updates with each other is always stupid.

Keep in mind that the bug is rather non-game breaking even though it is a bit annoying, and as such, it might very well not be considered a priority one issue if something more urgent comes in.

Well, finally something you said that really contributes to the discussion. You normally sound like a fan-boy which makes it really difficult for me to take you serious. But you are right. It is entirely possible that ArenaNet does not see this bug as game breaking. And to be honest: It isn’t. It is rather annoying but it does not break the game.

What annoys me most about this issue is the communication. I understand that ArenaNet does not want to give an estimation about the resolve time. As that will lead to even more uproar in the forum if they do not make it. And it is much easier as a developer to just not communicate to your customers. Common practice in most companies and to be honest I do it myself sometimes too.

As a company ArenaNet should really get their PR and Development on the same line. Several days after Spring Season finished but before they solved the bug with the rewards they publish on their site that Spring Season is finished. Or you make an PR announcement about the end of the season right after it finishes or you wait until the rewards are ready to be send. Now the message was a kick in the balls to all players waiting for the reward.

I don’t really mind to wait somewhat longer on the Spring Season reward. If that really helps solving the issue. What I do mind is the poor communication and the specific bug.

I had to read the post from Mark Katzbach twice to completely understand it. Although English is not my first language I do read and talk a lot of English every day. Still his post was unnecessarily complicated and in the end did not say a lot.

I have not a lot of faith that this issue will be resolved soon. That some people received the wrong reward worries me. I am afraid that ArenaNet did not collect the correct data for some players. It should be very easy to determine which reward a player should get. There are rules to decide for which server a player should receive the reward. Server and reward are a simple check. I played on Piken Square, that means the reward for 2nd place. That last part cannot be difficult so the error must be in the first part. Hopefully the logic to detect the correct reward server is bugged. Otherwise data is missing and it will be very difficult to resolve that.

I hope the post in the WvW forum from a dev about Customer Service not accepting tickets at the moment was just badly phrased. ArenaNet seems to recognize that there are issues with the Spring Season rewards and that it is so big that resolving it on an individual basis is not going to work. So the solution should come from a developer and not from Customer Service.

ArenaNet not communicating during the weekend is not so strange. Devs are hopefully working on a solution and the people who should do the communication were probably not working. They posted on Twitter an hour ago that they know there are issues. Why ArenaNet seems to think that Twitter (or any other social media) is a better platform to communicate with their customers than their own forum is beyond me. This is not the first time they prefer social media above this forum.

How would you change WvW?

Remove EotM from WvW for now and design it again. The map was really nice in Beta, but became a horrible Karma and Loot train. It has some pretty nice features that are mostly bound to NPC’s. In WvW you fight other people and you attack and defend objects. You don’t do that in EotM.

I have a suggestion how to make EotM better: Remove loot and karma from NPC’s. Add loot and karma to attack and defend events. Make defending much more lucrative than attacking. Kill the Karma and Loot train with this.

EU silver league: rightful ranking?

I don’t see why OP thinks Far Shiverpeaks (FSP) deserves a better reward than Piken Square (PS) and Gunnar’s Hold (GH). If FSP just ends second in the current match-up they will end on the 2nd place overall, PS will be 3th and GH 4th.
Clearly Gandara is the number one server in Silver League. All credits to FSP for beating Gandara once. But If FSP fails to secure second place in this match-up I don’t see why PS and GH do not deserve a joined 2nd place at the end of the season. Both defeated FSP in at least one match-up during the season.

Another thing is the format ArenaNet choose for this Season. In this format it is sometimes better to loose a match-up and end in 3th place than to compete for 2nd place. Luckily my fellow players on PS did recognize this situation last match-up so we still have a shot at joined 2nd place overall this season.

I did not enter WvW yet and will wait until the season is over.

Handy out rewards already is stupid, the season is not over. Besides that it is almost impossible for PS (also my server) to end in 4th place. Currently we are winning the match-up which means we will finish joined second (current situation with FSP and Gunnar’s) or 3th (if FSP and Gunnar’s switch places, which I expect).

There are only two ways PS can end in 4th place:

  1. When Drakkar Lake will win our match-up and we end second. I don’t see that happen.
  2. When Gandara end last in their match-up. Impossible, will never happen. After their second place last week they are not going to loose again from FSP, no way.

Handing out the wrong price would be a fitting end to a rather bad season. I liked playing some WvW, but the Swiss format did not work. The fact we (PS) had to loose the match-up from last week to not screw ourselves shows how awful this system worked.

Last Online is broken

Hopefully this is a one-time issue due to the patch. The first two bullets from Balance, Bug-Fixing, Polish are:

  • The in-game clock’s server time feature is now displayed in UTC time and is now much more accurate to the server’s actual time. Daily resets will now occur at midnight as it appears when the clock is set to server time.
  • Guild “Last Online” times will no longer display as over 100 years ago if the system clock is behind the server.

So I guess this reset of the Last Online is a one-time thing. Would be nice to hear from a dev if this is true. Because if we have a reset of this every patch I have to anticipate and do the maintenance of the guild roster before every patch.

/edit a few hours later: This is a bug. Members I spoke with in-game earlier today who are now off-line have a Last Online date of “Unknown”.

My opinion about the Megaserver and the way ArenaNet implemented it is not changed after this weekend:

  • the idea is great
  • normal PvE in most zones is better
  • big events are a joke because of the amount of players participating
  • organizing guild missions still give me a headache
  • communication is still non-existing

We did guild missions today at 8pm CEST. First bounty target was already being killed by another guild while a big part of our guild was not in the same map instance. And as at least one of us hit it, we got the kill. So we had to find a second target to give most members their reward. Prisoner it was and we were lucky to find him fast. It took us only a few minutes to get most members in the same instance so we had just enough time to kill him. But our guild did not end up in the same map for both targets as should be. When we do a guild mission I expect the Megaserver system to put us all in the same map instance. If not it fails. Simple as that.
With the Challenge, Rush and Puzzle we also ended up in different instances but for these events we had more time to taxi everyone to the correct instance so they went better. Puzzle failed on a strange bug I reported, but that is not related to the Megaserver.

Communication exists when you have a sender and a receiver. We send in this thread (as ArenaNet asked us) but I see no sign that ArenaNet is listening. ArenaNet putting some PR crap in a blog post is the only sending I see from ArenaNet. I don’t think anybody here takes that crap serious. So communication is still lacking.
Still no word about how ArenaNet thinks the system should work and if it works as intended. Yeah, work has to be done (or whatever the sentence was in the blog post). Well work always has to be done on a IT system. Can you be a little bit more exact? Please.

Did I miss something? I don’t see any reaction from ArenaNet and now they rolled out the Megaserver concept to all maps. Without any communication. There own thread about it isn’t updated. I did not see anything in the patch notes. I did not look here the last few days so maybe I missed it. Or I missed their reaction somewhere else. In that case: I am very sorry.

If I didn’t miss it because they did not communicate: BOOOOOOH. The idea was great, the implementation is bad. And you simply don’t listen.

I think you can find the following questions on several places in this thread but I still want to see the answers:

  • Did your team got split up? The person responsible for the communication is on holiday and the person responsible for the activation of the Megaserver on all maps just went along? Or do you have a better reason for the total silence of the last days?
  • Are you going to official publish a correct list with all the maps where the Meagserver is active?
  • Do you think that the algorithms to place someone in a specific map instance work correctly? (I sincerely hope you don’t.)
  • Are you going to publish which criteria the algorithm uses for placement? I don’t need a very detailed story, but at the moment it does not work as a lot of people expected based on your information in the blog before the patch went live.

I would be very grateful if you could at least give a sign of live. That you do read this thread. As this is the thread were we have to address our issues. As all other threads are closed if we try it there.

Increase in Gold Sellers: Highly annoying

The increase of spamming messages is becoming annoying. Even during PvP matches I got messages for gold selling. I think I reported at least 10 of them in less then half an hour. 6 are still active (they are on my blocking list and still in the game). I hope the fact I don’t see the rest of them active means ArenaNet bans them very quickly (also when it is in the middle of the night for them).

/edit: Oh, and why is the search functionality for the forum still not fixed? Searching for “Gold Sellers” does not show a hit. It seems the forum does not search in the thread titles. Come on ArenaNet: After almost two years your forum is still crap.

Well ArenaNet solved one issue with the latest hotfix:
Added a chat option – enabled by default – that shows only the messages coming from players sharing your client’s text language.

Well that really solved the issue with different languages on one server which made it difficult to communicate with each other. Now we simple don’t see the other messages anymore.

I will disable this option immediately. I rather see French, German and Spanish in the chat so that I know there are others who want to communicate.

So far no sign that ArenaNet is aware of the fact that their placing algorithm doesn’t do what it should do. No post Yeah we know it does not work flawlessly, but we are working on it. Nothing. Or did I miss a post?

I am very disappointed. I should probably play some other games this weekend. I hope the Easter weekend give the employees of ArenaNet some time to think. Hopefully about a solution for the problem. Or they going to realise that the current implementation simply isn’t good enough and destroys communities.

My (changed) opinion after another few hours of playing today. Megaservers is great as long as I don’t play with my guilds/friends. I see a lot more players in areas that were almost empty before. I play on Piken Square and I don’t use map chat often so I did not check to see if there were players who used another language. For my “solo”-play I don’t need anything special, just other players who use English.

BUT: The Megaserver should improve my gameplay also when I play with the guild/friends. And it doesn’t. After I finished getting some more map completion on my Mesmer I decided to do some trait hunting with some guild mates. I asked them to go to the map first and wait their 30 seconds for me. When I WPed to Straits of Devistation I ended up in a different map instance as they did. I had to join their party to get the option to join them in the map. As I play a lot with these players I should have been placed in the same map instance. They are part of my community.

Conclusion: Megaserver is great for “solo play”, but fails for group play so far for me. And that last part is more important for me. I would rather see ArenaNet remove the Megaservers until they got their algorithms solved. And if they need us to play with it and endure the misery before they can do that l would like to hear that from them. So far it seems they think it works great.

My frustration with the current implementation is partly because I don’t understand why they can’t get their algorithms working. I collect and analyse data for a living. With 20 months of data they should have more than enough to put people in the correct map instances. The fact that they can’t make me believe they do not have the full 20 months of data. Or they made the gap between the soft and hard cap much too small. Or they simply don’t know what they are doing

Secondly, they are a huge irritation for guilds. During guild missions we are ending up with players on different servers and even bounties spawning on different servers . . . Why can’t we all just be on Tarnished Coast, like we are supposed to be, so we can work together? How are guild supposed to be able to organize any large-scale events together if the server system sends people all over the place?

We can’t. Until the implementation of the Megaservers is much closer to how ArenaNet described it earlier I will not organize Guild Missions. I still hope they realize today what a mess it is and do something about it. It is almost 6 PM here (CEST) and for most Europeans the Easter weekend really starts now. A weekend a lot of us would like to use to play GW2 a lot. But that will be more difficult/less pleasant with how the Megaservers work at the moment.

Couple of things.

First of Anet is a bunch of liars. They said that the role out of the Megaserver would be slow. Yet now half of all the maps are now the megaserver.

Third, Anet is liars again. I remember an article or maybe it was the manifesto video but I remember a quote that went something along the lines of “You will not have to wait about for timers.” The megaserver has done just that.

Nope, they never stated that it would roll-out slowly.
They said it would roll-out overtime.

The order and speed of the roll-out will be based on the data we collect.

ArenaNet stated a lot about the Megaservers. Their communication about it was (and is) very confusing. So I am not surprised most people lost track.

In one fell swoop Arenanet trivialized open world PvE content even more, destroyed the community, and tripled map load times for NO REASON AT ALL.

I like pretty much every other part of the new patch but the megaserver needs to be cancelled and sent back to the drawing board.

Technically they did have reason, the bottom 10-15 servers on NA where dead servers, but by doing the mega server they never had to admit it, because now they can say each map is full, the serious lack of reply from Anet on this topic is disturbing, its like they see 100 negative comments about it, and see 1 positive comment and run with the positive one and declare the new idea a success, they ignore its completely destroyed communities, some guilds, world events, the list goes on and on, will we getr a reply, I wouldn’t count on it to be honest, will they fix it, HELL NO because then they have to admit fault, remember folks you are testing these updates for the China release, as if its successful out there they don’t need us.

You would be amazed how messed up the game became after listening to the player-base and today GW2 is far more flawed thanks to those suggestions that set it behind and changed the philosphy behind the game.

People have to stop being ignorant and accept that GW2 isn’t about you or him or her, it is about a whole community and just becaue you see negative comments in the forums, doesn’t mean, the player-base think it is bad…no it means that GW2 forums are negative like they always are becasue people only come here to whine and other communities created for GW2 may have other reactions.

Yes, Anet make mistakes, yes, the mega-server may be a failure, but I want ot players, for once…just for once, that just because you think it is a failure doesn’t mean it is in reality and while you may not like it, there are those who are loving it.

Expressing our discontent with a part of the game is one of the functions of this forum. Some people express their discontent in a stronger way than others. So someone who says that the Megaserver is a failure is expressing her/his feeling. And yes that does not mean that it is in reality. But why should somebody not be allowed to express his/her feelings here?

On topic of the Megaserver: It seems like a good idea and what ArenaNet published over how it should work looked good. But the implementation is not good.

I do not know where you play but a lot of players in Europe are now suddenly not playing on a server in their own language but on one where there are multiple languages. And that is a big issue as ArenaNet sold this game to them in their own language and with the promise of servers in their own language. They build a community in their own language. All broken now by this implementation of the Megaservers.
The game is broken for the RP community by this implementation of the Megaservers. Guild events are broken by this implementation of the Megaservers.

Key word is implementation. At the moment there are serious issues with how the Megaservers work. If ArenaNet get them to work as they told us they were going to work I think I will like them. But not at the moment.

Rose… there is a problem with this. Sometimes a world boss starts and in one spanish servers there are only 10 people waiting. For example the mega destroyer is impossible to do with 10 people.
So spanish people (for example) will never have the possibility to do some big world bosses because there is not so many people doing some bosses?
I think the mega server is a gerat opportunity to do the bosses you would never do in your server.

Guest an international server for those events then, you have the choice. Choice is always much better than being forced into something. I play on SFR since release, which is marked as an international one (EU flag) and we never had any big problems with different languages being spoken. Some national guilds recruited in their native language, that was all. Nobody complained, because everyone had chosen to play this server type.
But now…

Guesting was obviously the solution before the patch as the problem of not having enough people for the Megadestroyer on the SP server was always there. But does guesting still work on Megaserver maps? And on the other maps? Or are you now stuck on your server unless you party up with someone from another server.

If guesting does not work restricting the server to one language is a problem for some bosses. But putting players from worlds with different language settings together all the time is not good. And that seems to be the case at the moment.

I don’t pretend to know all the answers. My post was made in the hope that the developers at Arenanet realise that the current implementation of the Megaserver will spoil the fun for a lot of (EU) players this (long) Easter weekend. And that they will respond before that weekend starts for most of us. It is already late for all those (EU) players for who the Easter weekend started today.

My expectation is that ArenaNet knows that the Megaserver does not work as intended and that they have to something before the weekend starts for most of us.

I expect a response from ArenaNet later today. It is now 10:30 AM CEST which means the developers are still sleeping. In about 8 hours weekend starts for most Europeans. As it is the Easter weekend a lot of Europeans do not have to work today or on Monday (or both days) so it is a long weekend for us.

The Megaserver does not work at the moment for a lot of players in EU. Not doing anything about that and letting it not work for the whole (long) weekend is not a very good idea.

There are already a lot of suggestions posted here about possible solutions. For me the solution should at least contain:

  • The four official languages are respected. So DE, FR and SP are not mixed. Not with each other and not with EN. If this means that you cannot fill a server so be it. If SP for example cannot fill a server for most maps you have to consider other options. But the Megaserver can never mean combining SP with FR or DE. You made specific language servers. If you want to get ride of them make an official statement, but do not use the Megaserver concept for it.
  • Players in the same party are always in the same map.
  • Party, guild, server is the order for the algorithm to take into account. Language follows server so should never be an issue with this order and it gives players the option to overrule the language by joining a party.
  • Hopefully the above three points will solve a lot of the issues for RP. But maybe it is a good idea to remove the cities from the Megaserver list for now until we (the community) have more faith in it.

If for some reason you cannot make this happen today (before 18:00 PM CEST) I expect you to postpone implementation of the Megaserver and change all servers back to non-Megaserver. After the Easter weekend you can look again at the issue, find a solution and start implementing it again. Alienating your (EU) players during the Easter weekend will not do your game good.

As you may have understand from this wall of text, I am not against the Megaservers. Your description of how it should work looks fine to me but it doesn’t work that way at the moment. I simply don’t like the current implementation and I think it will ruin the experience of many players during the Easter weekend.

Megaservers and Guild Missions

I’m the guild leader of a large EU (Desolation) guild. We do guild missions twice a week and have members of multiple nationalities. The megaserver system is raising two main issues for us:

- The guild is split when we join a map. Consequently we have to join up in one map via slightly awkward party hopping. In today’s mission we had two people activate Trillia in two different Fields of Ruins: only one group got credit.

- Guild mission activation can still be done by anyone in the guild. This is a larger issue now as we could have members who are not aware of what is going on activate missions on a different overflow to ours as we are taxiing into the map. We had to kick someone today for starting a mission before people are there: it’s not a pleasant experience and makes what is generally a fun guild event a bit of an organisational minefield.

Hopefully something can be done about these issues. I suspect they will be a significant barrier to guilds completing guild world bosses as well.

As a guild leader on Piken Square I have exactly the same feelings as you have. We also failed to have the complete guild involved in the kill of Trillia because of the Megaserver and members in different maps.

It is pretty simple for me: When my guild is doing a guild mission and is going to a map for a bounty everyone from my guild ends op in the same instance of the map. No exceptions. We are doing a guild mission so it is totally clear that we belong together on the same map. I can understand that a map can be full, that sometimes happened in the past when big events were held. But Fields of Ruin was never full on PS in the past so that cannot be the issue yesterday evening.

I thought we were unlucky yesterday that the activation of the Megaserver for Fields of Ruin happened in the middle of our bounty and we got split up because of this. I already expressed my feelings about activating the Megaservers without proper communication. But reading the rest of this thread make me believe that there are severe problems with the implementation.

I will play again tonight (7 hours from now). I hope the logic used by the Megaserver system works better then. So far it seems the logic fails to let us play with our guild mates and friends.

/edit: From the post above this one:I hope they change the way it works to the way they described it would work and stop rolling it out further as long as it’s not working.

I agree with the OP. I foolishly forgot to give my Mesmer his new rare breather before the patch. Although the rare breather has better stats than the current one, it does not have the superior sigil (worth 4G) the current breather has. And the current breather cannot be salvaged as it is a karma item. At the moment my Mesmer is better of with his old breather with the far superior rune (pun not intended).

Who thought it was a good idea to activate the Megaservers without a warning beforehand? We were just doing a Guild Bounty, found Trillia in Fields in Ruin and all my guild members WPed in. We were in at least three different versions of the map! And as the Megaservers were not activated 15 minutes ago the confusion was very big. In the end most guild members missed the kill, missed the reward en were pretty unhappy. As I am. If I had known that the Megaserver thing was started on this map we would have done it in another way.

And the Megaserver technology did not put us all in the same map although we are all in the same home world and in the same guild. This first example of the Megaserver technology does not make me have any faith in this system.

tldr;
We missed our guild bounty reward because the megaserver was activated without proper warning. The technology behind it failed to put guild members doing a guild mission in the same map. Big fail.

I was looking for a thread about this. We have exactly the same “issue”, all our updates finished 6 hours ago. As one of the other leaders queued the new World Event thing 7 hours ago it was build in 1 hour instead of 1 week. I am not complaining, but I am surprised by this feature.

What I would like to know if this was intended. And if so, why not publish it in the patch notes? It would save some people from a lot of confusion.

This problem seems to be very location specific as it only affects Belgium players. It seems to me something goes wrong in the routing to the game servers between Belgium and wherever the GW2 login servers are. Unless AreneNet uses specific login servers for Belgium (which they probably don’t) it does not seem an issue on their side. Most likely somewhere the routing between Belgium internet providers and the ArenaNet servers goes wrong. And that is something the Belgium providers can solve much better than ArenaNet.

So if you have this issue again ask your provider to do something. Let them check the traffic between their servers and the ArenaNet servers. The fact that it impacts several (Belgium) providers makes me believe that the issue is between the big Belgium internet hub (wherever that is) and ArenaNets servers.

The simple fact is that not all players value the same experiences. For example, while I found Tequatl to be frustrating because of the population issues, I thought the mechanics were pretty interesting, just like I think the Marionette mechanics are interesting. My fiancee, on the other hand, hated the entire Tequatl experience. She’s in it much more for the aesthetics of the game such as decorating her characters and the vista shots. Standing there whacking a dragon till its bar went away was boring, especially with the wait. For her, things like the initial Invasion and the Queen’s Jubilee have been her favorite events, because of rapid, epic scaled combat and large amount of loot, despite the content being considered “a mindless zerg”. Right now we’re both enjoying the Marionette, me for the mechanics and her for the lane defense and stacks of loot at the end.

Personally, I think ANet really just needs to interweave the two. Some LS content should have us hacking our way through endless mobs of bad guys every fifteen minutes, while other times we gear up and tackle a single Big Bad. SAB makes for a good breather episode, though I would try and avoid things like the Fractal update. (Then again, there are folks who love Fractals, but probably would skip the mindless zerg bits. Just goes to show, though.) This is going to end up turning into a large review post though, so I’ll end this here and start a new thread once I have the info dump ready.

Is that not exactly what the Marionette event does? You defend in lane against an endless stream of mobs. As a bonus ArenaNet included some nice elements to prevent it from a mindless zerg event. You kill a big boss in the arena’s.

When I look at the two event (Marionette and 3 headed Wurm) I think ArenaNet did a good job, but there are still some things to improve.
To start with the Wurm:
The fact that this new world boss wasn’t killed in the first few days is good. It means it isn’t to easy. I like the mechanics.
But with the current Overflow mechanisme this type of encounters (also Tequatl) are not really working for me. I do not want to wait for almost 2 hours in a map, doing nothing, to have a decent change on success. Or to join a specific guild, get a taxi to a specific overflow and still have to sit for 30 minutes doing nothing. I thought putting this type of encounters in an instance would be a solution, but after I discussed this with my guild mates I see some major issues with this solution.

The Marionette event:
I like the mechanics. I like the short story instance in LA. I like the loot in the secret lair. As mentioned earlier in this topic the initial loot (from the lanes and from failed attempts) is not great and the distribution between the initial loot and the loot in the lair could be different.
For me the dificulty of the fight is fine. I don’t consider myself a hardcore player, but I am probably better than the average player. I did not have the problem of not having enough players to have a change on success. I did got frustrated during a few attempts by the failures from other players.
I do not think every LW release should contain this type of group events. But once in a while such an event is fine. When ArenaNet takes a good look at what worked and what not I think this event could prove very valuable.

I have to agree. I play on Piken Square. Well, not the last 10 minutes as play was impossible. My skills lagged for at least 10 seconds. Movement and chat were OK for me. It was as if I was moving but the rest of the world was standing still.

The rest of the guild had also severe issues. Hope this will not happen again, as it would mean I cannot play GW2 any more.

Wow, after 2 days this topic moved already to the 6th page.

I am not sure any more if this was a bug. I read on Dulfy that the first achievement does not count for the meta. So it is possible that I had 3 achievements before I got the 10 spores and that the meta was only on 2 due to the not counting first achievement. Maybe it is just the less than optimal way new meta achievements are started that confused me. Asking for a less confusing way to start the meta is probably useless.

According to the patch notes:

Additionally, completing Nightmare’s Aftermath daily achievements will also contribute to the meta-achievement. These are earned by participating in specific The Nightmare Is Over content each day.

I did three achievements for the Nightmare’s Aftermath before I got 10 spores. But the meta is still on 3 instead of 4. Another case of a bugged daily on the first day of the patch?

I will still get the meta (time enough to get it), but I am a little annoyed as this is not the first time a daily achievement did not count for a meta on patch day.

Yeah, doing the Lunatic Inquisition counts for the daily activity achievement and for another achievement “Lunatic Inquisition Regular”. As I don’t see ArenaNet solve this today use it to your advantage.

I do not know what ArenaNet is thinking:

  1. Replace a dungeon path with another path because it is the least played instead of doing something about the reason it is the least played: the end boss fight.
  2. Replace a level 55 dungeon path with a level 80 dungeon path. Inconsistent, confusing, bad idea.
  3. You think replacing content with other content is adding new content to the game? Yes, technically, you add new content to the game. But you destroy other content. Why? Do you really not understand the issues people had with the temporary content from earlier this year?

The lore explanation is far-fetched, the replacing a part of the game by blowing something else up is stupid.

I hope the new path is great. I expect the new content is great as recently most new content is great (Tequatl)

I also hope this is the last time you make such a strange decision.

My (stolen) opinions on Tequatl Rising:

  • Tequatl is a great thing to happen to GW2
  • The content is fun and different from the usual GW2 stuff, which is good
  • It is polluted from issues such as overflows, build diversity and badly designed achievements
  • Arenanet should release more content like this, but not before addressing those issues because these issues currently frustrate an otherwise excellent experience

These are in short the good, the bad and the ugly of Tequatl Rising. Hopefully ArenaNet will pay attention to threads like this and do something about the issues before they make more of this content. I understand that some of the issues are not easily solved, but others (BADLY DESIGNED ACHIEVEMENTS!) are easily avoided.

OP considers it important, not Wooden Potatoes himself. Not only that, but if he posted it himself wouldn’t that be the very definition of “farming” youtube views? Besides, what is the point of this post other than flamebaiting?

The point is that advertising some guy’s talking on youtube for half an hour that could be summed up in 5 lines of forum text is not “feedback”, but attention whoring.

Did you watch the video? I guess not.

First of all: The video WP made is an advertise for this boss fight. He really likes it.
Secondly: After the good WP explains what he find bad and ugly. And he does this with arguments. And that took 32 minutes.

I wanted to make a post to draw more attention to this video. As it is an fine example of how to make an entertaining, informative video about content and give feedback in a positive way. OP already did. You totally missed the point.

Had a quick look at EU, I don’t know their servers well, but in terms of rankings, it looks like chaos there too.

You quote the response from Devon in the post above this one but missed the first part of it I see:

The concept of tiers has little meaning at this point and you should try to stop thinking of matchups in those terms. Servers are matched up by proximity of rating, not proximity of “tier”. If the tiers have ratings that are within the range of the random adjustment, they can end up fighting each other.

That said, the difference in rating in the matchups you quote is pretty high.

On the other hand with the top 2 servers being a 100 rating points ahead of the rest I am happy we have some RNG to get difference matchups. As PS we finally made it to the top 3 after having a matchup with the top 2 servers, but another week against them would have been tough.

This message seems to have different reasons. The once you get when you level could be related to the changes to traits. But that should be easy to solve. Look at your traits, change them al and change them back.

The one I get is after I killed something and want to loot it. It is not related to the new AoE loot, because it also happens with the normal loot option. I think the loot table is referencing to not yet release content. So we indeed loose some loot here. Should be fixed when the content becomes available. Maybe in the next few days, maybe after the next patch. Or ArenaNet should look at their loot tables and see where they link to not yet released content.

It seems the affected achievements are different for everyone. And also if it is solved is different for everyone. For me Master of Overkill and Lifetime Survivor are still bugged. For some of the members of my guild these are solved. Strange.

Update 2/7/2013:

At the same time we’ve been evaluating some possible changes to the math we use to calculate ratings. After examining a number of new methodologies for weighting the outcomes of matches we have found that our existing formulas already do pretty much what we want them to do. Certainly none of the candidates that we tried yielded better results.

ArenaNet looked at new ways to calculate the next match-ups and found out that the current one is better then the alternatives they looked at. So they decided not to reset the ratings. I would say that is a good thing. Maybe it was better if they had done the calculations first before communicating a rating reset. But which ever way they had done this a lot of people would have complained on this forum.

I am happy with the moment they communicate the reset of the reset. Some servers choose to anticipate on the rating reset last week. Intentionally losing is not permitted in most games. Those servers are now complaining about the timing. Sorry, you cheated, and now you face the consequences.

Some information about how they will change the math and how that will affect the match-ups in the next week will make a lot of people here happy. We do not want to know the exact match-ups, but are the predictions of mos.millenium.org accurate or not? If they are most people will be mad. So if they are not, please tell us.

To clarify one thing: I am not crying here because my server loses. We don’t. Based on the little information available to us at the moment it is likely that my server will be number 1 in EU in two weeks time. That will not say we are the best WvW server in the EU, because I doubt that.

The reason I felt a need to comment on this in the first place is that based on the devs replies it very much seemed like there were no plans of a actual fix to the current jps, outside of just fixing smoothning, infact the general vibe i got from his comment were that the current jps were already written off.

And that is obvious a good reason to make the suggestion you did. I don’t know if the solution is simple to implement. I don’t even know if I like the solution. But if it is the only solution for some existing jumping puzzles then I will probably like it.

About the issue of combat as another character. There is already a fractal you fight as a Charr. Both my Sylvari Ranger as my Human Guardian have no problem with that fractal. I can use all the skills I want and still be a Charr. Only problem in that fractal is that I always end up as an ugly Charr, instead of a cute one

@Kvitoq: You did read the warnings in the header of the site you link to? To quote:
ANet has not yet announced the math so the site will use the old formula and the ‘next matchup table’ may be innacurate.
Without knowing the correct math the prediction of the match up for next week will be difficult. Besides, saying anything about the match up for next week after playing for only 12 hours this week is insane. When I first logged in this morning Piken Square was one of those 3 best worlds in the first tier. A few hours later we are already down to the second tier.

I suggest we wait a few days. First of all for an explanation of the new math and secondly to see how the current match ups will proceed.

A pity that a Holiday event with a limited time frame is bugged for two days and ArenaNet cannot solve it. Fortunately I got into all the worlds at least once so I got the achievement. But trying (and failing) the jumping puzzle will probably be impossibe.

Not that it matters but I play on Piken Square and Scholar Anders is still doing nothing.
